I Need a New Base - Michelle ?

I have finally come to the conclusion that the circuit that controls the "Home Docking" feature on my Rovio is hosed. How do I go about getting a replacement? Can I keep mine until a new base arrives or do I have to send mine in first? All else works - just the "Go Home" feature does not work. How do I get the ball rolling? Michelle? Thanks, Magohn

Why in the 21st Century, when we have robots that are out there that can do anything a soldier can(for the most part) are we having men killed everyday in Afghanastan? You could say well the price of these robots on a mass basis is prohibitive. What price a human life? Just seems insane in this modern era we still have people out there getting killed no different then in the 1700's.

Hey guy's: Yeah well my new RS-V2 arrived that i bought from amazon.com today and it was the original white model, but various parts of the leg and torso are a yellowed cream color and some parts are white. It's to much of a difference in contrast for me to live with, especially since i paid a total of $335.00 after shipping for NEW. So now i'm going back and forth with the company emailing them pics and requesting they send me a replacement robot. I'll keep you guys informed on the progress and hopefully it'll end in my favor after all this time and money i've invested in this robot already.

Access Rovio control over webpage (outside LAN)

Hi all! I've read just about every tread in this forum but I can't figure out how to access the Basic Authentication - protected area's of Rovio's .CGI files.. The part I understand, is that I need to use some kind of a "proxy-file" - so Javascript (which I use to communicate with Rovio's .CGI scripts) can access the scripts cross-domain.. However, it is unclear to me how I can place this proxy-file inside Rovio's own webserver.. :S .. I just can't figure it out.. Anyway, I need to get access to Rovio's secured CGI scripts by using Javascript.. However, I don't want to reveal these secured scripts their username & password security details.. (this webpage will be public). How should I best do this?? How do I setup the proxy file (I know how to create a proxy file and how it works, I just don't now how to get it to work with Rovio). Any help is REALLY appreciated! Kind regards, Roel

anyone know this pink dinosaur?

I found this dinosaur at the thrift store tonight and for 89 cents, I couldn't leave her there to be thrown out! The skin is made out of rubber and there is an infrared sensor on her back. Another sensor of some sort is underneath her tail. When you tunr her on, she says "it looks like a good day for a walk" (or something like that) and her mouth moves to the words. Other than that, I assume that I need the remote to get her to do anything else. It looks like it can walk around and her neck will move side to side as well. There are absolutely no numbers, names or markings on this thing at all to help identify it, other than the obligatory "made in China" moniker that everything in America now carrys. Has anyone every seen this creature out in the wild who can maybe help identify her? Oh, I guess you might need to see a picture of her, huh? Here you go: ... and for the image challenged browsers ( ), she is a rubber skinned pink dinosaur with a white underbelly and purple hearts. (Why do I get the urge...

Two Rovio Remote Access and Port Forwarding

I've now got two Rovios and am trying to establish external access to both. For the first I forwarded port 80 to 8081 and opened port 554 and can log in remotely fine. For the second I forwarded port 80 to port 9000 but my router won't let me open port 554 because it says it's open on the other IP address. If I forward the 554 on this IP address to another external port, the video doesn't work. How do you make this work? Also, I don't have a static IP address on my DSL. The old firmware didn't care as long as I knew what the new IP address was which I can discover through another application. Version 5.0 it seems I have to specify it and if it changes the unit can't be accessed. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Red Roboquad vs White Roboquad

Hi all, I just bought both the red and white roboquad from off ebay. I notice that they have different firmware. My white roboquad doesn't back up well at all, yet the red roboquad backs with no problems. Their Demo dance is also different. The white one looks up during the dance and the red one looks down during the dance. Also at the end of the dance the red one puts his left leg up for a second, like he is waving. I think the firmware for the red one is better, yet the white one seems to be built better. The red one moves his neck real jurky and the white one moves his neck real smooth. Does anyone else notice these differences? Does anyone else have one that doesn't go backwards well? Anyone know which one is newer? Thanks, Tesla

I am having a problem with the video component of the RS Media program It does not matter if I use the disc that comes with the bot or the updated one from Wow Wee. I can get the main program to come up and run, but I get the Error messages "createdevice () - failed" and "initD3D () - failed." I am wondering if this has something to do with the video card that is built into the motherboard on this computer. I am running a "Dell OptiPlex GX 110" computer with "Windows XP service pack 3" on it. I tried to call Wow Wee about it today and I talked to a young man and told him what was going on. He put me on hold and I got a few beep tones, then it went into a busy tone and the line went dead. When I tried to call back, all I got was that ruddy recording of theirs and never could get back into the aid center. I feel like they did not wish to deal with this problem and just ignored the incoming call. Is there anyone here with any idea as to what I...

Any opinions on new WowWee Humanoid robot Joe-Bot ?

Hey guy's i just saw the various CES 2009 video's of WowWees latest Robosapien humanoid robot, called Joe-Bot. Unfortunately they couldn't show a complete demo but from what i understand, it has voice control and can be controlled by a remote, it also remembers any and all beats tapped out on it's body and plays them back. It walks faster and smoother than it's predecessors, it has sensors to avoid obstacles and interact with humans a little more than the others. it can fall and pick itself up with faster, more balanced coordination, it has a more vast vocabulary and is quite comical while interacting and once in battle mode you can have a laser fight with it using your TV remote, it has all the expected functions of RS-V2 and Media, although it doesn't look quite as big as them. As for myself i was some what impressed with what i saw thus far, but i need to see more thorough demonstrations of all it's functionality. Which i'm sure we'll all be curious about googling it when it comes this summer, and they said it will cost $99.99. So it's worth a look to say the least. Check out...

My RS Media's LCD screen remains on the load screen for the entire time he is on. With the screen still saying "loading" with a completed progress bar, he will go into his startup routine. He also responds to the remote. The screen however, never shows what mode he's in, only "Loading." This makes Media mode impossible to work in. Why would this occur? How can I fix it? Thanks!

Hey Guy's, i Chose a New RS-V2 over a New RS Media

Yeah i was searching the online stores last night and i was trying to decide between the RS-V2 and RS-Media. Well after weighing the Pro's and Con's of such deciding factors like 1- I'm a MAC owner so the enclosed RS Media software won't work for me. 2- I like the individual fingers of the RS-V2 over RS Media's hands. 3- The RS-V2 is a much better walker than the RS Media. 4- The RS-V2 is a lighter bot without the Media center, therefore less battery usage. 5- RS-V2 comes with it's own bowling ball and pins for extra fun, RS Media does not. So you see it's these factors listed here that swayed my decision towards the older model robot, which by the way is very unlike me, since i always have to have the latest gadget on the market, for me this is a first. Well i hear that i was fortunate enough to find both RS-V2 and RS-Media new at all since WowWee seems to have stopped stocking stores with them, and only now ships bots like Mr. Personality, Tri-Bot, Rovio, Robospider. I guess i should consider myself lucky and i do, i just can't wait for...
