Harry Potter: More Than A Decade Late

About ten years ago I began reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. I never got past chapter ten. A month ago after I finished reading Catching Fire I decided to give Harry Potter another shot instead of jumping straight to Mockingjay. The first to books in the Hunger Games trilogy fueled a desire to read. The first one hundred pages or so of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone were hard for me to get though, but once I got to Hogwarts that all changed. I couldn't put the book down. Now I'm extremely excited to finish the series. Since I've seen the first three Harry Potter films before, I'm even more excited for books four, five, six, and seven. I'm beginning Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets this week. I may be more than a decade late to this phenomenon, but I'm enjoying it ever so much.

Kill Ellis

Today I read an upsetting interview with the actor that plays Ellis on Smash. In the interview the actor that plays Ellis stated that he will indeed be back for season two and that he will be even more slimy. I guess hoping he would get hit by a city bus isn't going to happen anytime soon.

I've never hated a television character more than Ellis. That is saying something. Most villains have depth. They're complex. Ellis is just a one dimensional villain that is hard to watch. Don’t the producers of the show understand Ellis is not a character the viewers love to hate? I have no problem with a villain that the audience loves to hate, but Ellis is someone I loathe to hate. So much in fact I believe I would avoid any future film or television that has this actor attached to it. Smash has gotten bloody awful as of lately, but I decided to stick with it to see if they can find their voice. By keeping Ellis it makes me want to cut Smash’s vocal cords.

Cover of the Week: Kelly Clarkson Til The World Ends

This is by far the best thing the internet has to offer this week. Kelly Clarkson is known for covering songs on her Stronger Tour. This week at her L.A. show Kelly covered Til The World Ends by the one and only Britney Spears. I can't get enough of this. Kelly's vocals are once again flawless. I never thought someone could give this electropop song so much soul, but Kelly delivers with intensity. Amazing!

Three Thoughts About Survivor One World: Bum-Puzzled

This season of Survivor just keeps getting better. This is one of the best casts in years. What a shitshow! I'm so glad Redemption Island is gone, and we have all fresh faces. I can't wait to see how the rest of the season unfolds. Here are three things that popped out to me.

Colton: What a bitch! I'm actually becoming a fan of this racist pampered Alabama gay. That being said, I don't condone his behavior or the sentences that come out of his mouth. Colton is good television. He's a horrible person. I understand that, but he is making this season. I don't really understand why Colton does not like Bill. Bill seems like a chill guy. I would have wanted Bill around instead of some of the other wackos on that tribe. I wonder how much longer Colton Cumbie and his offensive rants will last. I would have voted his ass out!

Tribal Immunity: I'm sure producers of a show that is in its 24th season live for moments like this. Survivor history was made tonight. That's for sure. Is it the dumbest move in Survivor history? I think so. This was not just one person giving up immunity. This was eight people. Eight people got together and thought it would be a good idea to give immunity to the girls. They have no idea how much longer they have until the merge. What if they lose the rest of the immunity challenges? Shouldn't they have just waited to vote of Bill the next time they lose immunity.

Cheaters: Why are the producers letting the women cheat? This is the second time this season. It is upsetting to watch. At least the men still won. This has got to stop.

Three Thoughts About American Idol: Top 13 Week

Here are my weekly three thoughts about this week's performance episode of American Idol. Overall I thought it was a boring episode. Too many ballads! I needed something uptempo!

Jessica Sanchez: I love this girl. She has everything needed in order to be a pop star. When I found out she was singing "I Will Always Love You," I was a bit scared for her. This is the biggest ballad of all time, but Jessica pulled it off! She will make it to the finals. I also predict Jessica could become one of the most successful American Idol contestants of all time. I may be saying that too soon, but I have a feeling about this girl.

Whitney Houston: I understand that American Idol wants to pay tribute to Whitney Houston, but this was not the way to do it. For ten seasons now the judges have told the girls to never sing Whitney. Now they forced six girls to sing Whitney. It takes a special voice to tackle a Whitney Houston song. Only one girl had the chops to pull it off.

Shannon: I don't even remember her last name. I don't think I need to even learn it. Lucky for her she is pretty and already has a rich dad. The song she choose was simply too big. I wouldn't mind seeing her on America's Next Top Model in a few years.

Dear Whitney, Dear Amy, Dear Michael

Is it possible that we kill our icons? Have you ever thought that our media consumption is toxic to our legends? We wanted to see the video of Amy Winehouse smoking crack. We clicked on the links. We read the "news" articles. We bought the magazines that featured Whitney Houston's struggles. We watched the documentaries about Michael Jackson. Our culture is killing our legends. We don't need to know ever single detail of Whitney's death. We don't need to know Bobbi Kristina is in the hospital. We don't need to know that she got in a verbal altercation with the police last night. Let Whitney rest in peace. Let's remember her voice. Let's remember that she was a superstar.

