Put it on the Barbie

I'm just going to split this day into two, but on Sunday after I went to church. I took a train then a bus to meet up with the crowd at Pyrmont Park for a BBQ. With a few snags on the barbie, everyone seemed to adjusted themselves into a very chill atmosphere. It was quite pleasant to catch up with the Hurlstoners I hadn't seen in a while. Those being Dan and Bui.

That Girl's 18th

Lana probably wouldn't like to be called "That Girl" but she was that girl at her own party 2 days ago. She had turned 18 the week before, and with one of her sisters and her mother out of the country. The house was hers and so she threw a pretty wicked 18th Birthday Party. There was also a dress up theme for her party. Since she had successfully gotten into her first preference and she was destined to become rich. The theme was somewhat "International" and "Places you'd love to travel to". I helped decorate whilst the birthday girl was getting ready.

As guests started arriving in their costumes, we soon had costumes representing countries around the globe, France, Egypt, America, Pacific Islands, Asia etc. We started off with eating the food provided, and everyone just started socialising for a bit. A book was out for everyone to write a message for Lana. I dressed up as Da Vinci's Mona Lisa.

Somehow from downstairs, we progressed upstairs in the hallways. And then into the bathroom where we had many photos taken in the bathtub, which some may think would be uncomfortable but in reality was quite comfortable.

At some point, we were called down because the Birthday Girl was ready, we took our group photos, took the polaroids, cut the cake, danced before grouping up for some talking chill sesh. Before everyone went home.

Double Digits for him

It was my youngest brother's birthday yesterday, he finally achieved the double digits. Which is kinda cute for me, cause I remember I made a big deal of it when I was turning 10. My mum prepared a lot of food as we were expecting some of my cousins to sleep over, so a lot was required. A buffet was prepared and we had 3 birthday cakes to get through.

The Year of the Dragon

I guess, one aspect of my culture I enjoy is celebrating New Year weeks after the rest of the world with different foods and traditions. So its officially the year of the Dragon. I celebrated it with my mother's side of the family on Sunday. We ate, some gambled and we received our red pockets. Maria and I have a tendency to enjoy taking ridiculous photos sometimes. When she takes the camera, the amount of unattractive photos of me increase at a mortifying rate (for myself).

"I recently made myself some new Photoshop brushes (was making a logo for the next TNTT Sa Mac), and I wanted to try them out somehow. I made a little Comic. University offers were just sent home, and I gave the idea a romantic twist.

I haven't done any digi-painting since probably a few years back. I don't think I'm very good at painting figures, and I really hate the anatomy. I am really satisfied with all the skies.

The character was actually supposed to be myself, because I'm in love with this jacket, as featured in the comic.

To defeat, the Huns. HY-UAHHHH. My post are only 2 days from when they happened. On the 17th I went out with Mel, my UTS, Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Tumblr buddy! Soulmates, I know. We had goals to be cultural for the day and high-end. We set off from Liverpool, and I don't know about anyone else. I've been waiting for trackwork to end... And it seems like its been over a month since I've travelled on a train without having to catch a bus before or afterhand. First on the agenda was for a delightful few hours at the tea room for some afternoon tea. We actually spent almost 2 hours, eating and talking.

After we had our fill, that we couldn't even finish the passionfruit slice and the pistachio macaron we decided to roam around QVB for a bit. Somehow spent a lot of time at Hobby Co. and ABC shop looking at our fandom merchandise. Including Doctor Who, Assassin's Creed, Star Wars .... but mostly Doctor Who.

After we had done enough "Fangirling" over our fandoms, and I had overused the "EXTERMINATE EXTERMINATE" and the Tardis Breathing sound on the "sounds in your pocket" devices. Mel and I walked through the CBD, Pitt St, Hyde Park until we were at the Art Gallery of NSW. We bought concession tickets and stayed overtime of our session to look at the Picasso exhibit. It's was amazing how the curators organised the exhibition, as it was divided in 10 rooms with themes and as you made your way through, you got to see how his style evolved and how he experimented. Intense.

