A needed day
I have so many needy clients at work, it was nice to get away today, I was stressed out yesterday, and have a client I have just started working with, who is a wonderful lady, but she has 8 months of being screwed around by the system, and she is sick of it.  Unfortunately, I am the only one who has helped her with anything, and now we are just waiting for stuff like Medicaid and SSDI to kick, but she lost it on me yesterday, threatening to kill herself and such.

This poor woman, back in January, she had surgery on her gall bladder; which went fine . . . the hospital she was at overdosed her on morphine, and she came out of her coma severly disabled.  She has a severe speech impediment which was giving her problems with Welfare and Medicaid, which were all screwed up and such.  In that time her ex husband got a good lawyer, and took her kids and won’t bring them for visitation, and she lost her house to an unscrupulous lawyer, and she can’t express herself properly, in addition she is on welfare while waiting for disability so has no money.

I fixed her Health Insurance and her welfare which was all messed up and no one could understand her, I got her a personal injury lawyer who is going to sue the hospital, and such.  But she has about had it.  To top it off, I was too busy to go over and visit and do a bunch of phone calls for her, and tried to get her roommate to do it.  She just couldn’t handle the whole thing, and just kept calling and crying and such, finally I called the Police, who brought her to Crisis, which actually will help her  . .

Today though at work, we had Staff Appreciation Day.  Lots of fun, nice clamboil, games, socialization for our company which has grown from 38 employees when I first started to 142.  So there are a lot of people I only ever get to see in passing or on the phone.  Left early too . . .

The Walls
Wife and I picked out colors today, and we went with a really nice greyish purple, very light for the walls, and a little darker for the trim.  I am going to pick up the paint tomorrow and start painting Friday.

WHO THE F’ CARES IF THEY BURN A QURAN?  It does not destroy Islam, and seriously, the only people it insults are the idiots who give Islam a bad name (just like this minister who thinks this is a brilliant idea, give Christianity a bad name).   WHO CARE IF THEY MAKE A CARTOON WITH THE IMAGE OF MOHAMMED!  Get your revenge, burn a Bible.  In fact, who wants to support burn a Bible day?  IT IS A BOOK PRINTED AT A PRINTING PRESS.  This stupid idiot pastor, who knows nothing about Islam, or for that matter Jesus, has the right to burn them if he wants.  So what?

Just as Muslim have the right TO BUILD AND FREAKIN’ RELIGIOUS BUILDING THEY WANT ON LAND THEY OWN!  It’s not like they are building on Ground Zero there assholes (which by the way is privately owned and they could not build one there).  So should we ban a Christian Church next to the area where the Oklahoma City Bombing Occured?  Tim McVeigh was born Catholic and converted to the this militaristic Christian thought.

Seriously, if there is a God up there?  He/She/It must be really proud of all the hate, and intolerance being spread around.

Ok, the whole bringing Young Ben Linus to Richard to get fixed and then lose his innocence and not remember stuff, I don’t know if the works for me.  Did they take the easy way out on that one?

Jackie Wilson
Playing Night Shift, made me do a little research on Jackie Wilson.  Always been a fan of Wilson, was a very underrated until the 80′s when many a soul, rap, and R&B artist cited him as an influence, Michael Jackson dedicated the album Thiller to him, and of course Night Shift is about him as well as Marvin Gaye, who both died in 1984.  What I did not realize in Wilson has a huge heart attack on stage in the early 70′s and ended up in a coma for the next decade or so (another performer who died on stage).  Some Jackie Wilson for the peeps!

Night Shift from the Commodores.  My favorite song from them.  I think it is funny too, this song hit   #1 in 1985, after Lionel Richie left, and previously they only had 2 #1 hits with him.  And this was their only funky song to make number one.  They other two were these two sappy numbers: Still and Once Twice Three Time a Lady.  Their funky stuff should of hit bigger, like this ditty, and or this fun one, or even this one (whoops wrong version).

Of course this song is about Marvin Gaye and Jackie Wilson, both died in 1984.

OK, I am finished patching and putting up the the molding, and I have about a half gallon of Kilz.  I am going to start painting and sanding tomorrow.  Still deciding on colors, but I have these I am thinking about: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.  I think I like 4 best, and I like to go and look at the colors at the store too.

Not sure why everyone is so upset, Malach told you all this was a transitional year, and notice they did not waste money on replacing the injured?  Lost year, but tons of money being freed up next year and the year after.  The Patriots are sort of in the same transition.  Getting younger, but still trying to compete.

