That feeling when you go to school for 4+ years but every entry level job still requires 5+ years of professional experience.

Some may think “Why didn’t you do internships?” Well for someone whose expenses weren’t covered and having a job or two was necessary, taking on unpaid opportunities isn’t always an option. I was only able to intern once and this was due to a graduation requirement in the form of an internship course. Had this not been a mandatory aspect of my education I would have never had the chance to get the little experience I acquired. I'm still grateful to the magazine who took a chance on me. But I had so many peers who weren't required to and did not have the luxury of learning in that capacity.

This lack of experience leaves you with few options once you walk across that ceremonial stage making your family proud and experiencing a brief moment of accomplishment) and onto the other side where the excitement of putting the talent or skills you’ve spent years honing to work is crushed by those 3 little words... “years of experience.” Ironically, you'll see several positions with degree requirement missing in action.

This is just a thought I’ve had over the past few months in my post graduate state of feeling looked over because I spent time earning something thats so hard to put to use now that I’m done. With graduation around the corner for so many of you I only wish good luck, mental health & positivity. For anyone dealing with this I welcome your thoughts!

INTENSE

Being on the opposite spectrum of fair skin, trying out/finding a favorable blush can be tricky. They can be too electric and the lighter shades can "blend" in instead of "stand" out so I stick to my trusted shades just to play it safe. But this array of blushes that City Color Cosmetics released has sparked interest.

The set of six shades is simply named "Intense Blush Palette" and to be honest... that's really all you need to know. The colors range from a light apricot to a vibrant pink. Each shade passes the pigmentation test. But don't let that share you -- they're build-able so one light swipe is great for the timid blush wearers.

I will say there is some fall out so be careful near you crisp white shirts. This palette is great for anyone who loves a peachy cheek. Personally I think orange blushes are under-rated so it's nice to see so many options for the ripe color in one place!

DIPPING BACK IN

Dipping my toes into the blog waters again. I've strayed away from not only blog but the anything really having to do with fashion all together. Running a site based on style requires staying on trend and staying on trend requires money. As my budget ceased to allow me to keep up I loss interest in it all.

I'm not high maintenance or anything but I couldn't stand to "explore" within my closet on repeat. It didn't make for great photography. So I turned focused to YouTube and dived right into beauty and lifestyle (which surprisingly was mush less cost effective). A few months, a self help book and some de-cluttering helped my realize I had fallen into a slump.

I got insanely comfortable in the idea of embracing this side of my interest that I fell away from what I actually inspires me. After clearing out all of the color I had introduced I found myself coming up for air. So here I am dipping my toes back into blogging waters...

Up until a few months ago my only use of denim was in the form of bottoms and maybe a jacket. Denim is becoming trendy again. I'm getting biker vibes, 70's feels and early 2000's tease from everyone and I'm loving it all!

I've actually had this rule that if denim were to be paired they had to be close in wash. But when pairing this Love Buzz strappy bodycon set something told me to grab this baby blue denim jacket. I was doubtful but the white vans totally balanced it out.

And let's talk about this jumpsuit! If you follow on social media you've seen my love for wide leg pants grow, so when I saw this baby and had to snag it! There's something about the excess fabric and flare that makes me feel... sophisticated. And the hidden heel underneath aren't a bad touch either.

Laced Up High Shift Dress

Two trends I seen emerging are lace up tops and chokers. And I've jumped on both. The 90's baby in me has racked up so many chokers in the span of the past few weeks it's insane. And somehow this dress is giving my new found collection to shame. This lace dress has a built in choker! It has a sharp v-neck that laces right up and leaves you with extra fabric to tie around your neck.

This piece totally takes the stress of finding the right accessorizing off my plate. The sleeves have a bell shape which means no arm candy needed. And just when you thought the low neckline was enough the back gives the front a run for its money. If I was bold enough I'd turn it around and make use of some double-sided tape! OLD HABITS, NO COLOR

You would think that this look was a product of Fall approaching. But alas it is not. This was my version of Summer brunch attire. My friend Olivia Frescura and I went out for brunch and of course we we're giving off slightly Gothic vibes. I could never shake the dark side of my closet. I prance around my room putting together my look and don't realized I picked up all black until I'm done. I then throw on a pop (more like a hint tbh) of color to make up for it. People have mentioned before that I dress like I'm from New York. Which makes me feel bad ass but also like an Adams family member -- no complaints here.

It's not that I don't like color. Hell, this summer I branched out and experienced wearing pink without one bit of sarcasm. In fact, there's a blue off the shoulder number on my clothing rack just waiting to be worn. What I'm trying to say here is that it's hard to break old habits but it's not so bad when you look good repeating them!

