SLEEPY LABEEF - RIDES AGAIN

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Wed, 27 Apr 2016 21:21:00 +0000

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fZ02Q6VJqwendofvid[starttext] Trailer for the new music film "Sleepy LaBeef Rides Again", which made its world premiere in 2013 at the Nashville Film Festival and is now available exclusively from www.earwavemusic.com.

The movie profiles the legendary rockabilly and roots music performer, who at the age of 76 can still bring down the house with his booming voice and driving guitar. Known to many of his fans as "The Human Jukebox," Sleepy knows thousands of songs, ranging from rockabilly to blues, country, gospel, folk and more. He is the living embodiment of the history of what is now called Americana Music.

Directed by Seth Pomeroy, "Rides Again" features Sleepy onstage backed by an all-star Nashville band led by bassist/producer Dave Pomeroy, featuring Kenny Vaughan, Rick Lonow, and Gene Dunlap. The riveting live performances run the gamut of LaBeef's huge stylistic range. Four short documentary segments include interviews with roots music historian and author Peter Guralnick, archival clips, and "live in the studio" footage at historic RCA Studio B.

The DVD and companion soundtrack CD was released by Earwave Records on April 23, 2013, and is now available online at www.earwavemusic.com. [endtext]

Volare ( Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu) Lyrics

Penso che un sogno così
non ritorni mai più,
mi dipingevo le mani
e la faccia di blu,
poi d'improvviso venivo
dal vento rapito,
e incominciavo a volare
nel cielo infinito.

Volare oh oh
cantare oh oh oh oh,
nel blu dipinto di blu,
felice di stare lassù,
e volavo volavo
felice più in alto del sole
ed ancora più sù,
mentre il mondo
pian piano spariva lontano laggiù,
una musica dolce suonava
soltanto per me.

Volare oh oh
e cantare oh oh oh oh,
nel blu dipinto di blu
felice di stare lassù.

Ma tutti i sogni
nell'alba svaniscon perchè,
quando tramonta la luna
li porta con se,
ma io continuo a sognare
negli occhi tuoi belli,
che sono blu come un cielo
trapunto di stelle.

Volare oh oh
cantare oh oh oh oh,
nel blu degli occhi tuoi blu,
felice di stare qua giù,
e continuo a volare felice
più in alto del sole
ed ancora più su,
mentre il mondo
pian piano scompare
negli occhi tuoi blu,
la tua voce è una musica
dolce che suona per me.

Volare oh oh
e cantare oh oh oh oh,
nel blu degli occhi tuoi blu,
felice di stare qua giù,
nel blu degli occhi tuoi blu,
felice di stare qua giù
con te.

Lee Rocker - Rockabilly Slap Bass

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Wed, 18 Mar 2015 15:14:00 +0000

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bAba-JrjQYendofvid[starttext] Since the 1950s, when the Memphis-based rockabilly sound first swept the world, the acoustic upright bass has remained its showpiece and rhythmic mainstay. Lee Rocker, one of the masters of the "new wave" of rockabilly musicians, has made an informative and entertaining DVD that teaches the intricacies of the exciting slap bass style to players of all levels.

Slap bass combines the plucking of the bottom notes with the percussive hits that the palm makes when it slaps the strings against the fingerboard. By adding these right-hand techniques to blues bass lines and arpeggios, you'll create spectacular multi-rhythmic slapping that will stop any show! This DVD also provides valuable tips on amplification, bass set-up and other methods of getting the best possible sound.

Big Blue's hot performances of Goin' To Kansas City, Big Blue Train, That's All Right Mama, The Hucklebuck and Find Another Man illustrate how rockabilly slap bass techniques sound in the context of a live band performance. [endtext]

Keep on Rockin' and Honky Tonkin'

Before it is too late
And teach them how to bow their heads
Before they seal their fate... [endtext]
