Nothing dangerous, just some depression. It seems that depression is sort of common in returning veterans and the VA tells us to just ask for help. In the first case Matthew Corrigan telephoned what he believed to be the 'Military's Emotional Support Hotline' because he was depressed and had not slept for several days,"

"The number Corrigan called was in fact the National Suicide Hotline. When he stated that he was a veteran, he was asked if he had firearms, to which he said yes. He said nothing about being suicidal or using a firearm or threatening anyone. After a short conversation, Corrigan hung up, turned off the phone, took prescribed sleeping medication, and went to bed.

So, what does the government do? They send a SWAT team at 4:00 in the morning.

There were floodlights outside his front and back doors and an estimated 8 police officers in the back yard and 20 in the front yard.
"Corrigan turned on his phone and found that Officer Fischer of the 5th District was calling him, asking him to come out, which he did at about 4:50 a.m., locking the door behind him. He was handcuffed and put in the back of a SWAT truck.

One of the police officers asked him to let them into his apartment. He said they did not have consent to enter, they didn't have a warrant. So the officer stated: 'I don't have time to play this constitutional bullshit!' Really? What happened to the oath they swore to uphold and defend the Constitution? Don't have time to abide by the law?

"I don't have time to play this constitutional bullshit!" Let that sink in for a minute.

Corrigan says police took him to a VA hospital, broke his front door and entered his apartment without a warrant, where they confiscated his guns, vandalized his place and took his dog to an animal shelter.

A Explosives Ordinance Disposal (EOD) team, entered Corrigan's home without a warrant and searched for explosives," the complaint states. "The EOD team opened closed containers and used X-ray equipment to search closed containers.
"After the initial warrantless search, the EOD team brought in a dog to search for firearms. They seized 3 fire arms that were stored in cases that they tore the latches off of. They also seized all the ammo he had.

Corrigan says he spent three days in the VA hospital, because "having weapons pointed at him upon leaving his apartment triggered his PTSD hyper-vigilance and caused irregular heartbeat."
After he was released from the hospital and determined not to be a suicide risk, Corrigan says, police arrested him and put him in jail, where he remained for almost 2 weeks.
"When Corrigan returned to his apartment 16 days after being seized, he found that John Does I-XV had left the front door unlocked and unsecured, had left the electric stove on, had cut open every zipped bag, had dumped every box and drawer, had broken locked boxes from under the bed and the closet, and emptied shelves into piles in each room. All his tropical fish in his 150 gallon aquarium were dead."

It never does say what he was arrested for. Locked up for 16 days and his property destroyed just because he didn't feel good.

The second case involves a Navy Vet

The federal government broke a promise, according to the lawyer for a Navy veteran facing criminal firearms charges after he called for help on what is promoted as a confidential suicide prevention hotline.

The government alleges the former petty officer from Blacksburg committed four felonies by making a homemade gun using a pipe and a shotgun shell. OK, this is a crime, but he turned it over to police. Sean Duvall, a Persian Gulf War veteran, was despondent and contemplating suicide after being evicted from his apartment in June.

On June 8, Duvall called the Veterans Crisis Line, billed as a “confidential toll-free hotline” by the Department of Veterans Affairs. He explained he had a device for committing suicide and he “really needed help,” the motion read. He said he wanted to hand over the device for someone to safely dispose of it.

So the guy want's to do the right thing and he's asking for help. It starts out OK, until the feds step in.

Duvall gave the device to the police officer who responded, along with his backpack and what was to be a final note to his family.

The call for help was a success story for Duvall’s state of mind. He was released after a few days at a psychiatric hospital. According to his motion, he is now on medication and sees a counselor and a psychiatrist regularly. He has a new job and a new apartment.

The same call for help also brought trouble. Duvall first was charged with a misdemeanor – carrying a concealed weapon. Then the federal authorities stepped in.

Duvall now faces four federal felony charges with a possible punishment of 40 years in prison. All four charges are based on the one crude homemade shotgun. Duvall is accused of possessing an unlawful destructive device, possessing an unregistered firearm, manufacturing a destructive device and possessing a destructive device without a serial number.

There is no doubt that he did these things. He had no intention of doing anything with the improvised shotgun except commit suicide. He turned it in and now the government, the one he served, want to lock him up for 40 years. God Bless America.

Duvall’s lawyer, Randy V. Cargill with the Federal Public Defender’s Office in Roanoke, was blunt in asking a judge to dismiss the charges. “It is wrong to break a promise,” he wrote in the motion to dismiss.

Duvall never expected his call to the “confidential” hotline to be used against him by a prosecutor, Cargill said. “It is contrary to Congress’ express goal of helping veterans in need and encouraging them to get help without fear,” he wrote. “This is dishonorable; it is wrong; it is unfair; it shocks the conscience.”

The Department of Veterans Affairs defended its procedures in a written statement, but did not address whether its efforts might be hampered by the Duvall charges.

The V.A. noted it is permitted under law to disclose otherwise private information “when necessary to avert a serious and imminent threat to the health and safety of an individual or the public,” according to the statement provided by spokesperson Phil Budahn.

