AND UPDATE FOR ICS

If you own a Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 running on Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread DDKQ5 or DDKQ6 version, you can now easily root your device. If you are unsure what version your phone is running, you can verify by heading to Settings > About Phone > Firmware Version, in which you can find valuable information on what type of firmware version your device has.

What is Rooting?

For those of you who are not familiar with rooting, it is like jailbreaking your phone to support neat new features normally not found on a smartphone. There are many benefits you can have once you gain root access on your device. For example, you can make your phone run faster, install custom ROMs, and install (sideload) applications from third-party sources.

Along with great functionalities and features rooting has to offer, it also has some downsides. Once you root your device, you are also (possibly) voiding its warranty. Although, there is usually the option of unrooting your device by updating it with a stock ROM. Overall, rooting can be a win-win situation.

Prerequisites

Just in case your phone data, call log, text messages, and media files get erased in the process, you need to backup those files as a precautionary measure.
In order for the rooting process to begin, it is highly suggested that you need to at least charge your phone to 60%.
You also need to enable USB Debugging on your phone. This can be enabled by heading to Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging.
Lastly, close all potentially conflicting applications on your computer such as antivirus software, Samsung Kies PC Suite, and firewall software as they tend to disrupt or block the rooting process. If you do have other unnecessary applications that cause your phone delays, you should uninstall them or remove them as well.

Once the necessary preparations have been done, you are now ready to proceed to the rooting instructions.

Rooting Instructions

Download the latest Galaxy ACE Rooting Package to your computer. Get the file here(about 925 KB).
Connect your phone to your computer via USB cable.
Copy the downloaded ZIP file to your phone’s SD card without renaming or modifying the file.
Reboot into recovery mode. Turn off your phone. Then, simultaneously press and hold the Volume Up + OK button, and press the Power button.
Your phone will boot to the recovery mode screen. From here, choose “Install zip from SD Card” and select “Choose Zip from SD”.
Using the Volume Up and Volume Down keys, locate the ZIP file that you just copied to your SD card (the one named “upd_1.zip”). Press the Power button to select it.
Wait for about 5 – 10 minutes for the rooting process to finish.
Once the rooting process is done, your phone will automatically reboot. If it fails to do so, head back to the main menu by selecting “++++ Go Back ++++” and select “Reboot System Now” to manually reboot your phone.

Congratulations! You have successfully rooted your Samsung Galaxy Ace. You can now enjoy the benefits of having a rooted device.

Copy recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.6-galaxyace-fix.zip on SDcard
Completely switch off the phone
Reboot by pressing Home+Power button and then release only the power button
Now goto apply update from sdcard >> then select the recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.6-galaxyace-fix.zip
That`s it... After the process completed reboot your phone.

Now you will have ClockWorkMod(CWM) on your phone. Next time when you Reboot by pressing Home+Power button your phone will go to ClockWorkMod(CWM).

AFTER THAT FOLLOW THE STEPS BELLOW

Step 1. Download the zip file for the ICS CM9 from here. Click Download. The file name should be the Samsung-Galaxy-Ace-ICS-CM9-Beta-8.zip file which was 125mb file size. Click Download and save it on your PC.

Step 2. Now connect the smartphone to your computer and then move the above firmware zip on the phone’s SDcard. Now disconnect the device from the PC and then proceed and power off the phone.

Step 3 Enter into recovery mode by pressing and holding the menu center button and power button together. In case it boots into normal mode, then you should repeat the action. Remember that this should be done when the phone is OFF.

Step 4 When Clockmod Recovery shows it main screen you need to select the option that says ‘install zip from sdcard’ and then ‘choose zip from sdcard’. Select the zip file you’ve moved at step 2 and then confirm the installation of the new firmware files.

Step 5 When the update is complete you need to get back to the main recovery menu and select ‘reboot system now’. Please note that your phone will perform its first boot with the new custom ROM. Also, this might take a while before loading all the apps and the Android ICS home screen.

However, in case the first boot take too long to load it means that something went wrong and you will need to repeat all the above steps.

Steps to Root your HTC Chacha:

Step1: Firstly you need to download the CWM recovery package and also theSuper user file on your system. Post to this connect your HTC Chacha and importthe file on the external memory of your phone.

Step 2: Now disconnect the device and head on to settings. You need to disable the fast boot for which you need to go to settings>>>Power>>>Fast Boot and then turn it off. After this you need to press the Volume Down + Power button to bring your device in the HBoot option.

Step 3: Now the device will automatically scan the PH06IMG.zip and will start the installation process. Once it is done press the Volume Up key and then start the flashing process and then manually reboot the device. Once your HTC device gets reboot, you again need to turn it off to bring it into the HBOOT mode. For this you need to press Volume Down key + Power button at the same instance.

Step 4: Once you reach to the HBOOT, you device will scan for the PH06IMG.zip, which it place in the external memory. Now enter into therecovery mode by pressing the power button and Volume key.

Step 5: Now select the zip file which you imported having the name, “su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed.zip”. Select this file and press Yes to confirm the installation. It wil take few seconds and then the device will automatically reboot. That’s it you have now successfully rooted the device to install the super user on your HTC Chacha.

THIS GUIDE WILL HELP YOU ROOT ANY WILDFIRE WITH HBOOT VERSION 1.01.0001/1.01.0002

This guide is in fact a combination of two other guides:

To root, you first need to gain S-OFF, this part is taken from the first thread.

So here we go,
- Before doing anything, make sure you have the latest HTC SYNC on your PC (get it from here).
- Connect your phone to PC and sync all your data (contacts, media, docs...etc.)
- Disconnect your phone, then uninstall HTC SYNC, but you must leave the drivers on your PC.
(i.e. Uninstall the htc sync program only, not the drivers)

S-OFFing the Device

Downgrade to HTC Froyo WWE for AlphaRevX "now named: Revolutionary" (HBOOT 1.01.0001)
It has been confirmed that AlphaRevX "Revolutionary" tool is not S-OFFing wildfire (buzz) 2.2.1, with HBOOT 1.01.0002!
Therefore, downgrading the HBOOT to 1.01.0001 is must for the meantime, to get an efficient S-OFF.
Lots of people seem to be having issues when trying to downgrade their Wildfire from a carrier-branded version (HBOOT 1.01.0002) to unbranded WWE (HBOOT 1.01.0001).

So, here’s a small package to help you do this.

If you have HBOOT 1.01.0001, you can skip to the step entitled Revolutionary

Extract this package somewhere you can find it, like your “Desktop” for example.

Step 1: run step1.bat from the package. This will downgrade your MISC partition to allow for the RUU downgrade.

At the end, GoldCardTool will start up, to allow you to create a goldcard which you will need before starting Step 2.

