Jogging
Malach is doing real well, been jogging now for about a month, got my 7 year old to go with me after run yesterday, and she did ok.  I am now consitently weighing under 220.  This winter I had gotten as high as 240.  Still pushing for 205 so I can fight Machida.

And in a strange turn of events, resigned Governership of Alaska, stating she does not want to go through the typical lame duck stuff as she is not running for reelection?  Now how does that, quitting, help her become a viable Presidential Candidate?

Kitty Cat.
So, I had to take Skye, our cat to the vet today, she was gone for longer than 24 hours and came back limping pretty badly, she had open wounds, and nothing anatomically looked out of place, but she was in obvious pain.  So I called the Vet, New England Animal Hospital, who I love.  Very friendly, and will not bilk you for your home.  Even though they were booked solid, they got me in, and hour after calling.

Place was packed, day before a holiday, but they quickly determined without taking X-Rays she had some type of infection, maybe from a animal bite, even though though her thick hair none of us could find a wound.  But she had a temp.  They gave her an injectible analgesic for the pain, and injectible anti-biotic.

Well, tonight she is feeling much better, only a slight limp, and much more active and playful.

While we were there, Fairhaven Animal Control brought in an emergency, a dog that had been slashed by a knife from neck to buttocks, poor dog.  Not sure how that turned out, but I will ask when I call the vet on Monday.

KMP Softball Update
Ok, a little venting.  We were supposed to play at our home field today, but we were the visitors.  The team we were playing there, the Bulldogs, decided at last minute they wanted to change the field to a field in Westport.  Needless to say, I assume it got approved, but I was going to have a hard time getting a full team there, this field is a bit out of the way, taking about a half hour to get to.  I called around, and thought we would at least have 8 players.  Done that before, reduces the outfield to 3, and the opposite team catches for you. 

So already a little digruntled about this, I arrive at the field about 40 minutes before game time.  Not only are half the Bulldogs already there, but members of two other teams, the Misfits and Isotopes were there also.  Seems the Misfits and Isotopes got rained out yesterday, and decided, seeing the open date, to rescheduled to today.  So, here is 4 teams at one field, while at the original field we were supposed to play at it was empty.

So, it was decided, before I even got there that since the Bulldogs had already approved the move, they would play us, but in an effort to speed up the game, we would start with a 1 and 1 count.  At this point I was so pissed I did not care, whatever, but I only had 7 players by gametime.  By league rule we are supposed to have 8.  My eigth was returning from work on the Cape, if we had the game where we were supposed to have it, he would of been right on time for our 6PM start, but because of the switch, he wasn’t there.  So, again, I am still pissed, now I have three team waiting for us to start, and begging for us to forfeit, but we decided to be jerks, we played 3 inning with only 7 players.  3 outfielder, 3 infielder, me pitching and covering the empty base where needed.

By the end of 3 we were wining 4 - 0.  Yeah, that’s right.  So of course the Bulldogs start to moan about it should of be a forfeit, then they want to enact a rule, that everytime this 8th player was supposed to come up in the lineup it would be a automatic out, which of course I started laughing at.  Our 8th player eventually showed up, and we ended up losing, mainly cause we did not have the 4th outfielder, but the final score was 7 - 6.

It was fun, playing the way we did with 3 infielders, and it made us think about experimenting with a new infield next game.  4 infielders, with the 1st baseman overshifting into the hole like he did today, I would cover first if needed, I am still pretty good 1st baseman.

I also told the guys that were there, we should try to get this act together, Globetrotters of SlowPitch, we had such good timing.

Now, I don’t disagree with this, I just wanted to point out the praise of Jacko, especially in the Black Community.  While Jacko was never convicted, neither was OJ.  Unlike Hitler or Bonds, I don’t think it was ever Jacko plans to commit his sins to push and agenda.

One thing I don’t also understand about his embrace by the Black Community, skin diseases aside, MJ basically removed his blackness through plastic surgery, his nose, his lips, his cheek bones, eyes, they all say White, or Anime.  Don’t Believe the Hype.

