I created a priest. Instead of just having a sim live in a church, and call it a done deal, I set up some goals:

Goals

Brighten people’s days.

Master Charisma, and all it’s special titles. Be the friendliest sim ever.

Self sustained: Grow enough fruit, catch enough fish, find enough rocks, to stay out of employment and pay the bills. This is amazingly easy after skills are mastered.

Also some ground rules to guide him:

Rules

Absolutely no romantic relationships. Flirting is also not okay (if another sim flirts with the priest, it’s alright as long as he doesn’t flirt back)

Watch your flock: Always pick up the phone! Even if it’s 3am, and all bars are red. If someone asks him to make a house call (invites him over), do it. If there are periods of spare time, use it to make phone calls.

Live as meekly as possible. Only buy better appliances and furniture if it’s in your budget.

Fix and upgrade things by himself. Clean his own stuff (no maids)

Produce own food whenever possible. Always cook (no quick meals) unless it’s an emergency.

No career. This sim already has a full-time job!

No enemies. Maybe one or two evil people if it absolutely cannot be helped.

Attend community events whenever possible. Take challenges whenever possible.

Note:

I had story-mode and aging turned off. But this should work (and is probably be more fun) with them turned on. I just couldn’t bare to see him age, or have bad things happen to my other sims, so I turned both off.

My Priest

Father John of Canterbury

Traits

Good

Charismatic

Friendly

Loves the Outdoors

Green Thumb

(I could have used unflirty/relationship issues… but they are wasteful traits, since I can just keep him out of romance).

Father John’s Church

I used . I also added a garden and graveyard to the original.

Results

A moderate success.

In the beginning it was a bit of a struggle to balance church maintenance, self-sustainment, and a good social life. Father John was good at making acquaintances but keeping friends was another story. It wasn’t until he recieved charisma titles and lifetime rewards that multiple friendships became maintainable.

This particular church was expensive to pay for. Weekly bills were 1-2k which is very hard to manage starting out. If I did this again, I’d probably start with a small church and work my way up.

Upkeep was time consuming. I didn’t plan on it, but mastering handiness just came naturally to the job. A lot of stuff can break in a church.

Father John got robbed A LOT! What a low thief, robbing the church!(lol). Thankfully the alarm always went off, and the police officer always caught the thief. I don’t know why he was targeted so much. All my other sims barely get robbed. Perhaps because he lives alone in a big house?

As far as fitting the role. It ended pretty well. Father John gets 3-4 phone calls a day, and a house call every now and then. He makes a big profit selling produce.

Possible Improvements

The biggest problem is getting other sims to go to his church without being invited. Also mass is a little tricky. He can throw parties but that’s not quite the same thing.

A possible fix to this is to put the church in a community lot, where people can visit whenever they like, and put the priest in an adjacent residential lot that still looks like it’s part of the church. Only issue is, he would have no control over the actual church.

Okay — that’s it, hope you enjoyed! It’s a pretty fun way to go. Also I’m not religious or anything, I just wanted to try this. I hope I didn’t offend anyone.
