Wedding Wednesday {You're Not Invited}

So today I found a link to an article about some new trend where brides actually send a "You're not invited" invitation to politely let people who assume they'll be invited know that they actually are not invited.

Um, hello.

That's just plain rude.

There is no way that seems like any bit of proper protocol. Personally, if you think that there are some distant relatives or acquaintances that will be offended for not being invited, just make sure they know that you are having a more intimate affair. Showers and weddings aren't about having every single person you know there. It's not about how many guests you can invite to get more gifts or how many people get to see the big, expensive affair you planned. Showers are meant to be intimate with people that you know --- not the great aunts and third cousins that you've only meant once before. Weddings can be as big as you want, but there is no need to send a "You're not invited" invitation.

Believe me; I've experienced my fair share of guest list drama. And it wasn't my side of the family that had the drama. And I rather be surrounded by those that I'm familiar with rather than those that I've never met. Even if according to some other people that "I'm cheating myself out of presents." Yes, that was actually said. Sad, eh?

Make sure your day includes those who mean something to you -but please- no "You're not invited" invitations. No matter how sweet they sound, it's still pretty darn rude.

Oh how I wish I could have a Valentine's Day wedding. Or at least a February wedding where I can plan things to coordinate with Valentine's. But I'm already married and already planned it...so I guess that is out of the question.

Maybe one day I'll have a Valentine's Day party just so I can do some of the cute things I see everywhere. I crafted up an adorable Valentine's creation for my husband and I can't wait to share it. It has been awhile since I've posted one, but without further adieu...

It's a new Weekly Bridal Beauty look!!! I love piecing together bridal looks simply for the fact that you can create such gorgeous boards that can inspire any bride. Whether you're inspiring them with a new color combination or a particular style wedding gown, it is so much fun to create these boards. This week's look was inspired by none other than the romantic day itself---Valentine's Day.

Wouldn't it be oh-so-appropriate and oh-so-cute to have a Valentine's theme wedding? I definitely think it would be a gorgeous idea for any small, intimate wedding. There are countless idea and ways to dress things up for Cupid's favorite holiday.

I'm not sure how I feel about the beaded sleeves on this gown, but it does make quite an eye-catching statement. It adds character and makes things very dramatic. What's your take on it?

Oh dear St. Valentine, how I love thee. You gave us a day to take the time (and sometimes money) to show others just how much they mean to us. Sure we should do this stuff all the time -but the truth is- some people just don't. Some people don't always remember to say I love you or Thank you for all you do, some people just don't realize how much the little things really do matter.

So thank you St. Valentine for giving us a day that does indeed have a true history behind it (no the candy company didn't make it up) and thank you for trying to spread the romance.

Winter Wedding Bouquet Love

Who would think that something as simple as berries and pine cones could make such a beautiful winter statement? It is easy to create a fall palette or especially a spring or summer bouquet because the colors are endless and it easily can fit the season. When it comes to winter wedding bouquets the main option is of course to choose white or ivory. However many brides just don't want a bouquet that will blend in with their dress; they now want a bouquet that makes more of a statement all on its own.

For winter weddings the best thing is to choose pieces of nature; throw in a little sparkle; and then add a little bit of feathers. It makes a gorgeous, natural statement and any bride will wow her wedding guests with a bouquet such as these below.

Sticking to the Seasons

I'm a fan of breaking the rules when it comes to seasons and wedding etiquette. I don't believe that things have to always be by the seasonal rules; but I do appreciate the rules every now and then. Bridesmaid dresses have no particular "rule" for seasons and once upon a time most bridesmaid dresses were long (and often hideous) no matter the month.

Eventually there evolved a trend of tea length dresses that has even led to above the knee dresses in modern times. Obviously those gowns are perfect for summer and spring and although they can work for winter as well, I much prefer to see longer dresses in cooler months. This past weekend I attended a wedding where I was in love with the gray colored, long bridesmaid dresses. It was the perfect look for a rainy, cold January wedding. The silhouette on the girls was gorgeous and the color was perfect. At that moment I decided that I do indeed prefer long dresses for winter time.

Friday Favorites: Chevron Wedding Cakes

It goes without saying that Chevron is definitely all the hype right now when it comes to decor, nurseries and clothing. If you're a reader of my other blog, The Mushy Mommy, then you have likely noticed how my nursery is slowly evolving into a Chevron print room. The look is just beautiful and most of all I love to combine it with other prints and patterns.