As cool as I may appear in photos I'm quite the dork. I tell the corniest jokes — this is an opinion seems to be held heavily with my BF because a lot of people think I'm funny but I digress — I'm kind of a klutz and I geek out when strangers make Doctor Who references. I say all of this to say that I don't follow too many trends. Mostly because I like to do my own thing but sometimes it's due to the little voice in my head saying "You can't pull it off."

So when the "Dad Hat" started having it's moment my bf bought me a few. This Kanye inspired "It Ain't Raplh Tho" hat was actually my first choice and I was excited.. until they came in the mail. I immediately compared my head size to the cap and felt like Bobby from Bobby's world (my favorite 90s cartoon as toddler). And the dork in me let them sit in my closet. But one day I had to say F*CK IT! And I look pretty dope if I may say so myself.

So moral of the story is... uhhh... don't let your insecurities (in my case outer dork) stop you from trying new shit. Sometimes you gotta have a Kanye confidence about yourself.

So I love a good crop top. And body-con never does me wrong. So when Iya Ijebu (Ee-yah Ee-jeh-boo) reached out to me to review one of their pieces I was happy to say "yes!" And I thought to myself... "Why talk about it when I can show this baby off!"

The material is the right amount of snug. so I felt SNATCHED instead of suffocated. The cups in the top gives enough room for me to "flourish" but is tight in the right places. I've never had a body constricting dress this comfortable and fit this well.

This tee has to be my favorite novelty buy as a functioning adult. This entire looks is an ode to the eclectic wide-eyed girl who started this blog way too long ago. If I had a flexible lifestyle and a bevy of graphic coats, over the top shoes and graphic tees this would be an everyday thing. But alas, I don't get to express myself this way anymore. Working full-time has stifled the creativity in the slightly off/edgy department. And to be frank I miss it!

I know you're probably thinking "That's what weekends are for!" And you'd be right if I actually had somewhere to go/wasn't clinging to sweats and cotton tees on my days off. So I'll continue to day dream about the OOTD's that never were and just leave this here.

This look is as basic as it gets but that's where I've been living lately. Less is easier and a always good fit. So when my lovely BF got me out of bed for an impromptu day of shooting this was the first thing I threw on. We spent time finding places to shoot for that day and making notes for future looks. He got a lot of great shots as per usual -- just wishing I could post them all. I guess these will do for now!

Late last year I decided to start working and out and eating healthy. We all know how that goes. It's a rollercoaster for someone with lazy tendencies and little self control when it comes to food. So as the new year began I decided that building up my at home workout set up was key to staying on track.

When I do go to the gym I focus less on cardio and more on weight and strength training. I'm not a pro or a muscle head or anything trust me. When I don't make it to the gym what has been helpful lately are these TKO 4-Way Resistant Bands. Not only does the tension adjustability gives a great abs, arms, and back workout, if I wrap them around a bar -- in my case my bed post -- I can get in some squats.

I tend to unintentionally focus on legs at the gym so this is a smart and easy upper body workout I know I will get. And the best thing about having a good workout at home is being able to blast my music throughout the house while I do it!

One of the first blogs I started reading when I start this one forever ago was Aimee Song's blog Song of Style. What got me hooked was her style. It was California with a bit of an edge -- the girl knew the power of a good bootie and denim shorts. Not only did I love her fun tone of voice but her phrase "Aimeeways"made the creative writer in me love her even more. She was super sweet and as she kept blogging I kept reading. Since then both online and in person Ms. Song's vibes and personality have never changed.

Nude For You Song of Style x Formula X

When Aimee announced her collaboration with the nail polish brand Formula X I had to get myself to Sephora and support. I picked up Nude For You which is described as “The ultimate universal nude that elongates your fingers.” And let me say it did not disappoint! I'm a nail polish lover and hoarder which means I'm constantly buying, coveting and eventually tossing nail polish. Recently I've gotten strict with the quality of my polish and this one meets all of my criteria:

1. Not too thin and not too thick: The formula apply smooth and this color only requires two coats but you can totally get away with one.

2. Fast to Dry: Two coats dries in 4-5 minutes. I found out after brushing my nails against my over the knee boots that I don't have to do the my nails are wet dance for an hour waiting for this polish to dry. And it passes the pillow/mattress imprint test. Went to sleep 30 minutes after applying the polish worried about imprints from sheets and woke up the next day with them still in tact/

3. High Shine: I've applied this twice since purchasing and opted out of top coat both times. Going on day 3 of the second application and my nails are still shining!

