What is the purpose of the Bible?

When the Torah mentions that Moses wrote things down, the purpose is three-fold: First, the purpose is to remember and retell the story about how God rescues his covenant people (Exodus 17:8-9, 14). Second, Scripture becomes the terms of the partnership between God and Israel, much like marriage vows (Exodus 24:3-4). Third, it functions as a story of the people’s failure and God’s plan to raise up a prophet to come (Deuteronomy 31:19-26).

There is always a conenction gap readers of the Bible feel between the OT and the NT.

How Jesus viewed the Bible: Jesus viewed the Hebrew Bible as a story about himself, and says that it tells the story of the Messiah’s suffering and resurrection, and new life for humanity (Luke 24:44-47).
How Paul viewed the Bible: Paul says that the Hebrew Bible is wisdom literature that will help people understand their need for rescue by the Messiah (2 Timothy 3:14-17).
The Story the TaNaK tells: The shape of the Hebrew Bible--the TaNaK--establishes the need for a future prophet to come. The portrait is filled out by the “seams” of the TaNaK--the beginning and end of each major section of the Torah, Prophets (Nevi’im), and Writings (Kethuvim).
The ends of the Torah and the Prophets (Deuteronomy 34:10-12 and Malachi 4:1-4) correspond to each other in their themes, and together describe a future prophet to come, like Moses and Elijah, who will be a powerful leader, know God face-to-face, and bring life and healing and vindication to humanity.
The beginnings of the Prophets and Writings (Joshua 1:7-8 and Psalm 1:1-3) further describe this leader as a righteous one, who will bring success to the nations.
The story of the Bible ends still waiting for this future prophet to come. The New Testament opens with the Gospels, where Jesus is shown to fulfill the role created by the TaNaK shape.

The definition of Truth is Exclusive. which does not include in the common. Christian Truth is the trust in a person. The person of Jesus Christ.

In the conversation with Pilate, he asks Jesus, what is the truth and walks away. We have actually no account of what exact conversation has happened. However from the account of the Bible we understand that it is the Gospel that was told to Pilate. How do we infer the same, from the following verses:

The reference of Truth: In John 7:17 Jesus says : Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching comes from God or I speak on my own."

The action of Truth: In John 8:32& 33, Jesus Says " If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free." In this two verses we understand that if you have a conformation that Jesus is the teacher you will keep you mind free from other elements and it will be free to GOD. Also Jesus is affirming that he is the Teacher from God.

The Ultimate Goal of the Truth: In John 14:6 &7 Jesus Says " I am the WAY and the TRUTH and the LIFE. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on , you do know him and have seen him. what Jesus really means is that He is the truth that you are looking for. He is the ultimate teacher of the truth and you will know that GOD the father has his path through him. Eventually deciding that Jesus is the only way for reaching the infinity GOD.

The Cross: The reason of the Death, the Resurrection and Life is because he is the ultimate truth for connecting you with GOD.

Closure Verse: 1 John 2:4,5,6 - Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person.

But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him:

Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.

Jesus predicted the occurrence of false gifts, particularly in the end time (Matthew 24:24, 7:22,23). Hence while spiritual gifts are very important for a Christian the fruit of the spirit is a better test of the genuineness of a person.

I have understood from the Bible that the Church of God is founded on 7 basic teachings. These teachings were propoganded by the apostles of Jesus Christ

Repentance ( Mark1: 4 Luke 3:3)
Baptism (Mathews 28: 18 & 19)
Gift of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:9,10,11 1 Corinthians 12:13)
Teachingsof the Apostles ( Mathew 28:20 1 Corinthians 15:1,2,3,4)
Fellowship of Believers
Lords Table ( 1 Corinthians 11: 23 -32)

These are the basic fundamentals required for a christian church, if any body violats these fundamental teachings it does not come under the perview of God's church.