“Alternative solutions are always explored with the Veteran, and if none can be found that guarantee safety, local law enforcement is notified. At that point, the responder is trained to keep the Veteran engaged and safe. Once help arrives, responsibility for the situation is turned over to the local authorities. All policies and procedures of the Crisis Line are based on respecting callers’ rights of confidentiality,” the V.A. statement said.

Two mental health professionals involved in national discussions of suicide prevention for service members and veterans suggest Duvall’s prosecution could undermine prevention efforts.

The Va is always telling us to call for help. Of course if you do you face the possibility of going to jail. They ask if this is going to cause Veterans not to call for help. Of course it is. When agents of the government ransack you possessions and lock you up for no reason it's going to make the next one think about not calling.

All veterans are being treated like second class citizens and even terrorists under this administration. DHS sent out a report that if you are a Veteran and por-gun or have certain bumper-stickers on your vehicle you are to be watched. Even though we took a oath to support and defend the Constitution, we are suspects even before we do anything. Just because we might need a little help.

Two mental health professionals involved in national discussions of suicide prevention for service members and veterans suggest Duvall’s prosecution could undermine prevention efforts.

“Actions such as this only serve to compound the problem, fueling the impression that the essential networks are not there to help but, as in this case, punish and prosecute,” said University of Utah psychologist M. David Rudd, scientific director for the National Center for Veterans Studies.

Washington psychologist Alan L. Berman, president of the International Association of Suicide Prevention, agreed. “The threat of punishment will deter help-seeking, the very thing that Mr. Duvall did in calling the VA Crisis Line to begin with,” Berman said.

No kidding. After reading these to stories I know I would think twice about calling anyone. The young Veterans returning from the sandbox with PTSD are going to be treated like common criminals. They are having a hard enough time adjusting without the threat of being persecuted for something they haven't done thrown in the mix. And what about the ones that have lost body parts? Think they might have a little stress in their lives?

Throw into all of this the fact that even getting our benefits from the VA is a fight that can take months and even years. Giving truth to the saying "we are from the government and we're here to help.

FBI says paying for your morning coffee with cash a potential terrorist activity, urges coffee shop owners to report cash-paying customers to authorities

It seems that now, using legal tender dollar bills in this country is cause for concern.

From the article we learn;

Purchasing a cup of coffee using cash instead of a credit or debit card, using Google Maps to view photos of sporting event stadiums and large cities, and installing software to protect your internet privacy on your mobile phone -- these and many other mundane activities are now considered to be potential terrorist activities by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). And the agency is now distributing a new series of flyers as part of its new "Communities Against Terrorism" (CAT) program that urges shop owners and others to report such "suspicious" activity to authorities.

It seems they have a whole list of different businesses that should watch for "suspicious" people. You know the type, the ones using cash.

They finish the article with this;

A few years ago, this type of outlandish fear-mongering and Stasi-style spying on citizens would have been considered a crazy conspiracy theory by many. But today, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) with its "See Something, Say Something" campaign, the U.S. Transportation Security Administration's (TSA) "First Observer" citizen spying program, and the TSA's Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response" (VIPR) internal checkpoint force, together with the new FBI spying program, are making this police state nightmare in America a tangible reality

We've put all of these liberals in charge and this is what we get. DHS and TSA checking out bus stations and setting up roadblocks. And they have a proven track record. They have never found a terrorist, not one. I believe that this is all a prelude to the suspension of the November elections. Obama and his minions have the power and they don't want to give it up. So they cook up all of these "crazy ideas" to make us suspect everyone we come into contact with. Is your neighbor a terrorist?

They are going to push too far and too hard someday and then what are they going to do? Rush us all off into internment camps? Start trying to gun down innocent citizens in the street? They could have a problem getting anyone in Law enforcement or the military to do their bidding. We all took a oath to support and defend the Constitution. Yo9u are taught early on that you have no obligation to follow orders you feel are immoral or go against the Constitution.

I hope I'm wrong about the elections. I hope we elect a new President and send this current bunch of losers packing. It would be good for the country and good for those of us that still believe in the Constitution and rule of law.

Dave Gibson has a good article on Napolitano and her epic failure as head of DHS.

On Tuesday, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano spoke at the National Press Club in Washington D.C. and told the crowd that our current immigration laws were “sorely outdated and in need of revision.”

But, when an audience member asked what, specifically was wrong and in need of change, Napolitano could not give a clear answer.

She then went on to chastise Congress for failing to pass the DREAM Act which would give amnesty to millions of illegal aliens.

Obama can't get re-elected without several million illegals voting for him.

In her first year as head of the DHS, Janet Napolitano refused much-needed funds for her department, leveled unfounded accusations at veterans, accused conservatives of being potential terrorists, stopped worksite immigration enforcement, weakened the highly effective 287g program, and began her ongoing lobbying efforts for amnesty legislation.

And that was just in the first year. How in the world do idiots like this get in positions of power? Just the idea of calling veterans potential terrorists should have got her run out of the country.

During an April 2009 CNN interview, the woman charged with enforcing immigration laws, stated: “crossing the border [illegally] is not a crime per se.”

