So last evening brought with it The 86th Annual Academy Awards and it was quite the ball. With fashion queens and kings walking the most prestigious red carpet Romane Bougie caught a few eye popping moments as well as a few hits and misses.

For this years show, I noticed a lot of black, a lot of champagne colors and sheer were some of the evening's top trends. While Ellen Degeneres doing hosting duties and capturing a selfie that has amassed over 2 million retweets, lets just say this years festivities was the best in recent years. And with reports that the show brought in top ratings in years, I think Ellen should be on the look out for a callback when the 87th staging of the show gets here in 2015.

Ok, back to the fashion, with some of the fashion principals prevailing, some fell short. And if Lupita Nyong'o light blue Prada dress didn't make her the belle of the ball, I think her win for Best Supporting Actress did. The ladies weren't the only fashionable ones as the males were not to be outdone. Tuxedos! Tuxedos! Tuxedos!

Everyone knew that Hollywood's newest "it" girl Lupita Nyong'o would bring it but many didn't know which lucky designer would get to dress the belle of the ball. Ofcourse Prada got the honors and her light blue creation complemented her to-die for skin tone as well as her 2 trophies. Grade A

Red carpet queen Angelina Jolie arrived in this Elie Saab sheer gown and while in the past she's shown why she's queen, her Saab creation was far from her best. Grade C

Anne Hathaway's head to toe Gucci was a little too safe. Almost boring. Grade C

Best Actress winner Cate Blanchett stunned in a nude Armani Privé gown which features sequins and crystals. Grade A

Channing Tatum and wife Jenna might have been the best looking couple on the carpet. She's wearing Reem Acra and of course he's styling in his tux. Grade B+

Black is not a color that usually wins at the Oscars but this number by Charlize Theron gave her gold medal honors. Again minimal jewelry. Grade A

Kate Hudson's Atelier Versace gown was the talk of the town. Low cut, beaded. Flawless. Grade A+

Best Supporting Actor Jared Leto didn't opt for the traditional black tux, instead he paired his black pants with a off white jacket and a burgundy bow tie. Grade B+

Again, Navy is the color I wish was big on this year's carpet. Amy Adam's Gucci sapphire gown with subtle train was simply stunning. Grade A

A very pregnant Kerry Washington was styled in Jason Wu that didn't really struck the right note for me. Grade B-

Leonardo Dicaprio in midnight blue Giorgio Armani tuxedo. Grade B

The always beautiful Jennifer Garner donned a silver tulle fringed gown by Oscar de la Renta with matching clutch. Grade B

The night's worst dressed couple was Pharell and his wife. I don't care if you're the Prince of Wales, wearing a pair of shorts to the biggest ball in Hollywood is UNACCEPTABLE. Grade D

Jessica Biel opted fora sheer pale Chanel gown. Grade B

Not sure what I hate more, the hair or the dress. Grade C

Kelly Osbourne got it right this time but her hair still remains a question without answers. Grade B+

Wife of the host Ellen Degeneres, Portia de Rossi was simply breathtaking in Naeem Khan. Grade B+

I'm convinced there was a waiting truck ready to take Liza Minelli to the petting zoo. Grade D

My favorite tux of the night was this Givenchy tux worn by Michael B Jordan. Check out that metallic shoe. Grade B

Will and Jada in Versace. Grade B

Ball King and Queen Brangelina.

How can you not love Jennifer Lawrence in this fitted Christian Dior gown. Grade A

You can never go wrong with Navy blue and Best Actress nominee Sandra Bullock showed up and showed out in this Alexander McQueen creation. The dress accentuated her curves and she kept it minimal with jewelry. Grade A

SAMANTHA J FEATURED ON MTV IGGY'S GAME-CHANGING DANCEHALL SONGS OF 2013

While enjoying a bulk of 2013 thanks to her Alaine penned hit 'Tight Skirt', Samantha J has been featured on many a music sites as well as outlets. The young Jamaican dynamo, arguably last years breakout act has made MTV Iggy's list of game changing Dancehall songs of 2013.

As if her appearance on 106 & Park and her video being the most shared upon its debut, Ms. J now has more reasons to celebrate as her tune may very well be the best crossover song of 2013. Other songs that made thE list are 'Same Way' by Busy Signal, 'Give It To Har' by dance music maven Vegas as well as Major Lazor's 'Watch Out Fi Dis' and Chronixx's 'Here Comes Trouble'.

BEYONCE'S 'DRUNK IN LOVE' CERTIFIED BY VEVO

Congratulations are certainly in order for 'Blow' beauty Beyonce. The singer's sexed up Jay Z assisted jam 'Drunk In Love' has been certified by VEVO. This means the video has managed to rack up over 100 million views.

And albeit the video has managed to rack up this many views since its December 16 arrival, the streaming which is calculated to give give the song as spot on the chart could only afford it to get to #2 on the Hot 100. 'Drunk' is currently perched at the #5 spot after spending 10 weeks on the chart.

