Jimi Hendrix is the greatest musician ever. He play Guitar, a songwriter and a singer. Hendrix's music is timeless and spans various genres, from rock to soul, blues to pop, jazz to rap. Jimi Hendrix has influenced modern musician in many aspects with his talent and style.

Jimi Hendrix was born Johnny Allen Hendrix at Seattle's King County Hospital on November 27, 1942 at 10:15 a.m. As a young child, Jimmy (as he was called by his family) loved to listen to his father's R&B and blues records and he soon became very interested in music.

Learning to play guitar as a teenager, Hendrix grew up to become a rock guitar legend. He began his career by playing in a number of bands in his youth. Hendrix later enlisted in the United States Army in 1961 and became as a paratrooper. Even as a soldier, Hendrix found time for music, creating a band named The King Casuals. He served in the army until 1965.

In 1966, Jimmy formed a band, in which he played guitar and sang, in the Village. His band was popular and played regularly in Greenwich Village, which led to his meeting with Chas Chandler, the former bass player for the Animals. Chandler saw Hendrix play and was very impressed and at the end of the show He convinced Hendrix to go to London where he joined forces with musicians Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell to create The Jimi Hendrix Experience.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience became a sensation in England and their next releases "Wind Cries Mary" and "Purple Haze" were hits. In May of 1967, "Are You Experienced?" was released and stayed at number two on the charts for the rest of the year. The Jimi Hendrix Experience's fame kept rising and in December of 1967, they released their third album, Axis: Bold as Love. His final album as part of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Electric Ladyland (1968) was released and featured the hit “All Along the Watchtower,” which was written by Bob Dylan. The band continued to tour until it split up in 1969.

In 1969, Hendrix performed at legendary musical event, the Woodstock Festival. His rock rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” amazed the crowds and demonstrated his considerable talents as a musician. He was also an accomplished songwriter and musical experimenter.

A few months later, Mitchell and Redding both quit the band, but this did not stop Jimi. He quickly found a six-piece band with Mitchell and formed the Band of Gypsys. They went on to play at the Woodstock Music and Art Fair in New York. Once again Jimi performed a stunt for the crowd, this time playing a mangled version of "The Star Spangled Banner."

In August of 1970, Jimi halted production of two albums, one a jazz collaboration with Gil Evans and "The First Ray of the New Rising Sun", to tour in Europe.

On the night of August 17, Jimi took some sleeping pills, hoping to sleep through the next day. Jimi had also been drinking and during the night he vomited, but did not wake up due to the pills he had taken. Jimi was dead at the age of 27. The world since had been missing a great musician and we are left only to speculate what music could have been.

Led Zeppelin : The Biggest Rock Band Ever

Led Zeppelin is the biggest rock n roll band ever. They became a legendary band that influenced the forthcoming generations of hard rock, heavy rock, heavy metal, progressive rock, punk rock and alternative rock musicians. Led Zeppelin were formed in 1968 by Jimmy Page (guitar), Robert Plan (vocals), John Paul Jones (bass guitar, keyboards) and John Bohnam (drums). Led Zeppelin's first album was released in January 1969, shortly after their first tour and it was a powerful combination blues, rock n' roll and boogie influences. Led Zeppelin built the foundations of the hard rock and heavy rock music for the forthcomming decades. The album also featured English folk acoustic masterpieces. Led Zeppelin first album was released by the Atlantic Records in 1969.

In the same year Led Zeppelin released the second album "Led Zeppelin II",which included the all time rock classic "Whole Lotta Love". When the Led Zeppelin II was released, it was Atlantic Records’ fastest selling album at 100,000 copies a week.

In 1970, the band retired to a remote cottage in Wales called Bron-Yr-Aur for the writing of their third album "Led Zeppelin III", which was released that same year. Led Zeppelin had been confirmed as one of the most powerful and creative groups in the history of rock music as a live and studio band. In November 1971, the band released their fourth album "Led Zeppelin IV". This fourth album is considered as one of the top albums in the history of rock music and includes the all time classic "Stairway to Heaven".In 1975 Led Zeppelin released the double album "Physical Graffiti" in their new label (Swan Song). The name of Led Zeppelin started being associated in the press where reality and legend where mixed with stories about trashed hotel rooms, groupies, drugs, alcohol and the involvement of Jimmy Page into esoteric and black magic practises.The Presence(1976) and In Though the Out Door(1979) proved to be the last Led Zeppelin albums that were produced. John Bonham was found dead at the home of Jimmy Page on the 25 of September in 1980. After this tragic loss the band announced that they could not play any longer. The album entitled Coda was an unreleased set of recordings and out takes which was released in 1982.