Oh? Try crossing illegally into Mexico and see what it gets you. You will end up in a cell awaiting deportation. This is the only country in the world that allows illegals to have jobs and not worry about being deported.

Napolitano claimed that the violence posed by the drug cartels has yet to affect this country. She took this stance, despite a 2009 FBI report which claimed that Mexican drug cartels were already operating in 230 U.S. cities.

Tell that to the Family of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, gunned down by drug traffickers in Arizona. The violence is on both sides of the border whether she sees it or not.

The Homeland Security Secretary has the responsibility of securing our borders and removing criminal aliens from our communities…The same criminal aliens who kill our neighbors in horrific drunk driving accidents, who poison our fellow citizens with drugs such as methamphetamine (80-90 percent now coming from Mexico) as well as those who take jobs from U.S. citizens during the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression.

For every illegal with a job, there is a American without one. This bullshit line about them doing jobs Americans won't do is just that, Bullshit. I've done a few jobs over the years I didn't like just to have income. If the illegals weren't taking the jobs, the wages wouldn't be suppressed.

This is one of the fine people that Obama has put in charge. They will allow Granny and children to be groped at the airport, yet Akmed gets a pass because it might be profiling. DHS and their offshoot TSA are useless. They both need to be disbanned and started over with someone that has a little common sense. Something that isn't too common in DC.

Teen After Being Knocked Off Bicycle: Cops

A 65-year-old man shot and killed a teenager after the boy and his friends knocked the man off his bicycle and tried to assault him, Pennsylvania authorities say.

According to the story, it's a clear case of self defense. Of course the Huffington Post writes a headline that makes it sound like he just started shooting. He was attacked by 3 younger, stronger youths and was receiving a beating.

Here's the full article

The comments are more than 50 to 1 in favor of what the older gent did. I understand it too. Since I have become disabled, I couldn't fight off one young strong teen. Let alone 3.

But the great Huffpo reporters don't tell us all the story'

Shooter was teens' third random victim Wednesday morning, officials say

Third time is a charm.

The teens knocked the man off his bicycle and onto the ground in their third random robbery attempt in about an hour's time, said Berks County District Attorney John Adams.

Adams said, the teens went into West Reading and assaulted an elderly man and another man before targeting the bicyclist.

Now there is a dead 16 year old. I feel bad for his family, but maybe if his family had taught him right from wrong, this might not have happened. I wonder if the one that's wounded learned anything? Or the one in jail? I do know one thing the wounded one learned, getting shot hurts.

It was only 2 weeks ago that a older gentleman was assaulted in Philadelphia and was nearly beaten to death. Beaten so bad his eye orbits were broken. 6 teens against 1 veteran with 1 eye. here.
He has a great take on SOPA and the sorry condition we have let the country fall into.

Read

I love this quote the best,

You didn’t care when the government decided it could spy on you without a warrant. You didn’t care when they started telling you what you could eat. You didn’t care when your kids’ education was turned into indoctrination. You didn’t care when they were more worried about military veterans than Islamic terrorists. You didn’t care when they spent so much money that our entire economic system may co…llapse. You didn’t care when they gave billions of your money to unions and corporations that were their political contributors. You didn’t care when inert cosmetic features on guns were felonies. You didn’t care when they made it a fucking crime to not have government approved health insurance.

All of these things were done in your name. On your behalf. To help you, protect you, take care of you. Each time you gave them more power and gave away more of your freedom. Each time you believed them when they said they were protecting you, or helping the less fortunate, or sticking it to “the rich” who “aren’t paying their fair share”.
Each time you applauded their efforts. Mocked those that were concerned. Called them uncaring or racist or alarmist or stupid. Each time you asked for more. You begged them to take care of you, protect you, right wrongs, enforce equality.

But now that your Internet porn and bit torrents are threatened, NOW you care?

Amen brother.

Time’s ‘Person of the Year’ is ‘The Protestor.’ Now, wait a minute, people. Nobody consulted me, but just for the record, my vote goes elsewhere–for US Border Patrol Agents Brian Terry and Jesus Diaz, and former Marine Sergeant and Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer. Why? Because each member of this three-man team put his life on the line to protect the rule of law, to uphold, not challenge it, and he did it not once, not twice, but every day he got up and went out to do his job. I’m thinking an attaboy or two might not be out of place.

This is a little long but it goes a long way in explaining the injustices done to these fine men.
You can go to the NAGR website and read about Newt the chameleon. Is this someone we really want to trust with our rights?

NAGR, the new kids on the block, sort of.

I just heard about this group recently. They have only been around since 2001. Their website is small but there is some good information on there.

Holder plays the race card.

Imagine that. The DOJ allows thousands of guns to be smuggled into Mexico and the people wanting answers are "racists". He had the audacity to say,

“This is a way to get at the president because of the way I can be identified with him,” Holder said, according to the Times. “Both due to the nature of our relationship and, you know, the fact that we’re both African-American.”

It doesn't seem to bother Obama and Holder that there are a few hundred Mexican citizens and 2 federal agents murdered with guns they supplied to the cartels.

