The loss of Roxy hit us all pretty hard. She left a huge void in our lives. After a week of returning to an empty home after work, or sitting eating, or watching TV without the ever present Roxy, we realised that she'd enriched our lives so much that life without a companion wasn't an option. We had to say goodbye to Roxy today. I feel totally crushed, she was my best friend and the most affectionate friend you could ever wish for. She passed peacefully at home laying out in the sunshine this afternoon and without any indication there was anything wrong. In a way I'm glad that she went on her own terms and left me without having to make that tough decision many dog owners must.

And that's mostly good news. I still have the regular seizures. Sometimes weeks, sometimes months apart and still unpredictable. But we all just deal with it these days. It's hard to watch and not very pleasant I'm sure. But when it happens I'm not really there at all. It's not until afterwards when I notice it takes it's toll. And not much to say really. Seizures are still with me and happen as randomly as they always do. Can be a month between or three months, can be a one off seizure or a weekend cluster. This week I decided to keep dad up all night on Sunday, but not with the usual seizure goings on. I just wouldn't leave my ear alone. I spent all night scratching at it. You couldn't plan for it... I make a post on here and then within an hour off I go into a seizure on my new bed. Dad had to come and mop up which was pretty easy with the new bed. Then he prepared the living room so if I went into one at night I wouldn't go crashing into stuff. Just typical.

Well things are going well since the last round of seizures. I guess we're waiting on the next cluster as it's over due. But let's not worry about that until it happens. A bit of a medication increase in the KBr to 5 x 325mg tablets twice a day and still with 180mg Epiphen twice a day - that's 8 tablets! After the vet phoned dad with the results of the blood test - no big surprises, the KBr and Epiphen levels are well within the therapeutic range. The vet also said she was reluctant to increase my dosage on either drug as I'm taking a relatively high dose already. The risk is we then start getting negative side affects that outweigh the required effects of the drugs anyhow. So the outcome was

Blood test day! We got there in plenty of time and sat in the waiting room, which was pretty empty. Dad weighed me (50.4kgs) and the chart on the wall said "Is your dog the correct weight?".
