Mindless Self Indulgence

2010-11-28T23:44:00.000-08:00

Mindless Self Indulgence (often identified using the abbreviation MSI) is an American musical group formed in New York in 1997. Their music has a mixed style including punk rock, alternative rock, electronica, hip-hop, and industrial. Due to the style of their music lacking a definite genre, they coined the term 'Industrial Jungle Pussy Punk' to describe their music, but later, they denounced the term. Their group name is derived from a solo album that frontman, Jimmy Urine self-recorded in the mid-1990s.

The group was formed when Urine was joined by fellow musicians Steve, Righ?, Vanessa Y.T. (who was later replaced by LynZ) and Kitty. They have released four albums, two EPs, one live album, and one live DVD. Rather than signing traditional record contracts, the band has licensed most of their albums to record labels, retaining ownership of the music.

The group maintains a devout fanbase, and has opened for many well-known acts such as Linkin Park, System of a Down, Korn, Sum 41, Insane Clown Posse and Rammstein. Notable bands who have opened for them include The Dresden Dolls, Rasputina, mc chris, The Birthday Massacre, Tub Ring, Fake Shark - Real Zombie! and Dog Fashion Disco.

Greed Is Good !!

I personnaly don't like really modern music, and if I do its the more chilled stuff , however, I really like this, and the classic version of alicia by herself.

Alishia is a very good singer, she has incredible range and vocal strength, and she plays the piano and writes her own material.

This track is in the soundrtrack of 'Wall street - Money never sleeps' new movie by Oliver Stone.

Taylor Swift - Fifteen

'before you know who you're gonna be Fifteen'

My daughter will be 15 at May next year.

When you're 15 , you often take decisions that don't lead to an exactly fruitful future.

I think when you become 15 , you basiclly spend your time worrying about boys and being pretty and stuff.

As you get older in life , you realize its not so important...

We Can Work It Out

'Guess whos coming to dinner' - I love this movie--today I first saw the movie .

It has so much to say about humanity and cold judgement.

Sydney was the first one who predicted a black president, not to mention condoleza rice, a prediction we could have done without i might add, not because she was black but because she was a bush henchwoman.

I think that Poitier is one of the ten best actors of all time.

Great film !

Gold - You're Indestructable

I used to love this song as a teenager.

Nice song even in 2010!!

I used to say to my kids that the 80s produced total classic bands like Duran Duran, Wham and Police.

There is still good music out there, you just have to find it...

Out Here On My Own - I dry the tears I never show

2010-09-19T07:53:00.000-07:00

I remember when this was a smashing hit in the 80's that made EVERYONE cry...

Pop music used to be cool back then...

Some guy made a cover of it - COOOOL thing ever...

Sonic Syndicate

2010-09-13T12:27:00.000-07:00

Sonic Syndicate is a group of death-metal band from Falkenberg, Sweden. Is strongly influenced by other Swedish death metal bands like In Flames and Soilwork.

Sonic Syndicate was formed in 2002 under the name Fallen Angels, by Richard, Roger and Robin Sjunnesson. Under this name they recorded three demos, Fall from Heaven, Black Lotus and Extinction; then sign a contract with Pivotal Rockordings in 2005.
By signing the contract with Pivotal Rockordings the group changed its name to Sonic Syndicate, to record their first studio album, Eden Fire.

The group toured Sweden promoting her album Eden Fire, opening for Avatar. In early February 2006 during his tour with Avatar, Kristoffer Bäcklund (drums) left the group. He was replaced by John Bengtsson, and the band ended soon after the tour to begin preparing new material in March of that year.

In the summer of 2006, Sonic Syndicate entered a competition organized by one of the largest metal labels, Nuclear Blast. Among more than 1500 participants (groups) SS was elected one of three winners, which gave them the opportunity to sign a contract with the label. In November enter Black Lounge Studios, for recording after Eden Fire, Only Inhuman, with Jonas Kjellgren of Scar Symmetry. They made the video for the single "Denied", under the guidance of producer Patric Ullaeus.

Bad Romance - The best clip of 2010

Congratulations to Lady GaGa.