How to deal with Gold-Card Tool:
1. Switch off your phone, remove your microSD card.
2. Insert the microSD card into your card reader, connect it to your computer and format the card to FAT32 file system.
3. Insert the card into your HTC Wildfire and power it on.
4. Make sure USB Debugging is enabled on your phone in Menu > Settings > Applications > Development.
5. Connect the phone to your computer via USB and set the mode to charge only.
6. Launch Gold-Card Tool on your computer and click ‘GetCID’.
7. Copy the CID code from the text box and click the link shown below that text box to open it in your browser window.
8. In the browser window, enter all the details required and submit that form.
9. You should now get an email from PSAS. Open it and download the ‘GoldCard.img’ attachment.
10. Now set your phone’s USB mode to Mass Storage.
11. In Gold-Card Tool, click ‘Refresh’.
12. Select your mounted SD card from the drop-down menu saying “HTC MMC:”
13. Click ‘Load Goldcard.img’ and select the file downloaded in Step 11.
14. Click ‘Patch MMC’ and your Gold Card will be created. You may exit Gold Card Tool once done.
After you've made the goldcard, and patched it, continue with step 2.
• Step 2: run step2.bat from the package. This will downgrade your ROM version to HTC WWE Froyo for Wildfire (unbranded).
If you get a Customer ID error while doing this, your goldcard is not working!
Create a new goldcard and re-run step2.

Revolutionary

* Steps:
1st You need to get to: http://revolutionary.io/ to download the tool, and to get your “beta key” which you’ll get in a pop-up window in the same download page after you click the download link for (windows version).
The “beta key” is a must; the tool won’t work without it!
You’ll be asked to provide your phone “serial no.”, typically it should be something like HTXXETDXXXXX, and you can get it from:
Settings --> about phone --> phone identity.

Now, do the following:
1. Run latest version of HTC Sync on your PC and connect phone in HTC Sync mode and sync all your files. Remove HTC Sync and not the drivers.
2. Reboot phone.
3. Settings->Applications->Development->Check “USB Debugging”.
4. Run Revolutionary and connect phone to PC in “Charge Only mode”.
5. Revolutionary should recognize your phone and show your Device Serial number.
7. Type out the “key” in the Revolutionary tool software, keeping in mind the upper and lower case letters and press enter (you can copy / paste the key).
8. Revolutionary should start doing its job and you’ll get S-OFF in less than 90 seconds.
9. If it takes longer, just wait for the 15 minutes mark, if nothing, then reboot phone and retry.
(Some members got S-OFF after multiple tries)

Now, to get to actually rooting the phone by installing clockworkmod and subsequently, the superuser app.

1. Ensure that your SD Card is FAT32 then copy this to the root of your SD card: http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...7&d=1300751790
2. Go into HBOOT(switch off phone and switch on while holding down the volume down button) and click yes when it asks you to update
3. Remove the img file from your sd card and add this file: http://bit.ly/su2361ef
4. Go into HBOOT and click Recovery!
5. Click install zip from sdcard (or some thing like that) (Protip: Navigate in the recovery with the trackpad, not the power button!)
6. Click choose zip from sdcard
7. Locate your zip and let it update
8. Boot into your now rooted phone and install ROM Manager from the market.
9. Open ROM manager and Install Clockword Mod recovery (or sth like that) twice in a row (this is important to ensure proper installation)

YOU ARE NOW ROOT!!!!

Okay, it took me some trying and stuff but I finaly found a way!

Okay, this is going to be simple step-by-step

FirsT: Copy this to the root of your SD card: http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...7&d=1300751790
Second: Go into HBOOT and click yes when it asks you to update (note: Please make sure your SD card is FAT32 and not FAT, it must be FAT32 for this step to work.

Third: Remove the img file from your sd card and add this file: http://bit.ly/su2361ef

Fourth: Go into HBOOT and click Recovery!

Fifth: Click install zip from sdcard (or some thing like that) (Protip: Navigate in the recovery with the trackpad, not the power button!)

Sixth: Click choose zip from sdcard

Seventh Locate your zip and let it update

AND YOU'RE DONE!

So here we go,

Rooting the device:
Step 1 - Installing the USB drivers
Download USB drivers (here) and extract them on desktop. Turn off your wildfire and boot into HBOOT by holding the VOLUME DOWN + POWER button. Connect your phone to your PC and it will show "drivers installing" or similar there for Android device. When prompted, install the drivers by going to device manager and browsing to the folder where you extracted the drivers. Once installed, disconnect and reboot your phone normally.
Now you need to install the “Android bootloader interface”.
Connect your HTC wildfire to the PC and it will ask for drivers again, now go to device manager, click on unknown device “other devices”.
Click on update driver -> install from specific location -> No i will choose to install -> choose Android phone and click on “adb interface” -> click next -> when asked to install click on continue anyway, just install them.
Once done you will see your phone recognized as "Android bootloader interface".
Now disconnect your phone and go into:
Settings -> applications - > development - > enable USB Debugging.
Congratulations, the first step is complete.

N.B:
At that point, I got a real headache trying to fix that driver thing! What happened with me was totally different, the windows (7, 32-bit) didn’t seem to recognize any of these drivers and I was really so desperate, was about to give up the whole thing!
But, I’ve tried something that perfectly worked, and the driver was fixed!
How? Here we go:
If the drivers didn’t work, proceed with Step 2.
While the RUU installation is proceeding it will fix the driver itself, the installation will stop giving you a connection error, don’t panic, just exit, restart your computer (keep your phone connected, DO NOT unplug it), then start the RUU again, it will proceed normally till the end.

Step 2 - Downgrading from Android 2.2.1 Froyo to Android 2.1 Éclair
Download the RUU rom (here) which is an original stock rom. Plug your phone into the PC and set it to "Charge through USB". Double click RUU rom .exe
Follow the on screen instructions and then let it install. Your phone will reboot into stock HTC 2.1
This will be the last time you will be seeing it though.

Step 3 - Gaining root using Unrevoked, get ClockworkMod and set your phone free
Download the test version of unrevoked (here). Let me repeat, DO NOT USE UNREVOKED 3.32 as it will lead to CID errors or to be precise this error
"Validation error, backup CID is missing"
This may be caused as the 3.32 does not support the HBOOT. Hence you need specific test version of Unrevoked 3.2 to do the job. Download it, save it on desktop, and run it. Now connect your phone and the rooting will start. Once done, you will have ClockworkMod recovery installed on your phone.
Reboot your phone now (using the VOLUME UP/DOWN key for navigation and clicking using TRACKBALL, the POWER button takes you back in menus). Once rebooted, you will see the “Superuser” app in your phone and....

congratulations, your phone is successfully rooted.

Flashing CM-7 ROM (or any other ROM)
Installing CyanogenMod 7 (Android Gingerbread 2.3.3)
Download the CyanogenMod 7 (here) (choose stable mod) for best results and download the latest version.
You will also need Google apps (here) or here (for latest version).
Place both files on desktop, connect your phone as USB disk-drive and transfer both zip files on SD card. Once done, reboot your phone into ClockworkMod Recovery (booting by holding the VOLUME DOWN + POWER button and clicking on recovery)
Once the device boots into the ClockworkMod Recovery, use the side VOLUME buttons to move around, and either the POWER button or the TRACKBALL to select.
• Select the option to “Wipe data/factory reset”.
• Then select the option to “Wipe cache partition”.
• Select Install zip from SDcard.
• Select Choose zip from SDcard.
• Choose update-cm-7.0.3-buzz-signed.zip & Let it install.
• Once done, Select Install zip from SDcard.
• Select Choose zip from SDcard, choose gapps-gb-20110307-signed.zip
• Once the installation has finished, get back to the main menu by clicking the POWER button and select the “Reboot system now” option.

