Okay, so a lot happened on Roblox through the time of the laptop incident. I will give a few things for the important Roblox events that have happened since around early November. Let’s get started!

Roblox Updates

I think a good way to begin all the new Roblox happenings would be to tell about the new updates. The biggest recent Roblox update would have to be the trade system. The trade system allows players to trade their ROBUX for other players’ tickets, or their tickets for other players’ ROBUX. There are two different ways you can trade with this system.

• Market Order

The great thing about Market Order is that you get your money immediately. Just put in a certain amount of ROBUX or tickets, and you’ll get whatever the current exchange ratio is. The bad thing about this is the amount of money you get back is unpredictable. One ticket is usually equivalent to about 4-5 ROBUX.

• Limit Order

Trading through limit order can get you the exact amount of ROBUX or tickets you want for whatever you put in. However, this does not occur until someone else puts the exact trade you submitted (the other way around). This means your trade may never happen. It could just be sitting their waiting to go forever.

So, that’s trading. You’ve got to be either just as excited, if not even more about this other update. Custom advertisements for your places, models, and clothing! To advertise an item of yours, just hit the “Advertise this ____” link. More detailed instructions will be found there.

Roblox Winter Playland Building Contest

Yes! Another Roblox building contest! And this one is still going underway! Exclamation marks are overused! Okay, so this Roblox event is still going on. That means you can still enter and maybe win something. Keep reading and find out more!

So, how can you win something? Easy! On your main account, build a wintery place, and put the tag, “WPBC” in your title. Your place will not be found by the judges if you forget to do include that tag. Once this is done, have a friend nominate you! Not being nominated is another thing that will keep the judges from finding your place.

How Nominating Works

Now, you’re probably wondering how to get nominated, or even how to nominate someone else. Well, it’s easy. Just go to RobloxEvents.com (yes, it is official), and hit the “Nominate your friend’s place!” link (found under Navigation). Further instructions will be found there.

Before nominating your friend, be sure to make sure nobody else has already done so. To do this, just search your friend’s Roblox username up in the searchbar. If you see a link with the username you searched, you’ll know that this person has already been nominated. Do not nominate someone who has already been nominated.

So, that wraps entering and nominations up. Now, what kinds of prizes do we have for this contest? Two things… hats and ROBUX!  The first and easiest hat you can get is the Cool Snowman Head. All you have to do to get this is enter the contest (put “WPBC” in your place title). Secondly, there’s the Ice Crown — with an additional 200 ROBUX.

Getting the ice crown is a little trickier than the snowman head. About 100 players will get this. The ice crown (and it’s ROBUX) is the winning prize for this contest. You will not get this if you haven’t been nominated. Places that are most wintery, awesome, and go along perfectly with what the judges were expecting will get this fabulous prize. If you want this, I suggest you work your very hardest on building your place entry.

ROtris

The ROtris event only lasted a few days, and has already ended. Three different hats were given away through the Roblox version of the classic game, tetris. Before we discuss these hats, I have to mention that the original ROtris map was built by the Roblox genius, xLEGOx. And, the hats!

• Score 100 on Easy - Rusty Tetramino of Competence
  
• Score 100 on Medium - Silver Tetramino of Accomplishment
  
• Score 100 on Hard - Gold Tetramino of Mastery

Just before my laptop was destroyed, I had promised a certain Roblox player he would have the next interview here on Roblox News. Yes, the laptop incident was a bit of a while ago, but does that matter? No way! I promised an interview to this guy. I also told you guys to be looking forward to several new posts coing up.

So, who is SonicBoy? SonicBoy is probably best known for his Roblox fanblog - Roblox Direct. SonicBoy also has a few popular Roblox videos. His video name, as you might know him is SonicMaster1. The most popular Roblox video he has made would probably be his May-Funny Roblox bloopers. Anyway, it’s time for the interview!

WonkaKid - How did you find Roblox?

SonicBoy - I was watching Megaman765’s Roblox Videos. I joined because of the “adventurous” part the video showed me.

WonkaKid - How long have you been playing Roblox?

SonicBoy - Around 14 months. I really started playing Roblox after the Vista Compatibility update of October 2007.

WonkaKid - What would you rate Roblox on a scale of 1-100?

SonicBoy - 87. A great game, and it’s gonna get better.

WonkaKid - What is your favorite thing about Roblox?

