Just some thoughts.
I love video games always have really. Since the dawn of the ability to control sprites across a screen from left to right with a poorly constructed assortment of plastic and circuit boards i.e. a JOYstick I have played and lost myself to video games. Even well in to my current 28th year of life (desperately trying to rationalize the fact that I still play them to myself and current girlie). Video...thanks, for the happiness and joy you bring me. But this post isn't about the joy perse its about the pains and aches of being a gamer.
I used t suffer from a condition that could be called non-finish-itis. A sever and serious condition that stems and catalyses from owning too many current and past gen systems as well as the beloved games that go with those systems. Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, N64, PS2, SNES, GBA, 3DS, PC (Steam etc.) and on and on and on....
SO.
That was a problem for a good amount as I grew from begging my padre and mama for a certain video game system with a certain game to a mature grown man-child. Single, employed and plenty of disposable income. The problem became sever the more disposable income I had. I would purchase new games, old games, repurchase via Steam etc. The fact of the matter was that I was over whelmed and found it almost impossible to finish any game with few exceptions i.e. Mass Effect 2, DeadSpace, etc and etc. Few and far between. Not to say that I did not have other games that were just if not better than the games mentioned. I unlike my waiting habits am indeed a very finicky gamer. I like a certain mix of ingredients in my games, avoiding "tripple A" and opting for perhaps a more obscure title or even a underground hit, or I just knew the game I like and sought to find that in other games i.e Ico Zelda etc.
SO.
Suffering from a current predicament of unemployment and non-disposable income I now face a different condition. NG+ - itis. In other words, finish the games once and be lured into replaying the games via the New Game Plus's perks such as "God mode" and such others.
In particular Demons Souls, There is no maxing out or ending the game you keep replaying leveling up collecting souls becoming God, white world, black world tendencies yada yada. (the game has DEPTH)
Currently playing a stolen version of DeadSpace 2 via Black Friday (long story) I am leveling up my suit and weapons for the sole purpose of coming back into the game in NG+ and destroying the sht out of necromorphs with disdain and regard. Wait....wtf....I am playing through a game, with the intention and goal to beat it just SO I CAN COME BACK AND PLAY THROUGH IT AGAIN?
This is where someone scream "your doing it wrong"
What the hell happend to me? How did I go from barely being able to finishing a game to only finishing the game so i can REFINISH the game....
I want answers and I want a cure for this. Is it the ways games are made now? Is it the developers aren't satisfied with you buying their game, playing it and moving on? Is it now about making virtual heroin and baiting the gamer to reply a game over and over and over and over?
I am in eager anticipation of playing Dark Souls; the sequel to Demons Souls and am in fear of getting sucked it. The only reason I even has succeeded my demons souls addiction NG+ is because i found a level up bug on you tube and it made replaying the game a bit easier and not as exciting.
There fore as I will eventually land a copy of Dark Souls I am wary and scared of starting the game. If you know a cure for this please help me. NG+......NG++....NG+++ dear god....

The complete Zelda II Magic: The Gathering card set | GamesRadar
Confession: Never finished a Final Fantasy...ever.
But that will absolutely change after FF 4 Advance. With the help of this great FAQ/Walk through found HERE I would say I am about 1/2 way through it and its been immersing to say the least. Great story and memorable characters each with their own quirkiness, Cid, Tellah, and the twins were a joy to meet in this game. Sadly when these games were released I think they were just really hard for me because honestly I dont see me, a 10 year old kid, playing through this with out. I would not have made it th is far without the walkthrough on GameFaqs. The graphics despite the age still surprise me, i imagine playing this when it was originally released and being blown away at the effects as seen below..
Leaving my Wii away from home and not turning on my 360 for a couple weeks and seizing the IPhone as not just a phone BUT a respectable gaming device as well! Here some games I currently love and play on my brand new shiny lovable phone (gross i know)
Little Runner rocks for so many reasons, one preferably is the music which evolves throughout the levels. Its an intresting tune, or rather mix of tunes that go well with the gameplay. the little runnner "runs" through levels that arent "level" for him to run through. Some peices are too low and some to high, its your job to "level" the playing field...jokes over...ahem! Not only that but there is fire thrown in and rolling rocks as well as stationary rocks that you must take care of so the little guys doesnt run into them. Its not necesarily getting through each level thats addicting but playing from level one and seeing how far you can make it in one go, which is how you get those crazy high scores you'll see if you take a look at the global high score ranking. I am at a mere 217 while the highest currently is 2976! I can never hope to get that high, but i am willing to try! Great game, music and replayability. Check out Red Rocket Games, Inc. or the Itunes App store for more info

Firstly i have never been a fan of tower defense games. I never really gave them a shot, but downloading this from the App store and playing it really opened my eyes to the genre. The visuals are spectacular and the sound effects are too cool as well. Game play is fun and easy to pick with the tutorial. You will be blasting away in no time and crying when the baddys reach your tower. Its actually a really awesome effect when ever your tower gets hit, it throbs almost like a heart and a voice counts down the HP left. Dont miss this game, i have not played all the levels of the lite version since i keep losing in stage 4 of the easy levels :( but once i get past it i will surely pick of the full version for the mere pennies they are asking. Check out the App store of course or Critical Thoughts Games for more deets.

