Royal Enfield Launches Classic 350 Stormrider Sand and Airborne Blue with Dual Channel ABS

Royal Enfield has launched their first ever motorcycles Stormrider Sand and Airborne Blue which is equipped with dual channel ABS in India. This is in the form of Classic 350 special edition. This new special edition is called Classic Signals Edition.

The new Royal Enfield Classic 350 Stormrider Sand has been inspired by the men and motorcycles serving in the Indian Army at the border outposts in desert regions.

The new Royal Enfield Classic 350 Airborne Blue. It pays tribute to those serving in the Indian Air Force. The new Royal Enfield Classic Signals 350 pays tribute to the Indian Armed Forces.

Unlike Pegasus 500 which was only limited to 250 units which sold in a matter of just 178 seconds which left many buyers wanting for more but left invain. Those hardcore bullet lovers can now have their hands on Royal Enfield new Classic 350 Stormrider Sand and Airborne Blue with Dual Channel ABS. Royal Enfield announced the launch of their first ever motorcycle in India with dual channel ABS.

Considering that there is a huge demand for motorcycles which are marketed as ‘inspired from Armed Forces’, expect the Royal Enfield 350 Classic Signals to garner more sales for the Indian motorcycle brand ahead of the festive season.

New Royal Enfield 350 Classic Signals edition launch price is pegged at Rs 1.62 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune). That puts it at a premium of Rs 15,000 over the standard 350 variant. Classic Signals edition is not a limited offering but each bike will be numbered prominently on the tank.

These bikes have an exclusive paint scheme and offered in 2 colour choices called Stormrider Sand and Airborne Blue. A tall windscreen and panniers are on offer as accessories. 350 Classic Signals edition features a brown/tan seat and all-black finish for most other visible bits – engine, frame, wheels, exhaust, and handlebar and headlight bezel.

The new addition also gets a wind deflector in the front.

Classis 350 is the best selling Royal Enfield. The RE 350 was available in 7 colour options of Ash, Chestnut, Silver, Black, Redditch Red, Redditch Green, and Redditch Blue. With today’s launch, the RE 350 is available in two more colours of Stormrider Sand (Indian Army inspired) and Airborne Blue (Indian Air Force inspired).

Royal Enfield 350 ABS can be bought from any dealership across India. Soon, Royal Enfield will offer ABS on all their motorcycles in India. Expect the same to happen by February 2019.

Royal Enfield Three new custom 650cc twins

Royal Enfield unveiled three custom motorcycles based on its yet-to-be-launched twin-cylinder platform. These bikes (Lock Stock, Rohini and Interceptor) were displayed at the seventh edition of the Wheels and Waves custom bike show in France.

The Lock Stock and Rohini have used the Continental GT 650 as the platform, while the Interceptor – as the name suggests – has used the Interceptor 650 as its platform.

1) Lock Stock – by Royal Enfield

The LockStock is based on Royal Enfield’s first ever 650-cc engine that will power the upcoming Interceptor and the Continental GT 650. The bike has been transformed into a high-performance dragster. Most of the parts that we see on the bike have been replaced with newer customised parts except for the fuel tank and the engine.

2) Rohini – by Young Guns Speed Shop

The Young Guns Speed Shop has taken the café racer approach to this build. The bike features a strange but interesting paint job that takes inspiration from India’s space program and the Rohini satellites. The bulbous café racer fairing, the flat seat and the boxy tail section give the motorcycle a retro appearance. The bike is finished in bare aluminium and has reflective paint on some of the body work.

3) The Interceptor – by Old Empire Motorcycles

Old Empire Motorcycles decided to take a different approach to their model. They took an interceptor 650 and took off all of the parts they found unnecessary. The bike features a deep metallic red paint job and a leather seat. This bike also has a lowered stance and a blacked-out motor, which make it look aggressive. Another nice touch is how the custom bike maker has hidden away the bike's wires and cables. This Interceptor also comes fitted with keyless ignition, replacing the metal key one would find on a regular Interceptor.

Initially you will see that new scrambler has been redesigned and recreated so many times which came out to be a masterpiece afterwards. The motorcycle looks like a complete scrambler with all the off-roading capabilities. Every aspect of stock bike has been changed in terms of looks let it be headlight, tank paint, rear look, seat etc. The front head light is LED which gives a complete character to the bike which is protected with metal protector which further consists of small LED which gives it entirely new face.