4. Chipping: Made it through washing pots and pans and only chipped at the tips after full house Sunday scrubbing.

5. Color: Aimee created this as a universal nude color and I agree. The color looks great on fairer skin tones such as hers and still looks great on a deeper tone like mine. All nudes aren't created equal but Nude For You is!

If any of you were thinking about picking up one of these colors go for it! With that said, Aimee you did an amazing job with this collaboration -- I've tested the others in store and they look just as good. I've got a ride or die nude polish now and that's just one more reason to love you!

To anyone who decoded the title of this post... we should be best friends. I've always wanted to rock a Canadian Tuxedo for some time but I had to figure out how to wear it my way. There are a lot of trends that I love initially but hold off on if it's not totally my style.

It was fun to try this denim on denim look that I've admired from afar. It was a good kick start for the new year and my style. I want to try more things as well as get back to my original aesthetic (eclectic/tom boyish) style. I was looking through older blog post was reminded of the way I use to mix messy with girly. I miss throwing my Timberland's on with feminine looks and my signature dirty t-shirt tuck. So my goal for the year is to both step out and step back at the same time!

I couldn't help but use the cheesiest line there is to describe the new year. All jokes aside, I'm excited for 2016. I've accomplished so many of my goals this year but honestly it was all just a bit of a trial run. I took content creating a lot more seriously and putting myself out there. I put just about every idea I had for a shoot/video and made it real. I meet so many new people, brands, and made amazing new friends in the process.

One of my biggest accomplishments this year was traveling. If you follow any of my social media you would know that I traveled to New York in October for a Generation Beauty (a vlogger/blogger conference). The trip was initially impossible but I put trust in myself and made it there with the support of those around me. Stepping foot on the other side of the country for the first time in my life was an amazing experience. As a West Coast girl through and through I was surprised at how much I loved it.

If 2016 is thing like 2015 I know it's going to be amazing. I just can't wait to take all the inspiration and confidence this year has provided and triple that!

I've never taken official Christmas photos or sent out Christmas cards. And as I was wrapping gifts last night — Horribly by the way. I am the worst gift wrapper ever — I thought "Why the hell don't I take my own?!" So I hopped into my Christmas leggings, plopped on some reindeer ears and put on a little CC cream, some eyeliner and a red lip and took some festive photos.

We all know I'm tip toeing back into the blogging world. I'm not forcing myself to post. I'm simply letting concepts and ideas come organically. But there's always one person who can get my blogger wheels turning, Amber Kaz (aka Liberity Denied/My Eyes are Hungry). When I stopped posting i was living variously through her.

Amber has this dark yet calm style and aesthetic that compliments mine so well. And I mean it because when we met up in outfits that were so in sync and it was not intentional. We both knew the other was wearing black but that's about it. We agreed this spot was perfect and took out our cameras to get snapping.

It's great to have friends who think the same and give off a great vibe. It's always a good time when Amblet (a lame duo name we made up a long time ago) is around.

I wanted to share the beauty that is the Becca Holiday Champagne Glow Palette. If you're involved in any bit of the beauty world (be YouTube, Blogs, or Instagram) you have heard about this bad boy. And although the entire interwebs has debuted the palette, I wanted to show some up closes, share swatches and give my thoughts on it!

The trio features Pearl, Champagne Pop (c/o of the creative mind of Jaclyn Hill), and Blushed Copper.

Pearl, one of Becca's permanent liquid highlighters, is a solid shimmering white shade. And while it may be intimidating for someone of my skin tone or darker, it's not. The trick is to apply this color sparingly. Use a fluffy brush and a light hand it's sure to give a subtle shine.

Champagne Pop, the infamous limited edition shade, is describe as a "soft white gold with pinky peach undertone." I think the mixture of gold and the delicate undertones makes it a great fit for all skin tones.

And last but not least, Blushed Copper. This warm copper with rose gold tones made it's debut via this palette and has yet to be announce as permanent or LE. Either way this color is different... in a good way. From what I have seen it's the perfect bronzer/contour on fair skin. Personally I find it to be a great bronzer/highlight myself.

Overall the palette is definitely worth it. You're getting three shades for less than the price of one Becca's Shimmering Skin Perfector (which I own and love as well). Also, the highlighters are meant to double as shadows (bonus). So if you are thinking about snagging one of these babies before they're all gone, Go for it. And I mean come on... it's so pretty to look at, how could you resist?!

