Is it spring yet…?

We were just hit with the blizzard of the decade!

The snow is incredibly beautiful outside, though I can say that since I’m now warm inside.  We ventured out into the  cold for an hour this morning and the drifts are so high!

It first began when I needed some good study knitting…  A provisional cast-on and then almost two feet of stockinette.  For some that may be boring, but for me it keeps the hands busy so my mind is able to concentrate.  It’s a low-key form of multitasking.

Torsion

design notes:

reverse stockinette fabric is knit at a loose gauge and doubled for warmth.

gauge/size relationship is essential for proper fit: best worn with 0″ to 1″ negative ease.

optional notes and directions appear throughout the pattern.

this pattern is easibly adaptable to other stitch patterns or yarn weights.

sizes: 20″ [22″] circumference unstretched

gauge: 7stitches/1inch stockinette

yarn: 600[650] yards light fingering yarn

grey hat: Swans Island . Certified Organic Merino Fingering . charcoal

blue hat: Ella Rae . Lace Merino . 106 & Lorna’s Laces . Shepherd Sock . natural

needles: two 16″ circular needles size 3mm, or size to achieve gauge

tools: stitch marker, tapestry needle

note: the grey version, is slightly smaller than the pattern calls for.  i only used one skein of yarn, but you would actually require two to knit to the correct size.

So of course it got made into a knitting project bag.

This little guy is my favorite!

Can’t wait for the sunny weather ’round these parts!

That might add up to something big.

I’d been wanting to knit this pattern and try this yarn.  It’s very delicate but warm and light, using just under a skein.  I only did the cable panel on one side which was a lot faster and let me get it done in time (while cables look amazing, I am not much a fan of knitting them.)