Play it!

By far the priciest of all the apps i have purchased so far and i am very happy with my purchase. There are no inovations and your not going to find anything new and refreshing but thats whats actually awesome about it. There is no denying that Mario Kart is THE kart racing game, suffice it to say i am pretty sure we will never see the face of said Mario and pals on an Apple product such as the wonderous Iphone 3g S, therefore Shrek Racing is a game that very accuratly portrays Mario Kart. Its a blast to play and you get more tracks, playmodes, characters than the Crash Team Racing App that is also very popular. Its a typical kart racer with its typical fun factor of 5 stars! If your going to treat yourself to an app worth more than a 99 cents i highly suggest you invest in this one, Shrek Racing from GameLoft

4. (Will Update with 2 more games soon to finish up my list come back to check them out!)

<img $r="true" border="0" height="200" src="http://wiiwiimii.files.wordpress.com/2008/05/super-mario-galaxy.jpg" width="142" />

It alot more fun than I was willing to expect. I LOVED Mario 64 and was a little worried with the overhaul in gameplay and added Wii controls would take it to far from the recipe that made Mario 64 such a loved and praised game. It took a few stars to collect to really sell me on it and currently with 31 stars collected I have taken the bait and once agian deep into another Mario game. Its an adventure for Mario that really takes him out of this "world" and into the vast emptyness of space. Despite its "universe" tag, all things Mario we have come to know and love are all really there, even Luigi. Which took me by surprise as usually he is weirdly dismissed or not even mentioned in many of the Mario games, so when I saw him I was in doubt and thought he might be baddie dresssed up as Luigi . Regardless, the levels are a sheer joy to play through and seeing Mario fly about the galaxies just doesnt seem to get old. It reminds me alot of

But obviously there is not as much flying in Mario Galaxy as in Nights.
Mario Galaxy is alot of fun so far and the boss fights range from pretty easy to frustratingly hard, which is just how i like it personally. I like challenges but I also like progressing as well, not like Super Mario Bros 2 The Lost Levels which I just got on the virtual console and see it as an attempt from Nintendo to make the world absolutly mad with frustration!!
Get Mario Galaxy, play it, and watch Mario fly through the cosmos to rescue Princess Peach one more time, plus you want to play this dont you?

How to even begin to describe this...its a damn trip is all i can think of but a very clever and extremly well written and acted trip indeed. The sheer balls and creativity to undertake a project such as this reminds me that gaming isnt what it used to be. Fans love their games and this is just one PRIME example of just how deep that love goes. Just an FYI these episodes are not suitable for kids under 17 as it states on the website and accordingly NSFW (not suitable for work) either. Check out Episode One HERE or check out the home page HERE.....naw.. just kidding its over HERE!...aha got you again its right un..der....THERE!!

Before I even start off this post I want to state that I am not a professional collector or even a veteran collector. I have started collecting just recently and wanted to pass some tips I have picked up and found so far in my video game collecting venture.
So without further ado....

1.

Replacementdocs.com
I just found this as of today. Its a website/forum with a HUGE listing of game instruction manuals. From Atari to Gameboy Advance, DS, Xbox etc. Some are in black and white while others are in vibrant full color. This website is a great resource for any game collector or if you just have a game you wish you had the manual to check out. Price: FREE (but you should donate!)

2.

GameBooklets.com
Choose your game then choose manual, case, cover art or all three. Price: range from 1.49 for blank cases to three bucks for manuals. Free shipping as stated on the FAQ page "To qualify for free shipping, you must purchase $10 or more and use coupon code "freeship".

3.Ebay
Ebay in my opinion either you love or hate but if you really want the hard to find, rare, limited edition doodaa then unfortunatly your going to have to suck it up and give in. I am not the biggest fan of Ebay personally. The last time I used it was for a mint copy of Zelda Majoras Mask and I got lucky with the bidding.

Personally I much prefer...

