Syfy Backpedals, Cancels Eureka

Syfy is canceling its longest-running scripted show, the light-hearted small-town sci-fi series Eureka, mere days after it announced the show’s renewal. How does that work, you ask? Less than a week ago, the network ordered a shortened, six-episode sixth season with the implication that it would be the series’ last. But late last night, EW.com confirmed that the sixth season won’t be happening and that the upcoming 13-episode fifth season will be the show’s last. Despite her rising star status thanks to appearing as Amy Pond in Doctor Who, it doesn’t seem like Karen Gillan has truly been able to crack the big screen just yet. Well, yes, the network’s schedule will continue to be dominated by programs brought over by and from the BBC. But come next summer, it will plunge into new waters with its first original scripted drama, Copper, a 10-episode series centered on a young Irish policeman in 19th century New York. Franklin & Bash Renewed for Season 2 on TNT

Kim Kardashian sues Old Navy over ads starring lookalike [Poll]

Well, this is fun: Kim Kardashian is apparently unhappy seeing “Kim Kardashian” affiliated with a national brand. Of course, the fact that she has no deal with the brand, Old Navy, is a big part of the problem — and presumably why she filed a lawsuit on Wednesday.

Kardashian is suing the low-priced clothing chain, alleging that it deliberately infringed upon her public persona when it hired near-lookalike actress-dancer Melissa Molinaro for a new ad campaign that launched early this year. The campaign was “purposefully designed and intended to confuse, to cause mistake, and to deceive the public” into believing the reality TV diva was appearing in the commercials,” the lawsuit alleges.

Love Bites Canceled by NBC

According to TV Guide, NBC has officially canceled the hourlong anthology, not long after reducing its episode order for a second time (from 9 to 8, after bringing it from 13 to 9 earlier this year). The show has had a pretty unusual existence, having been scheduled to air Thursdays at 10:00 last fall before pregnancy, cast turnover, and a crowded midseason pushed it into summer. ‘Twilight’ vamp cast in CBS medical drama

Former Twilight star Rachelle Lefevre has landed a series regular role in the upcoming CBS medical drama A Gifted Man.

Lefevre is joining the cast of the fall series, about a recently widowed doctor who begins to see visions of his deceased wife. She’ll play Kate, a doctor at the family “clinica” where Dr. Michael Holt (Patrick Wilson) now finds himself spending more and more time, pulled away from his own very upscale hospital.