The original fairing has been done away with and the motorcycle also gets a new handlebar. The original fuel tank seems to have been retained but has been given a new dual-tone colour scheme. Also, it looks like the original instrumentation has been retained. Another highlight of the side profile is the new seat, which is much smaller than the twin-seat setup of the stock motorcycle. However, the biggest talking point here is the new exhaust system that has been set higher than the original unit. Also, the motorcycle seems to have got slightly wider rubber along with new paint for the spoke wheels.

The side profile attracts alot as the SCRAM212 loses its rear fender resulting in enhanced offroad capability with a custom tail light which give it much leaner look than usual. We appreciate the work done by Motokraft to bring out the best out of Himalayan. The SCRAM12 as seen in video give aggressive looks than stock and we really hope all the much needed perfomance enhancements done are done by them to create a masterpiece.

Royal Enfield Cruise Control for just Rs 30 - Watch how a passionate rider Did it!

In this video you will see how a passionate Royal Enfield Rider or a Bulleteer has designed and fabricated the cheapest cruise control which can be installed on any bike.

He shows this piece of metal, that has been bent to fit over the handle of the bike while the other end is hooked to clip over the brake. An adjustable nut and bolt fits in place to adjust the tension and the bike is ready to go.

Designed to fit over any bike, the grip and lever combination allows the biker to adjust tension and even remove it from the bike when not in use. It is versatile enough to fit onto any bike and offers ultra low cost cruise control.

KTM Duke 390 Upside Down in Middle of Road After Accident

In this video you will see how you bang straight away when you move your attention away from road. Rider being at speed of 50-80 kmph riding in medium traffic suddenly bangs in the car which just stopped in the middle of the road for god knows what reason. Unfortunately rider's eyes were off the road and he hit the bumper which makes him fall but what make me surprised is that KTM lies on road upside down.

Rider also thanked the lady in the video who reacted first and helped him through the situation.

Later you can see two guys took initaitive and bring back KTM to normal position as how it meant to be on road.

Upcoming Royal Enfield Scrambler leaked images surfaced the Internet | Royal Enfield Bullet CLUB

Royal Enfield Scrambler Leaked Images Surfaced the Internet. Yet not cleared if it is a new model to be launched by Royal Enfield or a modification being done at workshop. However it really seems a Scrambler as Bike is completely stock with upswept stock exhaust which makes us curios about this.

Other noticeable things in this picture is a sporty rear mudguard and rubber fork covers which were usually seen in Bullet Electra Deluxe Export Models.

Previously when Thunderbird 350/500x images were leaked nobody believed them as it looked like a modification done on stock Thunberbird however when launched it turned out to be a heartthrob.

ROYAL ENFIELD 650 TWIN CUSTOM MOTORCYCLE DRAGSTER UNVEILED - "THE LOCKSTOCK"

A couple of days ago, At an event organised by The Bike Shed, Royal Enfield unveiled a purpose-built dragster based on the 650cc twins. Featuring a long, low-slung design the LockStock shares its engine and fuel tank with the Continental GT 650. These seem to be the only parts shared with the standard bike – the frame, cycle parts and body panels all differ from the Continental GT.

The LockStock is based on Royal Enfield’s first ever 650-cc engine that will power the upcoming Interceptor and the Continental GT 650. The bike has been transformed into a high-performance dragster. Most of the parts that we see on the bike have been replaced with newer customised parts except for the fuel tank and the engine.

The face of the motorcycle is formed by a neat-looking LED ring housed in what appears to be a carbon-fibre front screen. The front mudguard extends quite far forward and closely hugs the tyre. Two bulbous belly pan units are present on either side of the bike, and these house its large exhaust exits.

With Exceptional and aggressive looks, LockStock sees changes in every part right from the chassis, seat design, handlebar and headlamps. Body panels and rims along with tyres and suspension have also been given a makeover with the modifiers only retaining the engine and fuel tank from its stock Continental GT 650. LockStock sports a single seat with drop bar handlebars. And a most attractive parts is the ring on the fornt which is appreciated much by RE Fans.

The front suspension has been replaced with new upside down ones from Ohlins. The suspension is set at the minimum height to ensure precision riding and reduce the bike’s height for a lower centre of gravity. A steering damper from the chassis has been attached to the suspension. It will keep the bike stable at high speeds and will eliminate the tank slapper. It also gets a new handlebar which allows the rider to sit close to the tank and make the bike more streamlined at high speed.

Propulsion comes from the 648cc parallel-twin engine seen on the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. In stock form, this motor puts out 48hp at 7,100rpm and 52Nm of torque at 4,000rpm when mated to a six-speed gearbox. Although it would be wise to expect a very different state of tune, especially since the LockStock also carries what seems to be a nitrous can behind its engine.