Congratulations
The HTC Wildfire should now boot into CyanogenMod

However as this Samsung Galaxy Y S5360 was at low cost it has got some less features as well as low optimization on Operating System all in order to come to its low price. In order to remove the limited functionality of this device the rooting of the Smartphone is necessary. Rooting process is known to be quite risky but yes if followed properly you will be completely safe. Rooting is very compulsory step required for low end Smartphones. So let’s get started. But remember to completely charge your device as this is the starting requirement.

Safety First :

As you are going to do a risky job follow these safety measures before starting.

Your Smartphone should be fully charged or at least with 60% charged, in order to get ready for rooting else if you try on low battery your Device will crash and hence will get Jammed.

Backup all your Data like Images, Contacts etc. before rooting because all files will get removed during rooting of the device.

Connect your Device Samsung Galaxy Y S5360 to the computer only via USB. (Forgot about Bluetooth)
No Extraction is required. Copy the Zip file to the root of the SD card and remember not to paste in any folder as it would cause an interruption.
Never Unplug your Device Samsung Galaxy Y S5360 while rooting
Switch off your Smartphone to enter into recovery mode
Keep pressing The Volume Up Key, Home key and Power Button to enter the recovery mode.

1. INSTALLING GALAXY S3 DRIVERS

The first thing you need to do is to install the drivers. These are needed so that you can communicate with the phone via the PC and perform the tasks that the ToolKit offers.

a. Make sure your phone is booted into Android and the USB cable is unplugged.

b. Select Option 1 in the ToolKit to install the Samsung USB Driver pack. This should install all the neccessary drivers you need.

c. After the drivers have been installed connect the USB cable and the PC should detect the phone and install the correct drivers. This will also happen when you enter Download Mode and Recovery Mode for the first time.

d. If you want to check the drivers then go to your Control Panel on your PC and open the Device Manager. With the USB cable connected you should see a device listed as 'Samsung Android Phone' or something similar and a driver attached to it.

2. USING MSKIPS' SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 TOOLKIT V1.0

a. Download the Samsung Galaxy S3 ToolKit package and run to install the ToolKit to your PC. The installation will also create a Shortcut on your desktop for easy access. You have the option to include or exclude the drivers files at installation so if you already have your drivers set up and are just updating the ToolKit then you can untick the drivers if you wish.

b. Once the ToolKit is installed make sure your phone is booted and plugged in via USB cable and double click on the 'Samsung GS3 ToolKit v1.0' shortcut on your desktop to run it.

c. When you enter the Main Menu you will see 'Adb Mode' at the top. If you have installed your drivers correctly then you will see your phones serial number under the text. If you see this then your device is connected and you can carry on.

d. Each option has full information on what it is and how to use it.

3. FLASHING A ROM, RADIO OR KERNEL VIA CWM RECOVERY

a. Download your chosen Rom, Radio or Kernel from the Development Forum, then make sure your phone is booted up as normal and connect your usb cable so it goes into MTP Mode. Copy the .zip file (DO NOT UNZIP IT FIRST) to the 'Internal Storage' part on your phone. Do not copy it to a Sub Directory as it will be harder to find when flashing it.

b. Enter CWM Recovery (shut down the phone then hold down the 'HOME' + 'VOLUME UP' buttons and press the 'POWER' button for about 5 seconds).

c. Scroll down to 'Install zip from sdcard' and select using the HOME button. Then select 'choose zip from sdcard' if the file is on the external Memory Card or 'choose zip from internal sdcard' if the file is on Internal Memory.

d. Scroll to your zip file and select. Then scroll down to 'Yes' in the list and select to start flashing.

e. When flashing is finished press the BACK Button to go back until you get to the Main Menu and then select 'reboot system now' to reboot your phone into Android.

4. FLASHING A ROM, RADIO OR KERNEL VIA DOWNLOAD MODE USING ODIN

Odin can be used to flash image files or parts of your phone. You can flash something as simple as a boot image or a complete system. Everything is packed in a tar or tar.md5 file on your PC and flashed via Odin which is a Windows OS program.

a. Make sure you have your tar file stored on your PC.

b. Reboot your phone to Download Mode [shut down your phone, then hold down the Home + Volume DOWN Buttons and press the Power Button for about 2 seconds until a Warning screen appears. Press Volume UP to continue to Download Mode.

c. Connect your phone via usb and the first box at the top under ID:COM should turn blue and have some text in it. If you are using Download Mode on your phone for the first time then you will notice drivers being installed to use it.

d. The site or page you downloaded the file from will usually give you instructions to set Odin but if not you want to load boot/recovery/system files to the PDA location and have 'Auto Reboot' and 'F.Reset Time' ticked and nothing else.

e. Click on 'Start' to start the flash. You can see what is happening in the text box in the lower left.

If you’re thinking about wanting to truly customize your Android phone – and this is currently one of the best Android phones on the market – then look no further than rooting! That’s right, there is finally a way to root your Galaxy S2 on T-Mobile, thanks to some of the forum members on RootzWiki’s forums. For those of you new to Android, rooting is amazing. It basically give you the ability to have total control of everything on your device, much in the same way an administrator would have full access to a computer. Right now, if your phone isn’t rooted, you’re really more like a guest. Rooting allows you to remove or freeze bloatware — like Verizon’s VCast and other carrier specific apps — that are annoying, and you are unable to delete without being rooted. What You’ll Need:

1. ODIN Ver. 1.8.4 (or greater). Can be found with Google.
2. Your correct Windows drivers. These can be had via Samsung Kies, which can also be Googled.
3. Clockwork Recovery ODIN for T-989. Download HERE or HERE.

5: An SD Card for Clockwork Recovery to work.

Step-by-Step Guide:

1: Make sure Windows recognizes your phone in ODIN. To do this use the adb command adb reboot download. Or Turn off the phone, hold both PWR + Vol Down, and plug in the USB cable.
2. Select the ‘PDA’ button and browse to recovery-cwm-hercules.tar.
3: Select ‘Start’.
4: The file should flash to recovery and reboot the phone.
5: After the reboot, mount USB storage and copy the Superuser.zip file to the SD card.
6: Reboot into recovery with the adb command adb reboot recovery or power off, unplug the USB, hold down the Vol Down+ Vol Up buttons and press Power.
7: You should boot into Clockwork recovery.
8: Perform a nandroid backup from the backup/restore menu.
9: Select ‘Install ZIP from SD Card’ choose the Superuser.zip file, and let it install.
10: Reboot your device.

Once your device reboots, you should be rooted with SuperUser access, and able to do almost anything with your Android device now. Now you can flash new ROM’s to your heart’s content.

Samsung just recently rolled out to the Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 a new Ice Cream Sandwich update known to the community as the XWLPD build. For those of you who have just flashed the recent firmware, you may already know that flashing official ROMs such as the XWLPD firmware will mean losing your root privileges.

