KMP softball update
So the tea is still running strong at 13 – 2 even with a number of games with not enough players and subs. Another game tomorrow!

Lake Compounce
So yesterday me and the fam and about 35 girl scouts and their rents, went to Lake Compounce in Bristol CT. Compounce is a smaller, family oriented park that I had never been to, But I have wanted to go to the past 10 years, mainly cause of the roller coaster Boulder Dash. If you have read my blog, you know I love rollercoasters. I especially like wooden ones. Luckily I live in a part of the US that is within a days driving distance of several world class parks and top 10 world roller coasters. Six Flags: New England and Six Flags: Great Adventure are 2 hours and 6 hours away. Cedar Point Park, which arguable is the greatest coaster park in the world is 12 hours away (I have never been but when the kids are a bit older . .).

So Six Flags New England has one of the best coasters in the world, Bizarro. It also had my favorite wooden coaster of all time, Cyclone. Cyclone is nasty. As you see my the pic in the link it is built on a very small piece of land. It is fast, steep, and rattle like no tomorrow. I am lucky and I got to ride on it in it original state back with the park was Riverside. They have made a lot of safety improvements to it since them, including shortening the first hill, adding trim brakes to some of the corners to slow it down, his and added shoulder restraints, but it is still one wild, bruising, scary ride ride. This video gives to you some idea of the banging around that goes on on this ride even in 2010.

So of course I have heard about Boulder Dash, seen it on TV so I was excited even for the 2 and half hours driver in a full school bus of girl scouts. So we got on Boulder Dash later in the afternoon, (before dinner I might add) and convinced my 9 year old and his cousin to join me and the wife (the 8 year old wasn’t ready). All I can say is WOW. It was so worth it.

Casey Anthony
Unforunately, I don’t think the prosecution has proved murder in this case. They have proved Ms. Anthony is a lying party girl, but they have not proved she murder the child and disposed of the body. I think she will end up guilty of one of the lesser charges on this one.

Dirty Water from the Standells. Of course the theme to many a Boston Sports team. The Standells are a very interesting band . . one of those garagey grandfather of punk that I love from the mid to late 60′s. Have I told you of my love for the Trashmen?

7 Championships in 10 years . .
So, the Bruins have done it I’d also like to point you what I said about the B’s back on May 20th.

I hate to say this right now, but with Bergeron coming back, Seguin coming into his own, and the defense this team can play, I can smell a cup. . Lord Stanley’s Cup, not an athletic supporter. I really think his team can handle Tampa Bay in 6, Vancouver will be tougher, but I think they have just the right mix to do it. This is easily the best Bruins team of my lifetime, even better than the Borque/Neely teams (Yeah I said it). This team reminds me more of the Big Bad Bruin teams of the 70′s and 80′s.

This team has done what a lot of Boston teams have done in the past 10 years, play as a team, be physically and mentally tougher than their opponents, and beat them up. Think about the Patriots when they were winning, the Celtics in 2008, even the Sox coming back down 3 – 0 to the Yankees.

I would also like to thank the Bruins, when I was younger, I was a big hockey fan, through the 80′s and 90′s enjoying their runs, and getting distressed when they got stomped in the playoffs. And then I lost interest. I started to get interest back after the strike, and with the advent of HD TV. I watched their run with Joe Thornton. I got excited when the picked up Chara and watched more consistently. I loved the Olympics. I got hooked again last year, and thought they had a decent shot to at least make the final until Seidenberg and Krecji went down in Philly and they preceded to lose 4 in a row.

When this year began I felt they would make a playoff run, but wasn’t sure how far, the trades occured, they went on a run after the trades, and then kind of dropped off. Something changed in this team after losing the first two to the Canadians.

The scary part about this team is every is back for next year except Recchi who is retiring. Ryder contract is up. Other than that everyone is signed for at least the next two years and they are very young. Seguin in 19, Marchand is 21, Lucic is 23, Bergeron is 25, much of their team is in their mid to late 20′s. Chara is 32, and of course Thomas is 37, but those are two postion you can play into your late 30′s. $10million is coming off their payroll. Scary.

My 9 year old stayed up to the see the end of the game. I reflected on how when I was a kid their was, beyond the Celtics, so much dissapointments in New England sports. Lucky kid. Not only 7 championships in 10 years, but 9 appearances . .

Still rolling along, we are now 11 – 2. Getting a bit injury plagued right now, better now that later though.

