Οι UFO υπήρξαν ένα απο τα σπουδαιότερα hard rock groups της δεκαετίας του 70.Αν και προυπήρχαν απο το 1969, έπρεπε να πάρουν ως κιθαρίστα τους τον σπουδαίο Michael Schenker για να κυκλοφορήσουν μαζί τα καλύτερα albums της καριέρας τους.Και το εν λόγω album είναι το πρώτο τους με το συγκεκριμένο line up.Δύσκολα μπορείς να βρεις δίσκο που να περιέχει τόσους πολλούς ύμνους του heavy rock.Το ''Doctor Doctor'' είναι πιθανότατα το κομμάτι που επηρρέασε πιο πολύ απο κάθε άλλο το New Wave Of British Heavy Metal κίνημα.Τα ''Oh My'', ''Rock Bottom'', ''Queen Of The Deep'' μαγεύουν με τον συνδυασμό δύναμης και μελωδίας να συναρπάζει και τα ''Crystal Light'' και ''Space Child'' είναι υπέροχες μπαλάντες που δεν έγιναν ποτέ επιτυχίες όπως το ''Belladonna''.Τέλος, στο άκουσμα του ''Lipstick Traces'', φαίνεται η μουσική παιδεία και η απίστευτη αίσθηση της μελωδίας που έχει ο σπουδαίος Γερμανός κιθαρίστας.Οι UFO με το Phenomenon έφτασαν το απόγειο της καριέρας τους καλλιτεχνικά, και το κατέστησαν βασικό και αγέρωχο album για κάθε στοιχειωδώς ενημερωμένη rock δισκοθήκη.

Ενα νέο και ενδιαφέρον συγκρότημα που με τον ήχο του ημνεί το classic rock και με αυτό το τρόπο διαφέρει από τα περισσότερα rock συγκροτήματα του σήμερα. Φαίνεται να συνδέονται με το group Jackass και έχουν ήδη συμπεριληφθεί αρκετά κομάτια τους σε παιχνίδια όπως το Flatout 2. Αυτό το συκρότημα μπήκε δυναμικά στο χώρο της μουσικής και απ'ότι φαίνεται σκοπεύει να ριζώσει! Τα δυνατά κιθαριστικά τους κομάτια θυμίζουν άλλες εποχές και ξέρουν να στέλνουν το πάθος τους μέσω της μουσικής τους.

Αυτός ο μουσικός δίσκος κρύβει ένα όμορφο περιεχόμενο και συνδυάζει τόσο τη μουσική που έχει alternative ρίζες όσο και αυτή της classic rock. Γενικότερα φέροντας τα ελαφρότερα στοιχεία rock αυτή η μπάντα έχει στόχο να διευρύνει το μουσικό της ακροατήριο. Παρόλα αυτά έχουν συνθέσει κομάτια που φέρουν μουσική τεχνική και διακρίνεται η προσπάθειά τους μέσα στα κομάτια τους. Πολύ ενδιαφέρον παρουσίασαν τα τραγούδια τους Human και Beasts, τα οποία είχαν προβληθεί αρκετές φορές από τα μουσικά κανάλια και υποδηλώνουν ότι κρύβουν και αρκετά mainstream στοιχεία. Αξίζουν ωστόσο λίγη προσοχή.

Μιλάμε για το τελευταίο album ενός από τα πιο μακρόβια και εμπορικά επιτυχημένα συγκροτήματα του heavy rock , των Scorpions.

Πρόκειται όπως έχουν πει κι οι ίδιοι για το soundtrack μιας ειρηνικής επανάστασης που υποστηρίζει ότι τα προβλήματα που αντιμετωπίζει ο σύγχρονος άνθρωπος είναι τα ίδια που αντιμετώπιζε από την αρχική του εμφάνιση στη γη. Στο ένθετο αναφέρεται ότι το concept αφορά τη μάχη ανθρώπων με robot και ότι η μόνη λύση για τον άνθρωπο είναι να διατηρήσει την ανθρωπιά του. Όμως οι στίχοι είναι πολύ πιο βαθιοί απ' αυτό...