Prices in Australia have been revealed at AUD 10,000 (INR 5 lakhs) and AUD 10,400 (INR 5.24 lakhs) respectively. It will rival the Harley Davidson 750.

Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Edition 2018 Unveiled | Limited Edition

Royal Enfield has now unveiled a new limited edition variant of the Classic 500 in the UK. The Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Edition, the new variant is inspired from the legendary flying flea 125 model of Royal Enfield England and pays homage to the Royal Enfield RE/WD 125 motorcycle which was used by British paratroopers during World War II.

The RE/WD or Fluing Flea 125 were air-dropped at battlefields. The lightweight, 2-stroke motorcycle was popular among messengers as they could carry the bike on their shoulders when the trenches were too deep to be ridden over. It was deployed behind enemy lines via parachutes and onboard the Horsa Glider to provide communications support along with acting as a quick mobility platform for the forward units of the Airborne Pegasus Over 4,000 were deployed across various theatres of war, including in Normandy during D-Day.

Only 1000 units of the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Edition will be manufactured and just 250 units will go on sale in India. The limited edition motorcycle has been priced at GBP 4,999 (approx. Rs 4.56 lakh) in the UK market and we expect the 500 Pegasus to retail for around Rs 2 lakh (ex-showroom) in our country.

The New Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Edition gets military canvas panniers and these look identical to the units used during World War II. In order to do justice to the World War II treatment, the new Pegasus Edition has been fitted with blacked out exhaust, headlamp bezel, air filter and rims. Each model has a unique number on the fuel tank to offer a distinct identity.

The limited edition motorcycle will feature a Pegasus logo on the fuel tank. Adding to the period look are the military-style canvas panniers, leather strap with brass buckles on the air box, and tank badge as used on the Flying Flea. Taking the retro theme ahead are the blacked out elements like the exhaust muffler, engine, rims, handlebar and headlight bezel. Internationally, the Classic 500 Pegasus will be offered in two colour options - Olive Drab Green and Service Brown, and only the brown shade will be sold in India. The engine case and the swingarm have also been painted in the same shade as the body colour. All the motorcycles will carry a unique serial number which will be stencilled on the fuel tank.

Although, the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Edition is identical to the Classic 500 Export Model in terms of powering the motorcycle is a 499 cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine delivering 27.6hp at 5250 rpm and 41.3Nm of peak torque at 4000 rpm. The cycle parts and 194kg kerb weight also remain identical to the Classic 500.

Abhayjit Mehlawat covered a total distance of 5 km (3.1 miles) and included 10 reverse positions in his routine!

There are three world records which were successfully created by the Daredevils led by Capt Abhayjit Mehlawat on January 29, 2013. These included 'longest hands free riding on a zigzag track while standing on a seat of a motorcycle', 'fastest human pyramid of 10 men on two motorcycles' and 'fastest human pyramid of 30 men on three motorcycles' in 2013.

Stunts performed by Abhayjit Mehlawat and their team involve high degree of precision to split second and inevitable risk.

Harmininder Singh is the winner of Royal Enfield Desert Storm ridden by Farhaan Akhtar in the movie Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.

“The contest was our way of celebrating the spirit of epic journeys that we frequently see in our fans and customers. The Bhaag Milkha Bhaag contest provided these enthusiasts with a platform to tell their hitherto untold stories of their own odysseys”, said Shaji Koshy, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Royal Enfield.

The Winning Odyssey
In Harmininder’s words, “This odyssey ended on 25th Feb, 2013 back in Chandigarh after 11000kms, almost 50 days, bruised knees and ankles, chapped skin, tanned arms, but a very bright smile on face. We had accomplished our dream of touching the youth of the nation.” You see, the aim Harmininder Singh and his cousin, Bupinder Singh set out with was, “Visiting various colleges holding discussions with students to research what is going on in their minds”, about Social, Political, and Cultural issues.

