Whether it be walking, running, cycling or rowing we’re asking you to collect sponsorship money from family and friends and clock up some miles. You can enter as a team (of up to four people) with the aim of continuous cardio workout for 7 hours split between you, or take part in the Miles for Fun challenge, walking, running or skipping your way around the quay side.

Hiltons across the country will be feeding in how many miles have been achieved, with the aim to have enough miles throughout the day to have travelled the world.

After you have taken part and worked up an appetite, you will be invited to the Heroes Reception, where you will be presented with a medal and treated to a buffet dinner.

So dust off your trainers, step up to the challenge and raise vital funds for Roundabout.

Roundabout are leading the Support Works Scheme, helping young people who access our services to find employment.

Michael (pictured, looking smart for his interview) has taken part in the scheme and had his first interview last week.

We are delighted to say that Michael’s interview went well and he has been invited back to speak to the employer. Well done Michael!

We invited young people, staff and supporters to join us in celebrating what we have achieved over the last year, and to hear more about our exciting plans for the future.

We were delighted to see so many familiar and new faces on the night and have the opportunity to speak about our plans to refurbish our emergency hostel. A presentation about what we hope the hostel will look like was given by some of the young people we support, and we also showed a video of our recent inter-generational project, run with Silent Cities. Supporter of Roundabout and Former Wednesday Chairman and founder of Plusnet, Lee Strafford also gave a motivational and heartfelt speech about his experiences.  

We would like to say a huge thank you and well done to our young people for presenting on the night, to Jordon, our brilliant host and to Lee Strafford for his continued support.

We look forward to seeing you all again next year!

We invited Paul to become our Patron because of the interest and passion he had shown for the work we do,  in his time as Leader of Sheffield City Council.

Paul’s first contact with Roundabout was at a community consultation event where a group of young people from our hostel were enthusiastically having their say. Following this first encounter, Paul took the time to come and visit Roundabout on several occasions.

Paul says  “As Leader of the Council I was introduced to many charities but Roundabout was the one that grabbed my attention and I have a personal attachment to the charity, as the issues facing these young people could happen to anyone.”

“Youth homelessness is very real in Sheffield and meeting the staff and young people at Roundabout instantly confirmed for me that this was the charity I wanted to get involved with. The run is just the start.”

They were all nice and not how i expected, they all accepted me into there little family and i felt wanted again. i feel that without being in roundabout and them giving me the support i needed i really dont know where id be right now. i give my thanks to all the staff working at roundabout and hope they are a success for many years to come. thanks you.

Music and video created by the young people at Roundabout’s homeless hostel and the older people’s supported accommodation across the road at St Barnabas House.

We wanted to bring the two groups together in an inter-generational project which got the two groups talking to each other and where they could then create something together.

We ran a ‘speed-dating’ style session with the young and old, using prompt cards such as ‘what does love feel like’ and ‘do you believe in life after death’, then recorded these conversations. One of the young people from the hostel then took samples of some of these conversations and turned them into a song in just five hours in the studio.

We then brought the old and young groups back together at Silent Cities office, split them into pairs – one older person and one younger person, and gave them each a flip camera and 10 seconds of the song each to create content for a music video.

We also had an artist in residence who encouraged them to draw what they felt whilst listening to the song. We also used images from these pictures in the music video. The music video was also edited with the help of one of the young people who had a particular talent in this area.

And here is the result.

The project was funded by Awards for All, and was a joint collaboration with Silent Cities and Roundabout Homeless, both based in Sheffield.
