Swedish Cup Hallstavik

This weekend we had a swedish cup at my home track in Hallstavik. I was feeling confident coming in to the weekend even though I haven’t prepared for the race with training and such. Racing in elit was so fun this weekend. We had 2 full races and racing was so close, one mistake and you where out. I made it to both finals qualifing as 3rd from my race. But it was really close both days.

Saturdays final I was really confident and ready for. I was just a little late out of the gate and my gameplan was smashed. I was in a good position into the first turn and made a move for 3rd on the inside but the guy infront slipped down on me and I lost my speed. I finished 6th in the end.

On Sunday I was feeling really good before the final until I was on the gate. I wasn’t in at all and it showed fast. I was okay out of the gate and when the racing starting to get tight on the first straight I backed out and braked, finishing last. I don’t know what happened to me but it really sucked and I was so disappointed with myself.

It was my last race for this season and now I’m looking forward to some time off from my bike and just rest before it’s time to start preparing for next year. This has been my best season ever and it’s a great feeling to during the training for next year. I know I can perform now!

Relaxing

It’s been nice to be home for a change, just relax and not have to think about trainings and such. The weather was really bad the first week but it’s slowly getting better again so now I can start spending some time at the golf course getting my handicap down.

This last week we’ve also spent lots of time at the track preparing it for the swedish cup this coming weekend. I think it’s going to be a good race if the weather holds up, rain is never fun to race in…

The last days in South Africa went by really fast. On monday we did some visiting in Durban which was fun and on tuesday we went on a safari. It was really cool and we saw lots of african animals like Giraffes, hippos, antelopes, zebras and so on… Then on wednesday we started our trip home and the flights went by really fast, the thing that felt long was the car ride home from France. It took longer than planned because we had to stop and switch driver alot because we where both dead. Both we made it home in one piece on friday afternoon. Would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to everybody on the trip for making it a really good one!

Now I’m on a bit of a break from everything. I’m not going to train for a month, during the next 2 weeks however I will just ride on the club trainings to keep my riding going until the next swedish cup in 2 weeks at my home track. Then after that I’m going to take 2 weeks completly off before I start preparing for next year!

World number 7!

What a crazy day… Things started of with a practice that once again sucked. I did nothing good during it but when the race started I was killing it. I was really comfortable in my motos winning the first one and leading the two others only to save some energy and get passed at the line.

The quarter is a story by itself… I was in lane 7. It was a crash and some trouble with some American riders that missed their races. I’m just chilling with my foot down and awaiting a green flag. All of a sudden I hear the start command and the guy is still in the middle of the track and I’m not ready at all. I start screaming but nobody cares and I fucked my gate, not sure if we would race or not I took it easy after the gate but the race was on… Result? I’m dead last and super angry and I do a crazy first straight and ends up 2nd into the first turn. I kept my 2nd place all the way over the finish line but was super pissed about everything. But I made it to the semis and I was really nervous before it. I had lane 5 and did a good gate and a really good first straight (like all day) and I’m 2nd in the first turn. I try to relax and not mess it up like in 20″ and until the 3rd straight everything’s fine. I didn’t nail my straight and 2 guys passed my and I was super stressed in 4th. But I finished 4th and made it to my first world final!!! I was so freaking happy and all my friends here to, it was great.

Before the final I was all calm, not nervous what so ever and just ready to race. I got lane 3 between two really good starters. I was just a tin bit late and I got cut of right away. I was in 8th and could charge that first straight. Then in the first turn one of the riders hit the swatch barrier on the inside and sent it on the track infront of me. I braked and slid 180°, and my race was over… A bit dissapointed about how the final turned out but SUPER HAPPY about my first ever world final!!

It was a great day for us with all of the riders (3) in 17-24 making the final and then we got 3 more finals during the day and 2 podiums. Now we’re celabrating it with a nice buffé dinner!

The words are over and it’s been one of the best worlds I’ve ever been to. The organisation did a fantastic job putting this together and the UCI built a superb track, I’m already looking forward to next year in Copenhagen and during next year I’ll be riding with number 7 on my cruiser. It all feels like a dream!