There could possibly be a third law officer murdered by F&F guns in this case. When they trace this gun, will it go back to Holder and friends?

The scumbag was killed after he came out shooting. Deputy Coleman died at the hospital shortly after the attack. The report said he was wearing a bullet proof vest. The problem with those is the fact that they will not stop a rifle round. They are designed to stop lower velocity pistol rounds. He left a wife and 2 small children.

Mittens is a flip flopper of the worst kind. WE gun rights people call them FUDDs, as in Elmer Fudd. Elmer never used anything except a double barrel shotgun. They can also be called BUT's. their statement of I support the 2nd Amendment but.....here
And Mittens is one of the worst. while Governor of Mass. He signed one of the toughest assault weapons bans in the country. Yet he doesn't seem to know what a assault weapon is. The main feature of a assault weapon is it's capacity for SELECT FIRE. If it won't shoot full auto, it's not a assault rifle.

Bloomberg and Kelly want to irradiate you in the name of gun control

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – The NYPD is stepping up their war against illegal guns, with a new tool that could detect weapons on someone as they walk down the street.

Police, along with the U.S. Department of Defense, are researching new technology in a scanner placed on police vehicles that can detect concealed weapons.

The bad part is, some of the sheep are all for it;

“I think it’s good. People will be safer and it will be a safer environment,” Jessica Ramos said.

“If it’s going to make us safer as citizens I’m okay with that,” said Lori Sampson of Lake Ronkonkoma.

OK ladies, get a copy of the Constitution and read Amendment #4. That's the one about being secure in your papers and person. Need a warrant for searches, little things like probable cause. You are both liberal idiot pisswits.

Ben Franklin, being the smart man that he was, once said "Those that would give up liberty for safety, deserve neither. Is it any surprise that this is being cooked up in Bloomberg's paradise. A place where Donald Trump can get a permit to carry a concealed weapon but people like me can't. Bloomberg you will recall is half the brains and most of the money behind Mayors against <strike>illegal</strike> all guns. You couldn't pay me to live in that shithole. And it's only going to get worse.

One last small itm. Have some fun with friends or even people you don't like. send them this link. All in good fun.

Homicide Drops, Gun Ownership Rises, Anti-Gunners Wrong Again

BELLEVUE, WA – -(Ammoland.com)- This week’s revelation by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that homicide is no longer among the leading causes of death in the United States – at a time when gun ownership is at an all-time high – shows that the gun ban lobby has been wrong, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today

read

This really makes the gun haters mad. Their mantra of more guns=more violence turns out to be a fantasy. There's perfume farting unicorns in their world.

More good news.
here

Intruder shot to death by 82-year-old homeowner

It seems some scumbag woke the old guy up at 6 in the morning armed with a hammer and screwdriver while wearing a ski mask. The gent took his trusty .45 and shot the intruder right through the door. Hitting him and he bled out pretty quick.

The gun haters, in typical fashion, are vilifying the old guy. They start with the fact he shot through the door. OK, so? A lot of baack doors have windows in them. They weren't there so how do they know. Then they start the "what if's". Typical stuff like what if it was the paper boy, neighbor, relative etc. My neighbors come to the font door and knock. The paper boy barely steps into the yard. When relatives vist, I know they are coming.

The gun haters are trying to make the scumbag the victim. He was shot so they have blood to dance in. This is what they do. It doesn't matter that the guy had a hammer. If he had beat the old guy to death, or stabbed him with the screwdriver, oh well. Deaths other than by gunfire do not count.

In other good news.

here

Father of Four Shoots Intruder Armed With Hammer

What is it with scumbags and hammers.

39-year-old Adan Duran says the intruder first broke into his truck, took a hammer out of his own tool box and tried to break in through the garage. When he couldn't, he went to the front of the house where he was confronted by two dogs that bit him.

Duran says he attacked the dogs and kept going.

He used the hammer to break the living room window, where Duran was waiting.

"When I see him come to me, I shoot at him," said Duran.

He fired one round from his .357 magnum revolver in an effort to protect his four children and his wife, who were all home.

Goof for him. No charges will be filed against Duran, deputies say, in this case, it was legal for him to shoot the person who broke into his home and threatened to hurt him and his family.

And this was in anti-gun Kalifornia. The scumbag lived and since he's in Kalifornia he probably won't spend much time in prison. Kalifornia is releasing over 40,000 convicts so they can take out their aggression on the innocent people. This is what happens when the state spends much more than they take in. Here's a little more blood for the Bradyites to dance in.

In a recent Register article entitled Unbelievable’ Rise in Weapons Permits, it was disclosed that over 94,000 Iowans had applied for and received non-professional permits to carry weapons. He seemed to be surprised by these numbers. I was surprised too, I thought it should have been higher. Of course the December numbers should be in and we could be over 100,000.

In today's article, the writer states that he only carried a few times and decided it wasn't for him. That's his decision and I'm fine with that. I don't believe anyone that is "uncomfortable" with carrying should. That is how mistakes get made. He also tells us that his wife is very anti gun and refuses to allow a gun in the house. Now if he goes to the range to shoot, where does he keep his guns?