Even in to the 1990’s the music that was produced in the early days of Led Zeppelin is still being played and loved. The music that they play is very persuasive and as popular as before. Even though they broke up ten years ago you would not know they broke because of the way that they are played on the radio. Zeppelin was played fortheir fans and followers.

In 1995, the three members joined at a party when the band inducted the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and jammed along with Joe Perry, Steven Tyler and Neil Young. In 2005, Led Zeppelin received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and were ranked #1 in US cable channel VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock special.

It cannot be denied that Stevie Ray Vaughan is one of the best guitarist ever..In 2003, RollingStone magazine ranked Stevie Ray Vaughan #7 in their list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time. Stevie Ray Vaughan was born and grew up in Dallas, Texas on 3 October 1954. He learned to play the guitar as a kid, influenced by his older brother, guitarist Jimmie Vaughan. He was dropped out from his High School in 1972 and playing blues guitar in bands in Austin, Texas.

His first album "Texas Flood" was released in 1983. Receiving positive reviews in both blues and rock publications and reaching number 38 on the charts. Stevie Ray and His band "Double Trouble" set off on a successful tour and many radio sation plays their song.

Their second album, "Couldn't Stand the Weather", which was released in May of 1984was more successful then their first album. In this year, Stevie and Double Trouble made numerous TV appearances, performing on Rockpalast, MuchMusic, and Solid Gold. In November, Vaughan won two W.C. Handy National Blues Awards: "Entertainer of the Year" and "Blues Instrumentalist of the Year".

The Third album "Soul to Soul" was recorded on 1985 and was also quite successful, reaching number 34 on the charts. Stevie received his fifth Grammy nomination: "Best Rock Instrumental Performance" for one of its songs, "Say What!". Although his professional career was soaring, Stevie was sinking deep into drug addiction and alcoholism. Despite his declining health, Vaughan continued to push himself, releasing the double live album Live Alive in October of 1986 and launching an extensive American tour in early 1987.

In 1988 Stevie and Double Trouble recorded "In Step" as their fourth studio album and praised by some as the band's best work since Texas Flood. The album won a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album. In the spring of 1990, Stevie Ray recorded an album with his brother Jimmie Vaughan which was scheduled for release in the fall of the year.

On August 26, 1990, their East Troy, WI, gig concluded with an encore jam featuring guitarists Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Jimmie Vaughan, and Robert Cray. After the concert, Stevie Ray boarded a helicopter bound for Chicago. Minutes after its 12:30 a.m. takeoff, the helicopter crashed, killing Vaughan and the other four passengers. He died so young,only 35 years old. Many people cannot believe that they just loss one of the best guitarist.

"Family Style", Stevie Ray's duet album with Jimmie, appeared in October and entered the charts at number seven. Family Style began a series of posthumous releases that were as popular as the albums Vaughan released during his lifetime.

"The Sky Is Crying", was the first of several posthumous Stevie releases to achieve chart success, was released in October of 1991; it entered the charts at number ten and went platinum three months after its release.

After His death, many musician record song to remembrance of Stevie Ray Vaughan. One of them is Steve Vai and Eric Johnson.

In 1991, The Texas Government announced that 3 Oktober or Stevie Ray's birthday become "Stevie Ray Vaughan Day". An annual motorcycle ride and concert in Central Texas benefits the Stevie Ray Vaughan Memorial Scholarship Fund.

In 1992, the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation released the Stevie Ray Vaughan Signature Stratocaster.

In 1994, Austin citizen erected the Stevie Ray Vaughan Memorial Statue at Auditorium Shores on Ladybird Lake, the site of a number of Vaughan's concerts.

In 2007, Fender Musical Instruments Corporation released a second tribute to Stevie, an exact replica of his second beloved guitar "Lenny". Lenny is the name of his wife (Leonora). Leonora give Stevie this guitar on His 26 birthday.

In 2008, Stevie Ray Vaughan will become eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Future Rock Hall entry for Stevie Ray Vaughan

The last guitar that Vaughan had played before his death is on display in the Hard Rock Cafe in Gatlinburg.

On the list of greatest guitarists of all time there could be literally hundreds of names. There have been so many influential guitarists who have changed the world of music for the better. However, there are certainly a few that stand above the rest. Not only are they incredible in how they play, but they have endured the test of time and really have been inspirational for so many up and coming guitarists.