After the exhibition we walked out and I got distracted by this beautiful gate, and thats when we both knew that neither of us had ever explored within it. It was an exciting thrill. A part of the city, I had not been to, or seen. It was a gorgeous garden, and we attempted to walk towards the Palace Garden to see the Rose Garden. It smelt beautiful, I had forgotten that we were even in the city. New favourite place, sorry Hyde Park you have been replaced.

And here comes a spam of gifs that Mel and I made while we explored the park. It really was gorgeous. Yeah we attempted the same move for four gifs, we like tea.

My posts are finally more up to date to when they happened, since I haven't had time to bring my camera to a few events. Thinking that when an event only features 2 people shopping, photos are not required and documentation isn't really necessary. Basically, I've been out shopping... a lot. And I feel incredibly guilty when I look at my bank account contents. However, when I turn to my wardrobe of many items that I bought at incredibly low prices (aka. THE JACKET). Anywho, two days ago we went Karaoke because we could.

After our two hour session of Singing and Rapping we parted with Zul, Danny and Hewie and went to Pepper Lunch. ITs really great having food after a long wait.

Hey, do you remember my obsession with visiting that playground... well I still haven't gotten over that, and that playground is amazing! But at night, with the rain. It became quite dangerous.

Before we all went home, we all had a bit of a craving for icecream. And we walked about finding a Maccas that still had them. Somehow we ended up at Pitt St after travelling from Darling to find it.

Miscellaneous Update Part 2

I was really going to make one update, but then I didn't realise the photos would make them so long. So I had to split it. So continuing on, sometimes we would end up at someone's house to play twister or just to chill for no apparent reason because we were so cool like that. Also on one occasion I became a superstar since I got auto-tuned and now... I know the entire lyrics to Justin Bieber's Mistletoe. Yes, why. I don't know.

And on one occasion, we rocked up to the city because of some lowsy deal we made. HAHA Nonetheless it was quite a day. Handy Tip: Never make deals with Michael Bui, ever, even if its incredibly tempting.

There has been many other days, but on our last days here is some spammage of photos. I just really got lazy. I'm so sorry Lucy, I know today is definitely not as miraculous. But if you guys haven't caught the hint yet, Bien is a heavy sleeper and seriously, everytime we draw on his face.

Miscellaneous Update Part 1

Has anyone other than me noticed the dramatic change in how I blog? The way I arrange my photos, and the format? Maybe, I'm just more aware of this as I had to deal with this stuff up that occured with my Blogger account. This caused me to rely heavily on my html'ing skills and only ever using the "preview" button to check that photos were the right size and in correct position. Now that the error has been fixed I can't help but write everything in code, with "div align="justify"" and end slashes as well as "img src="link" width="500"" etc.

Anywho, I realised that my January has slowed down in comparison to my November and December where I had posts every two days. Well now I can finally post about the miscellaneous things that occured then that were overshadowed by bigger events. So basically, I've mentioned "a few" times that I was studying for a test. Well here are some photos and gifs I've collected in that time as well as my sudden obsession for large stuffed toys. Toy R Us, the most visited store during the whole week.

Yes, so I did visit many places a lot on consecutive days. When it was just Anne and I, I guess we weren't very productive cause we spent a lot of time at Big-W as well.

The Chill Session

The 4th of January was the day all of the Universities had opened up to give all prospective students information before their preferences were set in stone. However, I had no intention to visit another university other than UTS, so I guess that was my only reason to visit there. Though I didn't really take many photos of that. But afterwards a lot of people headed to Vineet's for a "chill sesh". Yeah... just photos, somewhat lazy.

Family Beach Trip

With my screwed up body clock, when I was taken there, I spent the daytime sleeping. So I don't really have many photos of the day. Eventually when the sun set, and my body felt like being awake I spent my time sitting on a rock taking photos of the sky. I'm such a peaceful sounding person, don't I. My cousins then became interested by light painting.