The Mood of Red Sox Nation
What a weird couple of games.  Last night the Sox had a 10 - 1 lead going into the 7th, and the Bullpen imploded, the best Bullpen in baseball.  Giving up 10 runs.  Biggest lead every given up by a first place team to a last place team.  Last time the Sox gave up a lead like that in the last third of a game?  1989.  If this was pre 2004, the Nation would be calling for Francona’s head, but it’s not.  The whole attitude?  Eh, was fluke game, it happens.  Just to prove it, the Sox today, Beckett gets banged around by the Orioles it is 5 - 1 going into the 9th.  Pedroia gets on, Youk hits a two run blast.  O’s bring in their closer (Sherill), and stikes out Bay and Ortiz.  Sherill then gives up a single to Jeff Bailey, walks the next two, and Baldelli hits a two run single to tie it up.  Sox end up winning in 11.

Yet another must see movie?

KMP Softball Update
So we won yesterday pretty big, we were up, 17 - 4 at the end of the 3rd inning, got all new bats, and they had some POP.  My shortstop hit 2 grandslams.  Malach went 2 - 3 and got his first extra base hit.  Malach pitched really well, and switched to first base in the 4th so we could get our back up some work.  Final score was 28 - 11.

Jacko
Malach actually defended Jacko yesterday at work.  WOW!  I got into a conversation about him, with the majority of people just not understanding the idolatry and the reverence given to him.  Someone also did understand the whole BET Awards show being a tribute to him, when he was nothing but a Child Molester.

So Malach played Devil’s Advocate, first Jacko was never convicted of child molestation (OJ wasn’t convicted of murder either), now that does not excuse any of the bizarre behavior he has had around kids, including alchohol consumption with kids, porn sharing with kids, etc.  Now in the 1990’s case it was settled out of court.  I don’t know about you, but any amount of money would not keep me quiet about some one molesting one of my kids, but that is an aside.  In the 2000’s case he was acquited for lack of evidence . . .

But that is not what people are celebrating.  Michael Jackson is to Black America what Elvis or John Lennon was to White America.  MJ broke records, out sold Elvis, the Beatles, whomever as a Black Artist.  Jacko also broke the MTV color barrier.  I remember early MTV, the only Black Person you saw on there was JJ Jackson (a VJ), and Clarence Clemmons.  MTV played White Rock and New Wave.  MJ was the first Black Artist to get HEAVY airplay on MTV.  He broke open the doors for other Black artists including rap artist to get played on MTV, which made your career in the 80’s.  MJ also made Black music relevant, and opened the door to big selling minority artists.  Now I am not a fan of most of his music, he was a musical genius, in the very least choosing songs and song writers who would make him famous.  He had a unique voice, was very charismatic (at least in the 80’s), and could dance like there was no tomorrow.

Now, I am trying to make excuses for his behavior, and it was Bizarre, from the plastic surgery, to the sleep overs, to the drugs, the sham marriages, the kids that probably aren’t even his genetic kids, to the closeted gay relationships; there is no excuse.  Yes, he had a brutal child hood, growing up in the spotlight, and his overbearing father, but so did the rest of the kids; so did Janet Jackson, maybe just as much as Michael, that still does not excuse . . .

But that man was a great artist (even I can admit that), and that is what is being celebrated.  I think Barack Obama, who put out a statement about it said it best:

He was an important and magnificent performer, obviously, he had aspects of his life that were sad and tragic, but his impact is undeniable.

It begins
US troops hopefully begin a slow but steady pull out from Iraq today, it will be very interesting to see how this goes.  Personally, I believe most Iraqis want to be free and democratic, but there are non certain elements in the country, a number of them non-Iraqis would love to see nothing more than this fail.

What a month, first David Carradine, then Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson, basically in the past 4 days; today, one of Malach favorite celebs, BILLY MAYS passed away today.  I am sorry, I cannot type BILLY MAYS in anything but caps, cause I gotta yell his name.  What happened?  Well there will be an autopsy and it will be interesting to see if this plane incident had anything to do with.  Malach liked BILLY MAYS.  He was a hard working self made man, and from all indications a funny, nice, family man.  I loved his show he did with Anthony Sullivan, PITCHMEN!  The world will never be the same, RIP BILLY MAYS.  I don’t know, maybe the Yakuza really got him?