SonicBoy - I would say the Treasure Hunts. No, not the Riddling Skull (that was a joke, it was too easy), but the other hunts, like the Void Star hunt, or the 2007 Halloween Hunt. Even though I didn’t participate, I would gladly do a Hunt that’s very challenging.

WonkaKid - Who is you favorite Roblox player?

SonicBoy - I would say nintendobones. He helps me a lot with my movies, and we get together a lot. I even ask him for advice sometimes!

WonkaKid - What is your favorite Roblox place?

SonicBoy - Sword Fight on the Heights Original. If this place did not exist, I wouldn’t even have my Combat Initiation badge.

WonkaKid - How did you get the idea of starting a Roblox fanblog?

SonicBoy - I got the idea from the Developer’s Blog, and Roblox News. Well, I really didn’t start with Roblox Direct! I first made a blog called “A robloxian life”, a sort of daily-life blog of me in Roblox. Then I got the idea from Roblox News to make a news blog, well, a tribute. I really didn’t expect it to be known.

WonkaKid - When did you create your Roblox blog?

SonicBoy - January 19th 2008, two days after the deletion of “A robloxian life”.

WonkaKid - Do you have any blogging tips for other Roblox players?

SonicBoy - Everything you put on your site must be appropriate for young viewers. Also, don’t post out off-topic subjects that have nothing to do with your site. (Example: Don’t post what you ate for lunch on a Roblox Fansite.)

WonkaKid - How do you picture Roblox 5 years from now?

SonicBoy - A lot of lag reduced, re-organized site that looks awesome, only good games on the front page, a tutorial mode (Build/Play/Script), teamwork events, an advanced forum (PHPBB).

As you all have probably noticed by now, Roblox News posts have been a little slow lately. There is a reason for this, and the problem behind this reason has finally been fixed. In other words… prepare for Roblox News rapid fire!

Okay, now you’re probably wondering what the reason was. Well, I’ve been saving all Roblox News files to my laptop computer. Nearly two months ago, a heavy computer speaker was dropped right around the keyboard/mousepad area of my laptop. Colorful, horizontal lines covered the screen completely. It was not a pretty sight.

Anyway, now that the computer is finally back, I will be posting here whenever I get the chance. To keep you intrigued, I’ll give you a little idea of what our next post will be like. I’m interviewing a great Roblox player. Here’s a hint on who it is: He’s great with putting together Roblox videos, and is well-known for his Roblox blog. Can you guess who it is?

I recently started using the free social networking service, Twitter (Never heard of Twitter? Thank Wikipedia). As Wikipedia explains it, Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows its users to send and read other users’ updates (otherwise known as tweets), which are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length.

And, that’s pretty much it in a brief description. I have to say it’s a pretty neat site. You won’t regret signing up! If you do end up joining Twitter, my personal account is Tech_Guy. My other account, used for this site, is RobloxNews - I’ll be explaining this account in this post.

I really enjoyed using Twitter for fun on my Tech_Guy account. I liked it so much, I couldn’t help but to have Twitter featured here on Roblox News. Because of this, I decided to keep you updated with Roblox News every single day through something besides posts - short messages of 140 characters or less.

I recently received a message from a great Roblox player, M1LKMAN. He had been asking for an interview here on Roblox News. I thought it over and came to a great conclusion. The greatest reason I would interview M1LKMAN for is his skill in Roblox fighting. That’s when I thought of having interview categories.

M1LKMAN has a mere 7,800 when it comes to profile views. You would think that sounds just above average in Roblox… until you notice his KO count - about 43,000. I’m pretty sure that leads him to being one of the top 5 Roblox fighters, wouldn’t you? Roblox does have quite a few great fighters, and M1LKMAN is definitely one of them.

WonkaKid - How did you find Roblox?

M1LKMAN - I found Roblox by watching Youtube videos by Fleskhjerta and Lemurboy07.

WonkaKid - What do you like the most about Roblox?

M1LKMAN - I like the way you interact with other people and make new friends.

WonkaKid - What would you rate Roblox on a scale of 1-100?

M1LKMAN - I would rate it somewhere between 70 and 100. the stalkers, spammers, and some of the updates are bringing Roblox down. Its cool though.

WonkaKid - Who is your favorite Roblox player?

M1LKMAN - I would have to say Monork2. If it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t be able to fight, nor would my fame be reached.

WonkaKid -What is your favorite place in Roblox?

M1LKMAN - Telamon’s Sword Fight on the Heights Original, of course.

WonkaKid - How long have you been playing Roblox?

M1LKMAN - Nearly 8 months.