One of my wishes for the end of the year was to spend it with amazing people that I love, and well my 18th New Year wasn't with my family like it has been my entire life. I spent those last minutes counting down with my second family, and then spent the earliest minutes of 2012 congratulating each other and hugging. It was really great. Despite the mishaps that occurred throughout the day, it will be unforgettable for me. I'm so happy it was spent this way, no regrets :) I was the fail host of the day, but somehow everyone invited did turn up! We met up with the first half at Liverpool station.

It was decided quite last minute that we would go to Bondi instead of Manly, against Peter's wishes to ride a ferry for once. Only because the travel would be shorter and much more organised. As well as the familiarity we all had for Bondi. The weather did initially seem to go against us with its gloomy clouds overshadowing the beach giving it this cold atmosphere. But as soon as noon hit, the clouds existance had vanished. We took gifs of course, and while trying to cover bao in Sand we found a buried board. Which after its removal we put Thanh in so he could be buried.

After spending too much time at the beach we took an express back to Bondi Junction followed by a train to Central where we had to meet up with the rest at Capitol Square. But everyone was "somewhat" delayed, so we spent time just gambling playing the fishing game before taking one set of Purikura. And let me say we've attempted to fit large numbers of us in a booth before but 19 was the largest number we've ever had to deal with. The routine is usually just shouting at the boys to squish at the back and the girls at the front since we were the ones who get to keep the photos since we paid for them.

And while the girls were decorating these, the guys had already run off to Galaxy World to spend the credits we had on the card.., which still hasn't been completely spent yet. Wow. The guys tested their strength as well as sought out who was quickest in shooting hoops and racing their cars.

At some point we realised we were reallly reallyyy realllyyyyy behind in our schedule and had to do a bit of a run to Town Hall Woolies so we could get extra supplies and catch a bus to our vantage point. Which I must say was an excellent spot. It was hilarious getting there since we gave up on the bus when we hit traffic and decided to walk the distance, what a wrong decision it was... however Tuan made a smarter decision to steal a shopping trolley so we could use to wheel our bags instead of carrying them there. More establishing group photo gifs because that's just how we roll.

We enjoyed the skywriting, which has been really popular lately. I swear I saw a marriage proposal the other day. But we took series of group photos, making pyramids in different ways, tables, jumping photos, ghost photos. Sparklers. And when it struck 9pm, it was the family fireworks!

The countdown started. Anne and I were standing in the shopping trolley and had the entire harbour in our view. Jeremy had my camera and took the photos for the next 10-15minutes as the fireworks went off. And I was in that moment of contemplation, recapping my entire 2011 in those split moments and hoping and wishing for the best for 2012.

The city looked gorgeous on the trip home. We waited 40minutes for a bus, and the train I took went for 2 hours. Damn Bankstown line. We had Johnny's pizza before I headed back to Anne's place. I got home after Sunrise, at around 5:30 where I hit the sack and hoped not to see sunlight for a very long time. So I hope everyone had the best week of 2012 so far! And Good Luck!

Money Pool

Yeah this post is just about a spontaneous trip to the city we had one day where we were supposed to be planning stuff, but ended up chilling at Galaxy World for a bit too long and somehow ended up at Kim's house for a horror movie that I never got to watch anyway. That sentence is definitely too long to be grammatically correct, but since I've finished my studies, I couldn't care less.

Early in the morning I met up with Bao at the station to take a train together to the city. I, who is always in a spontaneous mood bought a 2L tub of Cookie and Cream ice cream to eat at Town Hall when Michael and Stephen arrived. But as you can see all of them like avoiding my camera.

We finally met up with Jeremy at Galaxy world, and we had fun with the whole Triple Treat Thursday. Getting a card with $100 and getting $250 of gaming value on it. Jeremy had fun with light painting with my camera.

When we got hungry we ended up at a Sushi Train, and abused the whole student discount thing that makes all sushi worth $2.50 instead.