Luckily for Galaxy S2 owners, XDA Developers member Chainfire has already made an exploit that will allow you to root your phone, as well as install ClockworkMod Recovery using the CF-Root Kernel. The kernel is fully stock and is primarily based on the original firmware, with some added features. The CF-Root Kernel has root access, BusyBox 1.16.2, and ClockworkMod Recovery.

Requirements

Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 running stock Android 4.0.3 ICS build XWLPD

A Windows PC
Samsung USB device drivers for the Galaxy S2 installed on your PC. You can use Samsung KIES to obtain the drivers.
Temporarily disable Samsung KIES, anti-virus tools, and firewall programs as they are known to interrupt the installation process.
Enable USB Debugging on your phone. You can do this by heading to Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging. Make sure that there is a check mark beside that option.
Backup all personal data on your phone to make sure you have a copy of your personal data (e.g., contacts, SMS, MMS, Internet settings, Wi-Fi passwords, and the like) in case the procedure in this guide erases such data.

Instructions

Download the CF-Root Kernel (CF-Root-SGS2_XX_NEE_LPD-v5.4-CWM5.zip, 6.2 MB) package to your computer.
Download Odin3 1.85 (Odin 1.85.zip, 200 kB) to your computer.
Extract the downloaded CF-Root Kernel ZIP file using any extracting software such as WinZIP or 7-Zip. Place the extracted file inside a single folder. Important! Do not extract the TAR file.
Extract Odin 1.85.zip and place the contents inside a single folder.
On your PC, launch the Odin3 application by double-clicking Odin3 v1.85.exe.
Switch off your Samsung Galaxy S2.
Boot your phone into Download Mode. You can do this by pressing and holding down the Volume Down, Home, and Power keys together until you are greeted with a Warning!screen. Press the Volume Up key to enter Download Mode.
Connect your Galaxy S2 to your PC via USB cable. You should see a message “Added!” under Odin’s message box found on the bottom-left of the application. This should indicate that your phone’s USB drivers have been installed.
In Odin3, click the PDA button, then browse for the CF-Root-SGS2_XX_NEE_LPD-v5.4-CWM5.tar file. Make sure that Repartition is not checked.
Important! Do not make any changes in Odin aside from the one’s mentioned in this tutorial. Doing so may cause irreversible damage to your device.
Select the Start button in Odin to begin flashing the CF-Root Kernel on your Galaxy S2.
Once the firmware has been installed, your phone should automatically reboot. A “PASS” message with a green background will be shown on the top-leftmost box of Odin.
Disconnect your phone from your PC once you see the Samsung logo.

How to Root Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 on Value PACK XXJVU 2.3.6 Firmware

we saw on how one can easily update their Galaxy S GT I9000 phones with the latest value pack released by Samsung and today in this we will check out on how to root the same. So, before you proceed you need to check whether you are on XXJVU Firmware or not which you can check from the path Settings > About Phone > Firmware Version. Once you confirm the same, you need to proceed to the procedure which is mentioned below. Once you root this firmware, we will see on how one can install the latest version of Ice Cream Sandwich over the next few coming days.

Recommendation: So as to avoid from the data loss / data corruption or say FORCE Close errors, you need to Root the device just after updating the firmware.

Rooting voids the warranty, though it can be reclaimed by updating with the default factory firmware on unlocked phones which doesn’t come with the boot loader lock. So, let’s head to the procedure to root Galaxy S on XXJVU Firmware in the procedure below.

Procedure to Root Samsung Galaxy S on XXJVU Firmware:

Download XXJVU Rooting package from here in your computer. Extract the same preferably to the desktop, in the process of extraction you will be prompted to enter the password. Enter the password as “androidadvices.com”.

Once the files are extracted, you need to Open ODIN in your computer and turn off the phone so as to enter it in Download Mode.

The download mode can be entered by pressing down on Volume Down Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. You can also refer to the video below to know more on how you can enter into the download mode for more convenience.

Once download mode is entered, connect the phone to the computer using the USB cable and then in the Odin you will see that the ID : COM section will turn yellow which will mean that all the drivers have been successfully updated and you are now ready to proceed to the next step.

In Odin, click on “PDA” and choose the file “CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVU_2.3.6-v4.3-CWM3RFS” from the extracted files. After selecting and checking the same, click on “Start” to start the rooting process.

It will take around 4 minutes for the rooting process to be completed. It may sometimes take less time too. As soon as the rooting process is done, the device will be rebooted. To find out whether the device has been successfully rooted or not, you will have to find two additional applications which are “CWM” and the “Super User” which will mean that the phone has been successfully rooted.
Turn OFF the phone so as to restart in the recovery mode. The recovery mode can be entered by pressing Volume UP on Volume Down Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. You can refer the below mentioned video on how you can enter into the recovery mode.

In the recovery mode, select Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition and then reboot your device by selecting reboot system now option. Please note that you will have to ensure that you don’t select any other options or else there is a high probability that you may erase all the data which is even stored in the Internal / External SD card.

If you face any issues in the process of rooting this firmware then you need to re insert the battery and then again follow the procedure again.

Note: If you're in Linux, you only need to do Step 4, Step 6, and Step 7.

Step 0.
Download and install HTC Sync: http://www.htc.com/us/support/aria-att/downloads/

Step 1.
Download and unzip the Android SDK: http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html

Step 2.
Go into the folder where you unzipped the Android SDK and open "SDK Setup.exe".
If you aren't greeted with a failed to fetch URL error, proceed to Step 3. If you did receive this error, go to Settings in the "Choose Packages to Install" window and check "Force https;//... sources to be fetched using http://..."
Close and re-open "SDK Setup.exe".

Step 3.
When the "Choose Packages to Install" window pops up, make sure the package "Usb Driver package, revision x" is checked. You can uncheck everything else. Click Install. After it downloads and installs, close "Android SDK and AVD Manager".

Step 4.
With your device unplugged from your computer, go to Settings > Application > Development on your device and turn on USB Debugging.

Step 5.
Now plug your device in to your computer. This is just to make sure the USB drivers are installed.
Once they are installed, unplug your device and turn it off.

Step 6.
This step is optional, but it may prevent an error later on in the process. If you've never formatted your SD card from a computer, remove it from the phone and format it in Windows or OSX with an external card reader. Then place the formatted card back in your phone, but leave the phone off.

Step 7.

Now let's get started...

Step 0.
Unzip Root.zip

Step 1.
Place the contents ("update.zip", "ota.zip", and "loop") into the Android SDK tools folder.

Step 2.
Open Command Prompt or Terminal and CD to the SDK tools directory.

Step 3.
Power on your device into the bootloader by holding the "Volume Down" key and simultaneously pressing Power.
Once you're in the bootloader, wait about 30 seconds until some diagnostic checking is done.
Press "Volume Down" to highlight Recovery, but do not push Power to execute just yet.

Step 4.
Now run your loop file from the prompt (either type "loop" in Windows or "./loop.sh" in Linux) (refer to ice3186's post for Mac instructions)
Note: The loop does nothing but show you the connection status of your phone. It's not technically required, but we'll use it in this guide.