The one and only Jimi Hendrix is at the top of the list for many reasons. Considered to be by far one of the greatest guitarists in rock music history, Hendrix achieved world wide fame back in the late 1960's. Starting in England he made a name for himself at the Monterey Pop Festival and then later at Woodstock in 1969. He was a pioneer of guitar feedback and was the first to incorporate overdriven amplifiers, which until then were thought of as a way to make bad music. Hendrix played one of the most amazing guitars of all time with his Fender 60's Reverse Headstock Stratocaster.

Second on the prestigious list of greatest guitarists of all time should be the incomparable Jimmy Page. Joining the group The Yardbirds before starting the band known to all as Led Zeppelin, Page was one of the most versatile guitarists in history. He was ranked number nine in Rolling Stone's list of 100 top guitarists of all time. Playing his Gibson Les Paul Classic as well as his Gibson Custom Shop Jimmy Page Double Neck Electric he was pure magic on stage.

Also one of the original members of The Yardbirds, Eric Clapton is a name that is synonymous with amazing guitar playing. With a nickname such as "Slowhand" Clapton won several Grammy Awards and is one of the most successful guitar players and musicians in the 20th and 21st century. With an amazing three inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Clapton is the reason that many youngsters even pick up a guitar for the first time. He was a pioneer for blues-rock as well as psychedelic rock while playing his famous Eric Clapton Artist Signature Stratocaster.

Making this list of greatest guitarists of all time, you can't help but remember Carlos Santana. With his blend of rock, blues, jazz fusion and salsa, his music is truly inspiring. Hearing the words classic rock is familier to our ears. If you heard a 'clasic rock' song we can directly know the singer and song title. Why do classic rock music so popular and what called of classic rock music? Well, certainly this music is came from 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. Some people said that rock music in the early of 1990s can be said as classic Rock music. Jimi Hendrix, Rolling Stones, The Who, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and The Doors are Legendary classic rock band.

Jimi Hendrix is known for his ability to play the guitar has made many people who fall in love with him. Many bands that later influenced by the guitar playing of Jimi Hendrix.

Led Zeppelin, with the song "Stairway to Heaven". This song is comprised of trust different and distinct "sections" that give a living, breathing feel to the music. Composed by Jimmy Page executed with vocals by Robert Plant, this song is the anchor of all classic rock songs.

Alternative rock has it role for change people mind and soul since it was shown up till nowadays. Pada awalnya alternative rock has been largely defined by its rejection of the commercialism of mainstream culture. The music now known as alternative rock was known by a variety of terms before "alternative" came into common use.

There are various subgenres of Alternative rock that have grown since the 1980s, such as Gothic rock, grunge, Britpop and Indie pop. Alternative bands in previous times used to play in small clubs, at that time there was no advertising medium so it was advertised through world of mouth as a result alternative rock became popular among youth. Alternative rock does not have any particular musical style but many performers have made up their own style by including distorted guitars. Sounds range from the dirty guitars of grunge and the gloomy sound scales of gothic rock is the specialty of alternative rock.

Alternative rock songs Lyrics is about social life such as drugs, depression and environment issuess. Alternative rock has that approach that can awake youth and raise their spirit. Alternative rock has music--with emphasis on distorted guitars and ambiguous lyrics which doesn’t suit to commercialize society. The song usually only 3-4 minutes long, with catchy riffs and steady beats. Alternative rock aims to reach out to a new generation of youth with high energy, melodic music which spoke to contemporary social issues.

The meaning of "alternative" is often confusing because of the application of the word alternative. The New Wave music genre of British Heavy Metal Music often abbreviated as NWOBHM started in the 70s, and became popular not only in Great Britain, but throughout the entire world. This music emerged because of the rebellion against the pop music that expanded rapidly in the 1970s. NWOBHM has a different style of music that evolved at that time. NWOBHM rely on rewing up the speed, pumping up the volume. For appearance, they differ from other types of music. They are characteristic of chains, leather jackets, long hair, and denim. The New Wave of British Heavy Metal style music was not intended to be main stream or be popular with a large population. There were lots of NWOBHM bands around that only had one hit, then disappeared from the music scene because they could not survive. Deff Leppard was one of survival NWOBHM band and have a huge fan until these day.

SLANK : The Indonesian Rock Band

Have you heard band called Slank? If you are Indonesian men of course are already familiar with this band. Yup .... Slank is one of famous rock band in Indonesia. There have been many albums that have been issued and sold a million copies.

Before Slank was formed, there is a group called Cikini Stones Complex (CSC) formed by Ben Setiawan Sidhartha (Bimbim) in the early 80s. The band only played Rolling Stones songs and did not want to play songs from other bands, but they were finally bored and toward the end of the year 1983 this group was disbanded.

