You can get involved even if you're not from Ontario. Take a second to sing Showdown Joe's petition and get the Ontario premier to allow MMA in Canada's largest province. You can click on the title above for a direct link to the petition or type in the email at the bottom. Here are the details:

MMA Expo media sponsor and host of MMA Connected, “Showdown Joe” Ferraro
has been offered an opportunity to hand deliver a petition to Premier Dalton McGuinty but only if the number of signatures are significant. The required number is quite high, in fact more that the UFC's record attendance at the Bell Centre in Montreal (which was over 21,000). You can sign the petition even if you reside outside of Ontario.

You might have signed other similar petitions in the past – including the MMA Expo petition back in 2006! – but this one is different and could in fact have a positive effect on the Premier’s decision.

Also - in the New York Times today, Melvina Lathan, the chairwoman of the New York State Athletic Commission talks about bringing MMA to NY State. A must read here at the NY Times site.

With Carwin vs Lesnar put off until 2010 the UFC is counting on old standards like Couture, Ortiz and Penn to keep fans excited. But are any of these fighters "Headliners" still? Perhaps Machida vs Rua 2 would be the best bet to get fans excited...

Strikeforce vs UFC- could 11/7 be a turning date for the feud?

With the recent announcement that Brock Lesnar was going to have pull out of UFC 106 due to illness, the suddenly one sided feud with Strikeforce has a chance to become the WWE vs WCW of the late 90's and early 00's.. Strikeforce's signing of Fedor was the spark but this major pullout of UFC 106 has created an opportunity for Strikeforce to add their spark (Fedor) to some gasoline (Strikeforce's 11/7 event)...

Strikeforce has a chance to not only gain some11/7 event UFC followers but has a chance to bring in new fans to the sport completely. With the , featuring Fedor vs Rodgers, on national television with CBS, there is a HUGE opportunity for Strikeforce to make some big noise in the MMA world.

The Card features a number of highly competitive bouts including Fedor vs Rodgers, Mousasi vs Sokodjou and more...

Will this be the turning point in the big two MMA war? Will Fedor prove he is worthy of all his hype or will he fall short? Big questions that will be answered 11/7!

UFC judges should be arrested

because they just robbed Mauricio "Shoguin" Rua vs Machida. There is no doubt in my mind and the minds of those in attendance that Shogun won the fight. He was more active, He was incredibly accurate with his kicks and if you want proof just look at the ribs and legs of Machida that were bright red and full of welts even before the 2nd round finished.

It has to be utterly disappointing for Shogun who clearly was the aggressor, the more consistent and the more accurate fighter all fight long. If anything Michida's mystic has been blown away and the uniqueness of his style may now be more tempting for other strong kick strikers who will follow the path and plan that Shogun used tonight..

Hey folks just a quick reminder that Burlington Brawl VI is coming up soon at the Burlington Memorial Auditorium. Tickets will be going on sale soon through the Flynn and the full card can be found online here.

Myself and Mel Allen will actually being doing fight commentary work for the BB VI DVD's, so you will definitely want to get a hold of one of those as you will be seeing and hearing a historic event. Ok, maybe not historic, but one day you will hear us doing some big national event and you will say, hey I have the first event they ever did on DVD (or whatever format we will be using in the future)...