She finally got recognition for her art from the media (MTV Awards 2010)

I personally don't think she truly deserves it , but let it be...

I've never liked Lady Gaga, and haven't given her a chance.

After watching the awards tonight, I figured I'd watch this video again with a more open mind, and I must say, there's something in it!

Madame Bovary - Claude Chabrol RIP

2010-09-12T05:35:00.000-07:00

Claude Chabrol died today at the age of 80.

We remember him as the director of the controversial movie 'Madame Bovary' starring the erotic actress Isabelle Huppert.

Emma, a prosperous farmer's daughter, who marries a doctor, Charles Bovary .

He is a kind and gentle soul who adores her and wants nothing more than to make her happy. The problem is that he does not know how. Even Emma does not really know what would make her happy.

This is the story of Emma Bovary and her unhappy, wasted, shallow life. She is a woman who on the surface seems to have everything, an adoring, doting husband, a lovely, healthy daughter, an attractive well appointed home. Yet, she is unhappy. She loathes her husband, finding him pedantic and dull. She has little time for her daughter and seems to have little motherly instincts. What worldly goods she has never seem to ber enough.

Satyrian

2010-09-10T15:51:00.000-07:00

SATYRIAN is an international gothic rock band, combining dark atmospheric lyrics with wave, rock, classical orchestration, piano and heavy guitars.

The story of their new album "Eternitas" goes back to December 2002, when the band started recording at the Spacelab Studio in Germany. Though at the time they called themselves Danse Macabre, these were the early days for SATYRIAN. Recordings started with drummer Merijn Mol (Danse Macabre, The Dreamside), bassist Milos Marisevic (Danse Macabre) and composer / guitarist Jan "Örkki" Yrlund (Danse Macabre, ex- Lacrimosa, Prestige, Imperia, Angel, Delain). Piano and some clean vocals were supplied by producer Oliver Philipps (also in Everon). The band invited Kemi Vita (The Dreamside) as guest vocalist. Judith "Ciara" Stüber also took part in recording; she'd already joined the band for three songs on their previous album "Eva."

With a summer tour quickly approaching, the band invited their guests to join them. Guest vocalists Kemi and Judith gladly agreed, and producer Oliver also joined the band for this journey. At this point, the band was nearly complete. All that was missing was a final singer to complete the line-up. This they found in Roman Schönsee (ex- Pyogenesis, The Bloodline, The Dreamside). After rehearsals at Spacelab, the band headed to Finland for the tour. There, they also shot scenes in Lapland for an upcoming video with director Jari Koskela.

While on tour, the band and guests formed a bond not easily broken, and the guests were invited to join the band as full members. With the album still missing vocals, the band returned to Spacelab Studio in 2004. With all three vocalists experimenting with new sounds, the recordings were truly a creative process. Not only did they lay down the vocals, the band got carried away and recorded new piano, bass and orchestral parts. They also added an extra song to the mix. By June 2004, recordings were complete and the band adopted it's new moniker: SATYRIAN.

In autumn 2005, SATYRIAN's old record company agreed to the band's request to transfer the album and the band signed a new record deal with Lion Music Records.

The new album "Eternitas" consists of 12 songs in a wide variety of musical styles. From pure dark rock to danceable industrial beats, folk elements to classical atmosphere, the album runs the gammot of musical tastes. The contrast between the two male and two female voices define the band's sound. The guitar work varies from rock and metal riffing to melodic leads, often combined with piano. The lyrics are dark and atmospheric and offer a close look into deep personal emotions. It's an album about life and death, desire, fear, loss and eternity, the Eternitas.

Welcome to the SATYRIAN world!

Morgart

2010-08-30T08:58:00.000-07:00

This decade (80's) takes me back to when I used to listen to my walkman as I walked to school.

George is one of my favorite 80's artists.

I really miss the 80's... good music ... good times... good memories...