Bimbim continue their musical passion with his two brothers Denny and Erwan forming the Red Evil and then changed the name became Slank, a name taken away from the derision of people who often call them boys 'selengean' with additional personnel Bongky (guitar) and Kiki (guitar). Bimbim's residence on Jl. Potlot 14 to be their headquarters.

They could appear at some stage to bring their own songs before Erwan decided to resign because he felt no hope in Slank. Formation formed by the long struggle of the 13th, Bimbim, Kaka, Bongky, Pay and Indra, the new Slank solid.

With the formation Bimbim (Drums), Bongky (Bass), Pay (guitar), Kaka (vocals) and Indra (Keyboard), they began making demos to be offered to the record company.

After repeatedly rejected in 1990 demo finally accepted and began recording his debut album, Suit-Suit ... He...he...he....(Gadis Sexy). Two song from this album : "Memang" and "Maafkan" become hit and rewarded BASF Award for best newcomer category. Their second album, "Kampungan" even the same success.

The involvement of personnel with the drug delivery had cracks this band. At the moment working on the sixth album (Lagi Sedih), Bimbim as the leader finally decided to fire Bongky, Pay and Indra. Kaka and Bimbim still working on his sixth album with the help of additional players.

Instead they recruit Ivanka (Bass), Mohamad Ridho Hafiedz (Ridho) and Abdee Negara (Abdee). This formation lasted until today and they continue to bear the works that affirm their existence in the world of Indonesian music.

Slank is a peace loving group and in fact Slank not only captured the hearts of fans, but also Slank has managed the spirit and solidarity from a generation to have the attitude. And Slank has a fanatical group of fans and creative, which is known as Slankers.

Finally Nine Inch Nails (NIN)'s drummer Josh Freese's got his replacement for the Nail's 2009 tour, and it will be the 20 year-old Ilan Rubin of the Lostprophets band. This replacement was announced by NIN frontman's Trent Reznor.

Rubin has been playing drums since he was 8 years old, taking lessons from ex-Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker and the Hooters' David Uosikkinen. He was entered into the Guiness Book of World Records for being the youngest player to perform on a Woodstock stage, after opening the '99 Woodstock festival at the age of 11. Also while at the age of 11, he was picked by Modern Drummer Magazine as the "Best Undiscovered Drummer Under the Age of 18."

History of Rock n Roll

For the rock and roll's fan, its important to know the history of Rock n roll music in order to appreciate why rock music is so loud. Alan Freed was said to be the first Rock and roll man. He was a DJ, and that time he play a song called "My Baby Rocks me with a Steady Roll." In 1950's, Rock and roll become a popular music in the United States. Its style started as rhythm and blues, but is identifiable by the use of electric guitars, interesting lyrics, and a strong rhythm.

There are cpouple man and band who spread rock n roll music for the first time and introduce these music to people. There are: Elvis Presley, Bill Haley and His Comets, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Buddy Holly.

Elvis Presley hits "Heartbreak Hotel," and "I Want You, I Need You, I Love You." was popular in 1955. These songs, of course will go down in history as classic rock music (although more bluesy than other songs in this genre during that time), and Elvis, known as the King of Rock and Roll.

Bill Haley and His Comets came hit song "Rock Around the Clock" was an instant hit to the kids across America and England who finally found a fast-paced song to dance to (or "rock out" to). The song became the best-selling record of the year, and is now considered the seminal rock and roll song.

Then, there is also Jerry Lee Lewis, with his hit "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On", released in 1957. He invented a style which infused his trademark single chord, piano solo. Buddy Holly, with his smash hit, "Peggy Sue" took over the airwaves with a song about a girl-the quintessential girl of the fifties, with her innocent smile and cute pigtails. Peggy Sue, however, never ages. The song is among the most memorable hits of the era.

The fifties was truly a great era for rock music. While it did not contain any social and political themes, or electrifying guitar solos, which identified rock music that came out years later, its energy and originality win us over. We now call them "oldies", music that ushered in a more contemporary, and more gritty (less bluesy) kind of music. Still, the fifties was definitely fabulous.

Blues is probably the purest American music ever produced – and along with its jazz counterpart – is the only true American music form. Its roots lie in the work songs of West African slaves in the South. When they toiled hard in the fields of South plantation owners, these slaves built a ‘call and response’ method of singing, thus lending rhythm to the drudgery of their lives. These came to be called ‘field hollers’ and became the basis of all blues music to follow. After the Civil War ended, the blacks could either work as field labor or become traveling minstrels. So quite a few ended up being the latter – performing at all-nighters, fish-frys and juke joints, relying on their stamina and mental repertoire of many blues songs.