WonkaKid - What Roblox place/weapon has contributed the most to your KOs?

M1LKMAN - Swords - 97%, Other - 3%

WonkaKid - Where do you see Roblox 5 years from now?

M1LKMAN - Better graphics, physics, and a very big industry like Blizzard.

WonkaKid - What is your favorite Roblox hat?

M1LKMAN - The red stetson.

WonkaKid - Do you have any Roblox fighting tips for beginners? If so, please share.

M1LKMAN - Well, I was taught to fight by Monork2, but I would have to say this; trust yourself, your instinct, and don’t give up on your motivation to fight.

I’ve interviewed many great Roblox players in the past, all for great reasons. These reasons could be things such as how good certain people fight in Roblox, how popular certain players’ Roblox maps are, or even a large amount of forum posts certain players have.

I’ve interviewed great Roblox bloxxers, such as Noobertuber, Roblox hit place owners, such as LuigiFan, even the average Roblox player you meet in a game, such as L337. There are many others I’ve interviewed, these are just a few examples. As I said, I interview people for different reasons.

Because of having interviews with many different great Roblox players for many different great reasons, I’ve come up with a simple, new idea for my Roblox interviews; categories. From now on, I’ll be sorting all my interviews out with categories.

For now, I’ll use a few simple categories. I will add more as time rolls on. As of now, the only categories I’ve come up with are as follows:

• Roblox Staff
• Bloxxers
• Builders
• Forum Posters
• Average Players

As I said, more categories will unfold as the future comes to pass. Who knows what I’ll come up with? Scripters, Clothing Creators, Noobs… these are just ideas. I’m not going to make them official now. If you have any ideas or suggestions for categories, please feel free to send us an email at the Contact Us page.

In other news… Roblox has created a great, new Jobs page! If you’re looking for a good computer job, you might want to consider checking it out at jobs.roblox.com. Remember to be sure you qualify for the job before you send an application in!

Roblox has released yet another load of updates today! There weren’t really any ingame updates, but there have been a few changes around the site. Please read on and you’ll know all about today’s changes in Roblox.

A few of the new updates came with new bugs and glitches. If you notice any, the Roblox Developers will really appreciate you telling them about these problems. Just send them an email at info@roblox.com. You can also try posting about the bugs you found in the Technical Problems/Bug Reports forum.

What’s New

First of all, you all have probably noticed the “Cool Places” feature toward the bottom of the Roblox homepage. The Developers fixed this up a bit; just made it look a little cleaner. A cool thing about this is one you put your pointer over one of the “Cool Places” thumbnails, it will quickly get a little larger, and have a blue glow around it.

Secondly, there’s a new feature in the “Configure this Place” page (found directly below the image of the thumbnail of a map on your homepage). Toward the bottom part of the page, you’ll see a new text that says “Version History”. Below it is a few links with the text “[Make Current]“, a number, and a date. These links will reset your place to previous saves to your map. For example, you’re online at your level with a friend. He deletes a few bricks, and you accidentally save them. With this feature, you can click on the top of the “[Make Current]” links, and you’ll have the place exactly as it was before this incident.

Thirdly, installing Roblox to your computer is a little different. When you try entering a map without Roblox installed to your computer, a window will come up with instructions on how to install Roblox. Not much too most of you, but it’ll really help newer players.

Fourthly, there’s now a small window that comes up while a server is loading a map. I don’t think it really changed anything… probably helps the map load better. Isn’t real big, but it is a new update.

Roblox is holding yet another map building contest!

As you probably already know, the Beijing 2008 Olympics are very close. The Roblox team is obviously so excited about this event, they can’t help but to do something about it. That’s why they’re having a Roblox Olympics building contest!

Rules

1. Your place entry must have the tag “Olympics2008″ at the beginning of the title. [Ex: Olympics2008 Swimming]
2. You must leave your place entry on your main account until the end of the contest (August 11). Prizes will only go to your main Roblox account.
3. Your place must be related to the real Olympic games.
4. Advertising your place in the Roblox forums is only allowed in the Creations Gallery.

Video Event

Too busy to build a whole new Roblox map? Try the mini Roblox Olympics video contest! You must upload your video to Youtube for it to be valid. You also must have the following tags: roblox, olympics, beijing. You also must include your Roblox username, and a link to the Roblox website (www.roblox.com). There is no video legnth limit! You just have to be sure to the things I’ve already noted, and have the video related to Roblox, and the Beijing 2008 Olympics. Don’t forget to keep the video completely clean!