Also from the article we get this little gem;
I had lunch with a couple of social activist friends. As I sat down, one of them asked, “So, what I want to know is whether you’re packing!”
It's no ones business if someone is "packing". The whole point of concealed carry is the fact that no one knows.

A while back there was a Cityview article listing the names of all those with permits to carry weapons in Polk County. I was on it. Along with everyone else in Polk county that has a permit. We are going to try to get the law changed so that they cannot publish the names. He stated that his "activist" friends had seen his name in the paper.

He stress3es that people need training and I agree. You should get all of the training you possibly can. However, to demand training to exercise a Constitution right is wrong. Any responsible gun owner will seek out the best training they can.

My response to the article (below) pretty much says it all.

I too have a permit to carry. I carry every time I leave the house with very few exceptions. The main one being when I have a appointment at the VA. Because the government is afraid of honest law abiding citizens. Businesses that have no gun signs aren't a problem. If they don't want me in their store, fine. There are plenty others that will accept my money. I have trained for years in all types of firearms use and I am pretty proficient in the use of all the weapons I have trained with. I also have the resolve it takes to pull the trigger. I was a victim one time and it won't be happening again any time soon. If anyone chooses not to carry, that is their right and good for them. I however will not trade my safety for a voice on a telephone. Calling 911 is fine but remember a couple things. The police are a reactionary force. They only show up after the fact, make a report and clean up the mess. Second, the SCOTUS has ruled in many cases that the police have no duty to protect anyone. Their duty is to protect "the public at large". The chances of a cop being there when a crime is committed are more than slim, they are nonexistent. Some of us take responsibility for our own safety. I always advise anyone thinking of carrying to get as much training as they can. It's the responsible thing to do

Okla. Woman Shoots, Kills Intruder. This young lady lost her husband to cancer on Christmas day. On New Years day 2 armed intruders broke in probably looking for the pain meds that cancer patients are known to use. Luckily it ended badly for one of the scumbags.

The headline on the original story says the 911 operator "gave permission" for her to shoot the intruder. This is not the whole truth. What the operator said was,

"I can't tell you that you can do that but you do what you have to do to protect your baby,"

21 minutes on the phone and over 40 minutes before the deputies arrived. Living in the country has it's advantages, but quick law enforcement response isn't one of them.

Home invasions seem to be becoming more and more prevalent in today's society. Thanks to our catch and release justice system, home invaders are being slapped on the wrist and being sent right back out. Out into our neighborhoods to continue their ways.

Since the Supreme Court has ruled in many cases that the police have no duty to protect anyone, it is up to each citizen to provide for their own defense. How you chose to defend yourself is a choice only you can make. My choices have been made and if one of them shows up here, I hope he prayed before he gets here.

It is always a good idea to review the rules from time to time. These rules should be hard and fast for anyone that carries a gun. They could very well save your life.

Jeff Cooper's Rules of Gun Safety

RULE I: ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

RULE II: NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY

RULE III: KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

RULE IV: BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET

RULE I: ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

There are no exceptions. Do not pretend that this is true. Some people and organizations take this rule and weaken it;e.g. "Treat all guns as if they were loaded." Unfortunately, the "as if" compromises the directness of the statement by implying that they are unloaded, but we will treat them as though they are loaded. No good! Safety rules must be worded forcefully so that they are never treated lightly or reduced to partial compliance.

All guns are always loaded - period!

This must be your mind-set. If someone hands you a firearm and says, "Don't worry, it's not loaded," you do not dare believe him. You need not be impolite, but check it yourself. Remember, there are no accidents, only negligent acts. Check it. Do not let yourself fall prey to a situation where you might feel compelled to squeal, "I didn't know it was loaded!"

RULE II: NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY

Conspicuously and continuously violated, especially with pistols, Rule II applies whether you are involved in range practice, daily carry, or examination. If the weapon is assembled and in someone's hands, it is capable of being discharged. A firearm holstered properly, lying on a table, or placed in a scabbard is of no danger to anyone. Only when handled is there a need for concern. This rule applies to fighting as well as to daily handling. If you are not willing to take a human life, do not cover a person with the muzzle. This rule also applies to your own person. Do not allow the muzzle to cover your extremities, e.g. using both hands to reholster the pistol. This practice is unsound, both procedurally and tactically. You may need a free hand for something important. Proper holster design should provide for one-handed holstering, so avoid holsters which collapse after withdrawing the pistol. (Note: It is dangerous to push the muzzle against the inside edge of the holster nearest the body to "open" it since this results in your pointing the pistol at your midsection.) Dry-practice in the home is a worthwhile habit and it will result in more deeply programmed reflexes. Most of the reflexes involved in the Modern Technique do not require that a shot be fired. Particular procedures for dry-firing in the home will be covered later. Let it suffice for now that you do not dry-fire using a "target" that you wish not to see destroyed. (Recall RULE I as well.)

