As promised, here’s the next handful of hotness! I’m so pleased to show you these next few photos. It’s been a crazy week at the studio–you know how life tends to get in the way of things you need to get done? It’s kinda like that.

va fashion week kickoff: part uno

Hello robert west fans! Have I got pictures for you! We attended the VA Fashion Week kickoff at Hotel Roanoke just a few blocks from our studio Monday evening and I can’t even begin to describe just how much fun we had there. Not only did we get several fantastic shots, we were able to meet some of the nicest (not to mention prettiest) girls in the area. Several of the ladies have their sights set on becoming runway models and boy, did they WORK IT out there! Their confidence was inspiring and it was easy to see how much fun they were having strutting their stuff.

Our girl Alyce was actually the intern who coordinated the entire event that evening. She, along with V Magazine for Women Fashion Editor Chris Wilmer, put together a great show that incorporated dresses from our very own Bride’s House, as well as David’s Bridal, and–believe it!–Project Runway Season 3 designer Jonathan Kayne’s new line. (As a seasoned viewer of this show, this let me feel closer to Heidi Klum) The show will continue to tour for the rest of the week around Virginia; be sure to check out their website for more information on how you can see the show for yourself!

We got so many great photos that I’m splitting this entry up into two parts–make sure to check back very soon for the rest of them because I’m so incredibly excited about how they turned out. We were so lucky to be a part of this event and be able to meet so many beautiful, smart, confident girls and I really hope that we can work with you all in the future! Keep working that magic, ladies, because you’ve got us inspired!

trash the dress!

Interested in having a “trash the dress” shoot? Come to robert west photography! We took this shot this past Saturday afternoon. You may recognize Alyce as our model again, along with David the groom. We really love everything about this photo–it all ties together so very well, from the colors to the car down to her frustrated new wife expression! (Analogy for marriage? Nah!) This may be one of my very favorites that Robert’s ever done and I can’t wait to have another trash the dress shoot! So if you’re interested in having some fun with your dress after the big day, let us know and we can schedule a great day for you to come out and have some fun. And don’t worry, your dress more than likely won’t get THAT messy–those handprints on Alyce’s dress aren’t as real as you think.

This is also going to be in the November issue of Bella Magazine for the Bride’s House ad so make sure to pick up a copy as soon as it’s out!

wedding: rachael + adam

Hello again friends! I wanted to do another quick post on a great couple from back in June. Rachael and Adam are both Hokies (Virginia Tech grads for those of you not familiar with sports mascots). They were married at Amrhein’s Wine Cellars in Bent Mountain, Virginia. It was early in the wine season and they were so lucky to have a beautiful day. Perfect wedding weather!

Included are both their engagement shot taken in Roanoke, as well as their absolutely gorgeous wedding album cover shot. Rachael stole her dad’s hat and used it for inspiration within the shoot during the reception. You can just see how much fun they were having! And finally, I wanted to share the sparkler exit they had because it was so fun! We have a few more shots from their wedding that I’d like to post soon, but for now, here’s a sneak peek!

Alyce is our newest model with robert west photography. Not only is she on our brand new business cards, but she’s also being featured in our ad with Bella Magazine that you can check out starting next month. Thanks to the amazing Debbie Haynes over at Bride’s House we were able to have this great opportunity to show off our work. And why not? That gorgeous girl on our cards is also Debbie’s daughter! We are incredibly lucky to have such a fantastic relationship with Debbie and Bride’s House and I can’t even explain just how amazing it is to work with Alyce. Debbie, thanks for letting us borrow her–you’ve got such a great girl. She’s absolutely stunning, eager to learn, and incredibly sweet!

So, friends, here it is: our brand new model, also found on our business cards, in Bella Magazine, in Bride’s House on posters, and to be in future ads. Standing in front of the Wachovia Tower is our girl Alyce, vamping it up and looking so smokin’ it’s just ridiculous.

As you can see, the Robert West Photography blog is a slightly lacking right now. You know how it is-with a million things happening at once, sometimes one week becomes three weeks. Not only have we been covering our summer weddings and portraits, we’ve just finished moving into our new studio in downtown Roanoke–now the real fun is making everything fit into its perfect place!
The blog is getting a huge makeover in the next few days along with a website update. You can now find us on Facebook as well as Twitter! (Just check on the right side of this page for the links). So make sure to follow us for updates on Twitter and become a fan of our work.
And of course, please feel free to contact us with any questions or comments and we always love referrals. We are getting prepared for the onslaught of high school senior portraits, so make sure to call us and book your session before they are all gone! We also have a few weekends available in the fall and winter for weddings, so if you’re still searching for fabulous photographers (both in your area of VA and anywhere in the country!) be sure to check out our site and give us a call.
