My photography was always very much rooted in photojournalism and inspired by traditional black and white photography. But since I was selected back in 2011 as a participant of Noorderlicht Master Class it went up to a total different level.

Shortly after, my photographic series entitled “Infiltrators” won the 2012 first prize in the News category of Local Testimony Press Award and was exhibited in the Eretz-Israel Museum in Tel Aviv.

Most recently I was selected for Eddie Adams Workshop XXV which is an amazing honour and opportunity for every emerging photojournalist. It’s not everyday that one gets to share a drink and have a chat about photography with Pulitzer winners and other most inspiring photographers and editors from around the world.

Ok…that’s nice, but how is it related to wedding photography?

It’s simple. I’ve stopped doing what “everyone else is doing” in the wedding photography industry. As it is too often that I see photography “of something”. Instead I want my photography to be “about something”. So that is when I’ve decided to bring the real and pure documentary photogrpahy into the world of wedding photography. Because photographs that will touch us the most will always be about the way people feel, and not about how they look. With this thought in mind ROMAN Storytelling Wedding Photography was born.

My apologies to all the couples and my blog visitors. It’s been a long- way too long- since I’ve updated my blog. The thing is, it’s been  a very busy period for me and for us. As its always with new beginnings, and there were for sure some beginnings lately. Being a student at the age of thirty. Working on my first documentary photo project.  Moving to a new place in a new town… AND…getting ready for our baby to come to the world. Well, this beginning we yet to feel But we are sure it will be one of the most amazing beginnings in both of our lives. At least that what everyone else is saying!

YEP…Special – crazy days. 

Anyways, in the coming weeks I promise to publish all the weddings I still haven’t published back from 2011.  But before I take you back to the warmth of the Autumn-Summery days,  I wish to share with you a few photos from this freezing and breathtaking period of the year.

I have to admit, I’m not keeping up with the pace of posting all the weddings I’ve shot lately, officially five weddings behind. And though in less than 12 hours I will fly to Israel, I wish to share with you the beautiful wedding of Anna and Roland, a fun couple who I had the privilege to photograph back in August. I want to use this opportunity also to wish you all Merry X-mas and a very very happy New-Year !!!

A bit of history about West-Indisch Huis straight out of the Wikipedia “In this building, the Dutch West India Company’s governors in 1625 ordered the construction of a fort on the island of Manhattan, laying the foundations for New York City.” On the 28th of August, 2011 Isabelle and Gareth wrote their history in their as well. I wish for you that the foundations you laid down will make your L-O-V-E- blossom as NYC blossoms today, being one of the most loved cities in the world.

Alyone and Sergey got married in the Netherlands. It was not a big wedding. Their families and friends are many many miles away.

I was asked to take bridal photo’s with the two of them short time after their marriage.  They’ve told me: “it’s for the memory and for our future children” !

Michelle and Shaun got married in Landgoed Rhederoord.  I have to admit that it’s been awhile since I’ve seen such a gorgeous setting for a wedding ceremony. And ohh…I’ve learned, actually was reminded, that when South Africans party, they party hard!