4. Amazon
Amazon has become my tresure chest of deals and hard to find titles. To just name a few great deals recently purchased off amazon are: Mario Kart Super Circuit for GBA 2.99, Super Monkey Ball 2 1.99, Zelda A Link to the Past +4 Swords for 8.99, Lost Planet 7.89 and alot more. I cannot speak any more highly of amazon used game sales. The only drawback is the shipping which some vendors try to trick you with by pricing items exrtemely low then charging you almost triple the normal amount. As always when purchasing stuff online READ EVERYTHING

5. Craiglist
Until recently Craigs list did not have a direct query for Video Games, you had to look under toys and games or electronics. One day out of the blue it just popped up to my pleasant surprise. Definatly check it out!

I know there are alot of sites out there dedicated to game collectors and apprasial of the rarest and most valuable games but take my word for it you will NOT find deals there at all. Those guys know the value each mint game and arent afraid to price accordingly. It just depends on how bad you want an original sealed copy of Super Mario Bros 3....

Wii Rejoice! I don't think I mentioned it here but my recently purchased (used) Wii was sick. Luckily the warranty was still good for it and I shipped it off. Imagine, my Wii cold and alone far away from home..in the cold cold world out there...(T_T)...
Anyways, its back! With a renewed warranty good for another year from the date of shipping which was September 14! Although they could not retrieve my downloads and game saves, I can re-download my purchased games on Wii shop at no additional charge but sadly my Zelda Link to the Past will have to be restarted..meh i bought it for GBA anyways and almost done with it ^_^
cant wait to Brawl and Kart once again!!
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 280px; height: 280px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_u7aS_F2QhM8/Sp-rTPOuVxI/AAAAAAAAAPA/C1EERmR-2S8/s400/Metroid+M+cover.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5377204827097814802" />
Screens:
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 227px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_u7aS_F2QhM8/Sp-rdKf6XGI/AAAAAAAAAPI/1zjA1YMu0mA/s400/Metroid+M+22.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5377204997626420322" />
Why?
The only reason needed is this:

BUT, of course the graphics, storyline and hotty Zero Suit Samus :D
This game is dying to be concurred!
By the way I'm ordering this with my next paycheck:
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 262px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_u7aS_F2QhM8/Sp-uMLDvtTI/AAAAAAAAAPY/0awIxTGmDOg/s400/Smaller+trilogy+front.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5377208004253824306" />
2. New Super Mario Brothers

Screens:
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 226px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_u7aS_F2QhM8/Sp-tVLvJbyI/AAAAAAAAAPQ/Vfx9xb91FgU/s400/Mario+Multi+Screens.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5377207059543060258" />
Why?
Its a 2D Mario game...duh!

3.Mario Galaxy

Screens:
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 220px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_u7aS_F2QhM8/Sp_Aa7DSMQI/AAAAAAAAAPo/v1G9yiOKU_Y/s400/Mario+Multi+Screen.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5377228048864260354" />
Why?
Because I haven't played the first one and I just got a Wii and i will be playing Mario Galaxy 1 ASAP

4.Zelda Spirit Tracks

Why?
Besides my Zelda fanboy'ism, i really liked The Phantom Hourglass. The control was unique and refreshing. Yes it seems a bit gimmicky but alas Zelda titles have yet to disappoint me (never played Zelda II but i hear its a sham hehe)

and some others:

5. Golden Sun DS

Screens:
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 113px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_u7aS_F2QhM8/Sp7PIOyVyAI/AAAAAAAAAOo/AiOD-mMsOmc/s400/Golden+Sun+Screens+for+blogger.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5376962745442093058" />
Played the original on GBA and loved it. Graphics were stunning considering the platform it was on. I need to revisit it and play the second one as well. The screens from this forth coming title say alot. Cant wait to summon once again.

8.Scribblenauts

Innovative and creative and super hyped after E3 this year, Scribblenauts looks like alot of fun. The sheer possibilities of what you can do are enough and the art style is compelling (will post a link to the artist page for Scribblenauts later)-and HERE it is

7. Mario & Luigi Bowser's Inside Story

Screens:
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 333px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_u7aS_F2QhM8/Sp--QSuRCdI/AAAAAAAAAPg/IIHvQ7cvuNQ/s400/MultiScreen.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5377225667216738770" />
If you haven't played any of the Mario&Luigi games you are really missing out. The RPG elements are there, the Nintendo humor, the art style all make for a complete and satisfying series. The rumour mills says this one takes place inside Bowser (which from this box art seems to be true as the little shadows are being eaten by Bowser)

Great titles coming up or what? Its gonna be a great fall/winter season to be a gamer. Don't shed tears over summers passing, fear not for you will have much to joystick at in the harsh winter nights!
Xbox 360 and PS3/PSP upcoming games will be coming soon as well so check back often.
(This post took me two days to put together...whew* )

Until next time, RougeCell out!

