In 2013 I built a wood shed, it was made from freshly milled wood. My wood guy - meaning the guy who drops off the wood that I burn to heat my house - milled it and dropped it off along with the plans to build aforementioned woodshed. Well, after it was completed, I realized I had quite a bit of wood left over so I stored under the rear eve of the shed's roof. Well I decided to use it to build a rustic wood deck cooler thing. I've seen a few different variations of this on the ol' Pinterest and loved the idea. So I sketched out one of my own design and started building it.

The final product. It is really heavy.

The wood, having sat out for a year and a half, already had a nice patina. So I took a pocket knife and shaved down the corners with masterful precision, giving it a worn, rustic look.

This fall, after the cooler has served as a wonderful dispenser of mood altering beverages all summer, I will paint it then sand down the edges, restoring the worn look; only but in a more stark fashion.

After 4 hours of construction. Hey, I'm no master wood worker.

Here is the drain line to the brass faucet. Notice the silicone craftsmanship.

It took FOREVER to get the lid to line up with the cooler. Need to plan this better if I make another one.

Just need to cover up the nastiness on the inside of the lid. Probably going to go with a piece of tin with an old proverb about beer painted on it.

The faucet. it is Brass, but I painted it. Wanted only black and silver hardware.
