This is a re-do, in fact it hasn't been shown anywhere yet. It's always bothered me a little so I finally sanded off the top coat of sealer and added another layer, then resealed it. It's better but not where I'd like it to be......sigh.

Predatory behavior is mostly done, probably tweak it a bit but he looks finished more or less right now. The really great thing about assemblage is that you can keep going on them by adding a little something here and there maybe a little more color here and there....!
Finally got this one finished, he's got a light installed in his film can. I had to paint the interior white for added reflection and add some stiff mat board strips on the inside painted white close to the light source to concentrate the light to the area I wanted it to shine the brightest.
Finished the head up, he is a mix of taxidermy form and clay and stuff that looks like spit! He will be mounted in a box I just finished and painted. Once he's glued and screwed I will post a picture.
Well, maybe a bit of a stretch, but a Newfie did invade my art studio. His name is Hannibal and can be quite the hand full. He is so big that he can't turn around except in two places, or should I say, my studio is so packed he can't turn around!! He was pretty needy yesterday when his longtime friend was having surgery, luckily she is doing much better today. He has many nicknames but Hanni foo foo is my grandson's favorite and recent name that is a family favorite is Bananibal. The first picture it's the classic Newf look.
Here is the next version of the winged dog. Changed the wings which helped right off the bat, changed the color(again), changed the background......more to be done there.
Okay I have a big problem with this picture, it's really too boring and cutesy. I almost didn't put it up because it looks so bad to me and I must have changed it 3 or 4 times last night. But I thought maybe it could be a good illustration of what not to do. First thing that bothers me is that the color on the dog is all wrong....he has been several colors, the wings are okay but right now they are trite, background is under developed, by design however in frustration I started fiddling with it, hoping that would take care of the winged creature. I'm not too worried about the background yet. One of my problems is that blue ended up on his face and his feet and I could not for the life of me reconcile the body with those two aspects........so more on this tomorrow....I really hate it when I can't get something to work even though I can say with much wisdom that it's all for the best and I will come out of the experience with more insight blah blah blah.......gobbledygook.....I can't say that does much for me I still hate it and find frustration almost impossible to deal with and on top of that it occupies my mind and consumes me until I can solve the problem(s)........btw looking through my post instantly reveals my frustration, I can't even explain it without dithering my way through it.....geez!
Finished this painting yesterday, it's one I'm undecided about, I just don't know if I'm that excited about it......did more collage than I usually do so I found my self planning around that instead of looking at the whole thing. Love the old Cracker Jack boxes I might do more with that idea.
I am working on this painting, which has turned out to be more drawing than painting to this point. I still have to add more of something to the background. I had to redo the crackle 3 times until it looked right!! I did the background a little differently than usual, don't think I like it as well.
We are having a record year in all sorts of weather events EXCEPT warming of any kind....right now we are coming out the other side of an unusual blizzard, these sorts of snow storms don't usually hit until spring but we have had plenty of moisture this year so no surprises here!! We got close to three feet.....geez.