Exit for Exes

MTV has done pissed me off! I stopped watching RW/RR Challenge years ago, but I decided I'd give it another try this season. (I know it is called The Challenge now, but I refuse to call it that.) I enjoyed the first episode The Battle of the Exes, but I'm afraid I can not put up with this poorly produced show any longer. Tonight Vinny was kick off after sexually harassing Mandi. I immediately assumed his partner Sarah would just receive a new partner so she could continue in the game.

I quickly thought of two possible scenarios that production could use. Production could have brought back Nate to be Sarah's partner. Nate was eliminated in the first episode. The second thing production could have done was tell Sarah that her new partner would be the next guy who got sent home. That person would have been Wes. We all know production wants Wes there for drama. It would have also been fair to Sarah if she was given an option to stay in the game. It would even have been an interesting twist to the show that the viewers would have loved.

This is not the first time an occurrence like this has happened on reality television. During season nine of Big Brother the house guests we paired up. Neil and Josh were paired up from day one, and Neil had to leave the game after a week. Production quickly gave Josh the option of picking a new partner out of the previous pair that had been eliminated. The producers of The Battle of the Sexes should have done something similar. Sarah got sent home for no reason. I'm done with this show and its horrible production.

Glee Sucks

I have a problem with Glee. Nearly three year ago I feel in love with this show. I have a relationship with it. Yes, I have a relationship with a television series. Now I'm hoping to escape before the domestic violence starts. Glee has quickly become one of the most uneven show on television. The quality is just sub-par. The only reason I continue to watch is for the musical numbers. I have not one interest in the plot. Well I do like Santana, but that is it. In this blog I'm going to discuss three things that happened in the latest episode: Will picking Finn as his best man, Finn proposing to Rachel, and Sam and Mercedes. I will never stop watching Glee because I have a thing for toxic relationships, but I really should kick it to the curb. I have had enough of Ryan Murphy. He is an esteemed television writer with a bunch of shows under his belt. I'm a huge fan of Popular, Nip/Tuck, and American Horror Story, and I know his aesthetic of shocking the audience just for the hell of it. Honestly, what did he not do on Nip/Tuck. I quit that show. His shows are pure spectacle. I'm damn tired of it!

First off, let's discuss Will Schuester. Is he even a man? I mean really? The writers of Glee have just stopped developing his character. I loved Will in season one, but since then he has been worthless. My biggest issue is he has no adult friends! Are we really suppose to expect the fact that a high school senior is his best friend? This is creepy, and I'm surprised he has not been accused of pedophilia! Then Will continues this stupidity by asking Finn to plan his bachelor party! Finn is not even old enough to legally consume alcohol. How does this make any sense? I blame the writers for not developing Will's character at all. Why couldn't he have a brother? A friend from college? Someone who is not studying for their SATs? I can't even continue discussing Will at this point. It pisses me off to no end. The writers are sloppy.

Now we can move on to Rachel and Finn. Has Finn done gone and bumped his head. There is no reason to propose to your girlfriend in high school unless you can't talk her into getting an abortion. Then you should really just leave the bitch.* I sure as hell hope Rachel rejects his proposal and dumps his ass for being a fool! Rachel Berry is going to be a star. She can't let getting married at eighteen get in her way. Rachel should move to New York. Rachel and Finn are a cute high school couple, but that is it. They are not meant for one another long term. Rachel needs to marry her craft before she finds a husband.

Sam and Mercedes. I can't even touch this. They should just stop. She is too good for him. It is sad that the writers can not find her a better story line.

This show just sucks right now. I'm hoping the show can rebound from a rough season. I love this show. I hate to see it suffer. I'm proud of what the first two seasons did to the landscape of television. I want that Glee back. I will continue to watch, but I'm over the show being uneven. They need to fix it.

New Year's Resolution

It's January 1st... That time of the year when everyone promises themselves to exercise more and eat healthier. By February everyone will be making trips to McDonald's and skipping the gym. Although I am planning on eating better and exercising more, I've decided to not make that my resolution. I need to do that no matter what time of the year it is. I don't exactly have one New Year's resolution. I just have a lot of goals set in mind...