They interacted with faculty and students regarding the social structure of their institutions with respect to various social issues, like female foeticide, inclusive education and special children. “In 50 days we visited 15 states and almost 25 colleges; interacting with youth… we kept on realizing the truth of society.”
The journey wasn’t easy, in fact, “We were called ‘insane’ by many; who rides a bike in this cold weather? The questions came from all directions, but determination and will made us carry on… We were low on money but high on spirits… We slept on roadsides at times, ate with locals, got chased by police and dogs, fought with drunkards had to hide in trees, but it all was exciting and lovely. The spirit of the road and zeal of adventure, combined with a mission and heart to take everything as it comes made us go on.” This spirit is what every true Royal Enfield rider identifies with.
His interactions with students across the country led him to this, “We had their point of view and realized the real reason which is driving them insane is the fact that they lack a direction and are in search of it with the help of misdirected means. We are now in a process of starting a youth based international magazine. This journey taught me about the realities of the world and road. Both are identical, if faced with confidence you can conquer both. While watching Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, I could identify with his problems at every step with ours on the journey, and his confidence with ours every time.”
As for his motorcycle on the journey, “150cc bike, Loved it, but power was a problem.” And so is thrilled to be presented with the Royal Enfield Desert Storm 500cc.

Harmininder Singh’s entry stood out from the rest because of how layered his experience was, and how inspiring his story is to everyone who comes in contact with it. Just as Milkha Singh repeatedly overcame hurdles along the way to achieve what he had set out to, this expedition was no easy task.

Themed around ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag this consumer engagement campaign attempted to bring to the fore the spirit of self-discovery and enterprising Odyssey that has long been the essence of the Royal Enfield brand and its loyal enthusiasts.

Three variants of Royal Enfield Continental GT Spotted

Recently three variants of Royal Enfield Continental GT were spotted and pictures were posted on Royal Enfield Group ( http://goo.gl/JkZOu ). The three different variants can be distinguished on the basis of three different types of seats installed in all the three.

The Continental GT 535cc is inspired from its ancestors from Europe, which was launched in 1965, a 21 bhp (16 kW) variant called the GT Continental, with GRP tank, five-speed gearbox , clip-on handlebars and rearset footrests, was launched. It sold well with its "Cafe Racer" looks. The Continental GT 535cc has the same old school charm and racing characteristics inheriting most of the looks and styling from 1965 Continental GT.

The motorcycle will be powered by a 535cc single cylinder, four stroke, liquid cooled UCE engine. The Royal Enfield Continental GT Cafe Racer which is scheduled to be released in the end of 2013 is with the first new chassis to be released by the Indian motorcycle manufacturer in 50 years. Along with the new chassis Royal Enfield have added a selection of performance upgrades and Cafe Racer styled parts you won't find on any other motorcycle in their current line up.

Along with the 535cc single-cylinder unit, a selection of performance upgrades and Cafe Racer styled parts, this new Continental GT is the first bike ever to have been completely designed in india with no parts lifted from the historic engine models of the past.

The Company is testing the models with different upgrades (i.e Black Silencer which has never been used on any RE bike before and three different Seat variants) which can suit best to the Indian Road Conditions. One more feature which amazed that it comes with adjustable rider foot pegs.

Royal Enfield Monsoon Maintenance Tips 2014

“If you don’t ride in rain, you don’t ride.” – This quote that has that much inspiration to make every Bulleteer ride into the rain once. But before riding in rain are you sure that your Bullet will bear the rain or would it be a safe ride???

In rain your Bullet needs as much as maintenance as you take of yourself. Monsoon time care is very important as far as Bullet is concerned. As we all want our Bulls in good working condition and moreover rough ‘n’ tough. So here are some Monsoon Maintenance Tips for Royal Enfield which will help you to get rid of minor issues caused by rain and dirt.

Let’s start with

TYRES:

Keeping your tyres in good shape is very important during monsoons. Tyres play a very important role during monsoons as it saves you from fatal injuries preventing slipping of the bike in wet areas and making you not to fall off from your bullet. If the tyres are worn out or grip is poor , make sure to replace the tyres before hitting the wet road during monsoon.

To check the tread depth of the tyre use any thin component or coin to check the depth as front tyre must have 2mm tread depth and rear tyre must have 2-3 mm tread depth which is fair enough to provide you a good grip on wet roads. Depth less than the above mentioned range will lead to slipping of bullet due to sudden braking or cornering.

Tyre pressure has a huge effect on the grip you get on wet road. Tyre pressure should be few psi below the recommended tyre pressure.The recommended tyre pressure for 18” tyres is 20psi front and 30psi rear while in 19” tyres 22psi front and 32 psi rear. Check the tyre pressure regularly.

While changing or checking your tyres, go through your spokes. If they are broken or missing one or two, replace them. Check both the wheels for alignment as an out of alignment wheel will make riding much more dangerous on wet roads, even more so when cornering. Paint the inner area of the rims with red oxide primer to prevent rims from rusting. Tubes with more than 2 punctures should be replaced with new one as you can keep the old tube as backup.

