Two days ago Rovio Asia, the makers of Angry Birds, launched a version of this game for Facebook. At the moment Angry Birds is one of the most popular video games in the world, played mainly by mobile device users.

The game, in which players use a slingshot to launch birds at structures containing pigs, has been praised for being simple, addictive, and for having a comical style.

Facebook Is Keeping Photos Deleted by Users

Once users delete their photos on Facebook, even though they cannot be viewed anymore in those users’ albums, they still can be accessed by browsing to their URL. This was detected by journalists of the site Ars Technica three years ago, and it's still happening today.

According Ars Technica's article on CNN, Facebook admitted on Friday that until now its system "did not always delete images from content delivery networks in a reasonable period of time even though they were immediately removed from the site," but also added that the company is finishing up a newer system that will make the process quicker.

Ars Technica discovered in 2009 that photos "deleted" from Facebook never go away if you have a direct link to the .jpg file in question. When they asked Facebook about this at that time, the answer was that the company was "working with our content delivery network partner to significantly reduce the amount of time that backup copies persist." A year later Ars Technica tried again, and the deleted photos were still there. Two days ago they tried again, and the photos were still there.

Something really interesting is that after publishing the 2010 followup, Facebook deleted the photos used as a proof by the journalist that was was tracking this issue. However, according to the journalist, "my photos were the only ones that were deleted at that time. Other "deleted" photos that I had saved links to -- ones that weren't from my account and were deleted even earlier than mine—remained online."

Although, as said before, Facebook stated that it will solve this issue, for the moment we have a good reason to think it twice when deciding what photos we upload to Facebook.

Want to explore your timeline on Facebook? This guide will show you how to do it.

To go to your timeline, once you have logged in to Facebook, on the top right hand corner of the page, click on your name or small profile picture.

This will lead you to your timeline. Once you are there, you have three ways of moving through it:

by scrolling up and down the timeline’s web page in your browser.
by using the menu of dates that is on the right hand side of your screen in order to jump from month to month or year to year.
by selecting a month or a year to jump to in the strip menu that appears at the top of your screen when you scroll down your timeline past your cover photo.

This way you will see the content of your timeline.

Artist Becomes Millionaire Thanks to Facebook

David Choe, an American muralist of Korean descent, painted in 2005 some art works to decorate Facebook offices and took his earnings in shares of the company instead of money. Now he owns a fortune.

In 2005, Sean Parker, Napster's founder and Facebook's founding president, asked David Choe to paint murals in the interior of Facebook's first Silicon Valley office. At that time, Facebook was far from being such a popular social network as it is today.

Instead of getting paid in money, David decided to take an equal value of shares of Facebook's stock.

According to The New York Times, the shares owned by the artist are expected to be worth more than $200 million when Facebook stock trades publicly later this year.

Facebook Will Start Selling Stock to the Public

Facebook filed today for an initial public offering that is expected to be one of the largest U.S. stock-market debuts in history and the largest coming from Silicon Valley.

Although it will take months for the final price to be established, many journalists expect the social networking company to be valued at approximately $85 billion.

After the stock offering, Mark Zuckerberg, the founder and CEO of Facebook, will still control the company thanks to special shares that will carry 10 times the voting power of the public ones.

Want to tag yourself or some of your Facebook friends in a photo? This guide will show you how to do it.

First go to the photo where you want to make the tag. Once there, click on the “Tag This Photo” option that is among the links below it or in the “Tag Photo” button that is inside the photo, at its bottom right hand corner.

Once you have done that, inside the photo, click on the face of the person you want to tag, write their name, and press Enter in your keyboard. Once you have finished tagging all the people you want to tag, click on the “Done tagging” link that will be inside the photo, near its lower border.

How to Tag Users and Pages in a Status or Post

While writing a post or status update on Facebook, type the @ symbol, and right next to it, enter the name of the user you would like to tag: You just have to start typing the person’s name and then click on it in the list that will appear.

Each time you tag a friend, this friend receives a notification with a link to the status or post in which the tag was included. They will also have an option to remove the tags of themselves.

With this procedure you can tag friends and people in your same groups, pages, events, and apps. You also can tag the Facebook pages that you liked.

How to Tag Users or Pages in a Photo

Go to the photo where you want to make the tag. There, click on the “Tag This Photo” option that is among the links below it or in the “Tag Photo” button that is inside the photo, at its bottom right hand corner.

Once you have done that, inside the photo, click on the face of the person you want to tag, write their name, and press Enter in your keyboard. Once you have finished tagging all the people you want to tag, click on the “Done tagging” link that will be at the lower part inside the photo.

How to Tag Users or Pages in Multiple Photos of an Album at Once

First go to the album in question. There, at the top right hand corner of the page, click on the “Tag Photos” button.

Once you have done that, in the text box that appears below the title of the album, enter the name of the friend or page that you want to tag and click on every photo in which you want to tag them.

Once you have clicked on all the photos where you want to tag them, click on the “Save Tags” button, located at the right extreme of the text box in which you entered the name. You must repeat this process for every page or user that you want to tag.

