Right From the Start: Becoming Your Young Child’s First and Most Important Sexuality Educator (elementary)

Young children are alive with curiosity about the world around them, including the topics of sex, gender, and reproduction. Parents who are secure in their knowledge of what is truly age appropriate at this age embrace their children’s questions with delight, confidence and openness, and, most importantly, continue to be their children’s “go to” resource about sexuality throughout the childhood years and well into adolescence.

Tuesday, March 9th, from 6 until 8 p.m., in the Multi-Purpose Room, MIDDLE SCHOOL PARENTS are invited to join the author of “Sex and Sensibility,” Deborah Roffman to discuss the following topics.

Yes You Can! Raise a Sexually Healthy Child in a Sexually Unhealthy World (middle school)

Early and middle adolescents want increasing independence, but don’t want or need autonomy. They still look to the immediate adults in their lives adults for values, limits, and guidance, even in the face of a powerful media and peer culture, and especially about issues regarding sexuality and relationships. If we understand their changing developmental needs, and shift our roles accordingly, we can remain powerfully influential in their lives and decisions.

·          Each teacher completes a “Teacher Wish List” [...]]]> Roland Park E/M School PTA has created a “Teacher Wish List” program to fund specific teacher projects and needs – beyond just markers and paper towels.  The program was designed  work similar to the broader “Donors Choose” program that is still on-going.  Here is how our new program works….

·          Each teacher completes a “Teacher Wish List” form with a request that ranges in cost from $20 to $200 and are classroom specific.

·          The “Wishes” are displayed on the new PTA Bulletin Board just inside the doorway of the main entrance of the school.

·          Friends of our school can select a wish and write a check for that amount.  Make the check payable to: RPEMS PTA.

·          The form and the check go in envelopes provided below the bulletin board.  Then, envelopes should be placed in the PTA mailbox in the main office.

·          Once the request has been processed, the form will be returned to the board and the donor’s name will be written on it to show that they have funded that request.

For example:  “Rampage printing for January and February funded by the Smith family.”

There are already 3 teacher wishes currently on the board.  Please stop by to see the ways you can help our teachers do great things for our kids!