The Unvoiced

2010-08-13T08:48:00.000-07:00

... The Unvoiced comes from the collaboration of the two founding members, Julien B. and Amélie G. At the beginning it was only a voice and the strings of an old acoustic guitar. Some songs were create, others were forgotten but a thing always remained, the passion of music, the need to explore new avenues and especially, the dream of any artist, to make a career, a life… Julien and Amélie played music everywhere, in the basement, in the parks, the cemeteries, the music stores, anywhere… But, The Unvoiced, wished something more for a long time, the powerful sound, the harmonies, the melodies and... the solos!! Then Lucas P., a former friend of Julien, resurfaces, the same passion which bound them friendship at school, playing guitar, is never extinct. Lucas joined the band. Then, Jayson arrived at the drum but The Unvoiced is not really the musical style he was looking for, the motivation fades and he leaves the band. But soon Cédric A. and François D. join the ranks of The Unvoiced as drummer and bass player. The same members of an old formation, named Deceit, form now The Unvoiced, the band is complete around March and April 2007. In the following weeks and months, the practices and jams bring the creation of new songs to life… In 2009, The Unvoiced enters in studio for the first time to record their debut album, the date of the exit is still unknown but a regular update will keep you informed!! The Unvoiced is always opened to meet other bands for shows or eventual colaboration!!

So we dance ...

2010-08-12T02:50:00.000-07:00

This hit was released in September 2009 in Belgium and in February 2010 in the rest of Europe. The song reached the top position on the official music charts all over Europe...

The guy "played by Stromae himself" shows a guy stressed in work and in life basicly.

My older son discovered it 5 months ago...

He said it would become a smashing hit - he was right !

Axenstar

2010-08-04T09:18:00.000-07:00

AXENSTAR was formed by Peter Johansson (guitar) and Magnus Ek (bass) as a Metal-cover band 1998 under the name Powerage, after several member changes the line up that took the name Axenstar in 2001 was Magnus Eriksson (Vocals & Keyboards), Thomas Eriksson (lead & rhythm guitar), Peter Johansson (rhythm & lead guitar), Magnus Ek (bass) and Pontus Jansson (drums).

In October 2002 Axenstar released their debut album Perpetual Twilight on the Spanish label Arise Records. The second album Far From Heaven was recorded during May of 2003 and just about a week after the recordings were done Axenstar played at the mighty Sweden Rock Festival, which was a great experience for the band, and in January 2004 the opportunity was given to go ahead on their first European Tour as the opening act to Falconer.

The third album The Inquisition saw the light of day in 2005, but the same year Peter Johansson and Thomas Eriksson left the band. After that third release the contract with Arise Records was over and Axenstar started looking for a new deal, now joining forces with Joakim Jonsson (Psychopunch, Skyfire, Mist of Avalon) on lead guitar.

In the autumn of 2005 a new deal was signed with German label Massacre Records and in the spring of 2006 the fourth album The Final Requiem was recorded. After the release of the fourth album there were more changes to come within the band and bassplayer Magnus Ek and drummer Pontus Jansson soon left due to lack of time.
Drummer Thomas Ohlsson and bassist Henrik Sedell just stayed in the band for about a year.

In 2008 Magnus and Joakim recorded a new yet untitled album and in december 2008 drummer Adam Lindberg (Intrive) joined the band. A few months later guitarist Jens Klovegård (Liquid Suicide) also joined the band
We are on the hunt for almost any kind of shows or festivals!

Yauch for culture freedom

2010-08-03T01:12:00.000-07:00

Adam Yauch , the Beasty Boys star , has called the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) to reconsider again their decision about the adult rating to new Holocaust documentary "A Film Unfinished".

He said that the film is "too important" to be banned from the public and especially from schools.

The powerful documentary, written and directed by Yael Hersonski, documents an unfinished Nazi propaganda film shot in 1942.

Alive and Kicking

2010-07-29T23:28:00.000-07:00

This nice one from Simple Minds takes me back to a good time , when music was pure ...music.

I was just entering high school at the time that one was a smashing hit.

At first it sounds to me like U2 song - yet it is great Simple Minds.

What you gonna do when things go wrong?

What you gonna do when it all cracks up?

What you gonna do when the Love burns down?

What you gonna do when the flames go up?

Who is gonna come and turn the tide?

What's it gonna take to make a dream survive?

Who's got the touch to calm the storm inside?

Who's gonna save you?