These are the three ways in which you can tag on Facebook.

How to Create a Photo Album on Facebook

Want to create a photo album on Facebook? This guide will show you how to do it both in the new Timeline and in the old Profile.

How to do it in the Timeline

Once you have logged in to Facebook, on the top right hand corner of the page, click on your name or small profile picture.

Then, on the top left hand side of your main timeline, click on the “Photo” label and select “Create Photo Album” in the appearing options.

After doing that, select the photos that you want to upload, and once you have selected them, click on the “Open” button. Remember that to select multiple photos you have to hold the 'Ctrl' key of your keyboard pressed while clicking on those photos.

After doing that you will see a new screen. In that screen, click on the big text that says “Album Title” and replace it by the name that you will give to your album.

Also in the same screen, you have the option to set other parameters. For example, you can write a description for the album by replacing the text that says “Say something about this album” or you can set the album’s date by clicking on the “Add Date” link in order to select a value.

Once you have set those optional parameters, click on the “Post Photos” button that is near the bottom right hand corner of that screen. This way the task will be finished.

How to do it in the Profile

Once you have logged in to Facebook, on the top right hand corner of the page, click on your name or small profile picture.

Now, on the top center on the screen, click on the “Add Photo / Video” option, and then select “Create Photo Album” in the appearing options.

Then click on the “Select Photos” button, select the photos that you want to upload, and finally click on the “Open” button. Remember that to select multiple photos you have to hold the 'Ctrl' key down while clicking on those photos.

After that, Facebook will show you a form in which you will be able to give a name to the album that will contain the photos and set who will be able to view it. Set those parameters with your preferences and click on the “Create Album” button.

You can do so by clicking on the “Publish now” button or you can click on the “Skip” button to deny this offering. How to Find People on Facebook

Want to find someone on Facebook? This guide will show you how to do it.

Once you have logged in to Facebook, in the search text box that is at the top of the screen, type the full name or the e-mail address of the person you want to find and then click on the search icon, the one pointed in the next image:

If you searched the person by his e-mail, and the person is registered on Facebook, you should see his or her name at the top of the results list.

On the other hand, if you searched the person by his or her name, then click on the People icon that is in the left sidebar. This will focus the search on people, and will filter out pages and groups.

Once you have done this, you will see a list of all the people whose name matches the one you entered. If there are many people with the same name, you can detect which is the one you are looking for by seeing their pictures or by clicking on their names to see the info they share. You may have to click on the link that says “See More Results” to continue browsing the users if there are too many of them.

Once you have found the one you were looking for, in case you want to send a friend request to that person, just click on the “Add Friend” button that is at the right side of its name.

If the user accepts the request, the friend connection will be established immediately.

How to Poke Someone on Facebook

Once you have logged in to Facebook, go to the Timeline or Profile of the person you want to poke. You can do this by looking for the name of that user in the search box at the top of your page. Keep in mind that you can only poke a confirmed friend, someone in a shared network, or a friend of a friend.

Once you are in this person’s Timeline or Profile, click on the gear icon that is located at the right hand extreme below his cover picture and then, in the appearing menu, click on the “Poke” option.

This way you will poke that person.

How to Use Your Facebook Timeline

Do you want to know how to use your new Facebook Timeline? This article will show you how to manage it.

Going to your timeline

To go to your timeline, once you have logged in to Facebook, on the top right hand corner of the page, click on your name or small profile picture.

This will lead you to your timeline.

Moving through your timeline

There are three ways in which you can explore your timeline:

by scrolling up and down the timeline’s web page in your browser.
by using the menu of dates that is on the right hand side of your screen in order to jump from month to month or year to year.
by selecting a month or a year to jump to in the strip menu that appears at the top of your screen when you scroll down your timeline past your cover photo.

Adding new stories

Along your timeline you can place four kinds of stories: a small message called status update, a photo, a place, that is a short message indicating a place where you have been, and a life event, where you can tell something important that has happened in your life. The menu to add any of these four kinds of stories is available in three different places:

in the first box at the top left hand side of your timeline.
in the strip menu that appears at the top of your screen when you scroll down past your cover photo.
at any point of the central line of your timeline, by clicking on it. In this case, the story will be added to that specific point, which represents a specific moment in your past.

Editing your Timeline

As you scroll up and down through your Timeline, selecting years and months in the line at the right hand side, you will see many pieces of content grouped in many different areas or boxes. If you place your mouse pointer over the upper right hand corner of any of those boxes, you will see a star and a pencil icon appearing.

To edit or remove the content in a box, start by clicking on the pencil icon.

As seen in the image, this will deploy a drop-down menu in which you will be able to hide that content, delete it, or change its date, among other things.

On the other hand, if you want that content to be featured, click the star instead of the pencil. When you do that the box will be made larger and in this way it will attract the attention of people looking at your Timeline.

If after making some changes you are satisfied with the look of your Timeline, you can choose to publish it right then instead of waiting for the seven days period. To do this, scroll up to the top the page and click on the “Publish Now” button.

This way your Timeline will look as you want.