Friday race day

This morning was super cold and after a bad practice before the race I found my self riding so good all day! I had a super good first straight and was controlling the race. I finished 3-3-4 in my motos I was first in the races but stopped after the 2nd turn to save energi. Since the computer chooses your place randomly on the gate it doesn’t matter which place you get. We had 1/8 in 17-24 and I got lane 1 in mine. I had a good gate and was 2nd down the first straight and until the 3rd straight where I got passed by 1 guy and finished 3rd. In the 1/4 and was in lane 5 and had a perfect gate. I was leading but didn’t do a good job between the double and the tripple so I was in 2nd. THen on the second straight I flat landed the first double and saw everybody pass by… I tried to come back but it was game over!

I’m really happy with the way I rode today but I’m also really dissapointed that I didn’t make it further because I really could today. But that’s the sport… I’ve got a new shot on sunday tough during the cruisers!

Wednesdays practice and thursday

Had our second training session here in beautiful south africa yesterday. What a difference it was from tuesday. I did a much much better training and stopped feeling really good. I have a good first straight and track just need to focus on my gate on friday to be perfect for the race. The weather was great and actually a bit hot for me… But it’s going to be better for the race tomorrow.

Today I’ve spent all day at the track watching the kids ride and watching the junior and elite training. It got really cold during the end so it wasn’t really that fun after the end of the 3h with trainings… I bought some nice merchandise today too which was cool.

Tomorrow it’s race time and I can’t wait. It’s going to be a early morning with training starting at 8 and then the race starting at 9. Let’s go!

First update from south africa!

We found a internet connection at a hotel close by so now I think I’ll be able to put some updates on here regularly. No pictures unforunatly because the connection, i think, is waaay to slow!

The trip went well. Me missed our connection in south africa but it was easily fixed. we just arrived abit later than planned.

South africa is really nice and we have a nice place to stay. THe weather is cold (10°) during the night and then really warm (25°) during the day. The track is okay once you get used to it. We had our first training today and I did it on my cruiser. Didn’t feel so good on the cruiser itself so it was hard to do something good on this technical track. I did 2 laps on my 20″ at the end and felt much better right away. Tomorrow we have another training session and I’ll get back tomorrow with some more info!

The bags are packed, almost!

Pretty much everything is packed up and ready to go. It’s just the last minute stuff remaining that will be packed down tomorrow morning. We did some gym this afternoon and that’s what I’ve done besides packing today. It went well and I’m feeling confident for next weekend!

Traveling will start tomorrow and here’s the plan:

Lyon-Paris

Paris-Johannesburg

Johannesburg-Durban

Then from Durban it’s about an hours drive to Pietermaritzburg were the race is held. I’m so looking forward to this trip and can’t wait for it to start. It’s going to be awesome!

I’ve got absolutely no idea if we’ll have internet while being over there so we’ll see if I can post some updates or not. Hopefully I can!

Slow day

Today has been a slow day. I’ve run out of things to do and the weather hasn’t exactly been the best today either… On the photo you can see where I’ve spent most of my day exploring the internet and watching a few mythbusters episodes. The plan was to train this evening but I’m not sure it’s going to happen with the rain that’s poring down outside. And let’s don’t forget the thunder either! Really could have used some training to get the day pass by quicker and making the trip to south africa come sooner! Still not sure that the training is cancelled, the evening is still young and they have some really good lights on the track to.

Tomorrow we have our last training session before leaving and then it’s all about packing and cleaning this place before we leave to south africa on saturday!!

Melting away

It’s really warm here in france. Even though the sun was hidden behind the clouds today it was really warm. Around mid day we went to the travel agency to pick up our tickets to South Africa and sort everything out before we leave satuday. So now everything is under control!

In the afternoon we did a track session. The track isn’t at all in good shape. The season is finished for pretty much everybody, and it will be no trainings there until end of august. So nobody cares to take care of it. That a some strong winds took down the motivation today. Still worked some gates and did the physical stuff so that’s good enough for me.
