Spy-ware is Internet jargon for Advertising Supported software (Ad-ware). It is a way for shareware authors to make money from a product, other than by selling it to the users. There are several large media companies that offer them to place banner ads in their products in exchange for a portion of the revenue from banner sales. This way, you don't have to pay for the software and the developers are still getting paid. If you find the banners annoying, there is usually an option to remove them, by paying the regular licensing fee.

The most of spyware is Adware. The main purpose of an adware program is to capture "anonymous" data for targeted advertising. Adware is usually just an annoyance, but sometimes it can cause greater difficulties.

The less common spyware programs is called Malware. Malware is a program that designed to cause problems with computer. Malware include viruses, Trojan horse programs, and certain forms of hijacking spyware. These types of spyware are written to get personal information such as email passwords, internet banking passwords, credit card numbers, and social security numbers for fraud. Many of spyware can change default program settings to allow an attacker access to the computer, or monitor a user's keystrokes to get information. The information is then sent off to the attacker via email without user knowledge or intervention.

Membersihkan paging file pada saat Shutdown

Pada saat anda bekerja dengan membuka beberapa program pada komputer, maka otomatis akan banyak memory yang terpakai dan tentu saja akan memperlambat kinerja dari sistem. Nah disinilah kegunaan dari paging file, paging file bekerja untuk "mengelabui" suatu program agar berfikir bahwa masih ada memory lebih yang tersedia dari memori sebenarnya (actual memory) yang ada.

Dengan demikian sebagian memori yang digunakan program akan ditukar ke dalam hardisk (swaaped), yang berati bahwa ada informasi yang mungkin tertinggal pada komputer anda bahkan saat anda sudah selesi bekerja, dan akan di loading kembali pada saat anda menyalakan komputer, yang tentu saja akan memperlambat loading komputer anda.

Nah untuk membersihkan paging file secara otomatis pada saat shutdown adalah dengan mengedit sistem registry, caranya yaitu :

Klik start -> run dan ketik :"regedit" (tanpa tanda kutip)
Dan temukan HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management.
Cari ClearPageFileAtShutdown entry, double klik dan masukkan angka 1 pada value data box

Bagaimana membackup registry

Ketika anda menginstal suatu program atau merubah konfigurasi system, maka perubahan telah dibuat pada registry komputer anda. Untuk memeriksa registry dan merubah suatu nilai registry secara manual anda dapat menggunakan registry editor, tetapi tindakan ini sangat beresiko dan bisa membuat system tidak stabil jika melakukan perubahan yang tidak benar.

Jika ingin melakukan perubahan registry secara manual, lebih baik anda melakukan backup registry terlebih dahulu agar jika terjadi perubahan registry yang tidak diinginkan pada komputer, anda dapat mengembalikan kondisi registry pada keadaan semula.

Nah, untuk melakukan backup registry secara manual (Win Xp/Win 98/) tanpa bantuan software adalah sebagai berikut :

Buka registry editor melalui start->run dan ketikan "regedit" (tanpa tanda quote)
Ketika jendela registry editor terbuka, klik kanan mycomputer atau ke menu "file" dan pilih export.
Kemudian save registry tersebut dan beri nama misal, backup reg dan simpan.
Untuk me load backup registry lakukan hal yang sama pada langkah 1 dan 2, tapi lakukan perintah import.

Bagaimana menghapus file yang sulit dihapus?

Suatu ketika, teman saya pernah bertanya, bagaimana menghapus sebuah file di windows explorer yang tidak mau dihapus, sudah dicoba beberapa kali tetapi tetap saja keluar pesan berupa peringatan yang memberitahukan bahwa file masih digunakan oleh sisten. Padahal aplikasi yang menyertai file tersebut sudah di uninstal atau tidak ada.
Ya, saya pun pernah mengalami hal seperti ini, mungkin anda juga.

Umumnya file baru bisa dihapus setelah komputer di restart atau di reboot dengan mode dos. Namun, cara seperti ini akan banyak menyita waktu. Setelah mencari beberapa solusi di internet dan buku saya menemukan tips untuk menghapus file ini tanpa restart.

Caranya, klik "Start | All Programs | Accessories | Commad Prompt" dan ketikkan "Taskmgr.Exe" atau melalui "Start | run ". Didalam Windows Task Menager masuk ke tab "Processes" dan lakukan "End Process" terhadap "Explorer.Exe". Kembali ke "Command Prompt" dan arahkan ke folder dimana fike yang akan dihapus berada. Hapus file dengan perintah "del". Kemudian pada "Windows Task Manager" aktifkan kembali "Explorer.Exe" melalui perintah "File | New task | dan isikan dengan "Explorer.Exe" lalau tekan "Enter"

DivX menjadi format yang ideal untuk internet, ukurannya kecil sehingga dapat dipertukarkan dengan cepat, tetapi berkualitas bagus.

Ada beberpa istilah yang perlu dikatahui bagi pengguna DivX :

VOB (Video Objects) :
Format file pada DVD yang umumnya berisi video/audio dengan proteksi tinggi

Deinterlaced :
Gambar televisi ditampilkan secara bergantian antara baris-baris genap/ganjil. Deinterlacing adalah proses penggabungan kedua bagian gambar tersebut, misalnya untuk ditampilkan pada monitor PC

Demux (Demultiplexing) :
Pemecahan stream video menjadi file video dan file audio

Mux (Multiplexing) :
Penggabungan track video dan audio menjadi file AV

B (Bidirectional)-Frames :
Gambar terkompresi dalam video MPEG yang tak berisi informasi gambar. Isinya adalah vektor gerak. vektor ini menggambarkan gerakan elemen-elemen gambar pada frame-frame sebelumnya (i-frames)

Multipass/2-pass :
Encoding dalam beberapa tahap, dalam setiap tahap dilakukan proses efisiensi dan optimalisasi dengan menghitung ulang pembagian bitrate. Karena itu, 2-pass lebih lama, tetapi lebih baik hasilnya dibandingkan 1-pass.