So at Kims house we tend to abuse each other's trust and when one falls asleep, and that is usually Bien, we'd draw on his face. And let me say, I have never drawn a penis on someone's face. I will forever always only ever draw a moustache!

Boxing Day Bondi Beach

I love spontaneous trips, only several hours before Boxing Day I was invited for a trip to Bondi Beach. This would have been my second visit ever. Also it dind't help that there was trackwork on the South Line, so I had to make my travel arrangements from Glenfield. I really didn't expect to see my school so soon. We spent a while commuting then waiting a while for the slightly less transport competent Lana.

We met up with Irina at the bus stop, and we took an express to the beach. We asked a stranger to take a group photo for us and then had our 12-2 lunch at Maccas.

Finally made it to the beach and we took several group photos taken by this sweet stranger. And did some lazing around as well as made our own inappropriate sandcastle.

The beach was a lot of fun, despite the weather reports suggesting rain and thunderstorms we saw none of that. We jumped through the chilling cold waters and laughed at how pathetic we were when we watched Irina the graceful mermaid dive under waves twice her size. And watched ourselves tremor at the sight of some half our height. And being quite a short person in the first place... is quite pathetic indeed. We went back to bondi Junction to eat and we had some spare time to just talk, catch up. etc.

Yep, once again I'm still a week ahead so heres the photos taken at my family Christmas Eve party. We exchanged gifts, ate plenty and enjoyed each other's company. Being called the Giant for the night since I was wearing these super tall wedges I bought the day before.

What I ended up scoring that night was a mystery amount of cash, a myer gift card, a chunky necklace, a cat pillow that will cater to my future forever-aloneness and future cat lady career, and a fragranced set. YEEE, also Theresa and I pulled our "unattractive faces" because we're really attractive like that.

Grandmas' Birthday

On the 23rd, majority of family gathered to my Grandparents' house for a dinner and just for a lovely reunion for her birthday.

It was still bright outside so I took my cousins out to the park. I remember what the the park once was, but its been renovated and yeah. Sadface. Still an awesome park nonetheless, they hogged the swings for quite a lengthy amount of time. I dn't think eighteen year olds are welcomed in parks anymore.

An uncle had came to retrieve us since it was time to cut the cake. And followed by group photos.

Emma's Goodbye Lunch

Farewells are hard, its not fun letting go of a friend for an extended period of time. And Emma was gonna be out of the country for almost two months. Though we promised to talk on skype, you can't just let them go without a final meeting. So a lunch was organised with a very small group of friends Catherine, Emma, Eric, Lauren and myself at Hurricanes.

We all ordered burgers and ordered a jug of Lemon, lime and Bitters. It was raining outside and watching through the window I was grateful for choosing to dine inside. The restaurant filled up quite quickly within the next half hour. When the food finally arrived it was mouth watering. But it was a huge struggle trying to finish all the chips.

We eventually left Hurricanes, and headed to the park. I know, I've been visiting this park everytime I head to the city for the past few weeks. Took a few group photos and did some shopping before saying our final farewell.

Karaoke!

Its not like I haven't spent enough time in the city, but somehow each visit differs from the last. Whether it be with different group of people or going to different sites. This trip I met up with Catherine and Osmond (who I had not seen for a month), and bumped into Rutherford on the train. We parted from the train and we went to capitol square to take a few caps and attempt to win from the claw machine.

There was a situation while we were waiting for the purikura to print when we noticed Osmond was missing, he doesn't have a mobile. So we resorted to walking around yelling his name. Turns out he left to visit a library, we were both stumped as to what library were close to where we were. Afterwards we finally had lunch and a hilarious visit to Dollar King.

Afterwards we met up with Eugene, Rutherford and Jess to go to K-1 bar for some awesome karaoke. We started with Justin Bieber's Mistletoe, and ended with Shontelle's Impossible. We jammed to Gaga, Rihanna, Ke$ha, Rebecca Black, Nicki Minaj, Bonnie Tyler and more. And it wouldn't be a post by me if there weren't any gifs made.