Rule III: KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule III is violated most anytime the uneducated person handles a firearm. Whether on TV, in the theaters, or at the range, people seem fascinated with having their finger on the trigger. Never stand or walk around with your finger on the trigger. It is unprofessional, dangerous, and, perhaps most damaging to the psyche, it is klutzy looking. Never fire a shot unless the sights are superimposed on the target and you have made a conscious decision to fire. Firing an unaligned pistol in a fight gains nothing. If you believe that the defensive pistol is only an intimidation tool - not something to be used - carry blanks, or better yet, reevaluate having one around. If you are going to launch a projectile, it had best be directed purposely. Danger abounds if you allow your finger to dawdle inside the trigger guard. As soon as the sights leave the target, the trigger-finger leaves the trigger and straightens alongside the frame. Since the hand normally prefers to work as a unit - as in grasping - separating the function of the trigger-finger from the rest of the hand takes effort. The five-finger grasp is a deeply programmed reflex. Under sufficient stress, and with the finger already placed on the trigger, an unexpected movement, misstep or surprise could result in a negligent discharge. Speed cannot be gained from such a premature placement of the trigger-finger. Bringing the sights to bear on the target, whether from the holster or the Guard Position, takes more time than that required for moving the trigger finger an inch or so to the trigger.

RULE IV: BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET

Know what it is, what is in line with it, and what is behind it. Never shoot at anything you have not positively identified. Be aware of your surroundings, whether on the range or in a fight. Do not assume anything. Know what you are doing.

SUMMARY:

Make these rules a part of your character. Never compromise them. Improper gunhandling results from ignorance and improper role modeling, such as handling your gun like your favorite actor does. Education can cure this. You can make a difference by following these gunhandling rules and insisting that those around you do the same. Set the example. Remember our service men and women during the Christmas season.

TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS,
HE LIVED ALL ALONE,
IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE MADE OF
PLASTER AND STONE.

I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY
WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE,
AND TO SEE JUST WHO
IN THIS HOME DID LIVE.

I LOOKED ALL ABOUT,
A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE,
NO TINSEL, NO PRESENTS,
NOT EVEN A TREE.

NO STOCKING BY MANTLE,
JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND,
ON THE WALL HUNG PICTURES
OF A FAR DISTANT LAND.

WITH MEDALS AND BADGES,
AWARDS OF ALL KINDS,
A SOBER THOUGHT
CAME THROUGH MY MIND.

FOR THIS HOUSE WAS DIFFERENT,
IT WAS DARK AND DREARY,
I FOUND THE HOME OF A SOLDIER,
ONCE I COULD SEE CLEARLY.

THE SOLDIER LAY SLEEPING,
SILENT, ALONE,
CURLED UP ON THE FLOOR
IN THIS ONE BEDROOM HOME.

THE FACE WAS SO GENTLE,
THE ROOM IN SUCH DISORDER,
NOT HOW I PICTURED
A UNITED STATES SOLDIER.

WAS THIS THE HERO
OF WHOM I’D JUST READ?
CURLED UP ON A PONCHO,
THE FLOOR FOR A BED?

I REALIZED THE FAMILIES
THAT I SAW THIS NIGHT,
OWED THEIR LIVES TO THESE SOLDIERS
WHO WERE WILLING TO FIGHT.

SOON ROUND THE WORLD,
THE CHILDREN WOULD PLAY,
AND GROWNUPS WOULD CELEBRATE
A BRIGHT CHRISTMAS DAY.

THEY ALL ENJOYED FREEDOM
EACH MONTH OF THE YEAR,
BECAUSE OF THE SOLDIERS,
LIKE THE ONE LYING HERE.

I COULDN’T HELP WONDER
HOW MANY LAY ALONE,
ON A COLD CHRISTMAS EVE
IN A LAND FAR FROM HOME.

THE VERY THOUGHT
BROUGHT A TEAR TO MY EYE,
I DROPPED TO MY KNEES
AND STARTED TO CRY.

THE SOLDIER AWAKENED
AND I HEARD A ROUGH VOICE,
‘SANTA DON’T CRY,
THIS LIFE IS MY CHOICE;

I FIGHT FOR FREEDOM,
I DON’T ASK FOR MORE,
MY LIFE IS MY GOD,
MY! COUNTRY, MY CORPS.’

THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER
AND DRIFTED TO SLEEP,
I COULDN’T CONTROL IT,
I CONTINUED TO WEEP.

I WEPT FOR HOURS,
SO SILENT AND STILL
AND WE BOTH SHIVERED
FROM THE COLD NIGHT’S CHILL.

I DIDN’T WANT TO LEAVE
ON THAT COLD, DARK, NIGHT,
THIS GUARDIAN OF HONOR
SO WILLING TO FIGHT.

Attention Lamestream Media...

To all of those “reporters” and pundits at ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, CNN, the New York Times and all the other Times, the Boston Globe, the Spokane Spokesman-Review, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Arizona Republic, all of the Tribunes, Stars, and Ledgers;

Let me make something perfectly clear: The NRA is not the Gun Lobby. Neither is the NSSF, nor the GOA, nor even The Firearms Coalition, nor the hundreds of grassroots and activist organizations or the thousands of local gun clubs. I am the Gun Lobby. Whenever you talk about the Gun Lobby, you are talking about me. All those groups and entities work for me, but they are not me, and they do not necessarily speak for me. My power does not derive from my personal wealth nor financial support from the industry that serves me. My power comes from the fact that I am one of tens of millions who understand that individuals have the right and the obligation to protect themselves from criminal assault, and that no one — not the government, not the media nor anyone else, has the right to decide what, when, where, or how I responsibly exercise that right and obligation. We – each of us – are the Gun Lobby, and we’re not going away, We’re not backing down, and we’re not giving in – not one little bit.

