Marie is a wedding planner herself so if you’re in the market for one definitely check her out at Boutique Events. She has a great personality and reminded us very much of our wedding planner in Playa Del Carmen who we loved!

This old church built in 1914 is suppose to be the subject of an old Ansel Adams photograph.

As a side note Chau and I also got bit/stung by some kind of insect out there while we were romping around looking for photo spots in the undergrowth and debris of a few huge eucalyptus trees. We both didn’t see the bug(s) and still have no idea what stung us out there. It felt like a bee sting but only much worse. My entire hand swelled up and Chau got a huge welt on her leg. She actually got stung through her jeans! Really weird but oh well, we’ll do anything for the photos! Ticks, spiders, stinging insects, bring it on mother nature!

The one I had to wear looked just like this except my hat was too small and my pants were at mid calf. Not an attractive outfit for me!

We did this shoot at an old abandoned train tunnel from the late 1800′s that Chau and I had scouted out before. It turned out to be a FANTASTIC place! I could shoot here for hours which unfortunately we didn’t get because we got the boot from a nosy security guard passing through. That didn’t discourage us from coming back for a quick 15 minutes in the tunnel after she left though =]. This place is really awesome because the age shows throughout the area. You can find remnants of the old train station that used to lie here scattered throughout. The streams and mini waterfalls here are also gorgeous. This place is definitely in my list of top 5 places to shoot in the Bay Area.

We ran back into the tunnel with minimal gear for a quick 15 minutes to get a few quick shots here. I just couldn’t get myself to leave without getting some pics inside the tunnel!

This shoot was loads of fun but also a lot more tiring and difficult than I initially thought it would be. They had us constantly dunking below the water in what seemed like forever. I thought it would just be like when I used to swim for hours as a kid but it was actually nothing like this. I think it had to do with constantly trying to stay beneath the water as long as I could while being conscious of the camera then resting for a couple minutes only to do it all over again. Chau especially had a difficult time with it because she’s not a very strong swimmer. But she powered through it like a trooper and never complained. Even after she cut up her feet on the rocks and swallowed loads of water she still hung in there. I was so proud of her! The experience was so worth it though. Sol and Matt are great people and we just loved being around them. I had an extreme case of the butterflies since I had been following Matt and Sol for such a long time it was like going out with a couple mini celebrities in my eyes but they quickly put my nerves at ease with their friendly and outgoing personalities (and the beer they gave me helped too =]). I especially was in heaven watching them shoot with all their underwater gear and top notch camera equipment. I was so jealous! If anyone is on the fence about doing a trash the dress shoot with them don’t be. Spring for it, you’ll be happy that you did!

This shot was a mistake. Sol was trying to make Chau look like a mermaid swimming through the water but she was having a lot of difficulty not floating directly to the top. Chau was so worried that she made me swim to each side to make sure to grab her in case she couldn’t make it. This was one of the times where she had trouble and I went to grab (rescue) her. I think it’s a very romantic shot. I really love it. Sometimes the unplanned turn out better than the planned!

As always my lovely wife Chau came along to assist. This time my sister also came along to help assist and help with directing poses. It turned out great and I hope to have this same team on more of our shoots in the future.