We had a short visit to the park before heading for some lunch at the Galleries.

REC-24

There is no greater feeling than achieving everything you wanted to do on a to do list. It was at the last REC day, we thought our time together was definitely not long enough to achieve all the things we wanted to do. So in order to accomplish things we extended REC "DAY" to "24". Obviously we had to adjust to Emma's time since she is usually the last to wake up, so it took a while for me to get picked up and we were dropped together at Catherines before being driven to the station. Train, our second mode of transport today. From the train, we caught a bus to Glebe where we had lunch at Sapphos and shopped at Glebe.

We went toilet hunting at Broadway because once you're in the City, toilets become a rarity. We then returned back to Central Station to catch a tram which was also covered by our MyMulti ticket. What we became really common to do while we're on these modes of transport we would try and spot a UTS building. It wasn't hard to do, but I always found it exciting to point out the buildings.

We got off at Convention I think, and walked to the playground so that I could prove my awesomeness by climbing the rope mountain. But before reaching the top I would panic and freak out. Turns out I'm really bad with heights. So I ended up just playing on the swings. However, Emma was a mountain Goat.

We walked back to Harbourside to catch the monorail. We missed two since monorails are actually quite popular and carriages were always full. In the end we caught the 3rd one that came by and I stood for the first half of the trip before seats were cleared. Through the windows we could find UTS again, man I don't know why I'm so excited. We arrived at City Centre and went Toilet hunting again!

We visited a few stores before heading towards Circular Quay. We stopped by the Apple Store and acted like quite a group of tourists as we walked past Burberry and Louis Vuitton.

The last mode of transport that we could catch using our MyMulti was a ferry! We caught one to Darling. The view was spectacular, and I'm so glad the weatherman got it wrong again because it was not cloudy and it was not freezing as he predicted it to be.

As we boarded off the wharf we walked towards the park again and we bumped into the 11th Doctor, Rose Tyler and the Tardis. I know Rose should never be with the 11th but I guess thats how it worked. We continued to look like tourist taking photos with them and other sites around the harbour.We shared a Value Dinner box between us three at Maccas. Woo saving money!

Our night finished with Fireworks at the Harbour which were happening every Saturday during December. They were 10minutes delayed but they were beautiful and were accompanied with music.

When we got home I was a bit pooped out, I fell asleep on the train and we exchanged gifts, talked for quite a lengthy time and watched Blink. I was so tired I fell asleep during a Rom Com we were watching. But I was constantly woken up by either of the two.

If some weren't aware, the second I finished the HSC I was hitting the books again to study for two exams. The first was to occur 2 weeks after I return from Beach house so I would be allowed to take the real deal. So I studied my morse, my knots, my camping, my 10 commandments. I got 67% first time allowing me to pass through. The real thing was much harder, did not have morse, and only 1/2 mark for a knot. So I had this gut feeling I was just going to fail, because I couldn't sing, couldn't speak Vietnamese. And miraculously somehow I got the pass mark of 65%. Yeah so I moved up from DTDB wearing a Yellow Khanh and a red stripe to a Red Khanh and also receiving a whistle! Also Fatima Miller won the Trophy, HECK TO THE YEAH!

The Amazing Race 2011

It's 9:30am on a Saturday at Central Station! A text message was sent out to the 18 contestants providing them with the details of what team they were about to represent and who were their two other team members. Team members must communicate to each other in a hope to meet up and get a head start to Pit Stop 1. Shortly after the text, another text was sent entirely in morse code. Teams must decipher the code receive their first clue! If done correctly they should figure out that the first station is at Easyway.

At the station, two organisers in Christmas Hats will greet them, each member in a team is provided with their name tags, a clue and instructions of a certain way of "checking in". We'll be following Team Orange which includes team members: Anna, Michael Tran and Rosa. They've just been given their first clue, and within the first few minutes Anna had been knocked over twice resulting in scraped knees. However, team Orange must use their knowledge to find the answer to the Mat Thu as "Follow the Pink Path. At the end there will be four chicks on hay" which should lead them to Market City.