I'm slowing allowing grey to absorb my love for black. It's has the monochrome feel but much less aggressive. I always feel like I'm giving off Kelly Cutrone vibes when I'm in all black. That's not a bad thing but to those who enjoy a bit more color in their life it can be a bit offensive and I think grey (and the many shades it comes in) is a nice compromise. Plus it looks really good against my skin.

I've been loving simple pieces like this tube dress. Kim K. has definitely known something we haven't for the long time because this dress comfy yet it hugs the body just right. Let's just say I've caught in and I'll be picking up more of these. Judge me if you must!

This shirt actually describes my life this moment. Not only have I been MIA from my online content (both the blog & YouTube) I have also been neglecting my favorite form of social media -- Instagram. I believe it to be a combination of not feeling inspiration and not feeling A1 appearance wise. Let's call it "Bloggers block."

Don't get me wrong the ideas are flowing. The energy required for execution of said ideas... not so much. My closet friend have all moved home (aka far as hell away) so I have no real reason to get dressed up and be social. I shot this a few weeks ago before the slump fyi lol.

My birthday is next month so I''m hoping that sparks enough some sass and finesse (a word the boy likes to use) to be more present.

...or maybe I need a more blogger friendly atmosphere to keep that vibe going.

JIL SANDER NAVY SPRING 15' PRESENTATION

I ran into my blogger bff, Amber, actually ended up at the same event which was nice treat. it's always initially awkward to feel the room at an even so it was nice to have a "crew." We kind of looked like cool kids all coordinated in black — I dug it.

Last weekend I was invited to attend the Spring 15' presentation for Jil Sander Navy. Before arriving I didn't know what to expect. I was praying that being a few minutes late didn't mean I'd be walking into a runway show already in progress. To my surprise there was a no runway (thank god) but models perfectly a top platforms.

I'm a big fan of minimalist with a pop of flavor and this collection is that. There were boxy tops styled with playful patterns. There were utility coats and structured fit of the pieces that especially caught my eye. My favorite coupling of the night was a mesh and feminine mixture — the perfect example of the edgy yet flirty vibe I religious aim for with my personal style.

I had a chance to chat with the store manager who put the presentation together. Originally, there were no plans to have a viewing. His mission was to make something happen so that the recently opened store would participate in LA Fashion week... and he did a great job. The idea was genius and attract a lot of blogger babes and gents. Intimate viewings like this are definitely needed here on the west coast. The vibe in LA is more chill than the runway ready scene of New York City. All-in all it was a great night and a great way to get familiar with the brand's new collection.

SKIN CARE SUNDAY

In my last skincare related post I mentioned learning what works as I get older. I'm not headed into my 30s or anything but I will be 24 this year and I've got to get a start on this stuff. Recently, I found certain problem areas. I've also seen my skin go from dry to a combination of oily and dry after a few years of wearing makeup. So finding the right products that will take care of each little aspect can be tedious.

Lindi Lip Balm: I use as a pre-lip product moisturizer. It makes my lips feel like pillows and assures my lips are crack free which is key when wearing the daring lip colors I tend to gravitate toward.

I've added the Lindi Skin Face Serum + Lip Balm + Face Wash + Eye Hydrator to my routine. And to be honest I didn't expect them to make such a big difference in such a short amount of time. The kit works together to keep my skin smooth and cleansed.

Take my under eyes for example. Over the past year I've developed dry patches underneath my eyes. Lotions and moisturizers only acted temporarily and they would be dry again a few hours later. So when I saw the Lindi Eye Hydrator I had little hope that this would be able to penetrate the situation. To my surprise after one application my eyes felt really hydrated — with a bit of the dry texture lingering. BUT after the second use it was like butter! It's been almost three weeks and that dry feeling has yet to resurface (and I haven't had to apply it much since). I'm just gonna go ahead and say "Holy Grail" because it's solved one of peskiest problems within a week.

Like I said earlier makeup has changed the condition of my skin so confiding in a daily cleansing routine is key. The Lindi Face Wash and Face Serum have been the perfect duo. The light weight face wash is a great soap alternative that cleanses to balance the PH balance and rid of dirt. The face serum comes right behind and puts the moisture back into my skin and leaves it that way all day. I went a whole day feeling my face (which is a skin care sin I know, I know!) and my face felt as soft and smooth as it did that morning.

Actually the results shouldn't be so shocking if you consider the products background. Lindi Skin was originally created as a skin care line for cancer patients undergoing treatments. If you are familiar with chemo, radiation, and other therapies you know it comes with skin related side effects (dry skin, itchy skin, hyper pigmentation, photosensitivity - tendency to sunburn easily, and rashes).