Ο ήχος είναι σαφώς περισσότερο σύγχρονος και πιο μελωδικός απ' το προηγούμενο album τους (Unbreakable) χωρίς όμως να έχει την αξεπέραστη έντασή του. Οι Scorpions εξακολουθούν να επηρεάζουν τα σύγχρονα συγκροτήματα με τον ήχο τους γεγονός που το αποδεικνύει η συμμετοχή του Billy Corgan των Smashing Pumpkins στο τραγούδι 'The Cross'. Αξίζει να σημειωθεί ότι το Humanity περιέχει τις ωραιότερες και ωριμότερες συνθέσεις του lead guitarist Matthias Jabs ('We Were Born To Fly' , 'We Will Rise Again' , 'Love Is War' κτλ.). Αποτελεί ένα αξιοπρεπέστατο album που περιέχει 12 διαμάντια με κορυφαίες στιγμές τα 'Humanity' , 'Hour I', 'We Were Born To Fly' και την ανεπανάληπτη μπαλάντα 'The Future Never Dies' και αποδεικνύει τη συνέπεια του συγκροτήματος που συνεχίζει να ροκάρει, να συναρπάζει και να συγκινεί. Έν έτει 1983, το progressive rock περνούσε μία απο τις δυσκολότερες φάσεις της ιστορίας του.Τα συγκροτήματα-μεγαθήρια της δεκαετίας του 70 έβγαζαν τους χειρότερους δίσκους της καριέρας τους, και το progressive εκπροσωπούταν αξιοπρεπώς απο μπάντες του underground χώρου.Η εμφάνιση των Marillion με το εκπληκτικό ντεμπούτο τους ήταν καταλυτική για το ιδίωμα.Σαφώς επηρρεασμένοι από Genesis εποχής Peter Gabriel, οι Marillion μαγεύουν με την μουσική τους η οποία είναι σκοτεινή, ατμοσφαιρική, αλλά και τεχνική με έντονη την αίσθηση της μελωδίας.Οι στίχοι του Fish ,τού οποίου η κύρια επιρροή είναι ο Peter Gabriel τόσο στον τρόπο ερμηνείας των κομματιών όσο και στην σκηνική παρουσία,είναι θεατρικοί,δραματικοί και εντελώς προσωπικοί.Το Script είναι ένα καταπληκτικό album που θα συναρπάσει όποιον αναζητά πραγματική ποιοτική μουσική, πράγμα που δυστυχώς σπανίζει στις μέρες μας...

Όταν αποφασίζεις να γράψεις κριτική για ένα συγκρότημα σαν τους Pink Floyd ξέρεις ότι δεν είναι και το πιο εύκολο πράγμα στον κόσμο. Πόσο μάλλον για ένα album σαν αυτό. Όμως, από όποια ματιά κι αν το κοιτάξεις πρόκειται για ένα συγκλονιστικό, αριστουργηματικό μουσικό έργο τέχνης που κατάφερε να παραμείνει για 14 χρόνια στο Top-100!
Τα τέσσερα μέλη του συγκροτήματος καταφέρνουν να ακούγονται σαν ένα εναίο, αναπόσπαστο σύνολο. Παράλληλα οι στίχοι που κρύβουν την αλήθεια της σύγχρονης ζωής, είναι αδύνατο να μην συγκινήσουν όλους, όσους θα αφεθούν στο άκουσμα του δίσκου.
Επίσης, η παραγωγή του Alan Parsons στο εν λόγω album ήταν πολύ πρωτοποριακή για την εποχή της, αφού καταφέρε να ακούγονται όλα τα όργανα καθαρότατα και ενσωμάτωσε ήχους όπως ο χτύπος του ρολογιού ή μιας ταμιακής μηχανής στα κομμάτια, δημιουργώντας ένα άρτιο σύνολο.
Το στιχουργικό περιεχόμενο του album, που συνοδεύεται με την προοδευτική rock μουσική των Pink Floyd, καταπιάνεται αρχικά με προβλήματα, όπως οι ρυθμοί της σύγχρονης ζωής, η αξιοποίηση του πάντα λίγου διαθέσιμου χρόνου, η κριτική του καπιταλιστικού συστήματος και κατ' επέκταση της διαφθοράς ως αποτέλεσμα του χρήματος, οι διαπροσωπικές σχέσεις και καταλήγει στην συνειδητοποίηση της εφήμερης αξίας της ανθρώπινης ζωής, η οποία πολλές φορές οδηγεί στην παράνοια.
Από το 1973 που κυκλοφόρησε και 34 χρόνια μετά, το Dark Side Of The Moon καταφέρνει να μένει επίκαιρο και πολλές φορές προφητικό για τα όσα συμβαίνουν γύρω μας σήμερα. Ταυτόχρονα, αποτελεί ένα βασικό παράδειγμα προς μίμηση για όποιον μουσικό επιθυμεί να δημιουργήσει ένα σοβαρό concept δίσκο.

Ο δίσκος αυτός είναι ένα από τα νεότερα αμερικάνικα κομμάτια που θυμίζουν τις αμερικάνικες σκηνές των ταινιών με ένα αμάξι στην απόλυτη έρημο. Εχει πλούσιο εμπλουτισμό με κιθάρα και τα φωνητικά είναι κάτι το επίσης ξεχωριστό και δυσεύρετο. Το συγκρότημα είναι σχεδόν οι πρώην Rage Against The Machine με μόνη εξαίρεση τον τραγουδιστή τους. Ο ήχος τους φέρει σε classic rock με βελτιωτικά, όμως, στοιχεία.

Αυτός ο δίσκος αντικατοπτρίζει τη μουσική διαύγεια του μεγάλου αυτού συγκροτήματος και ακόμα αποδεικνύει μια άλλη διάσταση που έκρυβαν στον ήχο τους όλα αυτά τα χρόνια. Η μουσική του δίσκου αυτού είναι ένα πολύ ενδιαφέρον κομμάτι και είναι πολλά υποσχόμενη για το μέλλον. Είναι ευφυής, εναλλασόμενη και προοδευτική.
