As my journey rolls onwards, I have decided to continue to head for the South Island before the winter gets a firm grip. This being the case, Palmerston North seems to be the appropriate destination for today’s travels, although I may have wished I hadn’t bothered in hindsight

Travelling to Opotiki on my Birthday – Day 33

My journey was to Opotiki today, and it was a fair distance through mountainous roads. But I had a great feeling inside me today, as today is my birthday. I wanted it to be a day to remember, but wasn’t sure how I could guarantee that. So I just hoped it would be a good day anyway

Maori Bone Carving – Day 32

I have been very interested in the whole Maori culture, and each day I learn a little more, and it fascinates me. I had an idea to visit a bone-carving place today to try my hand at producing a nice necklace that will remind me of my time in New Zealand

Cathedral Cove and Surrounding Islands Boat Tour – Day 31

Whitianga is a lovely, picturesque place, with much to see all about. I wanted to get a better idea of where I was, and so to achieve this, I booked a boat trip around the cove. It seemed like it could be a nice relaxing day out, so I was looking forward to it.

The Hobbiton Tour – Day 30

My short stay at Rotorua had come to an end as the rest of New Zealand beckoned me. I felt in a silly mood this morning as I was off to Hobbiton, one of the places I dearly wanted to see. I hoped it would live up to my expectations, but just being there would be enough to put a big smile on my face.

So far Rotorua has proven itself to be every bit as fun and exciting as Taupo had been. What a great part of the world this is, with everything you could want all within an hour drive away. I had no idea what today would bring, but I hoped it would be something equally as memorable, especially as today was White Water Rafting day. But would it be everything I had hoped it would be?