Prizes

All winners will receive the following prizes in the following ways. At midnight (Pacific Time) at the ending of the contest, the Roblox team will run a database search that will find the amount of place visits and favorites every entry received from the start of the contest.

Yes, one person may follow even all the above requirements. The contest has already begun, so if you haven’t yet, start building!

I was browsing through the Roblox forums yesterday and had a certain thread catch my eye. It was entitled “I’ve made a story for ‘The Void Star’“. I really enjoy stories, so I decided to take a look. The body of this thread contained a remarkable story.

ImNoobish wrote a fiction story on the origin of the Roblox hat, ‘The Void Star’. I enjoyed his story so much, I decided to get his permission to feature it here on Roblox News. Trust me on this; you will not regret hitting that ‘(more…)’ tag.

Once upon a time…

ROBLOX once got bored and started messing with his programs. He opened the hat maker and started doodling. “Oh my gosh!” he exclaimed, as a new idea popped into his head. “I know exactly what to make!” so he got to work.

Several hours later, he completed his new hat. Spikes were abundantly placed around this ring-like hat. He published this hat under the name of “The Dark Crown”. He did not know what he had unleashed.

A few wealthy Robloxians thought it looked swell, and decided to purchase it. With it came unknown powers. They went to Builderman’s ROBLOX HQ to look at their awesome hats.

Once there, they felt a strong force gathering beneath their feet. “Whats that?” they pondered. Suddenly, the earth beneath them split into their individual particles and departed for the sky. They were left falling downwards into the molten core of planet Robloxia.

Upon touching this molten core, the Robloxians were immediately knocked out. They didn’t stand a chance. Their plastic bones melting away, and the rancid smell of burning megabytes was the last sensation for the dear figures.

The Dark Crown was made so perfectly, it did not melt. Instead, when the magma settled into the crevace of the planet now missing, the Dark Crown still remained down there. It became a legend.

A long time later, a Robloxian built up the courage to dig into the planet for the hat. He came aross diamonds formed by the pressure of the earth above. The diamonds were so massive that he had no choice but to blast his way through.

After many bombs and a few shots of Balefire, the obese crystal finally gave way. Passed it he found a large chamber of air. Inside was the Dark Crown! In disbelief, the Robloxian pinched himself to nullify the possibility of a dream. He walked over to the Dark Crown and picked it up. It was so hot, he lost his entire arm! In agony, he kicked the dark crown.

This got the Dark Crown angry. With all of it’s energy to maintain the low pressure chamber, it released it in a single pulse! The planet exploded, and the ignition umbusted other Gas Giant planets nearby. The whole solar system was ablaze.

To this day, ROBLOX has kept the Dark Crown and the few fragments of the planet still remaining. The lack of a solar system in that area gained itself the name of “The Void Star”.

Most of you have heard of the winner of the 2007 Roblox funny movie contest. You have also seen the most expensive Roblox item, “JJ5×5’s White Top Hat”. If you’re one of these many people, you’ll be happy to know who today’s interviewed Roblox player is!

JJ5×5 - I was browsing though a website entitled “freeonlinegames.com” and got interested when I saw Roblox.

WonkaKid - After winning the Roblox video contest, did you have any custom hat ideas other than the white top hat?

JJ5×5 - The only other idea I had was a blue top hat with a white band…but I stuck with the white top hat.

WonkaKid - How long have you been playing Roblox?

JJ5×5 - 1 year now (I have the badge to prove it).

WonkaKid - How do you imagine Roblox 5 years from now?

JJ5×5 - Probably better…improved graphics….less lag…we will all see in 5 years time (if we all keep playing).

WonkaKid - What’s your favorite place in Roblox?

JJ5×5 - I don’t really have a favorite place. I’m pretty much either at mine, or exploring at random…I might be at a new person’s place (yep, the basic house) or somewhere else (whatever it might be).

WonkaKid - Who is your favorite Robloxian other than yourself?

JJ5×5 - Restricted77. She seems to be a helpful person. She has even offered building my old hotel at her place (yes, she is a girl).

WonkaKid - Have you ever done something big to help the administrators/moderators? If so, what was it?

JJ5×5 - No.

WonkaKid - If you were given full admin powers all throughout Roblox for 24 hours, what would you do?

JJ5×5 - I would probably help Roblox, however it might be.

WonkaKid - What would you rate Roblox on a scale of 1-100?

JJ5×5 - Hopefully yes, but I don’t think I can use £ on Paypal.
