New headlight mod - no soldering required

Hello! As mentioned on some other threads, I recently purchased headlights from China. The Chinese seller didn't provide any description of how to install them, so therefore I'm writing this post so others might understand how to do this. The headlights has been discussed on this forum before - see here . See this link if you would like to buy them. In this post I will describe how to install the Rovio headlights from BuyChina.com About the headlights: The idea with this headlights is quite smart (I just didn't understand this at first). The headlights contain a LDR light sensitive sensor which dims the headlights down completely when they are left in the dark. Sounds confusing? If the LDR sensor is light flooded they will light up to max power. What I didn't understand first was this function. I thought they were assembled or soldered incorrectly until I suddenly understood the key thing. You use the stock light to light up the sensor which then lights up the leds to maximum power. If the stock light is turned off, the sensor will not recieve light and therefore the new headlights will not be lit. This means that these headlights...

Connection of Rovio extra headlight

Hi, I would like to install some headlights which bought from here.I have assembled all the parts together and connected them to the batteries of Rovio.There is a small circuit board between the headlights and the battery connector. On this circuit board there is a small wire which I assume is the switch.I hope this headlight can be connected so the stock headlight button in web browsers can be used to turn the headlights on and off.Can someone with?modding skills advice me on?where?to connect this?wire in order for the switch to work?

Been reading a lot here, didn't realize the robosapien had so many "friends"... Anyway, quite interesting reading here, and a l lot more to go trough, once the robot in my hands here will be woken up again. My grandchild got one, it worked for about 10 minutes and since then completely dead... New batteries in it, not a sign a life... So, take it back to the store... hell no, granddad will fix this in no time... yeah right... looking at the powerswitch it has 3 contacts, and seven wires connected. so measuring the contacts, only 2 out of 3 worked... mmm tempted to open up the little switch, it was broken anyway, maybe i could fiddle a bit with it.. wrong guess, once open forget about reassembling the little f... And to make it even worse it seems only 2 contacts are used anyway, so switch was probably ok. NOW the big question, anyone has a spare one? will pay for it... Thanks for reading this anyway!

How to fix charging isssues for good. Very simple fix!!

So I want to mention special thanks to someone on this forum who suggested a fix for Rovio's charging and battery life issue. It really did work. I tried it, and I'm seeing very impressive charging and run times. So a little background info first... I've had Rovio since the fall of 2010. I wholeheartedly appreciated the concept in general, and overlooked the major issue of short battery life. But the bottom line is that to be a useful telepresence rover, the robot must be capable of sustaining power long enough to be useful and make it back to its charging station without any direct help. I tried many different things...newer batteries, batteries with more mAh hours, and even power adapters with higher voltage (stock is 8v, I experimented with 9 and 10v). While these things helped a little, it still was not quite enough to bring the battery strength up to a level that I would say I could drive my Rovio from abroad and successfully make it back to the dock. So then, what was the fix? If you open up bottom of the charging dock, you will see the simple mechanism that makes the charging prongs push...