BRAKES:

Make one thing clear that braking hard on wet roads will increase the chances of slipping tyres on wet road. Always apply brakes softly to avoid any mishap.

Lets first talk about the drum brakes-

Drum brakes once water filled into it does not work at all. If your bike was standing into rain there are chances that your front brakes will not work until you ride few meters and water gets out of the drum. There are also chances of front drum brakes getting jammed not because of the brake shoes or brake cable but because of the cam that drives them.

Running your bike on old worn out pads or liners, or a brake that is not very effective and can lead to disaster. To avoid jamming dismantle the from brake assembly replace the brake shoes if worn out, clean up cam with petrol and after that apply grease properly so that it moves properly. Replace the cable if it is too old as effort of brake cable also increases on wet roads. Get the whole drum cleaned up with the sand paper properly so that brake shoes will get more traction with drum and let friction does her work properly.

Same applies for the rear brake also. Dismantle the rear wheel and hub and follow the same instructions.

Disc Brakes-

Disc Brakes does not need that much maintenance as that of Drum Brakes. Make sure that your disc pads aren’t worn out and brake oil is at level.

CHAIN:

Chain is a very important part of any motorcycle as if there is no chain there is no ride. In Royal Enfield Unlike other bikes the chain is exposed to dirt and air. In rain chain gets really messy as all the dirt from rain gets sticked to it. To clean the chain and make it work properly you have to do some effort. Remove the chain from the machine and dip it in clean

petrol/diesel for 2-3 hrs. Then use the plastic bristle brush for cleaning the mud out of it, and then again dip it in petrol/diesel for few minutes and re-wash it in clean petrol/diesel. You can either use grease or chain spray to re-lubricate it for its better function. Grease is economical as spray is a bit costly but isn’t if 4 riders buying one. Lubricate the chain properly as all the joints get greased properly. Now install the chain properly and give a last lubrication to it.

Once the above process you can re-lubricate the chain without removing it from bullet. Keep the chain a bit loose to avoid damage to your sprockets. There should be tension of about 1/2 an inch to 3/4th of an inch. Clean and lubricate it twice a week during the monsoons as a lot of mud will accumulate on it.

CONTACT BREAKER POINT:

Bulleteers having Cast Iron Engine Bullets with Contact Breaker Points make sure that you have a clean Contact Breaker points with properly greased up point plates. Adjust the gap as per the settings , don’t adjust it if you don’t know how much gap needs to be set. After greasing up close the cover. Buy an after market Rubber cap for CB point unit. It plays very important role in rain as it prevents any drop of water entering into the CB point unit and not letting your Bullet - miss a beat.

AIRFILTER:

Before hitting the wet roads and rain falling all over make sure that your Bull is breathing properly and effectively. Old Air Filter must be full of dust and impurities so clean it up better get a new one. It took out all the dirt and impurities from air just to make your bullet alive now its time to pay attention to the caretaker or airtaker. Sorry got emotional….. lol ;)

CONTROL CABLES:

All Control Cables works really fine before they break-up in the middle of the road. So if Control Cables haven’t been changed for a while now it’s a good time to do it. But before replacing old cables a small effort need to be made, you should oil them before the installation . To oil the hold the cable upside down put some drops of oil into it and start moving the tail of cable and down so that oil applies to all the portion of cable and outer, this will help it work smoothly even if water enters the cable. Make sure doing it to every cable as will make a smooth operation of all cables in harsh conditions.

SPARK PLUGS:

There is always a danger of a plug being short no matter how long or how short the ride is. Always keep a spare plug with you whenever you ride in rain. Make sure that the spark plug cap is properly tightened with the spark plug wire and spark plug cap gets completely attached to the spark plug. Always use a genuine spark plug cap to prevent water from entering into it.

ELECTICALS:

Check all the wiring joints, check the battery electrolyte level, grease up the battery terminals. Clean all the copper terminals with sand paper (including battery terminals). Check all the connections or joints made after you installed horns or other accessories, rejoin them all and tape them properly. Check if all the Indicator bulbs, meter bulb, indicator indication bulb (in meter), high beam indication bulb, ammeter bulb and headlight bulb are working if not change the non-working bulbs. Tape all the terminals exposed i.e Horn relay and Horn terminals etc.

Create a mixture of oil and petrol and put a drop in kill switch, headlight/pilotlight switch, high/low beam switch and indicator switch for their smooth operation in rain.

