Since 2005, the Calgary Stampede has been presenting Western Legacy Awards annually to honour individuals and organizations for their exceptional contributions in preserving western heritage and values in our community.

This year, in celebration of the Stampede Centennial, the 2012 Western Legacy Awards recognized 100 Outstanding Albertans who have made an impact in our province by promoting the values of western hospitality, commitment to community, pride of place and integrity.

The Western Legacy Awards committee selected Roland Gissing as one of these 100 outstanding Albertans.

Artist Agnes Perrenoud Hutchinson studied under renowned Alberta painter Roland Gissing when she was 16 and was a founding member of the Cochrane Art Club.

In honor of Agnes and the Perrenoud Family an exhibit of original artworks from the Estate of Roland Gissing will be displayed for sale during this two day event.

Humbleton Gallery in Kelowna will be hosting a show and sale of historic artists from September 10th - 24th, 2011. The Collection will be present with a number of original artworks for sale. If you are visiting the area please come and see us.

Roland Gissing has come home to Cochrane. The location that inspired an artistic career spanning 50 years. The Gissing Collection is now located in Rustica Fine Art Gallery in Cochrane, Alberta. In addition to the original artworks of Roland Gissing available for purchase the Gallery represents the Western Lights Artists Group, Rick Berg, Elaine Tweedy, Edward Michell and others. Spruce Meadows is located in the foothills of the majestic Canadian Rockies, within the city of Calgary, Alberta. Spruce Meadows' tournaments have attracted virtually every Olympic, World, European, and National Show Jumping Champion.

Sponsored by the CIBC for a series on the History and Development of the Oil & Gas Industry in Alberta. Shown firstly in Calgary at the Bank’s main branch in 1951, the exhibition traveled from San Francisco to New York.

Critically acclaimed one man shows at the Calgary Exhibition & Stampede 1934, 1947 & 1960.

Decorated the walls of the Club Café in the new Hudson Bay store in downtown Calgary.

The Glenbow holds a sizeable collection of Gissings, many donated by Gissing’s great admirer and benefactor of the Museum Mr. Eric Harvie.

Chosen works from the Gissing Estate included in the 75th Anniversary of the Alberta Society of Artists exhibition opening June 16th, 2006 at the Nickle Arts Museum, University of Calgary. The Gissing Collection available in the Museum Gift Shop.