It infuriates me when I hear “reporting” and editorializing about “the powerful Gun Lobby” and “the intransigent Gun Lobby” and sometimes even “the evil Gun Lobby,” as if we were a handful of rich fat cats in safari shirts sitting in a mahogany-lined room full of leather, stuffed animals, and cigar smoke plotting how to increase our profits by increasing crime. We are the people! We are the 80 to 90 million people in this country who own guns and the tens of millions more who do not own guns, but fully support our right to do so.

Unlike the anti-rights groups like the Violence Policy Center and the Brady Campaign, we do not get the bulk of our money from wealthy do-gooder endowments like the Joyce Foundation or wealthy individuals like Mike Bloomberg. I am the Gun Lobby and I get my money by working for it in factories, on construction sites, in small businesses, stores, shops, farms and ranches. I pull the money I use to support or oppose candidates and to pay my professional advocates, not from tax dollars or union dues, but from my own back pocket.

Unlike my opponents, I do not derive my power from friends in the media or from minions in state and federal offices. I derive my power from the volunteers I can muster and the votes I can deliver. I want little from politicians — mostly to be left in peace. If a politician disturbs my peace, I will do my best to fire them and hire someone else to do the job. That’s not bullying, or threatening, or undue influence, that’s the American ideal as expressed in the First Amendment — Americans expressing their will and support for the Constitution with our individual votes.

Unlike the Bradys and Bloombergs who advocate for regulation, limits, bans, and government controls over law-abiding citizens, I do not advocate government making any decision for any responsible individual. I do not advocate the arming of teachers or the arming of students, or the arming of anyone. Instead I oppose their being forcibly disarmed, and defend the right of all responsible people to make their own choices. I do not assume that thoughtful, responsible people will become heartless killers or mindless idiots because a gun is present. I reject the notion that “the trigger pulls the finger,” as some of my opponents have suggested. I trust responsible adult citizens to be responsible adults, and that trust has been proven consistently everywhere it has been given. I reject the idea that a sign on a wall or a policy in an employee handbook can, will, or ever has stopped someone intent on murder and mayhem from carrying out their criminal acts. To the contrary, I believe that such acts can and have been prevented and curtailed by responsible citizens who had the means and were willing to place themselves in harm’s way for the sake of others. I believe that it is wrong to disarm such people based on their job or where they happen to be.

I am the Gun Lobby. I am deeply rooted in the ideals and principles of this great nation. I am a true American and a true grass roots movement, not like the externally funded, Astroturf organizations that oppose me. Certainly there are honorable and committed individuals who truly believe that guns are the problem, that guns cause crime and that giving the State a monopoly on violence is the key to establishing a peaceful and safe society. I know that those people are wromg.

I am many, diverse, and have varying levels of knowledge and understanding, but I am unified by a single individual truth: that no one has the right to make me helpless in the face of violence to myself, my family, my community, or my country.
Leonard, Political Director of Georgia Gun Owners].

The government knows I own guns. They don't know what kind or how many. They don't need to know. They don't need my fingerprints, thumb print or DNA. Newt needs to figure out what "Shall not be Infringed" means.

I wouldn't trust this lying scumbag to be dog catcher. The sad thing is, Romney is no better when it comes to our right to bear arms. He signed a particularly nasty "assault weapons" ban when he was Governor. He claims now that he supports the 2nd Amendment. Sorry Willard, we don't trust you.
The mindset is that firearms are inherently dangerous and must always be handled with care. Handlers are taught to treat firearms with respect for their destructive capabilities, and strongly discouraged from playing or toying with firearms, a common cause of accidents.

The rules of gun safety follow from this mindset.

Four Rules introduced by Colonel Jeff Cooper, which are:

1. All guns are always loaded.
2. Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target.
4. Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.

From the Des Moines Register we get these 5 incidents of hunters either shooting themselves or someone else.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources reported Tuesday night that Dalton Hicks, 20, was shot in the throat with a deer slug around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday south of Montezuma in Poweshiek County.

The shooter was aiming at a running deer. He violated rule 4.

Michael Ziemann, 36, accidentally shot himself in his right leg with a handgun.

Violated rule 2. I've hunted with a handgun before and I don't know how he did this.

Thomas S. Burns, 38, of Waterloo was shot while deer hunting at the Prairie Ridge area on Rathbun Lake in Appanoose County. Burns was hunting with a group of 21 hunters when one of the other hunters in his party shot at a running deer, hitting Burns in the midsection with a 12-gauge shotgun slug.

There's that pesky rule 4 again.

Benjamin Parker, 35, of Grinnell shot himself in the right foot with a deer slug northeast of Braddyville in Page County. His gun reportedly became entangled in some bags and discharged.