One of the biggest reasons i wanted a Wii besides Zelda and Super Smash Bros was of course the virtual console. Yes, I have the roms, yes i might even have the original titles in their "cartridge" form, BUT the original NES is very unreliable and doesnt save, I do not have a Super Nintendo and The N64 looks horrible on an LCD HD screen. So with all that considered, I was super excited to hear of titles such as Zelda Oot, Majora's Mask, Super Metroid, A Link to the Past and Punch Out etc appearing on the Virtual Console. Also the Wii-ware titles i had drooled over from the guys at Co-Op with their review of Bit-Trip. I jumped on the Wii shop channel ASAP and explored away. This is what i have found so far.

Good: The triple A titles of old Mario, Zelda, Mega Man and Metroid are all there. The N64 titles could only look as good on an emulator and im glad the Wii supports the multi-controller aspect in case you dont yet have a classic controller such as I. When you hit the home button on a Wii remote if your playing a NES title and return later to play it, it does a screen save and you start off right where you stopped playing; LOVE this. Save files are all in the Wii's internal mem which is stellar! Also another great aspect is that you can go from NES, to Super NES, to N64,Game-Cube, and Wii all without a single cable switch. Its like having 5 systems in one. If its one thing i have enough of its cables and i HATE switching cables to play on different systems :)

Bad: The navigation of the Wii store leaves a lot to be desired. Its very basic, very un-inspiring. There are no videos, you get one image, no trial/demo version, no reviews or ranking system, pretty much nothing to give you details on games you may not recognize. Its as if nintendo only wants gamers that have played the titles before to buy them. Seriously would i even consider buying a game i know nothing about. Which in all respects isnt too hard to do a quick google search and have your answer but its Nintendo's job to sell me not the googles.com! For example, never would I have tried out Bit-trip if it hadnt been for Area 5 and CO-OP:

as there were no essential screenshots or trial versions. Speaking of trial version....Nintendo if you want to survive Xbox Live YOU NEED TO GET TRIAL VERSIONS, preferably of EVERYTHING. This is key. There are just too many games out there to take my time and money and if i havent tried it im not buying it unless its Zelda of course (curse you Spirit Tracks!!)

So all in all there is room for improvement. I dont know what the deal is with Nintendo really, they came out with all this innovation and leaps forth with new ways of gaming but have seriously fallen behind. The community aspect is non-existent in Nintendo, friends codes? seriously? the Lag? come on Nintendo, get with it! Love you guys! :) Zelda 2 for Wii please? hehe

Titles on the Virtual Console:

1. Punch-Out

I give this title 5 out 5 retro-bits because its beyond awesome, i could never get past King Hippo as a kid and lil'Mac is a monster!

2. Legend of Zelda a Link to the Past

Before i bought this i was in the middle of Metal Gear 3 and sadly i had to put down my DualShock controller because Zelda is a game i have been wanting to beat since i was 13. This game is not very straightforward and i needed a bit more direction. Granted im using a youtube walkthrough which i will post the link here for later-and here it is Its got me and im very immersed in this game currently. 5/5 tri-force pieces!

3. Bit-Trip

This pic doesnt explain anything at all does it? A very simple to control game with mind-exploding difficulty. This game is HARD. But so much fun to get seizures from. Not only is it fun but its also cheap 600 Wii points or 6 bucks of your hard earned cash! 5/5 bit peices. Hand it over to a friend and watch them fail miserably, or even the non-gamer-girl-friend hehe.

4. Mario Kart 64

No need to say anything about this, right? 5/5 red-shells for this title. Wario Stadium and Coco Mountain, nuff said.

Smash Bros Collection Complete

It had completely different physics, the characters felt more grounded and felt as if they had an airy weight to them. IDK about Melee and Brawl but to me the physics in the newer titles feel very...unreal..lol it doesn't ruin the games as i do enjoy playing them both but i do recall the first time playing Melee after playing the N64 Smash Bros and hating it, i was caught off-guard. Something about Gamecube physics really turned me off to games i loved. Mario Kart DoubleDash also disappointed me. Its hard to put a finger on it but go dig out that N64 collecting dust in your closet and play Mario Kart 64 and Smash Bros for a couple weeks or days then make the jump to Mario Kart Wii and Smash Bros Brawl and you will know what I'm talking about. Very different feelings to both, as if the ground is covered in oil and the characters are made of marshmallows. Don't get me wrong i love all these games and i knew i was going to have to suck it up and just face facts. Regardless there are improvements in all ranges when it comes to a new console but i think i speak for every gamer out there that when one of your favorite games makes the jump to a new console there are somethings that just feels a little off and your not quite sure what it is but you know its there from the very first level to the end-EXCEPT, for Zelda, but that's for another post hehe

