Hello my friends and family!

This is our experience about shopping at Eastview Mall in Victor, NY. We saw an amazing display of Toothpick structures of world famous building from all over the world. We also saw a big charismas decorations at center court with Santa for kids to take pictures. There were also some boat shows going on and saw a Cat Cafe where you take your cat for eat out. Bachchu Kailash

Bachchu Kailash was born on 30th July, 1938 in Sapatel, Chhorumbu VDC, Khotang. He is the oldest son among six brothers. His father is Karna Bahadur Basnet and mother is Krishna Kumari Tamang.Basnet. He was deep into music by the age of 5. Even though he was discoureaged by his uncle aunt and other relatives, he persisted in his musical parsuit. By the age of 8, he went to Radio Nepal and sang the song "Nirasa Na Hou Saathi".

He has recorded many memorable hit songs. Hello guys and gals of Rochester NY. I have not been posting since big earthquake in Nepal.
I am here today to talk about Soap Nuts. Soap Nuts are grown wild in Nepal in Himalayan regions and they are native to Nepal and India. Even though they are called Soap Nuts, actually they are not nuts but berries. Sometime they are also called Soapberries. In Newari they are known as "Hathan" (नेवारीमा यसलाई "हठँ" भन्छ ). I remember playing "guchcha" (marble) out of soap nut seed. Today I am writing about this wonderful product that is distributed by Rochester based company under the brand name "Soap Nut Tree". This brand represents premium quality soap nuts.

What are Soap Nuts? They are all natural plant based biodegradable natural laundry alternative. They contain large amounts of saponins in their shells, which are a natural surfactant. Surfactants are compounds that lower the surface tension of a liquid, and so can be used as detergents or foaming agents.

HOW TO USE SOAP NUT

It is a very simple process. Add four or five of them, in a small cloth bag, to a load of dirty laundry. You can reuse that pouch of soap nuts for 2 to 6 loads depending upon the water temperature. Candlelight Vigil - A Prayer for Nepal Earthquake Victims

Earthquake strikes again our suffering country Nepal with magnitude of 7.3 on May 12th just before 1 PM local time

None of the close relatives of Rochester Nepali Community reported victimized by this devastating earthquake.

Rochester Nepali Community came together on May 3rd, 2015 at Hindu Temple of Rochester, Pinnacle Rd, Rochester to pray for Nepal earthquake victims.

USA Today reported - A second major earthquake struck this mountainous nation Tuesday — 17 days after the first devastating quake — killing 42 and injuring 1,117, the Nepali government said.

The center of the quake was located in an isolated area approximately 11 miles from Kodari, a border crossing from Nepal to Tibet, and 47 miles from the Nepalese capital of Kathmandu, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
The USGS initially recorded it as a magnitude 7.4 earthquake, later revising the figure to magnitude 7.3. At least five, smaller aftershocks were recorded after the quake hit just before 1 p.m. local time (3:15 a.m. ET).

Rochester Nepali Community Dashain Celabration 2014

Rochester Nepali Community is celebrating Dashain on Oct 18th, 2014. This is a last minute update. Anyone can join the event. Ticket price is $20.00 per person if you buy it in advance else it is going to cost $25.00 at the gate. Children under 12 are free. The event will be filled with lots of fun. There will be a cultural program performed by local artists. If you have talent and would like to participate in cultural program, please send me email. I will get you the necessary information. Sinky Up is a unique game that there is no game like this found in app store and Android's Play Store. This is a very challenging and addictive game. Initially, you may find that this game is bit difficult to play. But once you develop the technique, you will enjoy the game and may get hooked to it. This game is FREE to download from app store. The objective of the game is to keep Sinky up in the air without letting it fall to the ground. Because Sinky is pulled down by the gravity, you need to keep him up by gently pushing it up with you finger from the bottom. Think just like a balloon falling down. Do not try to push it down because it is always being pulled down by the gravity. If you push it down, your force plus gravity is going to add up and it will take a Devil Dive.