Earl so far has been a dud
We got a lot of rain so far, but not too much else.  Daughter and I walked the Hurricane Barrier at 7:30PM, wasn’t even shut and there was mild wind and no real waves.   Earl is still about 150 miles south, we will see what happens over night, but it looks to be headed out to see.

Wife kids and I went down to Fort Phoenix and walked the Hurricane Barrier.  It was nice, a little windy not bad, but no action yet.  Might go back tomorrow before the storm hits.  I am actually more concerned with the 3 – 6 inches of rain more than the 85MPH winds.  And they issued a Hurricane about 3 hours ago, and kids school is closing early.  I just hope it cools off. It was interesting to watch all the Fishing Fleet coming home too, I have never seen so many fishing boats coming into the harbor at once, and all the boats that tied up behind the barrier and that island out there.

Hey we were in the local paper today!

The Weather
So we are in the middle of a 4 – 5 day 90+ degree heatwave.  It was hotter today, than most of the summer.  Central Air has been on since Monday and even now, at 9:30PM it is still 80.  Earl is coming close Saturday, and temps are supposed to drop!  That will be very nice.

We haven’t had a real Hurricane round here in about 20 years.  Well looks like Earl might be taking a shot at us for Friday.  Right now his most extreme Westerly projection would land him right over my house.  You know I will have pics.  This house was built in 1900, so it has survived some really bad ones, especially before they built the Hurricane Barrier.  I am about 2 1/2 miles north of that puppy.  There will be pics from there too.

Hello Walls
So, I am done stripping wall paper, and have started patching, sheetrocking, and skimcoating.  I hope to be finished by the weekend, so we can start painting.  The Wall Paper wasn’t too bad, with a little elbow grease.  The wall underneath . . . that’s another story.  I have sheetrocked the big holes, and the missing panels, and now it is plaster time.  After that, I will remount the molding, probably have to do some touch up plastering and such.   Softball season is over, so this gives me some time at night to finish up.  Again, I hope to be finished Friday, and then start painting; still haven’t chosen colors.

More KMP Stuff
So, I spoke to a number of people and they were shocked at how “easily” we won the title.  Here was our strategy.  I pitched the same pitch over and over again.  A curve ball that starts way inside and breaks over the plate for a strike.  The Bull Dogs only have right handed hitters, so I would throw a meatball right down the middle for the first strike, then I would throw the same pitch just varying it’s depth, and left and right.  Had them guessing all series long.  Of course I had a AMAZING defense.  I leave you with some pictures, the first one is Malach, looking like he is telepathically trying to land a strike.

Malach is in the back row all the way to the right.  Dan in the front row 2nd in is our Coach/Equipment Manager/Cheerleader/Mascot/Umpire Cusser-outer.  Dan has Down Syndrome.  He is the brother to one of our players, I have known his since he was 12.  He is 24 now.  Meaghan on the end is our scorekeeper and good luck charm.  Every game she came to we won.  Wasn’t present for any loss, and missed the first game of the playoffs which we almost lost, so we forced her to come to the rest of them rain or shine.

And we have some Champagne spraying at the end of the game:

And of course some after game partying at my house, so we wouldn’t get arrested, and I did apologize to my neighbors for these loud drunken fools.

OK, I can see why the started losing rating in the final two season.  The time shifts, the new characters, the open mystical nature; I am sure it became hard to follow for non geeks.  I love it personally.  I love the little jaunt to 1954.  I also love the way the continue to kill off annoying bit characters . . . FLAMING ARROW!

We Are The Champions from Queen, because . . .

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!
That right, we won tonight, and won the league championship.  We played awesome.  Pitched another shut out (6 total for the year, 3 in the playoffs) and our defense was amazingly stellar.  After the pics come out I will post some.  We had blast, sprayed champagne, and I even had a few beers after 4 years of not touching alchohol.

The most amazing part is everyone played well, and everyone made a big play in at least one game in every playoff game.  As the Patriots have showed over the years, that is how you win.  Even more amazing?  We dominated the championship against a pretty good team.  Two shutouts, and giving up only 3 runs, only one of them earned.

Never having won a championship beyond Special Olympics, this is nice.  I can see why people go cuckoo when winning them.  Everyone just left my house, so we wouldn’t get arrested at a public park.

So, now our goal is to win two in a row . . .

As a little aside, it has always fascinated me that this song is the theme for a lot of winning sports teams.  Freddy Mercury was so flamboyantly gay . .

I also felt a lot better today, still a little chest cold, but fever was gone . .
