Roof QSE has been a proven resource for cleaning black mold, algae, and other sources of roof stains for 20 years now and it is not uncommon for us here at the CleanerToday Customer Service and Inquiry Response Unit to receive stories and photos from satisfied customers documenting the incredible stain removing power of our proprietary formula known as Roof QSE, which stands for Quick, Simple, Effective! But even our seasoned veteran customer resource specialists were simply stunned with what a recent customer was able to achieve with an application of Roof QSE and we think you will be too.

An Older Roof To Be Cleaned

This customer applied Roof QSE, as directed, to a roof that was at least 15 years old and quite heavily stained. The customer was hoping to sell this house and he knew that a key component of existing home sales pricing is the quality and appearance of the roof. A heavily stained roof, such as this one, even if it is structurally sound and might be expected to last for another dozen or more years, will drag down the sale price, or even the very salability, of a house.

Roof QSE – Before and After

The difference between the before and after is incredible and cleaning results such as these are sure to increase the sale value and the readiness with which the house will sell, without doubt.

QSE For ANY Roof and ANY Home

But you don’t have to be selling your home to want your roof to look cleaner, better, and more appealing to both you and passersby. The time to make your roof look fantastic with Roof QSE is anytime you want amazing results such as this customer proves are possible.

Incredible Results on An Older Roof

Part of the reason for our surprise is that many times roofs of 15 years of age do not clean as well as we, or some of our customers, would hope. This is simply because the older a roof is and the longer those stains have been up there, the more difficult it is to achieve fantastic results. But, as this customer’s experience proves, sometimes incredible and amazing things do happen, especially with the unbeatable cleaning power of Roof QSE.

Following Directions

This customer followed our detailed instructions exactly, and that was a critical component of his success. He dissolved the QSE, which is provided in multiple one pound “EZ Pouches,” in five gallons of water. The water can be cold because as the QSE dissolves it will heat the water because of the chemical reaction immediately taking place. The dissolved QSE is either prepared in, or then placed in, a pump-up sprayer and then sprayed on the roof until the roof is just wet enough to start to run. He worked in small patches, one at time, no more than 300 square feet at a time. He waited 25 minutes and then rinsed with a pressure washer and achieved the results you see.

Up On the Roof!

It is very important to note that this customer, as the photos demonstrate, was up on the roof doing the cleaning and rinsing. This is critical. There simply is no product that can be sprayed up on to your roof from the ground that will deliver this type of results. If there were, we would absolutely be selling it.

Pressure Washer Needed

This customer also rinsed with a pressure washer which further ensured his success. The amount of pressure available from a garden hose, even with a sprayer attachment, is highly unlikely to be adequate to remove roof stains caused by mold and algae. While the Roof QSE will kill the mold and algae on contact, no question, the roof won’t look clean until the now dead debris is rinsed away. Many customers are worried that the use of a power washer will blow the granules off of their roof, and it would if done improperly. But, if a white or green fan tip is used with the pressure set to no more than 150-200 psi, you will not harm your roof but you will have adequate pressure to remove those ugly stains caused by the now dead mold and algae.

You Can Do It Too!

Accept no substitute for the incredible cleaning power of Roof QSE, sold exclusively on-line by CleanerToday.com. There is simply nothing else on the market that can deliver the kind of results shown here. With Roof QSE and little bit of elbow grease on your part, you too can potentially uncover a beautifully clean and appealing roof on your home, whether it is for sale or not. Visit CleanerToday.com and try Roof QSE today for all your roof cleaning needs.

After a 25 minute wait when washing a roof, the rinse process begins. A garden hose doesn't always have enough pressure to rinse the roof, but a water broom or wide fan spray tip on pressure washer can safely provide a low pressure, high volume rinse to deliver great roof cleaning results.

Thanks for the compliment
In many cases the pressure from a garden hose is just not enough to displace the dead algae and mold. It’s the equivalent of rinsing an oak leaf down a gravel driveway with your vegetable sprayer.

A water broom makes things go faster. Or the most common way to rinse is careful use of wide spray using a fan tip on a pressure washer (keeping the pressure under 150psi-175psi).

This weekend is another wash out – all rain – all day, every day. I am hoping that I will be able to get back on the roof and complete the QSE roof cleaning treatment next weekend, but who can predict the weather?