Gay Marriage
MA has had Gay Marriage now for a while.  Both Malach’s next store neighbors are gay couples; one is married, the other cohabitates.  The younger couple has two very young children, by artificial insemination.   They are a wonderful little family.  My kids have never once asked why the neighbor has two Mommies, maybe they are too young.  As this issue comes of a head in this country, it is interesting to see the grown children of the Gayby Boomer generation starting to speak out.

Excuses, Excuses . .
So where was last night’s blog?  Well, Malach has had a couple of sick kids, and last night, the boy starting getting intense abdominal pains, and vomiting.  I immediately thought it was Appedicitis, but it was on and off, so I held out.  Wifey was working, and when she got home at Eleven, he woke up in pain and vomiting again, and she took him to the emergency room.  This was around 10PM.  They finally got triaged at 12:30PM and placed in a room.  6 hours of IV’s, blood tests, x-rays, and CTScans revealed a blockage of the plumbing, seems the fifths virus had moved down to the large intenstine.  Well, at least that is better than Appedicitis.  They got home at 6AM, wife is sleeping right now cause she had to work in Brockton this morning.  The boy has just taken his dose of magnesium citrate, so I expect a crap explosion in the next hour.

Man, Joe Jackson’s looking scary nowadays.  The whole legal fight coming over his “assets” is going to be interesting, and trust me, that is coming.  And I love Jesse Jackson, always where the money is.

What a day for death and destruction . . .
So this morning upon going online, I find out Farrah Fawcett finally succumbed to cancer.  Say what you want about the last 10 years, and her insanity, Farrah rocked, even into her 60’s.  I can remember her famous poster from the 70’s and I am only 37.  First sex symbol that did something for me.  RIP

Then, I had the day off from work, so did Dr. Murk.  The Angry Piper left his work early and we got together for a 4 1/2 hours sesson of Arkham Horror.  Unfortunately we could not save the world, and Aza-Thoth destroyed it, came close, but in the later stages of the game, Piper chracter kept getting delayed, KO’d and such, the Dunwich horror appeared, and we were done . . . 

As we were playing my wife calls.  Both kids had gotten wierd rashes, she had taken them to the Doctor, and they have Fifth Disease.  AWESOME, so just before she hangs up, she says, “Ohh and Michael Jackson died”. 

WHAT? The King of Pop?  Wacko Jacko?  Yes, the Michael Jackson passed away today of a massive heart attack.  Wow.  How big is that?  I am not a fan of MJ, I like his stuff with Jackson 5, and from Off the Wall, not particular fond of Thriller, and hate everything after that except for The Way You Make Me Feel.  Of course his live is a bizarre tale that I loved to follow, between the plastic surgery, the questionable activities with minors, his overall weirdness, his financial ruin.  Of course MJ was a poineer of the MTV generation, modern pop music, and a psuedo uplifter of Black America.  He will be missed, maybe though not for all the right reasons.

So, how does this all fit together?  It must somehwo, this can’t all be mere coincidence.

And the wife just told me a “too soon” joke:

Farrah Fawcett dies and meets God, God gives her one wish.  After thinking Farrah says “I wish all the children all over the world to be safe”.  So God grants her wish, and kills Michael Jackson.

OUCH.
So, Malach decided to cleanout and organize his shed today.  I have a 10′ x  8′ aluminum shed in my back yard, in which I keep gardening tools (including a chainsaw), my lawnmover, a weedwacker, my wheelbarrow, a snowblower, and grass fertilizer spread, some fertilizer, some chemicals (Bug sprays, weed killers, gasoline), and a ton of firewood.  I needed to reorganize it as everthing was a bit willie nillie.

I hate this shed, and I can’t wait to get rid of it.  It is old, falling apart, and the celing is really low.  In the middle of the shed, it is about 6′ 3″ which is right over my head.  As the roof slopes it is less than 5′ on the sides, and the last own nailed some asphalt sheeting on it, it has nails stick out of it.  The worst part of the shed in the entry, which is only about 5′ 6″ high.  I have whacked my head REALLY hard on it several times.