Step 5.
Once the loop is running in your prompt, get ready to connect the phone to the computer with the USB cable, but don't connect one end quite yet. With Recovery still highlighted on your phone, you will need to push the Power button and then immediately plug in the other end of the USB cord.

Step 6.
After a few seconds, you should see your device listed in the loop.

Step 7.
Unplug the USB cable from the bottom of your phone and plug it back in. You probably don't need to do this, but let's be safe. Wait for your device to show up in the loop again. Hit CTRL-C to terminate the loop.

Step 8.
You should see a triangle/exclaimation over a phone graphic.
Hold the "Volume Up" key (note it's Volume UP this time) and simultaneously press Power.
After the menu comes up, use the volume and power buttons to select and run update.zip. (This will fail, but we already know that! Select it anyway.)

Step 9.
Paste the following command into your prompt and press Enter.
adb push ota.zip /sdcard/update.zip (*OSX users add a ./ in front of all terminal commands please)

Step 10.
This is very important!! Have this next command ready in your prompt before running update.zip again!!
This is the command. Paste it into your prompt, but DO NOT press Enter yet.
adb push update.zip /sdcard

Step 11.
Run update.zip and as soon as you see a faint progress bar appear behind the text at the bottom of the screen, push Enter to execute the command in your prompt.

Step 12.
If successful, you should see Clockwork Recovery and you now have Su and Superuser.apk installed! You can now reboot your phone into the OS to verify. If unsuccessful, repeat steps 11 and 12.

Step 13.
This step is optional, but it will save you the pain of going through all of these steps again in the future.

Using the following guide we will gain S-OFF, install a custom recovery (ClockworkMod), and get Superuser access (Sexy); through use ofRevolutionary.
The utility it was created by AlphaRev and unrevoked, all credit goes to them.

Please realize that there are risks involved. Anything that happens to your phone, which includes but is not limited to; Bird Flu, Smallpox, and Anthrax exposure, is in no way anyone on this site's responsibility, proceed with caution.

Also: I did all of this on a Windows machine, any Linux/Mac-dependent situations that I've missed feel free to fill in.

Files needed

Before starting the process download these files:

Note: Windows Users must download and install HTC Fastboot Drivers beforehand. [HERE]

Download Superuser zip and put it on the root of your SD Card (or in a folder if so so prefer, just remember where) [DOWNLOAD HERE]

Download Revolutionary for your selected OS [HERE]
Note: Leave the page open as we will need it while running Revolutionary.

Rooting Process
==============================

1. Extract and Run Revolutionary
Revolutionary will start and say "Waiting for device..."
Enable USB Debugging ( Settings > Applications > USB Development )
Disable Fastboot ( Settings > Power )
Plug in your Incredible 2

2. Serial Number and Beta Key
Revolutionary will give you your device's Serial number, on the page you downloaded Revolutionary there should now be a blue box, below the download links.
Select your OS, Device, HBOOT Version, and then input the Serial number and proceed.
You will be given a Beta Key you need to input in Revolutionary and then proceed.

3. Wait
Revolutionary should boot your phone into HBOOT a couple times.
After some time it should now read "-Revolutionary-" at the top of your HBOOT screen.
Revolutionary should ask you whether you'd like to flash ClockworkMod (You do).

*****If ClockworkMod fails to download or flash you can do it manually [GUIDE]*****

4. Install Superuser and Reboot
After Revolutionary is done talking about Lemons and Lemonade you can scroll down (Volume) on the HBOOT screen to "Recovery" and select it (Power).
This should boot you into ClockworkMod
Scroll down and select to "install zip from sdcard">"choose zip from sdcard" then select the "su-2.3.6..." zip file.
After it's all done back out of the menus and reboot.
Check in your app draw for the "superuser" app to ensure you are rooted.

Congrats, you should now be rooted!

Finding ways to root the HTC Droid Incredible has been a long, hard road but it seems that all great journeys do get happy endings. Thanks to Team unrEVOked, a tool now exists to make the previously painful rooting process fast and painless. The tool, called unrevoked³, has been released for Windows, Mac, and Linux. On top of rooting your HTC Droid Incredible, it also installs ClockworkMod Recovery, so you no longer need to wait to jump on flashing ROMs. This also permanently unlocks the NAND flash on your phone.

Windows users may find their version of the method slightly longer than that of Mac and Linux users, requiring Windows users to install HBoot drivers and to disable HTC Sync, but have no fear. Our guide will walk you through the process. For Mac and Linux users, you can skip ahead to the section on rooting your HTC Droid Incredible using unrevoked³.

Caution

The method described in this guide is compatible with the HTC Droid Incredible only. If your phone is not an HTC Droid Incredible, please do not attempt this rooting method as it may lead to bricking.

Use these instructions at your own risk. We shall not be responsible for whatever happens to your phone as a result of your use of these instructions.

Requirements

HTC Droid Incredible
Make sure that USB Debugging has been enabled on your phone. You can do this through Settings > Applications > Development and make sure to click the USB Debugging box.
Download unrEVOked³ from the unrEVOked website. Choose the right package for your computer’s OS.
Download the latest unrEVOked forever package (unrevoked-forever.zip, 220 kB). Rename the file to update.zip after downloading.

Installing HBoot Drivers (Windows Only)

This step is only for Windows users. Linux and Mac users can skip this.

Download the modified USB driver from here (android-usb-driver.zip, 6.1 MB) to your computer.
Extract the downloaded ZIP file’s contents into a folder on your computer.
Turn off your phone completely.
Boot it into HBOOT by pressing and holding down the Volume Down rocker and the Power key.
On your phone, you should select HBOOT USB on the menu.
Wait until the screen flashes through an “SD Checking” message before pressing anything. Otherwise your phone will ignore any further keypresses.
Connect your phone to your Windows computer with a USB Cable.
Wait for the phone to say HBOOT USB PLUG on the screen.
Open Device Manager on your computer:
1. Click the Start button in Windows.
2. Right-click on Computer and then click on Properties.
3. Click Device Manager.
Under “Other Devices” in Device Manger, you should see “Android 1.0″ listed.
Right-click on “Android 1.0.”
Click Update Driver Software.
Select the option to locate and install driver software manually. Then, select the folder where you extracted the Android USB driver to. If you get any warnings, just dismiss them.
After the driver has installed, you can close the Update Driver Software window.
In Device Manager, you should see a new device called “Android Phone”, under which is listed “Android Bootloader Interface.”
Proceed to the next section about rooting.

Rooting your HTC Droid Incredible with unrevoked³

If you’re on Windows, make sure that you uninstall HTC Sync or any other program that might talk to the phone over USB (such as DoubleTwist, etc.) as these will cause problems.
Connect your HTC Droid Incredible to your computer via USB cable.
Drag the notification bar down on your HTC Droid Incredible.
Select “Charge Only” and select “Remember This.”
Run the unrevoked³ program (usually called reflash or reflash.exe) on your computer. (You may need to extract the executable file first, depending on what OS you’re using on your computer.)
The tool will run its process and provide you with instructions. Follow the instructions.
Copy update.zip to the /sdcard directory on your phone.
Remove the phone’s battery.
While holding down the Volume Down key on your phone, reinsert the battery.
Use the Volume keys to highlight “RECOVERY” on the menu. Press the Power button to select it. Your phone will go into recovery mode.
On the recovery menu, select Apply sdcard:update.zip and confirm that you want to flash the update.