At Market City, teams are to check in and are given the next clue. Rosa of the Orange Team did not approve of the clue, so therefore it shall not be told but it had instructed the team to go to Galaxy World inside Market City. At arrival, they were to check in with Bien and Panda. They were given a galaxy world card with $5 and instructed to win "something that will show me I'm happy". Unfortunately this team struggled to obtain the 75points required to win a mood ring. Eventually after panicking they won and received the next clue.

Bien was presented with the mood ring and another envelope with a clue was given to the team. This time the mat thu's were getting harder: "Station 3:

The code was both in Vietnamese and in English. A typo hindered several teams from passing this point but eventually made it to the final destination that is China Town Morning Glory. Organisers Sylvia and Kim were waiting and before getting their next clue they must collect '3 Asian Flyers' from either the restaurants, old women and other stores in China Town. After presenting that to the Organisers, they were given a clue to pass. They must unscramble five words, which then gave them letters to unscramble to form a sentence that leads to the next station.

The clue was "Walking on Water", Teams were expected to head towards Tumbalong Park at Darling to meet four of the organisers stationed at the Water Platforms. Out of the 16 positions, four were marked as correct. Teams have 10 turns to guess which four were correct. If they failed to do so, they were to be tortured by water before attempting again. After completion, they will be told that a clue would be hidden by one of the street poles. So they could be lead to the next clue.

Team Orange completed the round without getting wet and achieved to get the next clue which told them to go with the flow until a swirl. Teams were running to get to the swirl water fountain in Darling where Anh Thanh was waiting. They checked in and was told to count how many "circles" not "circles within circles" in the water fountain and tell the man at the Giant Australian Flag to tell him the answer.

Teams ran through the Harbourside Centre to run to the bridge where the closest point to the Giant Flag was. The next clue was given to them to overlapped a map of the city with a findaword. Teams are expected to trace the visible monorail map onto the findaword to find the next clue.

Teams were to follow the monorail until the Centre of the City where they will need to spot a team of Christmas Hats to find their next station. Teams will collide with Kim where they are given a sheet to read carefully and execute the task so they can be lead to the next clue.

Kim would direct teams who have achieved the task to Bien and Panda where the next clue was given to them. The clue involved a formula and graph of a semi-circle, the roots of numbers corresponded to the letters of the alphabet. After decoding they would be led to Matthew who was inside Myer and have 30minute roadblock to eat.

Team Orange has since the beginning been placed First. So were held back a tad longer, and when released were given the next clue. Which Rosa also disapproved about and was a table where letters must be swapped and then read so they could be lead to a Giant Christmas Tree at Martin Place. To receive the next clue, teams must ask a complete stranger to take a photo of them with the entirety of the Christmas Tree. Failing to capture the entire tree would cause delay and teams would be forced to ask another stranger.

Teams then received Station 9 clue, the bitchiest clue out as it depended on your creativity in words. After calling Bien as he was the "helpline" he had falsely instructed Team Orange that "park" was not in the clue, however was twice mentioned in the clue.

After realising that park had to be the word and that Tumbalong was the park. Team Orange was in a race running from Martin Place towards Darling against Maria, Harry and Phillip. Team Orange was under the impression the race was over but turns out they must chase the Monkey King, complete four physical tasks involving wate or complete a very difficult Mat Thu. The round had been too difficult so most teams were given the answer to Mat Thu and told to race the Monkey King = Jeremy in climbing up the Rope Mountain to then chase him to receive a clue.

The game then reached a new "low" as teams tried to deceive each other as the final race was to leave the City and return to Bui's house an hour away. Teams dispersed each catching their own trains, choosing their ride to the house in ways of car or bus. Phonecalls to each other lying of their current locations in order to trick other teams into arriving first. And of course, team Orange was victorious by 10seconds!