SNOOP DOGG'S BOLD FRENCH MANICURE

Rap veteran Snoop Dogg has set the internet ablaze when he uploaded a picture of what looks like a french manicure on his instagram page. Of course Snoop's picture was met with much criticism as fans as well as the casual listener have started to question the gangsta rapper's sexuality.

And Snoop clearly knew the backlash he would endure for the above picture, still made the bold move.

So I ask, is this something we should get worked up over or are people overreacting?

71 17 year-old New Zealand born singer Lorde has shared her feelings towards Reggae music. The 'one hit wonder' during a recent chat with VEVO, voiced her dislike for the genre claiming it makes her "feel late for something". Sure to anger many a Reggae music lover, the 'Royals' performer's comment comes as picked up two awards at the recently held Grammy Awards.

Well here's the thing... we all have 24 hours in our day and we all are entitled to our own opinions. Reggae music has been embraced globally and whether Lorde is a fan or not, the genre will still be around. Now the same thing cannot be said about her career. For while failing to produce a follow up to the gem that was 'Royals', its quite telling that her career will be a very short lived one.

With reports that Rihanna is heading back to the studio, Beyonce dug into her trusty bag of tricks to release her clever yet steamy music video 'Partition' pulled from the visual album 'Beyonce'. With the hype surrounding the album dying quicker of her chance at scoring a #1 record in this era, the star is making sure that 'Partition' does what 'Drunk In Love' never did. Perhaps an ode to Ms. Fenty.

It's quite obvious who the queen of the pack is.

When Rihanna touched down in Paris today, little did she knew she was gonna be mobbed. The singer today solidifying her queen status caused pandemonium today when she attempted to return to Jardine Matheson‘s ‘Mandarin Oriental Paris’.

Anticipation to see the megastar reached fever pitch when fans from her ever loyal Navy and ~~Beyhive~~ ran in the streets of Paris today like headless chickens wanting to catch a glimpse of the star and to possibly touch her.

I've never seen a star create such a raucous since the late great Micahel Jackson. For while living in a world where singers label themselves 'King' it seems the only King on the throne is indeed Rihanna and in case one had any doubt the Parisan Navy cemented that.

From her tomboy to flirty and risque style, the 26 year old was followed to New York City on a shopping trip by Vogue's Plum Skyes, who wanted to get the tea while its hot on Rih's move to the Big Apple as well as her ever daring fashions.

On growing up wanting to sing, but not wanting to be famous

On other singers being better than her
“It’s not all down to my voice. There’s people with way more talent than I when it comes to singing. Bigger voices. But people want to know who you are. Fashion is a clear indication, a way to express your attitude, your mood.”

On her wigs and always changing her hairstyle
“It’s not my hair, but the girl who donated it, she’s the bomb. Black girls never let anyone see this,” she adds, pulling apart the locks at the back of her head to show me the intricate workings of the false hair, which is woven into a net attached to her own. “I have two main hair people I work with. They’re always with me. I’m like, ‘I’m bored! I wanna change my hair!’ That’s the good thing about a weave. You can do whatever with it.”

On her religious beliefs
“I have a very firm relationship with God and I believe in Jesus, and I stick to that.”

On moving to NYC
“I’ve downsized. I want a smaller closet. I want simpler. Before releasing her Dancehall-tinged tune featuring Beenie Man, Ashanti was in the studio laying down other tracks to be lifted from the March 3rd pushed LP 'Braveheart', the singer gushed about wanting to work with Beenie for a long while now and has always been a fan of Reggae music and artists such as Spragga, Bouny Killa and so many others. Shanti's mom-ager even shared Ashanti always thought she was Jamaican and always wanted to be Jamaican.

As we shared earlier, the video for the song will indeed be done in Jamaica and is now confirmed by the singer herself.

While her contemporary Beyonce finding it difficult to secure a #1 single since 2008's 'Single Ladies', and rivalling her BFF Rihanna's score for most #1s, Katy Perry has done it once more. With 'Dark Horse' currently spending its 4th week atop the Hot 100, Perry serves up an eye popping visual to the cut sure to keep it atop the chart for another 4 weeks.

Albeit flooded with masonic messages, Perry never seems to disappoint on a visual standpoint. Alas if her Brit Awards showing casted a shadow of doubt by her lack thereof, the video should do some damage control. Known for being consistently inconsistent with her vocal displays, Perry stands as one of only a few act who delivers glossy and immaculate visuals.

Refreshing! For an album that has been dogged by deep potholes, it appears the singles will be of quality. With the 'Mariah-mania' that has been infecting the airwaves, the diva released a picture from the video for her sizzling single 'You're Mine (Eternal)' which will be dropping in a matter of hours on MTV. Shot on location at the El Yungue National Rain Forest in Puerto Rico, the diva can be seen sitting on a rock reminiscing about the past.
With the song both the original and remix with Trey Songz doing well on the US iTunes #11 and #29 respectively, there's no doubt the song will go #1 when the video gets here.