Congratulations! Your HTC Droid Incredible now has root access, an unlocked bootloader, S-OFF, and ClockworkMod Recovery. If Titanium Backup claims that you are not rooted, you can download Busybox from the Google Play Store to fix this.

USB drivers for the HTC One V
- You can get the drivers by installing HTC Sync. Make sure to close HTC Sync before rooting your phone.
WinRAR, 7-Zip or other similar file extraction programs installed on your computer.
Download the following files:
- r1-primo-superboot.zip (md5sum: 33fb1e45aff5259e67ed3c0bab7aafbf)
- boot.superboot.img (4.01 MB)
Disable system tools such as HTC Sync, firewall programs, and anti-virus software.
Charge your phone’s battery to 60% or more.
Backup all personal data on your phone to make sure you have a copy of your personal data (e.g., contacts, SMS, MMS, Internet settings, Wi-Fi passwords, and the like) in case the procedure in this guide erases such data.

Instructions

Download the r1-primo-superboot.zip and extract it to a folder on your computer.
Download the boot.superboot.img and place it in the folder where you extracted r1-primo-superboot.zip. This will replace the boot.superboot.img that came with r1-primo-superboot.zip.
Switch off your HTC One V.
Reboot your HTC One V into Bootloader Mode by pressing the Volume Down key and Power button simultaneously until Bootloader Mode boots.
Select Fastboot from the Bootloader Menu.
Connect your HTC One V to the computer via USB cable. The Bootloader screen should say “FASTBOOT USB.”
Go to the r1-primo-superboot folder and double-click the install-superboot-window.batfile. This will automatically start the rooting process.
Once the rooting process is complete, your HTC One V will automatically reboot.
After complete boot, go to the app drawer. Tap the SuperSU icon and update the SU binary to the latest version.

Congratulations! You have successfully rooted your HTC One V. You can now install apps requiring root access on your mobile phone.

If you’re in ownership of an HTC One S, you’ll probably be pleased to learn that it’s been rooted courtesy of – as usual – XDA developers, or, more specifically, forum member paulobrien.

We’ve got all the details in a step by step below. Please make sure you read every step carefully in order to prevent any mishaps.

DISCLAIMER: Proceed with caution and at your own risk. Redmond Pie is not to be held responsible for any loss of data as a result of you following this tutorial.

Step 1: Download the Superboot .zip file and extract the files therein [Download link over at XDA, with link at the end of the post].

Step 2: Next, you’ll need to ensure your device is in bootloader mode by turning off the phone first, and then powering with the ‘volume down‘ button pressed.

Step 3: Extract the contents of the ‘r3-ville-superboot.zip‘ downloaded in Step 1, and save the folder in a recognized location.

Step 4: Connect your device to your computer via USB cable.

(Mac users, skip to Step 6, Linux users, jump ahead to Step 7).

Step 5: Locate the folder containing the extracted files. Double click on the ‘install-superboot-windows.bat‘ file [WINDOWS ONLY].

Step 6: Run the Terminal app on your Mac, making sure that it points to the directory that containing the extracted files. Then, type in the following command:

chmod +x install-superboot-mac.sh ./install-superboot-mac.sh

Step 7: Run the Terminal application on your Linux-powered computer, and again, ensure it is it pointing to the directory containing the extracted files. Type in the following command:

chmod +x install-superboot-linux.sh ./install-superboot-linux.sh

And that – as they say – is that. If you followed the steps religiously, you should now have root access to your HTC One S, with all the freedom and possibilities having a rooted device brings with it!

How to root WITH downgrading

How to root WITH downgrading

1) Download the Downgrade Zip (2.11.605.5 RUU) >> HERE <<

md5 sum -C5FDA16925A974BBD6CD7007B2CF28F0

2) Place phone in disk drive mode

3) Place zip file on your sd card and rename to PG05IMG ( pee - gee - zero - five - eye - em - gee )

4) It must remain a zip, some people have file extensions hidden while others do not, good rule of thumb is.. when renaming a file, Windows by default does not highlight the extension if it's there, so just type PG05IMG to rename it.

5) Once done with that, unplug the phone and pull the battery

6) Re-insert the battery and replace the cover

7) Hold VOLUME DOWN + POWER firmly until you see HBOOT "white screen"

8) You will see some scanning taking place in the top right corner, this vertical scroll bar will both scan the file for integrity and check the signature of the file. (takes about 2 min)

9) When its done it will ask you to PRESS VOL UP TO UPDATE

10) Press volume up at that time. (UP NOT DOWN!!)

11) It will take approximately 4 minutes to complete the downgrade

12) When it's done.. it will say PRESS POWER TO REBOOT

13) Press power at that time

14) Phone reboots completely wiped and back on 2.11.605.5

15) REMOVE/RENAME THE PG05IMG.zip FROM YOUR SD! IF YOU DON'T, YOU WILL HAVE ISSUES.

16) Now you can S-OFF using the traditional Revolutionary method in Post #1.

The minor OTA to firmware number 2.11.605.9 patches the exploit used by Revolutionary.
So, before you can use the Revolutionary Toolkit below... you must either do option #1 or option #2 before using Revolutionary.

There are 2 options:
#1 Achieve temp root via another means, then run Revolutionary. (Info in Post #2)
OR
#2 Several users have reported being able to downgrade to 2.11.605.5 simply by running an RUU for that firmware, despite an s-on hboot wich would normally prevent you from going backwards in version numbers. (Info in Post #3)

Feel free to do whichever is most comfortable

Revolutionary
A new method has just become available that does not wipe your data. This is 100% the best and most recommended way to root your Thunderbolt at this time.

WARNING: GAINING S-OFF ACCESS ON THE HTC THUNDERBOLT WILL VOID THE WARRANTY.
As with any ROM or modification the usual disclaimer applies.... You are using this at your own risk!

This is, LITERALLY, less than a 5 minute process, assuming you have all the files/preliminary stuff done first. Having to do "all" the preliminary should take you another couple minutes, at most... This is THAT simple!

Information you need to have first:

1) Serial number of your cell phone
2) HBOOT version number
3) HTC FastBoot drivers
4) Super User file: superuser 3.07.zip
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

5) Uninstall HTC Sync drivers (or any other auto-sync programs you may have on your computer; you may just need to turn them "off"; I don't know.)

6) Set phone to USB Debugging on, and Always awake

To get into HBOOT, turn your phone off. Then press the volume down button along with the power button. Press and hold, and within 5 seconds it'll come on. This method supports versions 1.04.0000 and 1.05.0000.

Step-by-step Revolutionary rooting instructions:

Step 1) Install HTC FastBoot driver

Step 2) Go to REVOLUTIONARY and follow the instructions to download the file revolutionary-0.4pre3.zip. It will require you to know your cell phone's serial number, and what version of HBOOT you have.

