Users have email addresses, but do not have fields for “Phone Number” or “Mailing Address.”

So, should we agree to put our additional contact info into the “Biographical Info” text box? Or, does anyone have any other solution?

I don’t know how many of you follow the page on facebook but last month foster had his last chemo appointment…after 3 years and 4 months of chemo it looks like we are finally through the worst of it. A couple more things scheduled (one surgery) over the next few months but its wrapping up.

After 17 months without full-time employment, I have officially accepted an offer with Open Capital Advisors, a management consulting and investment advisory firm. I’ll start a six-month fellowship in their operations department (primarily finance) in early June, with the intention of creating a long-term role of mutual fit. The company is partnered and founded by my friend from college Annie Roberts and another UChicago alum, Andreas Zeller.

Oh, and their office is in Nairobi, Kenya.

I’m moving to Africa!

Professionally, this is a great opportunity – I’ll be working for a dynamic, expanding company that is filled with intelligent, entrepreneurial people (their hiring on the consultant side is actually more exclusive than BCG or McKinsey) helping to make a real difference in an expanding economy. I’ll be able to develop a range of skills as I work with different aspects of operations.  Plus, it’s not often you get to choose your boss, and Annie is one of the most capable people I’ve ever known (she triple-majored at the University of Chicago, in four years), while remaining kind, humble, and open. And personally, well I’ve been in need of a change. Living with Murph has been a really great situation, and I’ll always love the Bay Area. But I look around at my life and recognize that it’s basically the same as it was when I was last unemployed six years ago. Had I taken another job with a Silicon Valley tech company, it would probably be about the same six years from now. Obviously, if I want my life to change, then I’ve got to change, and I don’t need to move halfway around the world for that to happen. But I’ve also realized that you never grow very much when everything is comfortable. Plus, I’ve always wanted to see Africa but never actually considered it a realistic opportunity. It’s very real now, and I can’t wait!

Unrelated P.S.: There’s these visibility options off to the right, “Public,” “Password protected,” and “Private.”  Can someone elaborate on the difference? Are these all within the already-private HQ environment?