You have a great product.

Not every light colored shingle roof can be cleaned with a full strength roof cleaner. If you are planning a DIY roof cleaning project and your roof is a light color, be certain the shingles can be cleaned with a quick colorfast test. Remember, under that light color layer is dark black asphalt just waiting to be seen!

Roof Cleaning – Colorfast Test

If you have a grey, white, tan or other light colored shingle roof and are planning a DIY roof cleaning project be certain that your roof can handle the cleaning product.

So before cleaning your entire roof, try your roof cleaning product on a discrete area (probably on the back or side of the house) and test the cleaner to ensure that the Roof Color is not altered by the roof cleaning process. This is called a roof cleaning colorfast test. Just like any cleaning process, you should always be sure that the product will not make the situation worse.

A colorfast test is not necessary on dark roofs

Why ColorFast test your roof?

Why should I bother with a colorfast test? It’s easy and can avoid a making a ugly roof ulgier.

Roof Cleaning Professionals check for ColorFastness

Keep in mind that a roof cleaning professional will always check your roof for colorfastness the day your roof is going to be cleaned. If your dirty roof shingles are not colorfast, the roof cleaner may adjust the roof cleaning product strength, reduce rinsing pressures or in most cases will advise the homeowner that the roof is too far gone to be cleaned using standard roof cleaning techniques. At this point, before continuing a roof cleaning professional will usually have the homeowner sign a release form acknowledging that proceeding could make things worse.

DIY Roof Cleaning ColorFast Check

As a DIY Roof Cleaning project, you should perform a color fast test. Just use the Roof Cleaning product need to do the same things a roof cleaning professional would do.

How to perform a Roof Shingle ColorFast Test

The idea behind the colorfast test is basically to try a mini-cleaning project on a un-noticeable area of your roof. You are not looking for Improvement, you are specifically looking to see if the roof cleaning technique does not remove the stains or makes the stains darker.

Pick a discrete 2ft x 2ft section of roof

Apply the Roof Cleaning Product first at half strength

Rinse using the correct pressure and techniques

Allow to dry

Inspect area to determine if stains are worse

if stains are not worse, repeat the process with full strength roof cleaner

If the colorfast test causes the stains to appear worse, your roof may not be able to handle the roof cleaning product or process you are attempting. At this point, you probably won’t ask yourself to sign waiver paper work, but you should ask yourself Am I willing to risk making things worse?. Most homeowners at this point will stop and realize that roof replacement is the logical next step. Although some homeowners will go ahead and clean the roof knowing that it could make matters worse, but figuring that they already intend to replace the roof anyway so if it makes it worse, it won’t matter for long.

Roof Shingle Color – Its the Granules

The core of an asphalt shingle roof is a black asphalt bulked with crushed limestone with embedded roof granules pressed into the surface while hot. An asphalt shingle’s color is determined shingle granules and the specific pigment in the silicate coating of the roofing granules. Granules are very small, sized between 1/32″ and 1/16″ and are made of crushed rock (typically granite and limestone). These granules are covered in a microscopic paint-like pigment that provides the color.

Roof Cleaning that dislodges granules can cause a loss of color because of fewer granules, and some roof cleaning products may affect the painted pigment reducing the color of the roof. This is especially noticeable on light color roofs because a reduction in any amount of “light” color will allow the “dark” shingle core to appear more dominant. It’s not that the roof is changing colors, as much as the dominant color is playing tricks with our eyes causing the roof to appear darker.

Given how easy a colorfast test is, we always advise you to check first, clean second.

Ugly Roof Stains – Why we started the roof cleaner guide.

We were surprised to find out in 1998 that the ugly black stains and streaks on the roof of our house and most of our neighbor’s houses was actually a form of roof mold or algae.

We tried to find information about choosing a roof cleaner, but really couldn’t find much more than a couple roof cleaner products pointing fingers at each other over who was better. Learning about roof cleaning should not be that hard!

That experience brought us to creating the Roof Cleaner Guide. We want to help you whether you decide on a DIY roof cleaning project or using professional roof cleaning services.

Our goal is to help you decide how to clean your roof.

We appreciate you visiting!