Step 3) Plug your phone in, select "usb storage", and copy the Super User file to the SDCard somewhere (easiest if you don't put it into a folder on your SD card.) Don't unzip it.

Step 4) Plug in your phone, and when the prompt comes up, set to "Charge Only". Disregard any notices and don't install any additional drivers or whatnot.

Step 5) Unzip the Revolutionary zip file into a folder somewhere you can find it.

Step 6) Run the file "revolutionary.exe".

Step 7) Follow the prompts on the screen. It's pretty straightforward. It will reboot to HBOOT a couple times, the last time you'll see it at the top saying "S-Off".

Step 8) It asks you if you want to install clockwork recovery. Select "Y". You'll need this...

You now have a permanent custom recovery on your phone.

Now to actually Root it:

Step 9) From the HBOOT, scroll down to "Bootloader" using the volume keys, and select using the power button. Then scroll/select "Recovery" Yes, it seems sluggish...that's fine. Don't be impatient; it'll let you scroll at some point...

Step 10) Wait! You'll see the HTC spash screen for a bit, and then eventually you'll be into Clockwork Recovery

Step 11) Scroll to "install zip from sdcard" and select.

Step 12) Scroll to "choose zip from sdcard"

Step 13) Find the super user file (superuser-3.zip) (it'll be at the bottom of the directory list if you put it in the base directory of the sd card) and select it.

Step 14) Sit back and watch the quick show... If all goes well, it will install and show you when it's finished.

Step 15) Reboot the phone (keep selecting "back" until you have the option to reboot the phone)

If you are getting Force Closes from Superuser after you are finished, please reboot into Clockwork Recovery and FIX PERMISSIONS.

YOU'RE NOW ROOTED!!! On a STOCK ROM! No loss of data. No re-setup. Nothing...

How to root WITHOUT downgrading

How to Root WITHOUT Downgrading

1) Download miniadb_tbolt2.zip from here: mini-adb_tbolt2.zip

2) Set up adb:
-Extract miniadb_tbolt2.zip and place the unzipped folder onto the root of your C\ drive on your PC
-Open a command window. Windows 7, click on start bubble, type "command" in the search box. A small black window should open up.

3) Download DHD Downgrade folder

4) Open the DHDDowngrade.zip file, then the folder contained inside of it. Transfer "Fre3vo" into the tbolt2 folder with adb/fastboot. (ignore the rest of the files in DHDDongrade, fre3vo is the only one you need)

5) In your command window: change to the tbolt2 directory by typing:
cd c:\mini-adb_tbolt2 (your promt should change to c:\mini-adb_tbolt2>)
*note that in the next few steps,anything in bold type is an adb command. you can directly copy from this window,and paste into your command window to eliminate typos.

6) Enable usb debugging, plug in your phone via usb. Select "charge only" mode.

7) Make sure adb is seeing your phone:
adb devices (should return your serial number)

8) Enter the commands from your link,one at a time,hit enter after each:

adb push fre3vo /data/local/tmp

adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/fre3vo

adb shell /data/local/tmp/fre3vo -debug -start F0000000 -end FFFFFFFF

9) Make sure it worked. when you see "exploiting device" then your command prompt again:
adb shell (if your prompt changes to a # youre good to go)

10) Run Revolutionary again. This time it will work really fast. You can have it install clockwork if you wish to use that recovery.

11) Flash the superuser 3.07 files linked on Revolutionary's info page

The revolutionary method of rooting uses a sneaky hboot exploit and replaces your stock 1.04.0000 or 1.05.0000 bootloader with a modified permanent hboot. It not only gives you all the same fastboot flash abilities as the original engineering bootloader, but it very effectively blocks other hboots from overwriting it. It's good... as you will remain s-off if you accidentally flash a full RUU, or accept an OTA... but makes it a little trickier to remove.

For the time being, removal requires ADB to be set up and running and some commands entered in "fastboot" to to allow the permanent hboot to be overwritten. Once an "s-on" tool is released... I'll take this part of the guide down.

If you've rooted using the old manual way and have adb setup and working, you can use this guide to remove the permanent hboot.

*WARNING* no signature or file checks will be done flashing the new bootloader in hboot or fastboot. fastboot will literally flash "lets golf" as a bootloader if you tell it to. DO NOT mess with your hboot unless absolutely necessary to return to stock for warranty purposes. If you're just tired of being rooted, flash the mr2 ruu to get back to unrooted firmware and factory recovery. Leaving the revolutionary s-off bootloader in place is the safest and best option... andwill not affect your ability to receive OTAs.

*AGAIN- if you're just following this procedure because you're tired of being rooted... skip this next section and leave the permanent hboot in place. Jump to "Putting current stock firmware and s-on back onto the phone" and flash only the first "PG05IMG_1.70.605.0_nohboot.zip" file (you can flash the 2nd file too if you want,but the permanent hboot will block it)

Setting up adb and removing the permanent hboot if you've never used adb before
1) If you no longer have the htc drivers that you installed when rooting with revolutionary... download them again from here on revolutionarys website.
2) Next download this file to somewhere convenient that you'll be able to find it... like your desktop or a "downloads" folder. It contains the old eng 1.40.2000 s-off hboot and the bare minimum tools to install it.
3) The following directions were used using windows 7 and chrome browser. Other OS's may be slightly different... the end result is you want unzipped, inside tbolt folder to be on the root of your C: drive.
-Find the tbolt.zip download
-Click on tbolt.zip download and open it.
-Inside tbolt.zip..there is a folder labeled tbolt. Drag it to the root of C:. inside tbolt is the unpermanent hboot and some adb tools.
4) Charge your Thunderbolt to 100%
5) Click on the "start" bubble in the lower left corner of your screen. Type "command" in the search window and hit enter. This will open a small black command window.
6) Enter the following command (by typing or copy/paste):

You should see your prompt in the window change to: c:\tbolt>

7) Enter the following command:

md5sums hbooteng.nb0

Check the output on the command window. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. The command must equal exactly 6991368ee2deaf182048a3ed9d3c0fcb if it does not... STOP!! Delete the tbolt.zip download and the unzipped tbolt folder from C:, re-download and try it again. Again... do not proceed if the output in your command number does not equal it exactly.

8) Once the number matches... you can continue. Copy and paste the following codes into the command window:

The output should be your phones serial number.

Now enter:

adb reboot bootloader

This will cause your phone to boot into FASTBOOT mode, which is a white screen with colored letters.

Now enter:

fastboot devices

The result again should be your phones serial number.

9) Now you're ready to enter the command to unlock the permanent hboot and flash the new... non permanent one.
To unlock,enter:

fastboot oem mw 8d08ac54 1 31302E30

Write the new hboot:

fastboot flash hboot hbooteng.nb0

If you select bootloader at this point from the fastboot menu.. you'll still see the permanent s-off hboot... so select reboot with the volume rocker and power button and let the phone reboot. After it boots, you can adb reboot bootloader again or power off... Then power on/vol down and check that your pink "UNLOCKED" or "REVOLUTIONARY" is gone and you have the old 1.49.2000 bootloader.

