Fall's Hottest Makeup Trend 2014

The look: Charlotte Tillbury created this look for Donna Karen's NYFW 2014 using "MAC's Phone number eyeliner on waterline and smudged on the top lash line. Silver Metallic cremes were then applied to the lids toward the brow bone and a layer of gloss was later added for a liquid silver effect." according to cosmopolitan.

How to wear it: Opt to wear phone number on waterline and smudge on lid only. Add a silver eyeshadow to the inner corner like +Motives Cosmetics eyeshadow in "Stardust." To make it wearable for evening, try mixing with a black liner like +NYX Cosmetics "black" in the waterline as well to give that smokey effect. Complete the look by adding a volumizing mascara.

Latina Beauty

The very first beauty book that I purchased about 12 years ago was "Latina Beauty" I can still remember being so ecstatic to find a book that I could relate to. I think it was the first and last book of it's kind, so in some type of way I dedicate this blog to this book, for helping me find the artista (artist) in me. I studied this book like I was getting ready for an exam. I also kept my sister in law up at night creating different looks on her. She often reminded me not to be 'wasted talent' and somehow that stuck to me. It reminded me every time I would get discouraged about this passion of creating beauty. I have been on a mission ever since.
I thank my mom for pushing me and expecting excellence. I earned a B.A in 2000 and have been working as a Professional Social Worker ever since. It wasn't until a few years later, while praying and seeking God about what he created me to do, that I felt something was missing and this idea to create hit home, so I practiced my heart away to learn makeup. I wanted to ability to inspire women inside out and believed that if you can help someone feel good on the inside it would translate on the outside and vice versa. On a mission to discover this dream, instead of pursuing a double major to attain a Ph.D in counseling as I had planned, I enrolled into Jean Madeline Aveda Institute and graduated in 2004. Upon graduation, I went to work for my dream job at M.A.C cosmetics. It was such a blessing to have worked and meet so many amazing artists.

It has been a fun journey but at the time, my poor Latina mother almost had a heart attack when I told her I was not going to get my Ph.D...she told me I had birds in my head. haha! Meaning, I had lost it...but the thought of combining my love for art and people took precedence. For years, being able to combine both arts was such a dream, and now my family understands that I come alive when I am able to create & inspire other people. Being able to pursue my dreams has opened new dreams and my love to help other people pursue their passions is on my list too. It is so true what my pastor said years ago... that "if you can't find a door of opportunity-open a window" and I did.

Our Mission:

Our Mission at Rosie Reed Beauty is to inspire beauty inside out. My prayer is that I will be able to inspire & encourage someone out there, not just with makeup, but mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. It is important to be whole as a person. Often times, in our life we wear many masks to hide our real self. I hope that through our team of beauty experts you will be inspired, encouraged and motivated to pursue your God given talents & dreams and be healed from the inside out.

Words of Encouragement:

Remember that you are made uniquely and for such a time as this. It is so true. Do not be discouraged. If your talents are different, or if you are still soul searching then that's the first step. Begin asking yourself what are you naturally good at? and what can be developed? Then find a mentor to assist. There is not one person on this earth that is like you. You were made unique. You were made with a purpose in mind. It took me a long time to find mine, but when I did, I ran with it and have been pursuing it wholeheartedly. As an artist & entrepreneur, I am continually learning and practicing. I am passionately in love with the God given gifts he has given me & hope to be able to inspire, help, and encourage entrepreneurs everywhere to pursue your dreams.

Makeup Tip: This fall, as you are getting ready to pick out you colors think cranberry, maroons & for eyes, metallics such as silver.

SUMMER GIVEAWAY

I love summer probably as much as winter for different reasons. Summer is a time for the soaking up the sun, beach hopping, iced caramel lattes and pretty pops of color. What is it about a phone case that makes girls squeal with giddiness!? Eek! I just love dressing up my phone, probably as much as I like changing my purse with my outfits, or as much as I change my lipstick. These by far are some of my favorites. They have the right amount of glam, don't they?

Lea Michele's HOT pink lips

Much debate has been going on about the lipstick choice that Lea Michele wore to the kids choice awards a few days ago. Some love it, some hate it. What do you think? We personally love it. We think this is such a fun & feminine look along with her faux bob and lacey dress.

To get Lea's look: use "Anime" from OCC. It is the perfect neon pink lippie to dress up or down in some jeans and a white tee. If this look feels too bold and bright, try mixing a pure white like "Feathered" with "Anime" both from OCC to get anything from a toned down pink to the palest pink (with a few drops) and to be spring ready in no time. xo

LOVE at first Bite

Ooh! Valentine's Day is just around the corner and what better way to celebrate than to introduce you to Bite Beauty. I stumbled upon this gem one day at Sephora. I have to admit, I almost didn't give them a try, but something about their display was so pretty, fresh & clean and it drew me in. Yes, I'm a sucker for pretty things & at first smell, I was at hello. When I researched the company a bit, I was excited that "BITE contains the age-defying antioxidant Resveratrol and organic shea and fruit butters for a moisture-rich feel. All of the colourants that make BITE so richly pigmented are food grade approved." This is pretty rare these days to find a product that is both natural and highly pigmented so I definitely had to share them with you. I am pretty swooned by this line, I recently went back for my third lipgloss- What can I say, it's not chocolate, but I'm pretty hooked!
