From 17th-19th September, Gilles will present some of his favourite artists, each of whom has a distinct connection to the world and sounds of jazz, whilst occupying their own particular niche outside it.
Performances on September 17th will come from Nostalgia 77 featuring special guests Keith Tippett & Julie Tippetts, supported by young trumpeter Matt Hansall. This exclusive performance is a rare chance to catch the Tippetts in a contemporary setting.

September 18th brings hip hop giants Roots Manuva to the Club with special guest Tony Allen, supported by Speech Debelle, 2009 Mercury Prize nominee. Norwegian sonic experimentalist Bugge Wesseltoft and DJ and producer Henrik Schwarz supported by electronic crew Mount Kimbie play on September 19th.

As well as these artists cooking up a storm on the legendary Ronnie Scott's stage, renowned DJ's will play in Ronnie Scott's Bar. BPM and Actress play a set each on Saturday 19th September, and making a very special appearance will be Gilles Peterson himself, when he plays a DJ set on Thursday 17th September.

A big fan of the club and a regular during his formative years, Gilles Peterson's 2002 Impressed compilation featured a host of rare British jazz from the 50's and 60's, and many of the artists featured were no strangers to Ronnie's stage. For his residency in September, Gilles has chosen each artist personally and will introduce all of them over the 3 nights.

To book for any of these dates, please go to the performances section of the website at www.ronniescotts.co.uk/performances

A musical portrait of Aretha Franklin now confirmed to play in support of sax legend on 17/18 August !

17/18th August:
Now confirmed In support, we will feature a Musical Portrait of Aretha Franklin, completing a fantastic quality bill.
Lineup will be Natalie Williams: Vocals, Phil Peskett, keys, Robin Mullarkey, bass, Martyn Kaine, drums, Al Cherry, guitar. These two shows will be paying homage to the music of the soul Diva Aretha Franklin. Natalie Williams is one of the biggest stars on the UK soul and jazz scene and her monthly Soul Family nights at Ronnie Scott's are always a sell-out.

Headlining
When critics speak of Sonny Fortune, names like Coltrane, Cannonball, Young, Bechet, Hawkins and Parker are mentioned. Quite a legacy - but well deserved - for Sonny Fortune embodies all of the finest qualities of those late, great musicians: hard work, dedication to his art, and exceptional music. Lucky for us Sonny is still here and
blowing hard.