Cover all the major electrical joints with plastic bags as ammeter connector (clearly visible when you tilt the handlebar towards left) and ignition switch connector (clearly visible when you tilt the handlebar right). Rectifier, Regulator and Flasher joints below the seat. Cover Rectifier, Regulator and Flasher as well to avoid any short circuit or failure.

Always keep an extra pair of fuse to replace the short ones.

CHROME:

Chrome has been a very important part of Royal Enfield Bullets in India. As they say – “The Beauty of the Motorcycle lies in the Chrome”. There are numerous ways to protect chromed parts of Royal Enfield and number of anti rust sprays available online or after market spare part shops which works really well.

Let us make you one thing clear that Engine is not chromed, it is buffed and the process is called Buffing. And parts like Silencer, Bend Pipe, Head Lamp Ring, Leg guard etc. are the chromed parts and the process is called Nickel Electroplating.

Anti-rust sprays are for chromed parts of Royal Enfields as they gets corroded but buffed part gets dull, so there are different ways to protect them.

Keep in mind that the dirt is chrome’s enemy. Whenever you ride in rain lots of dirt gets stick to silencer and other parts like inner mudguards etc. After reaching home make sure that you remove all the dirt sticks to the chromed parts using wet cloth or water spray. Use nickel powder on engine as well as chromed parts to make them shine back at its best.

Those Bulleteers who are thinking of re-buffing or re-chrome the parts after monsoon should think twice as there is a lot of difference in Company and After Market process in terms of Quality. If you go for re-buffing or re-chrome it decreases the lifespan of the part effectively plus it won’t last longer as the genuine parts.

PAINT:

In rain not some parts but whole bike gets affected as water reaches everywhere with dirt as its company. So do wash your bike properly after riding it in rain for few days. Use a decent shampoo with a high pressure water spray to remove excess dirt from the bike. If you think you had a really bad ride with dirt sticking all over the paint, wash it with plain water just to remove the dirt from the bull.

If you have Teflon coating on your bike you don’t have to worry much about it as won’t let rain damaging the paint as it could without the coating.

GENERAL TIPS:

· Clean your carburetor to remove any impurities or water entered. Replace carburetor gasket and packing if worn out.

· Keep the spark plug gap adjusted and clean for a smooth ride.

· Keep the tyre pressure 2-3 psi below the normal pressure as mentioned above in Tyres section.

· Make sure that all the nuts & bolts are tightened properly.

· Oil or Grease each and every joint of Royal Enfield Bullet for its smooth movement.

· Check that all the bulbs are working properly and always keep a spare headlight, brake light and indicator bulb.

· Make sure that you have all the basic tools in your Bull to open up the parts if water enters in them.

· Check all the air filter rubber hoses for any holes or wearing out issues and immediately replace them if worn out.

· Tape all the electrical wiring joints or cover them with plastic bags.

· Check the rear shocker and swing arm rubber bushes for any damages as if swing arm bush wears out it will result in shaky rear wheel.

ROYAL ENFIELD COMMENCES COMMERCIAL PRODUCTION FROM THE ORAGADAM MANUFACTURING FACILITY

Rolling out the first motorcycle from the Oragadam plant, Mr Siddhartha Lal, MD & CEO, Eicher Motors Ltd. in the outskirts of Chennai. This is Royal Enfield’s second production facility and has been constructed at an investment of Rs 150 crore for the first phase of the facility.

The new 50-acre plant which is almost five times bigger from the original plat of Royal Enfield will significantly reduce waiting periods on Enfield bikes, however, even as we start commercial production today with the target of 175,000 motorcycles this year of 2013, “we have already begun working on the second phase of expansion at Oragadam, which will further increase the production capacity to 250,000 motorcycles in 2014." said Mr. Siddharth Lal.

Last year, the company sold 1,13,000 units, and it has grown by over 50% over the last

couple of years.

Siddhartha Lal, managing director and CEO, Eicher Motors Ltd. said, “We have re-tooled many of the parts that make up our motorcycles – so that they are of exacting accuracy and finish. The ability to increase capacity fast is a crucial step for Royal Enfield towards meeting our global ambitions. While we are adding new models and new dealerships in the Indian market, we are also working on building our presence globally.”

A new CED (Cathodic Electrocoat Deposition) paint shop with a capacity of 600 motorcycles per day has been set up. Further, a robotic painting system and powder coating system have

also been employed to reduce wastage.

