Shop Working Again

I think it was an upgrade somewhere that killed it. I tried another shop that was so completely hopeless that it couldn’t even remember the prices! This one could do better as well as the checkout is a bit labored so I’ll keep my eye out for something better.

I’m back in Berlin now after playing a couple of gigs in Copenhagen. The first was in Christiania and was so hysterically bad in terms of audience that the other at Warehouse 9 just had to be great, and it was!

I was told later that I should have been two buildings away in Christiania, at the Grey Hall, and they would have loved me. Ah well, next time! Thanks very much to Soho for her encouragement and advice. Warehouse 9 was a lot of fun. I came on at about midnight and played for an hour and a quarter. If the audience is crap it tends to be about 45 minutes. It could have been longer too but there were people playing after me so I cut it short.

Copenhagen is a really nice city to play in and to visit.

Elektroliebchen now in Feb 2010

Getting people together can sometimes be difficult and so it was for Sep 26 so now Elektroliebchen will on Sat 6 Feb 2010. This is also the last day for Transmediale so an early visit to us, and then to Maria, and then back for our aftershow party will be a very good night.

The title for the production on 26 Sept is now Elektroliebchen! Right at the moment it looks like we have some dancers and it’s going to be quite a fun, and moderately stunning production I think. Picture soft organic tones plunging into some hardcore beats with breakdancers happening, or melodic long lines with graceful movements and snippets of video … the stages of love is the theme … or the stages of a love. September 26 at the Theater Kapelle in Berlin plus maybe some other shows.

And not forgetting the aftershow party with DJ Alec Teacher.

Nice Noise

I turned up at Brunnenstrasse 183 in Berlin to find a big group of artists milling around on the sidewalk. What gives? Beyond the gateway the inhabitants were putting up barbed wire and other defenses against their eviction on 18 June. It seems a hundred people aren’t going to be made homeless without a fight. I just hope no-one gets hurt.

And yes, they’d changed their mind about us playing there so we milled about and chatted while the organiser, Marcus, tried to find another spot which he eventually did and music started at 10PM instead of 8. It was a nice night too even if the venue owner wanted the sound level to be down on what the artists wanted and expected. My own slot went down well and thanks to all who gave some affirmation! And especially the girl I whacked as I stumbled off the stage with a table full of gear. I asked, horrified, if I’d hurt her and she said ‘Yes, but don’t worry.. I liked your music’. Bless!

I did a 15 minute thing called In Your Eyes and there’s now a shorter
version of it in my shop. You can hear it on my myspace page (link is bottom right).

Next gig looks like late July or early August. I’ll have a little break although I have lots of work to do on the Love Poem thing.

The “Stuff” CD !

This isn’t quite the first CD for Robotbathing but it is the first to be offered in a general way. It has tracks that go back to 2006 (You’ve Got) and is right up to Bleepfest Berlin 3 in 2009, where Like a Wire was performed for the first time.

There is the same sort of variety that usually is in my live shows – some slower, more reflective things along with faster, dancey tracks… a bit like life, I guess, sad and happy, bored and angry, ready for love, etc!

Buy it, why not?!

After Bleepfest

Ah, it was cool! So many great performances and nice moments and the usual great atmosphere which seems to magically be there every time even when we have to deal with dorks. No dorks this time! The Theatre Kapelle people were completely wonderful to deal with and could be seen dancing around from time to time.

Bleepfest will be back there again next Easter and in the meantime there might be another Bleepfest in London in mid-September 09. More news when I know.

I usually have some sort of small tech disaster at Bleepfests and this time I had a head mount mic that wouldn’t stop feeding back. Some people thought this was part of the act so I guessed it worked out OKish. The crowd liked the set so, cool! Bed about 4:30.

I’m booking gigs at the moment but not sure exactly how much I’ll be playing over the summer. I think I’ll try to make it a moderate amount.

Ah, oh yes, CD out soon!!