Putting current stock firmware and s-on back onto the phone

After getting the bootloader back to the original s-off, engineering 1.04.2000 hboot download these 2 files:
1)PG05IMG_no_hboot_2.11.605.9.zip
md5: 3e189b6c85ea7da1e26e12a5cd7b1ab0
and
2) PG05IMG_hboot_only_2.11.605.9.zip
md5: d26b3253358407d459c654e6729a39ca

Rename PG05IMG_no_hboot_2.11.605.9.zip to "PG05IMG"... move to your sd card and flash in hboot.

This is important! you must flash the PG05IMG_no_hboot_2.11.605.9.zip first!

after successfully flashing that,you will be on unrooted gingerbread with an eng s-off bootloader. delete the PG05IMG file from your sd card. now place the PG05IMG_hboot_ONLY_2.11.605.9.zip on your sd card. check the md5. once youve verified it matches,you can rename PG05IMG and flash it.

Again, ONLY flash the hboot file after you have successfully flashed the rom.

Now you are 100% stock on latest firmware. unrooted gingerbread 2.11.605.9 with *locked* 1.05.0000 s-on bootloader.

DISCLAIMER: Redmond Pie is not to be held responsible for any loss of data as a result of the malfunctioning of your HTC Amaze 4G in the following of this guide. Follow at your own risk.

Note: This root will be permanent or temporary based on the state of your bootloader. If it is locked, the root will be temporary and you will have to re-root every time you restart your device. Step 1: Install HTC Drivers on your computer so that One Click Perm Root can detect your HTC Amaze 4G properly.

Step 2: Connect your device to your computer through USB.

Step 3: Enable USB Debugging on your HTC Amaze 4G from Settings > Applications > Development.

Step 4: Extract Zerg_Root_OneClick.zip (which you downloaded before Step 1) to C:\ and launch ZergRushTempRoot.bat

Step 5: Your HTC Amaze 4G will now be rooted. The process will take up to 3 minutes.

*** unlocking bootloader from HTCDEV site is highly recommended for a permanent root solution***
1. enable usb debugging from settings - applications - development
2. plug phone to pc via usb cable - charge only
3. open extracted zip folder and click runme. thats all. (if experience any daemon hanging problems pls install htc sync and plug in phone so drivers are installed. once done delete htc sync and repeat root procedure)
PC will open a cmd screen with prompts that you need to follow. app does rest
4. After root is complete pls visit market and update SU app. once done root will be fully functional and eliminate any future FCs
5. Also as an extra tip you can install SU UPDATE fixer from market to update your binaries to 3.0

Added V4 of the Doomlord Exploit as may be why XL was rooted without bootloader being unlocked.
well i relocked my bootloader and flashed ruu 1.05.404 then I used Doolord V4 to root my phone. This was succesful in permanently rooting my phone without unlocking my bootloader. This was not possible with V2 so if anyone wants to root without unlocking bootloader this is now possible using V4 of the Doomlord Exploit attached below. PLEASE NOTE THAT STILL NEED TO UNLOCK BOOTLOADER TO FLASH CUSTOM ROMS AND RECOVERY

Download Superuser-3.0.7-d-signed.zip.
Connect your phone to the computer via USB cable and copy the downloaded zip file to the root of your SD card.
Boot into ClockworkMod recovery mode and go to install zip from SD card > choose zip from SD card.
Select the zip file that you copied to your SD card.
Confirm it in the next screen and flash it.

You have successfully rooted your Sensation XE. Sometimes the flashing might not root your phone at once so you may need to repeat it 2-3 times.

How to Root HTC Sensation 4G

If you are using HTC Sensation 4G and want to Root your phone, have fun installing custom ROMS and tweaking your phone the way you want to, this is a simple step by step guide to gain root access to your android HTC Sensation 4G phone.

Rooting HTC Sensation 4G has three main steps which followed properly will ensure you have a rooted phone and you wont be cursing yourself for venturing into the android root world. Steps involved are:

1. S-Off your HTC Sensation
2. Install Recovery
3. Root your HTC Sensation

Before we get started, a couple of things that you need to make sure. The computer that you will be using to perform the root should either be running Windows or Linux, secondly your Sensation needs to be fully charged. Now lets begin with the rooting.

1. S-Off your HTC Sensation:
1. First of all, get the Hboot version for your HTC Sensation.

For that, with your phone turned ON, go to Settings > Power > Fast Reboot and uncheck fast reboot. Alternatively, you can turn off your phone, take out the battery and insert it again. That’s just to make sure your phone isn’t hibernating. Once done, hold the Volume Down button and press Power button, your phone will enter Bootloader/HBOOT. On the screen you will be able to read what your HBOOT version is.

2. Visit http://revolutionary.io/ and from there download the the application for your operating system. Disable your antivirus or add the application to exception list as some antiviruses detect. Extract all files to folder.

3. Get the serial number of your phone. For that either go to Settings > About Phone > Phone Identity.

4. When you click on download, a small form will open up. Fill it out with your PC operating system, Phone model, HBOOT version and Serial Number. It will generate the beta key so write that down or copy it.

5. On your pc, make sure you exit HTC sync. Now switch on your phone (normal home screen) and attach it to your pc and select HTC Sync mode when it asks for USB Connection type. Ignore any warnings on your phones screen that HTC sync not found.

6. Run the Revolutionary application you downloaded. It should detect your phone *Found your Device: HTC Sensation Z710*.

7. It will ask for the beta key you generated on the website, enter it. Make sure you type it correctly as its case sensitive or just copy paste to avoid mistakes.

8. Follow the on screen prompts and wait till your phone is S-Off.

9. Revolutionary will ask you to install Clockwork Recovery now, enter N .

10. Your device is now S-Off.

2. Install Clockwork Recovery:

1. Download recovery v5.0.0.8 for the Sensation from here.

2. Attach your phone in data storage mode to your pc and copy the file PG58IMG to your SD cards root folder.

3. Reboot your phone into bootloader/HBOOT screen.

4. On the screen it will ask *Do you want to start the update*.Press volume up for yes and volume down for no.Press volume up.

5. It will start the update and once done , reboot your phone to normal home screen.

6. Open your SD card and delete the PG58IMG file you copied earlier.

7. Cloclwork Recovery is installed on your phone and you can use it to root your phone.

3. Root your HTC Sensation :

1. Download the file su-2.3.6.3-ef-signed.zip from here.

2. Connect your phone to pc in USB data mode, copy the downloaded file in the root folder of your SD card.

3. Reboot your phone in Bootloader mode, from there navigate to Recovery using volume up and volume down and using power button to select.

4. You will enter Clockwork Recovery.

5. Create a Backup by entering Backup and Restore menu.

6. Select *install from zip* and select the -2.3.6.3-ef-signed.zip file.

7. Choose *Yes – install su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip *.

8. Once done, go back and select Reboot.

9. Your phone is now rooted.

Using the above mentioned method will insure you have a permanently rooted HTC Sensation with S-Off and Clockwork Recovery. If you want to flash custom ROMS, just copy paste the rom zip in your SD Card, create backup of existing rom using clockwork and flash the new custom rom.