The new plant will help Royal Enfield to improve the quality of its motorcycles and reach out to new global markets. Built in 11 months, the Oragadam plant has been designed to optimize cost of production through relevant automation while retaining the human craftsmanship that is distinct to the iconic Royal Enfield motorcycles, the company said.

At the same time, processes such as the pin-striping continue to be done through craftsmen

who lend that special human touch to each motorcycle. The vehicle assembly line at Oragadam comes with several features such as ergonomic assembly work stations, torque controlled tools with feedback device and a capacity of producing one motorcycle a minute or over 800 per day on two shifts. Effective controls and process, right from material handling to review mechanisms, have been created on the backbone of a modern and strong IT infrastructure.

In addition, chassis dynamometers and a 1.4 kilometre test track within the factory premises allows for the motorcycles to be thoroughly tested before they are dispatched for customers.

The second plant would initially begin with the production of Desert Storm and Thunderbird vehicles. By the end of the year, the company expected to produce the entire range, including the Bullet and Classic, he said. Construction of the facility began in February 2012. Trial production began in January this year. Royal Enfield already has a plant in Tiruvottriyur near here. Pointing out that the U.S. was the largest export market for Royal Enfield, Mr. Lal said that last year the company shipped about 3,500 units to the country out of the total 1,13,000 units sold.

The Oragadam facility has been built with sustainability in mind from the very beginning of the design stage with several initiatives such as reduction of effluent generation at source and zero liquid discharge system of treatment. In addition conservation of resources such as electricity, water and fuel has been given top priority. Even during the construction stage, the green concept was applied such as using soil from within the site for filling, as well as using the ideal quantities of steel, concrete and cement. The focus was also on creating efficient work spaces, equipment and utilities and hence effective use of natural, diffused lighting, natural air flow inside plant and 25% of wooded area have been ensured.

Recently Royal Enfield showcased its 2013 Cafe Racer at the ‘Long Beach Motorcycle Show’ held in California. It was first launched in 2012 Auto Expo in India but was overshadowed by the unveiling of their new Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500.

Marco Möller, the man behind this masterpiece says-

“There is nothing standard about the Royal Enfield Bullet “Standard 500″ apart from the engine."

Marco Moller has poured his heart out in dressing the magnificent lady with jewellery fit for a queen. Hind Ki Rani it truly is.

When Arnab asked about “HIND KI RANI” and what made you come up with the Indian theme? he replies- “This bike came into my life out of no where. I just saw her ailing in my former bosses’ front yard one day, and I wanted to have her, I wanted her real bad. I guess it was just like finding a starving puppy on the streets, taking it to your house with the intention of giving it a chance for a better life. So I took her home, and I’ve started working on her the very next day. She’s a ’94 Royal Enfield, Standard Bullet 500 made in India. I’ve been studying about Enfields’ on the net for many nights, and I’ve learned that I was owning a bike with a whole great history. I saw men worshiping their Enfields’ like I’ve never seen it before, so I simply had to treasure and keep it what it was… An Indian Legend!”

“I just wanted something personal, something that would connect me with the bike more than it already did. So I chose to copy a few of my own tattoos, and now there is my story written all over her! Since I respectfully named her ”Hind Ki Rani” (Queen of India), the “Indian touch” came along while getting my hands dirty on her all by itself. But I guess, the fact that I’ve been traveling to India quite a lot, could have been a little bit of an influence as well.”

Arnab : Since all the artwork was done by hand, why don’t you tell us about it. It was not outsourced but done by you in your garage. How did you do that?

Marco : I wouldn’t call it art work, I’m just a guy who’s trying to change the look of some things so they would fit into my world better. In fact it all started with just polishing up a few after market parts which I got in Delhi. Looking at a better finish now, I thought why not spend a little more time and give it a unique appearance, so no-one else at all would have something similar on their bikes. At that point I remembered seeing a documentary about an almost extinct craftsmanship, metal hand engraving. That’s when I decided getting the tools that I thought I’d need, and I gave it a shot. While trying on my very first piece I got totally exited and kind of carried away. I’ve worked and practiced till late night hours every day. I figured out how to work with hammer and chisel instantly, but that was not the end of it. It had to be more than just engraving patterns into a surface. It had to be something more
alive. Alive like something in 3D. I haven’t mastered it yet, but I’m working hard on it.

“There will always be something to do and improve on the Bullet. My next project is a Triumph Bonneville which I purchased recently, followed by a friend’s Sportster. Wish me luck!” when Marco asked, “Any more plans on her or any other bike on the works?”

