Sometimes, a particular application comes along that is just so groundbreaking, so interesting, so… kick ass… that it deserves its own special mention in a separate, "you must download this app right now" kind of article. While I often recommend little tidbits from here and there; rarely do I so vehemently demand that you grab an application and download it. Immediately.

Instant Elevator Music is that kind of an application.

Install this app and use its configuration screen to select an audio file of your choosing (MP3, Ogg Vorbis, or Wave). Then sit back and wait. Literally–wait. The next time you encounter an application that displays some sort of a progress bar, your music will start playing until your task has finished. It then gently fades out, leaving you with a new kind of relaxation and joy with which to tackle your newest activity.

For being such a seemingly simple program, Instant Elevator Music comes with a number of options for customizing your background jams to your liking. You can set the kinds of progress bars the application should look out for–from just downloads, to Microsoft Office bars, to everything, et cetera–and automatically have music start playing whenever windows starts up. As well, you can instantly stop your music at any time by clicking on the icon in your system's taskbar.

I come across some truly impressive feats of art while surfing the net – and this is definitely an artist with astounding determination and creativity. Erika's obvious dedication to that which she previsualizes is unparalleled. These works linked below are made from old cassette tapes and the pages and words in books. Painstakingly rendered. She can create remarkable portraits with tape that I can't render in pen or pencil.

We All Grow Up and Grow Apart

I crossed paths with a friend the other day. A friend from childhood. A friend who had always been more than just a friend; but a brother. His family was my family too. And my family was his. We grew up together. We were tied at the hip. It was undoubted that we would be pals forever. We eventually went different ways gradually through the college years and more so soon after. Careers take each to different geographical locales and eventually swallowed up our time.

When I laid eyes on him, it was as if nothing had changed in the way I felt about him as my buddy. We might as well have been eighteen again, and the last twenty years had not happened. This was always the person that knew my deepest and darkest secrets. Best buddy and confidant. But I could sense he wasn't the same person anymore. He was just crossing paths with an acquaintance. Someone to chat politely with and pass on.

It has freaked me out.

Has so much time passed; and have we each fallen into the groove of our adult lives to the point; that we no longer have that fraternal bond? Could we not be pals and still live our lives with families?

Why do we let the world of strangers steal us away from the people we love and who love us?

I actually wrote this about four years ago. It just took till now to publish it – for some reason.

Thats Right! Shocking isn't it!

No cares about your damn Farmville; or your Mafia Wars on Facebook. And just to give you the clue you obviously couldn't find yourself – these bullshit; obnoxious; spamming games; were solely devised by someone to draw out and reveal their old friends who are still stuck in high School.

So, go back down memory lane; and take your ass back to MySpace.

I'm just sayin'………
