		<description>Friday 25th February 2011 – Australia Zoo, Australia
One of the advantages of staying at Flashpackers hostel was that you get all sorts of discounts to local attractions and days out. One of the places on my list of things I must see in Australia was Australia Zoo, home of the many animals rescued by the great, legendary Steve Irwin. It just so happened I could get a good price for a ticket there, so that was today sorted out for me.
I awoke early, showered and got ready. The hostel mini ...

		<description>Thursday 24th February – Noosa, Australia
I have to admit that I really relished having a second pillow last night. It is so nice to sleep in a comfortable bed with air conditioning filtering through the room. Don’t get me wrong, I love slumming it with the rest, but it is nice to have a little bit of luxury every now and then. The spoils didn’t stop there either, as a whole host of freebies awaited me in this hostel.
I am staying at Flaspackers during my stay here in Noosa. It ...

		<description>Wednesday 23rd February – Noosa, Australia
It’s often evident on my travels that I don’t spend nearly enough time in any one place to form an educated or accurate opinion of anywhere, and I wanted Australia to be different. I wanted to live in each place I went, learning about the local ways and traditions, testing the water for any future possibility in settling in such a place. I guess culture isn’t really evident here in OZ, and it certainly doesn’t take long to adjust to each new town or city, ...

		<description>Tuesday 22nd February – Brisbane, Australia
Having spent a large part of yesterday playing cat and mouse to the weather, I had hoped for a more settled day to enable me to complete my tour of Brisbane City. I wasn’t entirely sure how much there was left to see, but if the weather was dry enough for most of the day, I could easily fit everything in.
I made a discovery this morning that left me feeling both happy and stupid at the same time. Up until now I have been taking ...

		<description>Monday 21st February – Brisbane, Australia
So far for me Australia has been living up to its name. From beautiful beaches and chilled out people, to shark scares and jellyfish stings. I had witnessed the stormy weather in Newcastle, but nothing could have prepared me for today. I was in Brisbane, it was my first day, and I had set out on a mammoth walking tour of the city.
I used my Lonely Planet to work out a route as outlined in the book. There was a clear starting point, and a ...

		<description>Sunday 20th February – Byron Bay, Australia
I had only the day left in Byron Bay before setting off again further up the coast. My travel was due to commence at 8pm, so a last day at the beach was all I had in mind today. The weather was glorious, so that was a good sign. Having seemingly been close to a shark the previous day, I wasn’t expecting any more drama today, but I was wrong.
I left my bags at the hostel today whilst enjoying myself at the beach. My ...

		<description>Saturday 19th February – Byron Bay, Australia
Before coming to Australia, all people could talk about was Byron Bay and how I must go there, if nowhere else. It’s the place everyone has on their itinerary, and the place where most people end up having the best time. I couldn’t really see why as yet, but a day on the beach might help to convince me, so this is what I had planned for today.
I began by booking my onward journey, and my next destination, and once complete, the day was ...

<description>The adventure capital of the world is quite possibly New Zealand. However, the land of bungy jumping, zorbing, white-water and black-water rafting, surfing, skydiving and heliskiing is rather far away from Europe. With the flight costing close to £1000 there is little budget left for the actual activities, let alone accommodation and food.

Turkey on the other hand is much closer to home and considerably cheaper, not just in terms of getting there – you can get a flight for less than £150 – and accommodation, but the activities themselves ...