Thankfully, most of the reactions have been very positive and very motivating too. I think that it’s because engraved bikes are not that common in Dubai. Yet!

About 80% of Royal Enfield UCE owners have same question in their mind that "How can i increase the thump in my new Royal Enfield UCE?"

Due to exhaust emissions, pollution norms and taking care of international standards for export models Royal Enfield Developed an engine inspired from International Market – “The Unit Construction Engine” which is a Euro IV compliant engine.

However, as exhaust emissions get tighter by the day, so do the noise limitations. In order to achieve both and do so comfortably, the modern Enfield has an engine of unit construction (engine & gearbox in one unit).

Thunderbird 500: Royal Enfield Targetting IT Professionals

Royal Enfield recently said it was targetting IT professionals in the leading metros and various cities for its new launch-- Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500.

'The 20-30 age group people are our main customers. We are selling the bikes mainly in metros and cities likes Hyderabad, Bangalore, Thiruvanantahpuram and Kochi where there is a large IT crowd', Shaji Koshy, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Royal Enfield said.

He was talking to reporters here after launching the bikes in the Kerala market.

"Thunderbird 500 is poised to enhance the pleasure of leisure motocycling amongst tourist enthusiasts with a powerful 500 cc unit engine, 27.2 bhp power output being fed through an electronic fuel injection system and 41.3 Nm torque built in for very accessible power", he said.

The company was looking at new markets like Sri Lanka which has just opened up for the 450 cc bikes, he said.

Last year, Royal Enfield entered the Brazilian and Colombian markets and presently exports to at least 40 countries. This includes 600 bikes a month to US and 500 units to Europe.

On the Kerala market, he said as compared to sales of 300 bikes a month in the state three years ago, the company was now were selling 700 bikes a month.

Countrywide, Royal Enfield sold 75,000 bikes in 2011, he said adding the company was looking at sales touching over one lakh units.

While the Thunderbird 500 is available at Rs 1,82,539 (on road price in Kochi, the Thunderbird 350 is available at Rs 1,35,408 (on road price in Kochi).

Royal Enfield's domestic line up includes the Bullet 350, Electra, Classic 350, Classic 500, Classic Chrome and Desert Storm.

Royal Enfield on Thursday launched its Thunderbird 500, which, it says, would enhance the pleasure of leisure motorcycling.

The motorcycle is now powered with 499cc Unit Construction Engine and 27.2 bhp, 41.3Nm single cylinder engine is a straight lift from the Classic 500 and gives better performance and cruising ability at the same time returning decent fuel efficiency as well.

The Thunderbird 500 is now having innovative features like projector head lamp, LED tail lamp, daytime running lights , digital trip meter, split seat and a blackened engine, the main ignition lock also functions as a central steering lock. The Thunderbird 500 also sports a major upgrade in terms of its mechanicals that ensure safety of both the rider and the bike.

The bike also gets fatter front forks and all-new swingarm and a 240mm disc brake at the rear along with a 280mm disc in the front. Ground clearance has been increased to 140mm while the overall height of the bike has dropped by 5mm. Now it has 18-inch rear wheel size along with a 19-inch front tyre. The Thunderbird 500 also features a bigger 20-litre fuel tank and will be available in two shades of black.

They haven't just plonked in a larger engine and called it a day though, the whole bike gets a significant overhaul along with a new heart.

The new Thunderbird, targeted at the highway cruising buffs, are priced at Rs 1,82,571 (on road Mumbai for the 500 cc) and Rs 1,43,346 (350 cc).

Senior Vice-President for Sales and Marketing, Shaji Koshy said “the company has already got 100 bookings within hours of launch, 50 from Mumbai alone.”

“With the launch of the Thunderbird 500 with its unique 360-degree design language and its higher powered engine, we have again upped the ante in leisure motorcycling. We have been selling around 1,000 units per month of the Thunderbird 350 and we expect this number to rise significantly with these two products,” said Siddhartha Lal, MD & CEO, Eicher Motors, while speaking toThe Hindu.

The Chennai plant would make engines for products assembled at the new plant coming up at Oragadam, near Chennai, said Mr. Lal. It would come up by March 2013.

Last year, Enfield had notched up a full 50 per cent growth in sales to over 75,000 units, Lal said. “The new plant would initially only make Thunderbird bikes and we would have a combined capacity of 150,000 units per annum. However, by 2014-15, this capacity will increase significantly,” he said. The company is investing Rs. 150 crore in the new plant.

Royal enfield is now promising a better service experience with all new technology to be used in servicing the newer models with trained mechanics.