Rougecell out
[+=oo]

Only One Level

It's used but here is how it breaks down. 165.99 for? Why a Wii system, 2 remote controllers, one nun-chuck, a GameCube Black controller, Super Mario Bros. 3 for the virtual console and...and.................
this thing:

A gamestop value of 44.99 (^_^). I saw this on Amazon for the awesome steal of 165 and quickly placed it on my Capitol One Credit Card! Anyways I am a huge Smash Brothers fan, since the original for the N64:

My friends and I would spend hours playing the original having a blast smashing each other away. Good times:)
I now have all three smash bros which is beyond cool no matter what you think :P
speaking of Smash Bros here is a cool cross-stich i came across Smash Bros (NES version) Cross Stitch Pattern

credit:SpriteStitch

It scares me how many game systems i currently own, but i have been a budget gamer and careful of my purchases, PS3 slim here i come :) Speaking of budget gaming, i highly recomend Amazon for all your gaming purchases. I have not payed full price for any of my game purchases. The prices just cant be beat and of course the selection is stellar. Not only that but you have a money back gurantee from Amazon which is even more of a deal sealer.
Back to the Wii, the online play so far is nothing compared to Xbox Live. I played some online Smash Bros matches and the lag is incredible. Also you can only play 2min matches. Cant complain though, it is free so its better than nothing. Cant wait to see what Mario Kart is like to play online. I have been playing Mario Kart DS and its alot of fun. Speaking of the DS i will be doing a "Best DS online Gaming" list coming soon.
As far as the Wii goes its great, have some gripes such as its non-HD and bland Mii maker, but i love Nintendo, always have and i just cant get sick of Mario and crew in there many apperences. Also there are alot of titles coming out soon such as Metroid Other M and New Super Mario Bros heck maybe even a new Zelda, only time will tell.

Until Next time Happy Gaming

-RougeCell, Out!

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty

Released in November 13, 2001 the highly anticipated sequel to the PSX's Metal Gear Solid; MGS2 blew the tanker and the Kasatkas (hehe) out of the air and oceans. For some reason when this game was originally released i was horrible at action games and for that matter FPSs. I tried, oh how i tried and cried to excel but alas my attempts were in vain. To be quite honest i also never finished MG Solid 1. Dont get me wrong, i remember the demo being released and playing it over and over and over but never playing the full game to the end. It wasnt until Metal Gear 4 was released and a friend of mine was going out of town and let me borrow his PS3. Seizing the opportunity i locked my self away with a blockbuster rental for 5 days and never saw the light of day, i, shall we say, was enlightened. MGS2 is an excellent game that is aging quite well. Lots of story to digest, lots of twists and lots of conspiraicies which pretty much sums up to a regular Metal Gear expirience. Memorable villains, and supporting characters that usually end up dying unfortunalty(or maybe not...)

Like:
Well i like everything about the game really, it's action, it's suspense and it's drama. Sneaking around never gets old and getting caught scares the living daylights outta me everytime. Boss fights are intresting and not overtly difficult (believe me if i can do it without much walkthrough help ..)
Music is spot on fitting the theme and ambience of the tension filled sequences and dramatic strings to add to the sorrow of the characters losses. Its hard not to give away spoilers but this isnt exactly a new release; suffice it to say its great fighting along side a legend if not a breeze when he has your back.

Dont Like:
Some times i just didnt know what to do and that could be the games fault or my fault. I had to resort to a youtube Walkthrough which ill post the link for soon. The guide was extremely helpful in my moments of loss and difficulty.
The end comes and you dont really realize it, at lease i didnt. It was like ok it getting intense now and all of a sudden your at the end and its somewhat unexpected.
Lastly since this is a Metal Gear game its to be expected but some of the sequences which explain whats going can drag on and on. Its not a bad thing really considering that it is what makes "Metal Gear" well..METAL GEAR :)

Conclusion:
Play this game.
play all the Metal Gears if you are able. I purchased Metal Gear the Essential Collection

I started with Metal Gear 2 and have gone on to Metal Gear 3. Stellar game, graphics, music and you have Metal Gear 4 to look forward to which i highly suggest playing last. Alot of the appeal of Metal Gear 4 is back references to the previous Metal Gears.
Buy it, play it and learn a few lessons of morality from a sneaky old snake ;)

Rougecell-out