Spinning Wheel, by Blood Sweat and Tears.. BS&T is a long time band with many incarnations and lineups. This lineup with David Clayton-Thomas as the lead singer is their most popular. Very interesting band, much like Chicago, came out in the late 60′s with this bluesy, horns infused jazz rock. Very under appreciated band in the modern era.

The Stanley Cup
so interestingly enough, the Big Bad Bruins are back. Even stranger, the Bruins who make the better bad guy in this series have actually turned the Canucks into the bad guy. After yesterdays game, the Bruins seem to have new focus. They have shown they can play with this team, now they just have to win.

OK seriously?
The politician named Weiner is showing his wiener on the internet. C’mon, you can’t make this any easier? Hey public people . . .anything you put on the internet is not private at all, no matter what they tell you, or the privacy settings you have.

Have you been following the Casey Anthony Trial?
Holy Moly is this woman nuts if nothing else. She has lied so much I don’t know how you can present any defense for her and make it not seem a lie. It also make one wonder why someone would do to their own child what she is accused of doing. There are much better option when your child becomes too much for you to handle.

Sarah Palin for President in 2012!
Not only would this be really scary, it would also be highly entertaining. She make Dubya look like a Mensa Candidate.

KMP Update
So we went 7 – 0 then lost two games in a row, mainly for lack of a full team, came back today and beat the Sand Demons 15 – 5. 8 – 2 on the year now.

KMP Softball Update
So, we are 5 – 0, with three rainouts, and in first place by several games.  The weather round here, finally seems to be turning summery, which I am very excited about.  If you Facebook, you can follow the league here, and my team here.

I can smell it . .

KMP Softball Update . .
Well, my softball team has begun the season 3 – 0.  We have won our first three games, 29 – 10, 21 – 2, and 15 – 4.  We have also had two rainouts.  Not to bad considering we have had almost no practice.  Obviously our hitting has been good, and besides the first game, the Defense was awesome.  In the first game, two errors brought in 6 runs.  I have pitched well, have  a strikeout in each game, and considering the awful weather so far, only 2 walks.

Ding Dong Bin Laden’s Dead
So, almost a decade after 9/11, the US finally got Bin Laden.  Can Whitey Bulger be far behind?  So this ends a long chapter in American History, and starts a new one.  While I am not stupid enough to say this ends the War or Terror, this does give us some options of getting out of Afghanistan.

While I am very happy this occurred (Bin Laden facing  justice), I am kind of disturbed by some of the reactions out there.  First there is the whole partisan political thing, the extreme left wanting to call Obama the greatest president ever, and the extreme right wanting to give him no credit for this.   Even worse there is the whole why did we bury the body thing?

I seriously read and heard opinions that would should of actually took his body and strung it up in NYC.  . . . Really?  That would make the US no better than the enemy we are fighting.

There is also already this whole conspiracy popping up also . . . . and again Malach wonders why Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, et all, are allies.

Speaking of The War on Terror, this look really interesting.

What also was kind of weird, was trying to explain to my kids, both who were born after 9/11, why the US killed this man, and even what 9/11 was.

Yeah, I guess I am just as bad, but I found this HILARIOUS!

Definitely a very underrated band, that got lost before it’s time.  I cannot wait until the afterlife and see Sandman, and Johnny “Guitar” Watson jamming.

What  difference a week makes . .
The Celtics are back to being their old selves,  the Red Sox are who we thought they were, and the Bruins, the Bruins found their swagger again.  Get back to me in a week and see if the bottom fallen out.

Where has Malach been?
I have been super busy with a new website, and writing a grant for my job, luckily I have been on vacation all week.  I have a little bit of free time tonight but not a ton.  So a little blog tonight.  I should be done the website by the next few days.  The grant I have until the second week of May.  Yeah on Vacation, but have had to go into work a few times and take a few calls, once for the grant, once for another client that died (that is 5 in 6 months).  Also have the kids home so I have had to provide some entertainment for them.  I also have my softball season starting next week, and trying to do stuff for that.

Another guilty pleasure of mine, I Miss You from Blink 182.  I am not a huge Blink fan, but I do like their early stuff.  I am sort of fascinated with this song.  First it is very different than the usual Blink fair, but not.   It is still sung like a British punk.  It also has very weird lyrics.

So Into You from Atlanta Rhythm Section, or ARS and they were known.  ARS is an interesting band, they are part of the 70′s Southern Dirty Rock movement (Lynrd Skynrd, The Allman Brothers) but they were a bit funkier, and little more soulful, some might say even a little Disco.
