Back in November of 2024 I started my first Ercoupe build. In March of 2025 I did the maiden flight, after that I was hooked. Last year was a very eventful year. In May I retired, 30 years on being a mechanic will destroy your body. The wife decided that we have had enough of Texas, and so after a summer of getting her moved and me packing up the old house, in October I finally joined her in are new home in Arizona. Leaving behind a enclosed two car garage as my workshop to move into a 10'x10' bedroom as a new workshop was not easy. I decided to break in the new workshop by building another Ercoupe. There were several things I wished I had done on the first one, and I had an someone that wanted to buy the older coupe. So, why not.. Here are a couple of pictures of #1 the day of its maiden.

LF-Vito Tomeo Hawker Sea Fury Plans/Parts

WANTED

Hoping somebody out there in SRCB land has a set of the Vito Tomeo plans, or plans and parts, for his 77" wing span Hawker Sea Fury that are excess to their needs. Let me know if so and how much.

Thanks!

Chad Veich

Plastic template material glue plans to

After retiring I am getting back into building from plans after 16 years. Back then I would cut out the template from the paper plan and use spray glue to attach it to a semi-transparent thin plastic sheet material I got from somewhere. I think the last material I got was red, but it was originally semi-transparent clear. It was easy to cut with an xacto blade and it could be scored and snapped as well. It cam rolled up in a tube I believe. I would like to get some more of this but I can't remember the name of it or where I got it. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Thanks.

Smithsonian Aircraft Drawings

https://airandspace.si.edu/sites/default/files/Dwg_Prep_Sets _20181226.pdf

Alan

Stuka G Model Question

Good morning,
I am working on a G model and was wondering what people have done for the bellows on the wheel spats. Some of you may remember the old Steve Canyon show. If you are not familiar with the show it is about Air Force pilot Steve Canyon, the commander of Big Thunder Air Force Base, travels from base to base as an all-around trouble-shooter, when he's not dealing with the the personal and military problems of his own everyday life.

What's cool about the show is that each episode is based on a real USAF situation or project. So there are some really cool scenes it in. F-100's, F-102's, B-50's, B-52's and lots more aircraft.

If you have Amazon Prime in the US on your TV you can watch for free there or on the web.

https://amzn.to/432cwoz

Enjoy!

Mike

The Cessna T-50 Bobcat was developed as a 3-passenger mini airliner in the late 1930's, but it likely would have been a forgotten experiment if not for the training and light-transport needs of the U.S. Army during World War II. Over 5,000 frames were built and hundreds were made available after the war to civilian operators. Their radial engines were easy to maintain, and the lightweight framing of steel tubing, wood stringers, and fabric covering allowed for slow takeoff and landing speeds. It was a versatile and easy-to-fly aircraft that helped start many carriers in the 1940's and 1950's.

The Auster J/1 Autocrat was a 1940's British single-engined three-seat high-wing touring monoplane built by Auster Aircraft Limited at Rearsby, Leicestershire.

As the end of the Second World War approached, the designers at Taylorcraft decided to develop a tourer version of the robust and reliable Taylorcraft Auster Model J AOP.V observation aircraft series. An Auster 5, registered G-AGOH, was modified to take a 100 hp (75 kW) Blackburn Cirrus II engine for trials. At the same time a prototype aircraft was built designated the Taylorcraft Auster V Series J/1 Autocrat. The long name was not used as the company changed name to Auster Aircraft Limited and the aircraft became known as the Auster J/1 Autocrat. The designation J/1 derived from the progenitor Model J, which was the Auster AOP.V.

Calling all mechanical engineers!

Here's a challenge. I've recently come across an interesting WWI aircraft with unusual elevator bellcrank geometry.

In the photos below, I've built a simple conceptual mock-up. The set-up includes a long forward arm that pivots on the bottom, which is connected to a bellcrank of the same length, but which pivots in the middle, i.e., with arms that are half the length. The result of this setup (on the actual aircraft) is that the angle of movement is DOUBLED. For example, 10 degrees on the forward arm (presumably directly linked to the joystick) would produce 20 degrees of movement on the elevator.

So slight movement on the joystick (controlling the forward arm) would create exaggerated movement on the elevator. This seems like pretty much the opposite of what we would want on a typical RC model.

I should add that this arrangement is what is seen on both sides of the fuselage.

Here's the engineering challenge I throw out to you: Is there a mechanical way to cancel out this odd geometry WITHOUT changing the relative lengths of either the forward arm or the bellcrank (which are visible scale features of the aircraft).

And if a mechanical method is impossible or impractical, could (extreme) positive expo on the Tx tame/counteract this geometry?