One thing that I haven't noticed much of is Chevron in the wedding scene. I'm sure it is making an appearance, but I actually have not noticed many weddings that have it incorporated. So today, for my Friday Favorites, I wanted to see just how many of these gorgeous Chevron print wedding cakes I could find. I must say that I am pretty pleased with the result and there are even more out there on the Internet. This is such a beautiful, modern trend but when done a certain way it can actually pull off a lot of elegance.

I've had my fair share of favorite bridal designers picked out for awhile and I'm known for featuring their work quite frequently. However while meeting with a lady at a bridal boutique yesterday, I kept noticing these gorgeous Justin Alexander gowns. I think it is safe to say that I have found a new favorite designer and perhaps one of my favorite Spring lines of 2013.

All of the dresses are just simply stunning. I wish I could feature them all on my blog today, but I'm pretty sure it would be a little "bridal" overload. I've taken some of my favorites from Justin Alexander and want to share them with you. These gowns are picturesque perfect. The setup in the photos gives a vintage, old time feel and we all know that vintage is currently the mainstream trend. I'm not one who is big on rhinestones, crystals or bling; I much prefer lace and tulle. I suppose that is why these gowns are all so beautiful to me.

Even with the vintage appeal going on, these gowns are modern couture and let me tell you that I would have loved to have tried on many of these! Enjoy this feast for your eyes...

The Future of This Blog

As you know my last post was an update about the status of this blog as the other blog I have going is growing much faster than I expected and has the potential to continue on and exceed the success of Romance. The problem though, is that I still love weddings.

Normally with this blog I tried hard to post everyday. Over at my new blog, The Mushy Mommy, I am continuing a daily post and I am so touched by all of the comments and emails I get. With Romance In A Glance my stats were always amazing but to be honest my posts garnered only few comments if any. Sometimes I went weeks without comments but I still knew people were reading it. I've been told by numerous people that they read my work, but I haven't always had the blogging relationships going that I wanted.

At The Mushy Mommy my topics have gained many comments and have made me some wonderful new friends who are sharing all sorts of advice with me. I have made so many new friends from Romance as well and I hope that those of you who can relate to The Mushy Mommy will follow me over there as well.

Blogging has been a way to grow with something that I love...writing. You only get married once but you have children forever. I can tell that with The Mushy Mommy the topics and conversations are endless. As far as romance goes, it will still be the key to all of my blogging. I'm still on a mission to spread the romance but now that romance will be spread over at The Mushy Mommy.

My plans for Romance In a Glance is to continue on with wedding posts. Wednesdays will be Wedding Wednesday now where I will focus on bridal color combos and bridal looks. Basically my past sections: Color Combos and Weekly Bridal Beauty will become one combined Wedding Wednesday look. I also intend on doing a post on Mondays to catch up on new wedding trends and share new finds. From there I intend to do a Friday Favorites post.

I eventually see The Naughty Nook and Ramblings of a Romantic moving over to The Mushy Mommy and Juice on Guys will combine with the Baby Daddy Chronicles over there as well.

I hope you know how much I appreciate your views, comments and friendships. This blog has taught me the ropes to move on with blog number two and I can tell that blog number two may be the one for me to succeed at and never sit there staring at my screen wondering what to write about. But I still want to keep my relationships with you guys! :)

A Jolly Update

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season. Of course, the season really isn't over yet because we haven't reached the new year. With all of the parties, food, presents, family days and more, my blogging has taken a backseat lately. Well at least for this blog. In case you missed it, I have a new blog that I'd love for you to visit. The Mushy Mommy is all about the journey into pregnancy; marriage; motherhood and more. I'm still unsure of where my journey with Romance is going, but I have to say that The Mushy Mommy has taken off far quicker than expected and it leaves me somewhat confused as to which way to go with my blogging. I wish there was a way to just mesh the two blogs together for good. I guess we shall see where that takes me. Until then, please know that I am still here and posting daily over at The Mushy Mommy. As for know, I'm thinking that Romance will be going to a non-daily basis.

I am giving myself until the New Year to figure this out, meaning that I have just a few days to straighten out a path for both sites. Blogging has opened up many doors for me and allows me to do what I love: write and inspire others. I thank you all for reading my work and visiting. I hope you continue to do so.

A Romantic Christmas

Have you ever passed those naughty looking Christmas lingerie sets and thought to yourself that you wish you were brave enough to walk around the store with it in your hand. I remember on so many occasions passing one of those red velvet getups with the white Santa fuzz and thinking to myself "One day I will get one." Yet here I am -- old and pregnant -- and I've yet to buy one.