Build a website - I'm working on a professional site that will focus on my career as a journalist. I hope to have it launched sometime after I find my first reporting job. I need to find a job. (That would be a great New Year's Resolution.)
Read more - My goal is to read one nonfiction book a month. Right now I'm really into President biographies.
Clean up Twitter - I need to look professional, that means no more drunk tweets! I also plan tweeting more about newsy issues instead of JUST Britney Spears. Although I will still tweet about my girl!
Use Google+ - I really just want to improve my presence on social media. It's time I utilize G+!

Music Suggestion: Alice Smith

I love when I discover a new artist. (Well, at least new for me.) Last night around three in the morning Pandora introduced me to Alice Smith. Since then her song "Woodstock" has been on heavy rotation. To me Alice Smith is a mix of Amy Winehouse and a more soulful version of Alicia Keys. I've since listened to her entire album For Lovers, Dreamers, & Me. It's incredible. I can't believe it has been released for more than five years, and I've never heard of her! So damn good.

In my book: Kelly Rowland is the new Beyonce! Her latest album Here I Am has been on repeat all semester long. This is the best pregame album of the year. Well second to Britney's Femme Fatale. I just wish Kelly would get more radio play in the US. This album is full of undeniable jams that are destine to get you on the dance floor. Kelly Rowland found her sound, and it is amazing. Her first two solo albums don't even compare.

Wallet

I never lose anything. Like ever. So when I do misplace something, I automatically assume it has been stolen. This morning I lost my wallet, and it stressed me the fuck out. Instead of simply believing I misplaced it, I started running crazy scenarios through my head. My first thought was that someone broke into my apartment while I was sleeping, located my wallet, and then took it. I just knew that had happened. Knew it! I have no idea how that is rational, but I made myself believe it. I then made myself believe that I dropped my wallet out of my window while paying at McDonald's last night. Of course I would have noticed if I dropped it out the window, but I quickly convinced myself that this was a possibility. Lastly I convinced myself that when unlocking my door last night, I left my wallet on my welcome mat. I was then convinced one of my neighbors stole it. I was even about to call my apartment complex to ask if any had turned it in. This is when I found my wallet in the pocket of my shorts. Doesn't that seem like the first scenario I would have made up? Instead I convince myself that my wallet was stolen. I'm just happy I found it.

Evolving...

When I first started this blog, my intention was to post a few times a month about anything in the world of pop culture that was on my mind. After a few months this blog quickly evolved into something else. For a while I made sure that I updated at least once a day. Now a barely update once a week. I've been thinking about deleting my blog all together, but I just can't do it. Instead I'm letting it evolve. I'm not really sure what direction I want to go with this blog, but I'm excited to see where it goes.

I'm thinking I want to use this blog to write about whatever I'm loving at the moment. I've recently posted about my love for The CW's Ringer. I actually enjoy writing those kind of posts. I'm so over writing about Glee and The Real Housewives... The main reason I kept writing about them is because I got a lot of page views. I could care less about how many hits I get at this point. I used to find myself blogging about stuff I didn't really care about, just because I knew it would get hundreds to thousands of hits. I'm over that. This blog will never be mainstream, and I don't know why I was catering to page hits instead of quality.

Now I'm going to blog when I want to. It may be a few times a week, or it may be a few times a month. I'm not sure. I'll post when I feel compelled to. I'll post about stuff I care about. I love music suggestions. That's an element of my blog I've always cared about. I also want to focus on more in-depth post. I want to actually care about what I'm writing about again. I'm excited.

Sam Back on Glee

Well this was a bit of a shock. Chord Overstreet is returning to Glee! Earlier this summer it was announced that he walked away from an offer to remain as a recurring character. I guess he changed his mind. Sam is expected to be back on the show my this season's eighth episode. I honestly could care less if he returns to the show. I was excited about his character when he first appeared, but he quickly became boring. Hopefully they will find a good story arch for him. If not, I hope they just use him as a background singer.

Music Suggestion: Cher Lloyd

I can't get enough of Cher Lloyd. Cher rose to fame last season on the UK's version of The X Factor. Homegirl has got some swagger, and she sings/raps about it a lot. I first noticed her through a YouTube video of her audition last year, but I quickly forgot about her. Today I came across her new single "With Ur Love" featuring Mike Posner. It's some catchy pop music. I like her first single "Swagger Hagger" even more. I just hope someone from the US version of The X Factor brings this kind of swag. So hot!

I'm officially addicted to The X Factor. This show is so much better than the latest season of American Idol. It's great to see Simon and Paula together again, and L.A. Reid is amazing! He is everything Randy Jackson is not. For The X Factor to gain legitimacy they need to find their Kelly Clarkson. Drew Ryniewicz is that girl. At only fourteen, she can capture true emotion as she sings of heartbreak. That is not an easy thing for a fourteen year old to do. Drew peeked my interest with her debut performance of Justin Bieber's "Baby." Last night Drew proved herself as a true contender. I've never seen this much vocal talent from a fourteen year old. I can't wait to see what else she has to offer. I have a feeling she could be around for years to come.