What is a Facebook Timeline?

A Timeline is the new virtual space in which all the content of every Facebook user will be organized and shown.

Replacing the Facebook Profile, in a Timeline the photos, videos, and posts of any given user will be categorized according to the period of time in which they were uploaded or created, in this way providing a more intuitive and comprehensible way to navigate through them.

As indicated by its name, the main navigation tool of a Facebook Timeline will be a timeline that will start in the birth date of its owner and will end in the present time. Users will be able to decide and modify the period of time assigned to any of their content, as well as the audience or group of persons that will be able to see each piece of information.

Some other remarkable new elements of this upgrade are the Cover, that is a very big picture designed to be the first thing people see when visiting a Timeline, and the new social apps, that will allow users to tell the things they do, such as for example that they’ve listened to a song or watched certain movie.

How to Hide Your Wall on Facebook

Do you want to hide your Wall on Facebook? This guide will show you how to do it.

Once you have logged in to Facebook, click on the small triangle at the top right hand corner of the page and then select the option that says “Privacy Settings.”

Once you have done this, near the center of the page, at the right extreme of the ‘How You Connect’ area, click on the link that says “Edit Settings.”

Now, in the appearing window, click on the button at the right extreme of the last label, the one that says, “Who can see Wall posts by others on your profile?” and then select the option that says “Only Me” in the appearing menu. The button and the option that you have to click are pointed in the next image:

Finally, still in that window, click on the “Done” button and the change will be made. From now on only you will be able to see the posts made by others on your Facebook Wall.

Functions that Facebook Does Not Provide

While making the Rom Cartridge’s Guide to Facebook I’ve found that many times users ask how to make things that just can’t be done, mainly because Facebook doesn’t provide the corresponding function. Although many of those lacking functions would be useful and even necessary, there are others that wouldn’t be popular or that would be contradictory to the proper working of the social network. Here is the list of lacking functions that I was able to compile:

You cannot prevent people from tagging you.
You cannot see a list of the friend requests that you have sent.
You cannot delete a group you created without previously removing one by one all its members.
You cannot be notified when someone unfriends or blocks you or see who did those things.
You cannot remove multiple friends with one single click
You cannot unlike multiple pages with one single click.
You cannot hide your profile picture.
You cannot hide who are your of friends. (You can only stop showing them on your profile)
You cannot have a dislike button.
You cannot know who sees your profile or any other content you uploaded. (Most people are happier this way)
You cannot prevent people from downloading your pictures (Since any internet user can copy and paste his or her screen, this wouldn’t be an effective function)
You cannot recover your password (If you lose it, you only can reset it)
You cannot instantly delete your account with no chance of recovery. (You have to wait 14 days without logging in to have no chance of recovery)
You cannot change your name in any way you want. (Since Facebook wants users to use their real names, the amount of name changes you can make is limited and they must be approved by Facebook representatives in order to take effect)
You cannot create a Facebook account if you are less than 13 years old.
You cannot send a private message to all your friends at the same time. (Unless you have less than 20 friends, in which case you will have to add their names to the message)
You cannot deactivate your account for less than 24 hours.
You cannot unblock someone that has blocked you. (Although blocking wouldn’t make sense if this function existed, some people have expressed that they wanted to do this)
When you unblock someone, you cannot block that person again until 48 hours have passed.

And Finally,

You cannot go back to the “old Facebook.” When Facebook makes an upgrade, it’s there to stay.

Want to send a private message to a Facebook friend? This guide will show you how to do it.

Once you have logged in to Facebook, go to the profile of the Facebook friend that you want to message. You can do this by looking for the name of that user in the search box at the top of your page. Once you are on his or her profile, click on the “Message” button, which is near the top right hand corner of the screen.

Once you have done that, you will see a small window with the name of the user you are messaging near a “To:” label. Write your message in the textbox near the “Message” label, and finally click on the “Send” button.

This way your message will be sent. The person to whom you sent the message will be notified of this by email the next time he or she logs in to Facebook.

How to View Your Facebook Profile or Timeline as Someone Else

Want to view your Facebook Profile or Timeline as other people do? This guide will show you how to do it both in the old Profile and in the new Timeline.

How to do it in the Profile

Once you have logged in to Facebook, on the top right hand corner of the page, click on your name or small profile picture and then on the “View As…” button that will appear right below.

Once you have done that, type the name of a Facebook friend in the textbox that says “Enter a Friend’s name,” located near the top center of the screen. You just have to start typing the person’s name and then click on it in the list that will appear.

Once you have done that, you will be viewing your profile as this friend you selected does. You can even use the options in the left column to see how this person views your Wall, Info, and Photos sections. To stop viewing your profile as someone else, click on the “Back to Profile” button, near the top right hand corner of the screen.

This way your profile view will be back to normal.

How to do it in the Timeline

Once you have logged in to Facebook, on the top right hand corner of the page, click on your name or small profile picture.

Once you have done that, click on the gear icon that is at the right hand extreme below your big cover picture and then, in the appearing menu, click on the “View As...” option.