Rule one. That and carrying anything other than a loaded gun is just unsafe. If you are going to carry a gun, you should have nothing else in your hands.

Ryan Mills, 25, of Altoona was shot in the right thigh. Officials said Mills was blocking in a hunting party of about 12 people when a deer ran between him and other hunters in the group. The slug passed through a deer, striking Mills in the leg.

There's that rule 4 thing again.

Two of the examples people were hunting in large groups. I've always be of the opinion that driving deer toward someone waiting on them isn't hunting. I go with a friend and we find a nice spot and sit under a tree or in a portable blind. Where is the sport in shooting a deer that is running from your buddies. I've seen more white tails going away than I have shot, but the ones that I did get just made them that much better.

Study the rules. learn then, love them, live them. Being shot isn't fun. I'd rather spend my hunting time sitting out in the woods and watching the deer run away.

Simmance, a leader of Occupy Buffalo, told several media outlets that he served as many as three tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. Not only that, but he also claims to have been so severely injured by an RPG while in combat in Afghanistan, that he only has 10 years left to live. Army service records, however, show a very different story, reporting that Simmance was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington for three years and left active-duty in January 2001 — before the September 11 attacks.

I've meet a few of these posers before. They run down to the BX and buy some medals and think that makes them big war heroes. I spent just shy of 4 years in the Marines. Never once did I think of "embellishing" my service record. I spent some time with a line unit, 4th battalion 11t5h regiment. A artillery unit at 29 palms. I didn't go into combat. It was also one of the times I really enjoyed what I was doing. I was a radio operator/wireman. Our days consisted mostly of sitting around the comm shack and doing maintenance on radios and field phones. Pretty boring but necessary stuff.

This guy though, didn't even know enough geography to know where he supposedly was. According to the story he was in the "Valley of Elah". in Afghanistan. Except there is no such place. It was a pretty good Tommy Lee Jones Movie though. It's also the valley where David fought Goliath.

He also inflated his rank to Staff Sargent. Does that mean I can tell people I was a Captain? I always thought that was a cool rank. High enough to have some power and low enough to stay out of the really big trouble.

From the story we get this;

Simmance also did not earn any medals or awards that would indicate service in an overseas combat zone, Army records show.

When The News asked Simmance how to reconcile his statements with his Army record, he insisted the records are incomplete.

The military is fastidious about their record keeping. They have people that their only job is to make sure the records are up to date. If you blow your nose, someone somewhere is writing it down. This turd wouldn't know the truth if it bit him in the ass. Just who is he trying to impress anyway? Other of the flea bag crowd?

I will keep no exaggerating my service and honor the ones that have served in combat. Young men and women that deserve our respect. They are the true heroes, not this idiot that has to lie to his occupy buddies to try and get their respect. He should be occupying a jail cell.

Samuel L. Jackson puts the blame for gun violence where it belongs, on the criminals. The gun haters have for years been trying to blame the guns. Guns are inanimate objects. They are a tool that can be used for good and bad alike. Over 6 million people in this country have a permit to carry. These are law abiding citizens that have taken responsibility for their safety. We know that the police cannot be there to protect us. Criminals don't bother with such legalities as permits or fill out a form when the buy a gun. That's why they are called criminals. Don't blame guns for crime, blame the criminals that commit them.

Every gun-hating asshat should be made to listen to this 911 call. The only thing that saved this woman's life was the gun in her hand. The stalker had 6 police complaints filed against him. Protective orders aren't worth the paper they are written on. Calling 911 will get help to you in a few minutes. The intruder will get to you in a few seconds. It's your choice, be a victim or be a survivor.
Chances are you think of a man that has seen combat in some capacity. Guadalcanal, Normandy, Bastogne, The Frozen Chosin, Pork Chop Hill, Khe Sanh, Hill 867, Ia Drang, Grenada, Panama, Afghanistan, Iraq…all of these places evoke a mental image of men in combat.

He was a Marine, Police Officer and lastly a B.O.R.T.A.C. Border Patrol Agent who gave the ultimate sacrifice protecting our borders here in Arizona.

Although I have never been a police officer or Border Patrol agent, I was a Marine. That makes Brian Terry my brother. The fact that he was also from Michigan just makes the bond that much tighter.

You can read the entire Brian here: http://www.rememberbrianterry.com/

On December 14, 2010, Brian was conducting operations as a member of the Border Patrol Tactical Unit in Nogales, Arizona. Brian and his team were targeting a “rip crew” who seek out to rob and assault drug runners. When Brian and his team encountered the 5 individuals in the “Peck Well” area near Rio Rico, Arizona shots were fired and Brian was shot in the lower back and mortally wounded during the exchange of gunfire and succumbed to his death on December 15, 2010.

Murdered by drug mules smuggling their crap into our country. The weapons found at the scene were tied to a ATF operation known as Fast & Furious. Guns that were allowed to be smuggled across the border to arm the cartels with American weapons. Agent Terry's life was wasted on a agenda. I pray that there will be justice for Agent Terry and for Agent Jamie Zapata and the hundreds of Mexican citizens murdered by our government.