Full Season for Ringer

It's been a big day for The CW. Today the network announced the full season pickups for Ringer, Hart of Dixie, and Secret Circle. I could not be more thrilled. Ringer is my favorite new show, and I can't wait to watch the season unfold. Last night's episode was the best yet! I was so glad to see that Gemma was murdered! Now we have a nice murder mystery to sink our teeth into. This show delivers every single week. You should be watching. It is getting bloody fantastic. Literally.

Real Housewives Radio

Well this seems entirely too much. Sirius XM is launching a radio station dedicated to all of The Real Housewives. Real Housewives Radio is launching October 8th at midnight and will run for two days. I guess this is just a limited trial to see how many people will actually tune in. Over Real Housewives Radio's 48 hour run, the station will air audio version of episodes from the franchise. Who just wants to listen to these crazy bitches? Half of the fun is seeing their crazy outfits. The only good I see about this radio channel, is that Caroline Manzo from The Real Housewives of New Jersey will be hosting a two hour show. I'd love to see Caroline get a daily radio show, but Real Housewives Radio just seems unnecessary.

New Britney Songs Leak

New Britney Spears songs are leaking, and I'm loving it! I'm not sure where these songs came from, or what project they were meant for, but I can't get enough! These song are just pure fun. "Dangerous" is a song that would have been perfect on Circus. I'm loving the vocals on "Rock Star." I love when Britney utilizes her lower register. "Rock Star" sounds a bit like her "Mona Lisa" and "Do Somethin'" days. "Abroad" is another track that would have found a cozy home on Circus. In a way, "Abroad" could be a loosely based prequel to "Criminal." Lastly, A mediocre ballad was also leaked. It is great to her Britney's voice on a ballad again, but "Everyday" is no "Everytime."

This is about as fierce as one can get. Sophia Grace Brownlee is a star! I've never seen a cuter cover of a Nicki Minaj song. Sophia Grace slays the rap, but the true talent comes out when she belts out the chorus. So bloody fantastic! I also lover her backup dancer! I can;t wait until I have a daughter! I'll be teaching her Britney songs as soon as she can talk. These girls have a HUGE future ahead of them! I can't to see them on Britain's Got Talent!

What I'm Watching: Ringer

If you are not watching The CW's Ringer starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, then you are missing out. And if you only tuned into the pilot and didn't give it a second chance, then you need to check it out again. The shows builds in quality with every episode. Not to mention; Sarah Michelle Geller is stellar. I've never seen someone play dual roles with such distinction. She has been missing from television for far too long. The entire cast is amazing. This is some high end television for The CW.

If you need to know what the show is about, check the shows Wikipedia page. This so is incredible. It reminds me of a mix between Prison Break, Gossip Girl, and Kate's flashbacks from Lost. It's also really fast paced. My worse fear for this show was that it would drag on like a daytime soap opera, but there has already been some pretty BIG moments. Something was really BIG happened in episode that I expected to be drug out until the mid season finale. I can't wait until next week's juicy episode, in the meantime, you should watch full episode at CWTV.com!

Back in the ATL

They're back! Bravo announce today that the fourth season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta will be premiering on November, 6th. I'm ready for my ATL gals! It has been far too long. I can't say the promo for the new season looked that juicy though. I'm in need of a Kim and NeNe throw down, but I'm unsure if that will happen this season. I've heard they don't film together much. Well anyway, it looks like NeNe will once again be causing too much drama. Last season she compeltely loss me as a fan. I'm hoping she can class it up a bit this season, but who am I kidding?

Well it looks like these rumors are finally resulting into something. I hear Bravo is working on a spin-off for Kim Zolciak from The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Now this is something I would watch! Over and over again! Kim's new show will be a lot like Bethenny's from The Real Housewives of New York City. I'm unsure what this will be for her future on The Real Housewives of Atlanta. I hope she will at least be on some of the next season! I need a Kim vs. NeNe fight! I bet NeNe Leakes is so jealous! No word on when the show will premiere.

I became a Lily Allen fan a few years ago. It wasn't until this weekend that I discovered her song "Who'd Have Known." This song is so simple and soft. I can't stop listening to it. It has been on constant replay for the last two days. The first line of the song instantly drew me in, and it was love at first listen. This is by far my favorite song by Lily. Hope you enjoy.