Is it perhaps for fear of walking through the store with it? Me? Nope. I just blame it on all of the holiday festivities that we have going on that we forget about those little, romantic things. Even though Christmas really doesn't have any romantic meaning about it, such as Valentine's Day, you can turn any event into a special, romantic memory.

We just have to learn not to let all of the shopping; baking; decorating and card making get in the way. Christmas isn't about those things. It's about Christ of course, and it is also about being with your loved ones. It doesn't have to necessarily involve a naughty Mrs. Claus outfit, but it can at least be a romantic night that you plan. Whether it's to cuddle and watch movies or to drive around looking at Christmas lights while sipping hot cocoa--it's about making memories with those we love.

And if you're brave enough, perhaps after all that cuddling and hot cocoa, you'll change into something more "festive."

Color Me Pretty: Happy Holidays

I can't believe Christmas is almost here. I swear this is the fastest the Christmas season has ever flown by for me. I feel like I haven't done all of the things that I normally do and that we just finished our shopping. In fact, I still have two gifts to wrap! Perhaps that is what happens when you are pregnant during Christmas---you just focus on the baby and not the holiday stuff. Either way, I already look forward to next year's with little baby. But until then...I can't wait for this Christmas!

I know all of you share my sadness over what happened Friday. I can't FATHOM how those parents must feel. I hope you will all be praying for the people of CT. They need our prayers.

Searching for a Wedding Planner

I recently had someone ask me about wedding planners and which one that I thought was the best. Well, to be honest I don't have a particular one that I recommend. It's all about you, the bride, and your preferences.

For me I needed a book that included lots of organization and several check lists. I was all about having lists that guided me throughout the process that would allow me ways to keep track of what was done and what had to be done. My planner had several pockets to store things and had a monthly check list. Another advantage was that it came with a year of blank calendars for me to use as I needed. It was perfect for adding in appointments and reminders. The book also of course came with tips and ideas for flowers, bouquets, centerpieces and more.

Throughout the planning process I also loved the wedding edition from Real Simple magazine. Their monthly magazines are fabulous and this one was amazing. The most helpful for me was a whole picture chart of different flowers and when they were in season. It helped me realize that tulips were out of the question for me.

Choosing the right wedding guide is all about sitting down at the book store and flipping through them all until you find the one that matches your needs. Remember that if you're an organizational neat freak like me, you may want to opt for the planner/organizer. Bonus: having one that also has keepsake sections!

Filling out my wedding planner was by far one of my favorite things to do throughout the process.

Contrast Winter {WBB}

Normally with a winter wedding you can go with darker, jeweled colors or deep holiday hues. Very rarely do you picture any sort of blush color for a December or January wedding. Adding a blush color to your palette is a spring time favorite and a summer lovely. It's a February Valentine staple and a luscious color of love. But today we added it against a dark winter bridesmaid dress to create a stunning contrast (that I love because of how unique it is). Forget the holiday golds and silvers or the red holly and evergreen. Today's December look is very unique and feminine; and quite luscious.

Time for Your Best Stripper Moves

If your guy is the type of guy who enjoys the occasional night at some rinky-dink gentleman's club for his best friend's bachelorette party, then perhaps there is a little treat that you need to give your guy yourself. Let's face it, all women pretty much despise that their guy goes to those places. If you're lucky then maybe your guy only has a handful of friends who will be getting married and decide to go to there for their last night out single. Too bad they don't have more places like that for women (how biased).

So if your guy has gone to one of those places lately then perhaps you should treat him to his own private lap dance. Heck even if he has never stepped foot in one, then perhaps you should really treat him. Crank up the music, put on your best lingerie, and find a pair of heels that you can dance in without falling flat on your face. Okay, okay...I bet you are laughing now and thinking, "That'll never happen." Maybe you aren't too sure about your dance moves or perhaps wearing hardly there ensembles isn't really your thing. Well guess what---guys won't even notice.

Guys will just notice the fact that a pretty woman, particularly the one he loves, is willing to please them and keep things interesting. They don't notice your cellulite, your stretch marks or the fact that you can't carry a beat; they just love seeing the effort you're putting into spicing things up. So perhaps tonight is the night to whip out your best dance moves and that naughty bustier you never wear. It's Friday night and it's time to spice things up. Believe me, it's worth it.
