Today it is easy to laugh and dismiss these movies but it is a view of the future as seen from another time, a time when many believed invasion from space was a distinct possibility and special effects were in their infancy.

Sometimes dismissed as the poor man’s Wild Women Of Wongo, Prehistoric Women really holds a place of its own in the hearts of the fans of this genre.
Made eight years earlier than Wongo it has great educational value showing us the invention of fire, cooking, shaving, tree
houses, the swan dive and Womens Liberation. Its influence on Wongo cannot be denied – both films leading male character are named Engor and both include a female dominance theme. Once again ignored by the Academy Awards in 1950 with best picture going to All About Eve.

Although it will never be taken seriously by the film students of the world, it remains a classic to that group of film buffs who admire the genre of sci-fi fantasy films of the fifties and sixties.
Made at a time when a man could walk out of his accounting firm and follow his dream of being a film director, James L. Walcott was such a man. Whether he was serious is a mystery, perhaps all he wanted was to watch scantily clad women wrestle on a beach?

In 1952 Republic produced its most expensive serial to date. The making of Radar Men From The Moon involved a new standard of special effects created by the Lydecker Brothers and a story line so exciting it would offer the opportunity to use thousands of feet of stock footage. Hollywood’s finest stunt men would painfully choreograph fight scenes in which no piece of furniture was safe.

Starring Commando Cody (dressed suitably for the Moon’s surface in aluminum helmet, leather jacket, woollen slacks and shoes) as the only man who can save the Earth. Cody bumbles along losing valuable equipment, constantly putting his staff in life threatening situations and losing the majority of the fist fights. The terrible threat of Moon Attack is finally quashed. The Moon Men (whose biggest problem seems to be their inability to gain control over their financial affairs) are destroyed and peace returns to the Earth.