The game, Sinky Up, is composed of four elements.
1. Need to balance the player
2. Get rewards to score
3. Dodge the enemies
4. Get the power pill and kill the enemy

As shown in the screen shot above, the Sinky is floating in the air. The challenge is to get those apples which are guarded by the Spike Monster. When you get the apple, you get the points. If the Spike Monster touches the Sinky, the game will be over.

The game is intense and you to be in it to win the game. This a multilevel game. As you pass the level, you will be taken to different part of the world. Sinky travels 7 contents of the world including Nepal, Japan, India, Australia, Africa, South America, Europe.

Asmita Dhakal from Rochester, NY in Nepali Movie "Raghav"

It is amazing to know that Asmita Dhakal who is from Rochester, NY had leading role in newly released Nepali movie "Raghav" which was mostly shot in US. this movie was screened in Rochester on June 29th, 2014 at theatre located at corner of Clinton and Goodman Street. Unfortunately, I was not able to watch it. There are lot of preview available in Internet. I have posted some here as well for your convenience.

The preview looks very good to me. I would like to watch it if I get another opportunity. The story seems to be very simple and intuitive. Since there are lots of young Nepalis going abroad for higher education and with new social trends, what it is shown in the movies could happen to any young Nepali. By looking at this preview one can say that Asmita has done pretty good job in acting. I am very impressed with her natural talent. She has acted effortlessly in this movie "Raghav". Please see the another clip here that shows her acting skill. This piece looks very sentimental and touchy.

Dialogs in this movie is spoken very close to normal speaking tone. There is no artificial screaming and laughing unlike other Nepali and Hindi movies. The songs are very good and soothing as well. I like them very much myself. Please see the video clip below in which Asmita has major role in it.

Child Adoption from Nepal

Nepal is a least developed country. Out of 26.6 million population, 60% are under poverty level. Due to this fact, the abandonment of children is very common in Nepal. These children are usually end up in an orphanage until someone adopts to give love, caring and a nice home. These children are usually adapted to a foreign country (Internationally). Very little are adopted in Nepal by Nepalis because traditionally it is not common for a Neapli to adopt a child. Even when they do, they usually adopt a relative child so that they know the child is of their own cast. The cast system is still there but it is gradually going away as new generation people are taking over the society.

There are lot of children of both sex are waiting to be adapted. There is a process and rules to follow to adapt a child from Nepal. International adaption is encouraged. This blog is just to give a basic idea to the people living Rochester who are interested in adopting a child from Nepal.

Parent Requirement:
Married couple infertile for four years with doctor's statement of infertility and single woman are eligible for adoption. The age of married couple should be between 25 and 55 where as the age of single woman should be between 35 and 55. The adopting parent's age must be 30 years older than the child.

Travel:
You need to make 2 trips to Nepal for adoption. The first trip is for referrals and to apply in US Embassy in Nepal. In the second trip, you will bring the child home. For detail information please contact US

Nepal's official calender is Bikram (Vikram) Sambat. Today is Baishak 1, 2069 (B.S./V.S.) which is 1st day the year. This calendar is founded by an Indian Emperor of Ujjan after his victory over Sakas in 56 BCE. More information about this can be found at http://calendars.wikia.com/wiki/Bikram_Samwat

Nepali new year usually falls in mid April. I have found the following quoted text several places..

"A most remarkable point is that a pair of fabled orchid flower that used to bloom at Siraha's Salhes Garden exactly on the new year-Bikram Sambat morning. it may be that the orchid flowers bloom to welcome the new year. The orchid is the symbol of undying love. Thousands and thousands of people from neighboring districts and Indian villages visit this place to watch the blooming of the pair of flowers and attend a local festival. It may be that the orchid flowers hint to all to follow the rules of regulation of Bikram Sambat- the lovable Nepalese Era."
