The machinations of fate have recently landed a string of excellent thrash releases on Dr. Steel’s lap. Besides, doesn’t everyone just go ape shit over the genre? For this installment, Teutonic anti-heroes Contradiction distill “The Essence of Anger.” Here are the good Doctor’s findings.

He may have never let on about his secret obsession in all his previous posts to date, but Dr. Steel is quite the, um…how do you put it nicely? A war junkie? Nah. Dr. Steel hates war movies. He thinks their storytelling is crap. But he does love weapons, and history as long as it pertains to the violent stuff, and guns, and conflict, and the science behind Russian military hardware. In fact, he even has a cardboard box in his attic full of newspaper clippings on Iraq. He has been collecting them since forever. If the reader is the well-informed type, then no doubt they’d be aware of the recent festivities in China last October 1. The People’s Republic just turned 60 years old and to cap the rather tedious “civilian” parade was an impressive display of tanks, personnel carriers, missiles of all sizes, self proppeled gns, fighter jets, helicopters, a whole section of female infantry in pink skirts totting these toylike submachineguns….

Anyway, what the fuck is Dr. Steel driving at? It actually has nothing to do with China and has everything to do with a spanking new album from Germany’s uncelebrated—you might say “cult”—thrash squad Contradiction. Their band logo brilliantly done in classic thrash fashion—solid letters and pointy edges—this hour long tour de force of theirs offers the genre’s favorite themes in spades: War, violence, nihilism, war–same old, same old. Naturally, Dr. Steel likey likey. Opened by a brief audioclip of George Bush, “Perfect Combatant” slides in with a bone breaking drum roll and it’s reigning blood within seconds. Contradiction are masters of nasty, violent fun with their brutal song craft, though it makes you wonder why the band hasn’t graduated to the ranks of Sodom, Destruction, and Kreator yet. Reeking of fire and destruction, pain and sacrifice, “The Essence of Anger” is a thrashing labor of hate resplendent with its martial overtones. Bearing hallmarks of everyone’s favorite Slayer, Forbidden, and Kreator, incinerating speed ignites the awesome songs to behold here: “Death Is Now,” “Life’s End,” “Collateral Carnage,” “The Spectator.” Their savagery is only matched by equally incinerating guitar pyrotechnics and high explosive barrages of percussion. Hellfueled by war and nihilism, without a doubt Contradiction are the four horsemen of the Thrashocalypse.

No wonder Dr. Steel likes them so much.

The debut full length album, Black Future, from Arizona based virtuosic thrashers VEKTOR will be released worldwide on November 17th 2009 but today HEAVY ARTILLERY is thrilled to offer an exclusive stream of forthcoming album.

VEKTOR employs an array of intricacy, virtuosity and a wholly unique sound that has set them apart from the growing legions of color-by-numbers thrash bands. Black Future is a seventy minute epic of diabolical space metal that stimulates the senses and challenges any preconceived limits to what a metal album can be. Welcome to the future; prepare to have your brains melted.

Conceived in 2004 by front man / guitarist David DiSanto and lead shredder Erik Nelson, VEKTOR quickly forged a name for themselves for their unique mix of technical, speed thrash and progressive influences. Going against the grain of the Phoenix metal scene, VEKTOR created a wave of interest with their self released CD Demolition (2006) and the ferocious two track demo Hunger for Violence (2007). After four years of local and regional gigging opening for such national acts as TESTAMENT, HIRAX, ICED EARTH and MUNICPAL WASTE, VEKTOR are preparing to hit the road for their first national tour in support of Black Future alongside label mates EXMORTUS.

I have been a die-hard fan of Stryper since an alcoholic accident I had back in 2006, nothing much but I after that I just started to listen to Stryper everyday. So 3 years later I have this awesome chance to see this amazing band live. The only thing that is in my way is if my boss lets me have a day off from work on the 28th of January next year, so I can drive the car to Gothenburh and just see the magic from a 4 piece band called Stryper. If this comes true I will shed a tear under my eye and I will be as happy as a child getting a lollipop, and you know what that means

Well for you who are into Stryper and want to check out their amazingness and awesomeness along will skillfulness, check out this acoustic live video below:
