Kudos to the chair, Deb Camfferman, for organizing the whole event months in advance along with her team and making it all happen last Saturday. Thanks to Carolyn (great brochure!), Kai, Catherine and Brian. To all the homes on the tour, thank you for opening your doors to the many visitors we had and sharing your beautiful abode. Thanks to all the neighborhood volunteers (you know who you are) who cleaned up the streets and parks, spread the word to their friends and family, set up the booths and signages, guided the people from home to home, and gave us an inspiring outdoor museum tour.

Lastly, we thank all our sponsors who helped make this event possible. It should be unless you missed that old post about Latin bar/bistro De Santo, which closed some time last year. Well, the place is open again. But this time, it has been replaced by Red Mesa Restaurant. And yes, it is the same owner as the Red Mesa on 4th Street.

We chanced upon the place last night while driving downtown looking for a place to eat at. And it turned out to be a really good chance encounter. The food was just great. One of the better Mexican (fusion?) restaurants around town. From appetizers, to entrees, dessert and even the margaritas they served on tap were perfect. To top it all off, service was impeccable. I think that's all good for a place that's just been open two weeks.

What more could you ask for? Maybe that they don't close down anytime soon? I think they'll do alright. Check it out.

Red Mesa
128 3rd Street South

Porch Party this Friday!

It's not exactly Roser Park, but Ralph and Shannon have fast become honorary members of our neighborhood. Established by developer Charles Roser in 1911 as one of St. Petersburg’s first “streetcar suburbs,” the neighborhood is distinguished by its brick streets, venerable oaks and beautiful old bungalows, all laid out along a winding creek on hilly terrain unique to the region. The architectural styles include Prairie, Spanish Revival, Dutch Colonial, “airplane” and double-gabled bungalow, with many of the homes dating to the 1920s. The acclaimed outdoor museum features 28 placards which visitors can follow for a self-guided walking tour through early St. Pete history. Guided tours will also be offered during the Tour of Homes.

Support the 5th Annual Historic Roser Park Art Festival

As November draws near, we start gearing up for one of Roser Park's biggest events of the year, the Art Festival!
