Interesting concepts on a redesigning the Dollar bill. Although very well done, I’m not convinced it “feels” like money.

Being a Brit, jaunts to the States have always led to a certain level of confusion when handling their notes – especially after a few ales in the Lower East Side – thanks to their uniformed size and colour… it’s surely a consideration that UK/US agency Dowling Duncan has considered, as their entry for the Dollar ReDe$ign Project embraces the sort of strong note definition that even our most bleary of beer goggles could identify easily. Bright and bold colours, a crisp, contemporary type treatment and brilliant images that are so evocative of American history and culture, Dowling Duncan’s redesign is sophisticated, powerful and so very fit for purpose…

Having worked on my first iPhone app for one of our (big!) clients at Evolving, its been very useful to have the GUI kits available. Speckyboy have compiled a load of resources for iPhone/iPad app designers/developers so go and grab them!

To help streamline your iPhone app design and development, we have put together a fairly comprehensive collection of iPhone & iPad GUI kits that will allow you to focus on developing rather than having to design everything from scratch. Within this post you will find complete GUI kits and stencils, iPhone GUI elements and PSDs and finally a collection of the best icon-sets perfectly suited for the iPhone. (Some of the preview images are intentionally to large to show the as much of each GUI as possible).

As we like to do every few months, in this article you will find a comprehensive round-up of the best and freshest icon sets for web designers and developer. As well as the popular icon categories – general purpose developer sets, mini-pixel sets, pictograms and social media and service icon sets – we have also introduced a new category into this round-up: The Super Icon-Set. Perhaps this title is a little bit ambitious, but when you have a look at the ‘Super’ sets below, what else could you call them?

Came across this via Delete’s Twitter feed. Curtis is a typeface made up entirely of CSS. Amazing stuff!

Curtis is the name I’ve given for a family of geometric sans-serif fonts currently in development. Other incarnations exist as Fontstructions: Curtis Heavy and Curtis Pixel 14. This version takes form in CSS. All shapes are rendered by the browser, using a combination of background color, border width, border radius, and a heavily reliance on absolute/relative positioning. You can get a better idea of how the letters were formed with the Inspect display option.

Coca Cola has been an example for good branding practices throughout the years because of it’s consistency over the years especially if you compare it to Pepsi. Coke’s bottle silhouette might be one of the most iconic symbols in the world next to the like of a Nike swoosh. When you’ve got a good thing going why change it?