Well today I really did it, I walked into carrying some firewood full speed, may I add, this was the 5th time I had done it that day, and gave myself a nasty neck stinger.   Neck popped, got the burning sensation down my spine, and my legs went weak.  Gonna have whiplash I am sure in the morning.

KMP Softball Update
Well we missed our game on Monday, due to rain, it put us 9 days between games.  When that happens it usually takes up several innings to get warmed up.  Did again today.  We lost final score was 12 - 6.  Didn’t start hitting until the 5th inning, and had a bad defensive inning and gave up 6 runs in that one.  Mlach pitched good, and batted 2 - 3 with a walk.

Congrats to the US Men’s Soccer Team.
They beat Spain today, Spain who was on a 35 game win streak.  This a huge upset, about as huge in sports as it gets.

Neda Agha-Soltan has become one in the current Iran Revolution.  If you haven’t seen the video of this innocent bystander getting shot in the chest by the Iranian Police, and her music teacher trying to save her life, it is all over YouTube and worth a look, here is link, but warning it is very graphic.  Go Iran, move toward that Democratic Ideal!  It is also nice to see some members of Iran’s Clerics joining in.

RIP Ed McMahon
Best remebered as Johnny Carson side kick, and of course for Star Search and Bloopers and Practical Jokes, Ed McMahon passes away today at the age of 86.  McMahon did the straight man to a tee, and art that is really lost nowadays. RIP, Ed McMahon.

Dear Malach

• Dr. John Rebello asks: Dear Malach, Happy Papi’s Day, how’s your swine flu?  Well, I still have it, but I was able to do my 1.5 mile jog, only stopping twice yesterday . . . so yay.  I got a Dr’s appointment Thursday, maybe I will get tested.
• Tammie asks: Dear Malach, So why are there so many rainbows? And why don’t they have anything to hide?  Rainbows hide many things, like thieving Leprechauns and their rainbow tractor beams.  Trust me on that one.

Yeah
So this happened a mile down the street over the Acushnet River in one of New Bedford worst neighbordhoods.  I get gas there on occasion, and before the 7/11 opened up down the street, I used to get drinks there.

It is really sad that all you have to do, to get out of that gang/crime/drug neighborhood is go east on Coggeshall street, over the bridge and then into the middle class wooded streets of Fairhaven.  Even though I could walk there in 15 minutes, it is like 2 different worlds.  And yes, I got a lot clients living in that neighborhood.

To all the Father’s out there, those still with us, those not.  My Father, my Pepere who passed away, my Father’s Father who passed long before I was born, my wife Father who passed long before I met her.  Happy Father’s Day.  Father’s don’t get enough credit, Father’s teach you things that Mother could not or would not.  Even great Father’s sometimes teach to the bad things with the good, but that is how it is supposed to be.  This song is dedicated to all the Fathers, they teach about Rainbow Connections, real life.

Band of Brothers
Yeah, so Malach is too poor for HBO, but I love watching Band of Brothers repeats marathons on History Channel.  GREAT SHOW.

UP
Took the kids to see UP yesterday.  Pixar can really do no wrong, as always excellent movie.  Not as good as Wall-E, but you won’t be dissappointed.  Saw it in digital 3D which is my first experience with that, very impressed.  Last 3D movie I saw was probably Jaws 3.  I love how you can watch the movie without the glasses if you so desire.  The 3D effects are also more realistic and smooth.

So the Sox and moving Dice-K out of the rotation for the time being, replacing him with Smoltz.  Look for Dice-K to end up down at Triple A for a spell while on the DL.  Hope he can get that magic back.

OK Weather Gods
We are sick of your grabage weather!  We have had maybe a couple of day over 80 this so far, the rest of the time, it has rained and been in the 60’s, though my grass and flowers love it.  Not sure what is going down here in New England, where by this time it it usually 80 and humid.

I am also sick of Weathermen apologizing for the weather, what is up with that?  That is like a volcanologist apologizing for a volcano erupting.

Iran
I love it, this is interesting to see how the power of the internet is affecting this.  I often wonder who the civil rights movement and the counter culture movement in the US would have been effected by stuff like the internet.
