Rockwood Valley will be open this summer daily from 8:00am until 2:30pm. Please note office staff will be at lunch between 11:30am and 12:30pm.

Please call ahead to schedule appointments with the principals, counselors or registrar.

Order Your My Pack School Supplies

Ordering your school supplies has never been easier. Visit Rockwood Valley’s MyPack page and purchase your grade level specific supplies without leaving your house. Your MyPack will be delivered to school and will be ready for pick-up during orientation August 6.

The spring special runs now through June 15. Like American School Supply on Facebook and receive a $5 MyPack Pass.

The Missouri Association of School Librarians has announced the nominees for the 2013-2014 Readers’ Awards. These books would make great summer reading for Rockwood Valley students.

Congratulations Track and Field Athletes!

Congratulations to 1,300+ student athletes who participated in the district-wide elementary and middle school track and field meets held during the month of May. The track and field meets are just one of several district-wide athletic events that take place for students each year. Thanks to all the Physical Education teachers who committed their time to preparing students for the events.

Hershey’s Track and Field Games are coming to Lafayette High School on Wednesday, May 29, 2013. Join in the fun by competing in basic track and field events. View more information and register today!

Community Ed’s Track and Field Instructional Program is for athletes of all ability levels and introduces kids to the fun of of the sport. Led by trained coaches, athletes practice twice per week and participate in two intra-squad meets. The program is being offered at Lafayette and Rockwood Summit High Schools and runs June 3-July 20. Eighth Grade Dance and Farwell Pictures

Eighth Grade Farewell Ceremony

The Eighth Grade Farewell Ceremony will take place Wednesday, May 22, 2013, in the RVMS gym, starting at 7:00pm. Students should arrive to this event and meet in the upstairs hallways, no later than 6:30pm. Parents please note parking and seating is limited.

The ceremony is for all currently-enrolled 8th grade students who are leaving RVMS.

Dress code - No jeans or T-shirts.

Boys – khakis or dress pants and a collared shirt
Girls – blouse with skirt or slacks, or dress.

A reception will be held in the commons immediately following the ceremony. Complimentary refreshments will be served.

LifeTouch photo services will be taking photos throughout the evening. Pictures will be available to be viewed and purchased online shortly after the ceremony.

Be sure to check with your child to see what left over supplies they have from this past school year that may be able to be used again next year.

No Bus Passes Last Week of School

During the last week of school no bus passes will be accepted by the RVMS office. Students must ride their own bus or provide their own transportation home. This includes the last day of school, which is an early release-day.

RVMS Band to Perform at Cards Game – Order Tickets Now

The Rockwood Valley Cadet and Concert Band have been invited to perform the National Anthem at the St. Louis Cardinals vs. Seattle Mariners Game on Friday, September 13, 2013. The entire RVMS community is invited to Rockwood Valley Night at Busch Stadium.

If you are interested in attending this fun event, please complete the order form and send it in with your check (made payable to RVMS) to the Rockwood Valley Welcome Center, care of John Menner.

The campgrounds can be tough to find at night. Please look carefully for signs if you are heading to camp.

This is Administrative Professionals Week and Rockwood salutes all the administrative professionals who help make our schools and departments run so effectively.

Karen Landwehr, an administrative professional at Rockwood Valley Middle School, is a key member of the school community and an important resource for parents.

Bridgitte Underwood, a parent to four boys who have all attended Rockwood Valley, says Landwehr has a special gift. "We've worked closely through the years and Karen works behind the scenes to make everything work. She goes above and beyond no matter how large or small the issue. The best thing about seeing Karen is that she makes everyone feel welcome!"

Principal Dr. Andrew Loiterstein agrees with Underwood. "Karen knows everything that's going on. She's an invaluable member of the Rockwood Valley community. She makes everyone feel welcome and everyone loves her!"

DESE Parent Survey: Services for Special Education

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) is gathering information from parents who have a child(ren) who receives special education services.

Below is a link to a copy of the survey with two options for submission: online or mail. This survey is confidential; individual responses are not shared with the school district or anyone else.

All surveys should be completed by May 10, 2013.

Physical Exams for Incoming Sixth Graders

Rockwood School District requires a student health examination for all students entering sixth grade. If your child has had a physical after the start of the current school year, it will fulfill this requirement. A copy of the health examination form is attached for your convenience

If your child’s physical exam is completed before the end of this school year, please send the form to your child’s elementary school nurse. If the examination is completed over the summer, please mail it to the middle school nurse where your child will be attending.