AVS (AviSynth-Sript) :
File script yang digunakan untuk mengendalikan tool frame-server AviSynth.

Q-Pel (Qurter-Pixel) :
Penghalusan Vektor gerak, misalnya dalam B-Frames, hingga ke level 1/4 pixel.

GMC (Global Motion Compensation) :
Menggambarkan gerak cepat kamera dengan sedikit vektor gerak, dimana sebagian besar gambar bergerak secara linier.

DTS (Digital Theater System) :
Format Multichanel saingan Dolby Digital AC3, yang dijadikan sebagai format audio standar untuk DVD Video.

DVD2AVI :
Software untuk mengkonversi file VOB dalam sebuah DVD Video ke format AVI-container yang banyak digunakan.

Blue Screen of Death (BSOD)

Pengguna windows mungkin pernah mengalami setidaknya sekali, windows stop errors atau “blue screen of death”. tiba-tiba saja layar monitor menjadi biru yang berisi pesan-pesan error seperti salah satu gambar dibawah ini :

Kadangkala jika sedang beruntung problem ini akan teratasi sendiri hanya dengan mereboot komputer.

Apa itu Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) ?

BSOD atau windows stop message terjadi ketika windows memdeteksi suatu problem atau error yang tidak bisa di recover oleh windows iru sendiri, Sistem operasi terhenti dan informasi diagnostik nya ditampilkan dalam bentuk blue screen, seperti itulah kira-kira penjabaran sederhananya.

Menganalisis BSOD

Tipikal dari Windows Xp stop message dibagi kedalam 4 bagian, seperti gambar di atas :

Bagian 1 atau bugcheck information memperlihatkan angka dari stop error (dalam hexadecimal), yaitu informasi mengapa sistem operasi berhenti dan text yang menyebutkan nama dari suatu error dalam kasus ini “DRIVER_IRQI_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.”
Bagian 2 adalah bagian yang memberikan petunjuk umum untuk megatasi error tersebut atau disebut juga ‘recommended user action’.
Bagian 3 adalah “driver information” yang mengandung info vital tentang file driver yang berhubungan dengan blue screen, biasanya akan muncul disini.
bagian 4 adalah ‘debug port and status information’ yang memberikan petunjuk tentang prosedur.

Mungkin inilah penjelasan singkat bagaimana menganalisis bluescreen.

Mengaktifkan kembali file *.dll

Suatu waktu kita mungkin pernah mendapatkan pesan yang memberitahukan bahwa sebuah file .dll hilang atau missing. Tapi ternyata file tersebut masih ada setelah kita mencarinya di windows, Nah ada suatu cara dimana kita akan mengaktifkan kembali file .dll tersebut yaitu7 dengan perintah “regsvr32″.

Jika menemui kejadian seperti ini, yakinkan dulu bahwa file .dll yang missing itu sebenarnya masih ada di windows. Kemudian untuk mengaktifkannya masuklah Start kemudian masuk ke menu run kemudian ketikan regsvr32[spasi]nama file .dll tersebut dan tekan Ok.

Note : Mengapa file .dll ini tidak aktif, ini kadang terjadi ketika software atau aplikasi baru selesai diinstall. untuk lebih jelasnya mungkin akan ditampilkan pada tulisan saya yang akan datang.

Tips unik membuat file pdf bersuara alias ngomong

Jangan heran kalau ternyata file pdf bisa bersuara alias ngomong, mau tau caranya?
buka sebuah file pdf (berisi teks english atau indonesia tidak masalah), tapi anda harus membukanya dengan Adobe Reader Versi 6 keatas-saya belum mencoba dengan versi 6 ke bawah- setelah terbuka cari halaman yang ada teksnya (jangan gambar saja, tapi gambar yang ada teksnya juga bisa) kemudian tekan :

Ctrl+shift+b - untuk mendengarkan seluruh isi dokumen

Ctrl+shift+v - untuk mendengarkan halaman yang sedang dibuka

Ctrl+shift+c - untuk mengulang

Ctrl+Shift+E - untuk memberhentikan suara

Tips Chatting dengan (terjemahan) Al-quran

Dalam rangka menyambut bulan puasa tahun ini, saya akam memberikan tips bagaimana cara chatting dengan Al-quran melalui Yahoo! Messenger. Versi Yahoo! Messenger yang digunakan disusahakan versi 6 keatas.

Pertama, anda login dulu ke Yahoo! Messenger
kemudian, pada menu "contact" pilid "add contact" kemudian masukkan id "quran.noble"
Klik next ikuti sampai confirm selesai. setelah selesai, lakukan pengetesan ke id tersebut, misalnya dengan mengetikan quran id 112:1-4 pada jendela "instan message". Arti dari quran id 112:1-4 adalah quran id surat_no:dari_ayat - sampai_ayat (surat al-ikhlas:ayat 1 - 4)

Anda bisa mengisi surat apa saja yang ingin ditampilkan , tepi saran saya jangan memasukkan ayat terlalu panjang (sebaiknya bertahap) karena akan nge flood terus sampai selesai.