When Mariah re-emerges she snatches!

Less than 24 hours separates us from Mariah Carey's hotly anticipated single 'Your Mine (Eternal)' and Team Mariah has cranked up the promo gun a notch. For after announcing the title of the song as well as the release date of Mine's parent album 'The Art Of Letting Go', the diva has given us more teasing of the single which will premiere tomorrow (February 12th).

Good news awaits you...

Having heard a sizeable amount of 'Mine' its a sure hit but what will make it even greater is the remix that features none other than R&B sex machine Trey Songz.

In addition to that Mariah will release two brand spanking music videos, one for the original which will premiere on MTV and on Valentine's Day, Mimi will hit up 106&Park to unwrap the Trey Songz assisted version. It's official! Mariah Carey is back!

Yes the merited diva whipped up a frenzy just moments ago when she revealed the cover art to her new single 'You're Mine (Eternal)' which is set to be released on February 12th. In keeping with the Valentine's team, Carey's artwork bares her signature MC as well as the name of the single on heart shaped candy grams.

The diva also has a release date for Mine's parent album 'The Art Of Leting Go'. Wanna know when you can get your hands on the album? What are you waiting for? Pop open the lid for good news...

Let's face it, Rihanna's presence on video outlets is immeasurable. Being the most videwd artist on VEVO/YouTube is an accolade many a Pop juggernaut wishes to have. Since its arrival last October Rihanna's provocative 'Pour It Up' was met with strong criticism due to its strong sexual content. Well today the singer can now learn that her video has racked up a total of 100 million views becoming her 17th video to be certified by VEVO.

As if that wasn't enough, the singer's Shakira led single 'Cant Remember To Forget You' has been certified by VEVO for whipping up over 100 million views just 10 days after its debut and becoming her 18th VEVO certified video in the process.

With album #8 or R8 in the works, the beauty is hard at work on her new LP which will get here by summer. Top producers including Kuk Harrell have been prasing the record stating that Rihanna's gone to "another level" with this new album.

The singer's anticipated LP might still have couple more beats left after being rocked with delays upon delays. Well today it appears Ms. Douglas has finally got the courage to release the album which has been teased for over 5 years.

The past few days haven't been nothing short of excitement mainly because a certain diva is readying her long awaited comeback. I'm talking about Mariah Carey. The premium diva have teasing the premiere of her new single christened 'You're Mine' to pe pulled from her Spring release 'The Art Of Letting Go'. Well Mimi performed the track at the taping of last evening's BET Honors and word on the street is that she got a standing ovation at the end ofthe performance.

While we've been waiting since 2012 for this project since its launch, we havent really found the song that has pulled us. Granted she went multi platinum in #Beautiful its the il-fated 'Triumphant' and spoken word 'The Art Of Letting Go' that has gotten us worried for a minute. At this point Mariah knows she has to bring it considering her last non holiday album was back in 2009. With Dupri behind this album lets hope we get an Emancipation flavored LP.

Cop a gander of Blue Ivy and her alleged mother Beyonce listening to what appears to be Rihanna's iconic album 'LOUD'. This as Blue's mom welcomed good news of her 'Drunk In Love' single surfboarded its way to the #2 position on Billboard Hot 100.

Could this be a stunt pull by the singer to stop the stand wars between the two respective camps? Hmmm..Blue might be telling us something.

CHART CHECK: BEYONCE SURFS AT #2 ON HOT 100/ RIHANNA & SHAKIRA THREATENS

Congratulations are certainly in order for Beyonce. Why you may ask? Well the singer has now learned that she has broken the spell with her new single 'Drunk In Love' which jumped from #13 to the #2 position on the Billboard Hot 100.

Helped in part by her Grammy performance, the singer now has reason to celebrate as this is her first Top 5 hit in over 6 years, with the last being I Am...Sasha Fierce pulled 'Single Ladies'. Serial chart topper Katy Perry still holds court at the #1 spot with her sleeper hit 'Dark Horse'.

Elsewhere on the chart Shakira's Rihanna assisted 'Can't Remember To Forget You' jumped from #61 to take the #15 spot, helped in part due to its accompanying video whic premiered last week. The single has not yet gotten the performance treatment.

Will Beyonce finally get her first #1 record in 6 years or will Rihanna shatter her dreams. Time will tell.

RIHANNA COVERS THIRD US VOGUE

Its a known fact, Vogue covers are hard to come by-especially the one in the US and Pop icon Rihanna makes it look easy. The superstar singer has now graced the March issue of American Vogue bringing her collection to a whopping 5 Vogue covers-- a never before feat done by a singer. Of the 5 covers, 3 are American Vogue covers including the new one which is set to hit stands next week.

It also appears that this shoot was done in secrecy as none of the pictures we saw from the photoshoot in Brasil for Vogue has been official. Being the investigator I am, the photoshoot in Brasil is indeed for Vogue Brasil May issue.
