With buildings responsible for 27% of operational carbon emissions due to their energy usage, connecting office building occupancy to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems can cut that usage by as much as 30%. The transportation sector accounts for more than 30% of carbon emissions and a third of that comes from fleet vehicles like trucks. Managing fleets can reduce fuel consumption and emissions by up to 25% through route optimization, identifying speeding, harsh braking, prolonged engine idling, and monitoring the health of the engine, transmission, and pressure in the tires to proactively deliver maintenance. Predicting deleterious vehicle behavior with AI is even better.

Saving the Earth with #AI #IoT & #Sustainability

Comprehensive building energy management requires the submetering of all major electrical systems, circuits and equipment to drive better power efficiency. Using a single, overall electrical current meter for the whole building isn’t granular enough to discover inefficiencies. You start by creating a baseline of electricity usage throughout all parts of the building and then search for inefficiencies. Find areas of abnormally high energy consumption and then mitigate anomalies with repairs or more energy efficient equipment. This cuts energy usage, reduces emissions, and saves money. Predicting excessive energy usage within buildings with AI is even better.

Saving the Earth with #AI #IoT & #Sustainability

Food production exceeds global demand by 20% and yet we can’t feed the world’s population with 1.3 billion tons of food wasted or lost every year in the supply chain. This equates to anywhere between 30-40% of perishable food lost after harvest on the farm. Ensuring consistent refrigeration to prevent food from spoiling throughout the supply chain from storage, to trucks, to warehouses, to grocery stores and restaurants via cold chain monitoring is essential. Predicting lapses in proper temperatures with AI is even better.

Leaks along the length of oil and natural gas pipelines result in the emission of greenhouse gases (GHG) such as carbon dioxide, methane, and others. Continuous monitoring to detect the presence of these gases rather than waiting for periodic inspections delivers a significant and immediate impact in reducing the GHGs that are warming the Earth. In fact, continuous monitoring systems can reduce methane emissions by approximately 60-90% when combined with rapid repair protocols. Additionally, eliminating in-person inspections reduces vehicle fuel consumption and associated emissions by up to 40%. Predicting pipeline emissions with AI is even better.