Powerful Blues Music Is Officially Born
While the lyrics of blues songs seem soulful and sad, the music itself is quite powerful and emotive – filled with rhythm and celebrating the life of black Americans. What makes this kind of music appealing is its reflection of their daily lives, talking about sex, drinking, poverty, love lost, hard labor – anything they experienced.
Among the first documented blues is W C Handy’s “Memphis Blues” in 1909. The music grew in popularity and when the 78-RPM phonograph came in the late 1920’s Paramount, Aristocrat and other record labels recorded some of the famous country blues artists. Around 1941-1943, field recordings of blues men were made in their surroundings by famous blues folklorist Alan Lomax. This is significant because that’s how the white folks got introduced to the blues. Budding artists got exposure to some national record labels.

Blues Travels North
The blacks migrated North during the Great Depression along the route of the Illinois Central Railroad toward Chicago, bringing with them blues music. With huge crowds gathering to enjoy this, performers like Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf switched to electric guitars and also included drum sets to their bands. This became even more powerful than the original blues. There was a lull until the late 1950’s when The Kingston Trio recorded the chart topper, Tom Dooley, and gave birth to the folk revival in 1958. The Newport Folk Festival then brought back folk and blues music to the white American people till 1966.
What followed later was a merging of blues with rock – forming the rock blues bands of the 1960s and 1970s. Some artists faithful to the form were The Rolling Stones, John Mayall, Led Zeppelin.

Types of Blues Music
There are four types of blues music. The Deltas blues is said to be the original – being played by the black men from the Mississippi delta region, using the piano or harmonica. The style was a call and response lyrical framing. Then we have the Chicago Blues, which used electric amplification of voice using mics, drum sets and electric guitars. The Texas Blues are similar to the Chicago blues. In the early 1960s originated the Blues-rock, which was directly influenced by the Delta and Chicago blues.

AC/DC gets fans ready to rock

The promotions machine is working overtime as AC/DC gets ready to release its new album and roll out a North American tour. The veteran rockers' first studio set in eight years, "Black Ice," will hit Wal-Mart and Sam's Club stores on Monday (10/20). To make sure fans are paying attention, Wal-Mart has created a "Rock Again AC/DC Store" in each of its 3,500 locations and will stock shelves with the new album in addition to AC/DC merchandise including apparel, DVDs and catalog albums. A gaming station will also be available so fans can try their hand at rocking the new AC/DC-themed "Rock Band" video game.

"This is the first time in our history where we've taken such a large area within our store to celebrate a legendary band, and we invite fans of all ages to come out with us and get ready to rock," Wal-Mart Senior VP of Entertainment Gary Severson said in a statement.

Wal-Mart has also partnered with Columbia Records and MTV to create "AC/DC Rock Band Store" locations in Los Angeles and New York City. The pop-up stores will open at 12:01 a.m. Monday (10/20) to start selling "Black Ice" and other AC/DC merchandise. The outlets, located at the MTV Store in NYC's Times Square and the Hollywood and Highland complex in L.A., will remain open through Jan. 4, according to a press release.

In case that's not enough, a series of interactive "Black Ice" trucks have been dispatched on the streets of Los Angeles and New York City to fill the air with AC/DC tunes and allow fans to listen to the forthcoming album. The vehicles, which will become retail outlets once the album is released, will also demo the new "AC/DC Live: Rock Band Track Pack" game, which is due next month.

As previously reported, AC/DC will support "Black Ice" with a North American tour that launches Oct. 28 in Wilkes-Barre, PA. The trek is set to visit US cities from coast to coast as well as a couple of Canadian provinces through late January. Stops include two-night stands in New York City; Rosemont, IL; Oakland, CA; and the Los Angeles area.

Most of the shows, which are listed below, are already sold out, according to AC/DC's website. The band has also assembled a European jaunt that stretches from February to April.

Add Jon Bon Jovi to the ever-growing list of artists who have been rankled by Republicans using their songs at rallies. This time, the offender is Sarah Palin, who has been using Bon Jovi’s 2006 hit “Who Says You Can’t Go Home.” Frontman Bon Jovi has made his political alliance abundantly clear, having hosted a $30,000-per-person fundraiser for Barack Obama at his New Jersey home. “We wrote this song as a thank you to those who have supported us over the past 25 years,” Bon Jovi said. “The song has since become a banner for our home state of New Jersey and the de facto theme song for our partnerships around the country to build homes and rebuild communities. Although we were not asked, we do not approve of their use of ‘Home.’” The McCain campaign maintains that they have made the necessary clearances for use of songs by Foo Fighters, Heart and others, but this is getting ridiculous.
