Despite growing up just outside of Boston, I have always been a Bostonian. I was born in the city and even went to college and graduate school here. I know. I know. Can I be more Boston?! For the record, I have traveled outside of the city, the state and even the country on numerous occasion. I promise.

I guess you could say I have a love affair with Boston. I mean I even own a t-shirt proudly proclaiming: The Best Girls Are From Boston. And nothing could be further from the truth -- we're loyal, loving, temperamental and tenacious. Boston girls are other things too (insert laughter). The Hub is home to many things -- the Boston Red Sox, Boston Ballet and Boston Common. But I bet you haven't met the city's minty mate, Boston Mints.

Joanne Ilacqua, owner of Adamo Day Spa, is the brains behind the luscious lipgloss line. Ilacqua has been an estitician for more than two decades. She opened her Cohasset spa with dreams of one day starting a cosmetics line. After building a beauty business, establishing a respected clientele and gathering a feel for the cosmetics market, Ilacqua launched Boston Mints in 2011.

"Word of mouth has really carried it (Boston Mints)," Ilacqua said. "It's a perfect item for boutiques." In addition to selling the glosses at Adamo, Ilacqua has partnered with several local retailers such as Flock in the South End and Salon Capri locations. Infused with vitamins C and E, the formula not only gives lips intense moisture, but also adds peppermint to the pout. Just ask Mr. Chat -- he hasn't been able to keep his whiskers away.

As a south shore native (and Bostonian), Ilacqua was inspired by Boston history and culture when naming all 12 iconic shades; although she did add her own creative twist to names such as Newberry Street, T Party and Rose Wharf. As for her favorite color, Ilacqua is a fan of Minuteman because of its shimmer, shine and neutral tone against her olive skin.

Personally, I'm in love with the soft intensity of Go Sox! and Bean Towne. Both shades pack a punch of color yet are subtle enough for day wear. Rose Wharf is pretty too and pairs perfectly with a dramatic eye. So pucker up with a little Plum Island Sand or P-Town Pink and start blowing Boston Mint kisses in the wind. And be on the lookout for a new color that's perfect for summer on Nantucket.

Beauty and the Bath :: Frank Webb's Bath Center

With May coming to an end in just a few days, so is National Home Improvement Month. If you weren't aware of the 31-day fete dedicated to facelifts for your home, do not fret. If you ask me, any day is a good day to repair and restore all that is rusted and in need of retirement in and around your humble abode.

One of my favorite rooms in a home is the bathroom. Although I love my master bath, my fantasy oasis is an ultra-luxe, spa-inspired space flaunting an expansive marble vanity, Japanese soaking tub and heated tile shower with cascading rainfall. And accessories for added ambience -- think scented candles, soft jazz, a glass of rosé and Calgone to take me (and my troubles) away. Pure bliss, I tell you.

For a look into what's trending in the world of bathrooms, I spoke with Deb Dumel, manager and design consultant at Frank Webb's Bath Center. With more than a thirty locations in the northeast and a stunning showroom in South Boston, the luxury retailer can turn bubble bath dreams (like mine) into a reality.

According to Dumel, consumers who walk into Frank Webb are looking for their dream bathroom -- a vision that often leads them to designing a resort-style retreat. "A majority of people get their inspiration from hotels and want build the same bathroom in their home," Dumel said.

With 15 years of design experience under her belt, Dumel offers consumers expert advice on anything from flooring and fixtures to lightening and limestone. A top trend she is witnessing in bath remodels this season is the transition from a dual bath and shower stall to a standing tile shower. With tile adding to a bathroom's décor aesthetic and a standing shower adding square footage to an often petite space, there's much to be envied. Consumers, Dumel added, are also installing luxury amenities to their shower such as steam.

Color choice is also important as it pulls a room together. Consumers are forgoing the once popular Earth tones for sleek grays, metallics and whites when picking paint and tile. Chrome faucets and glass shower doors are also gaining momentum as both offer a contemporary look and are easy to maintain.

A huge thank you goes to my fellow Boston blogger, Lindsey of L's Fashion Dish, who recently nominated me for a Liebster Award. A quick Google search about the accolade reveals that the award is given to your favorite bloggers and/or bloggers who have less than 200 followers. This nomination is a nice way to get to know fun facts about one another. I look forward to hearing from my nominees.

1.) Why did you start blogging?

I have been a creative writer since I was in elementary school. After graduating from Northeastern University with a degree in journalism, I freelanced for a major newspaper for two years before reluctantly taking an advertising sales position in television. Au revoir creative spirit. Although the job was not the right fit for for me, used the time to strengthen my relationships in the media and pursue my master's degree in corporate communication.

Shortly after grad school, I took a position in creative sponsorship at a neighboring television station and began writing again. My career then took a 180 degree turn into a completely different industry. While remaining true to myself and desire to write, I launched Rue Le Chat as a way to channel my creativity, pen my passions and network with like-minded individuals. I have never regretted a moment and am loving every minute.

2.) What kind of blog do you have?

Rue Le Chat is a lifestyle blog featuring style, beauty, home décor and social events. I also write about my cat, Manolo.

3.) What is your favorite thing about blogging?

I love using my creativity to paint a vivid picture; whether it's sampling the newest trend or dinning at the hottest restaurant. I believe creativity is the key to enticing your audience and allowing them to share in your experiences.

4.) If you had a super power, what would it be?

I would definitely want to be invisible and discover what others really think, say and do about anything and everything.

West Elm Market :: Boston Grand Opening

West Elm welcomed their new concept shop with a grand opening celebration in April -- a month also dedicated to decorating and home décor. West Elm Market takes a rustic and raw approach to retail. Think farmer’s market meets urban-chic boutique. The purveyor of all that is pure and pretty specializes in locally grown provisions, handcrafted kitchen accouterments and unique garden gadgets. Market also sells specialty goods ranging from sauces to scrubs.

Décor devotees mingled about the organic-infused space sipping cocktails and relishing the earth tones and clean lines that give West Elm and Market a serene and spend-worthy setting. I felt right at home surrounded by an abundance of furnishings accented with soft grays, baby blues and sunny yellows. I must confess, the rooms in my home aspire to mimic the beauty found in each display.

If you don't know me by now, I’m a far cry from Martha Stewart and a bit of a hazard in the kitchen...just ask Mr. Chat. Seeing as Market was offering a demonstration with their Damascus Steel Knife, I decided to give it a go.

Sarah, a slicing superstar, spoke with me about the precision piece. “The knife is honed at a 16 degree edge so it’s very sharp and you can cut easily,” she said. Sarah was patient as I became familiar with the knife's high carbon stainless steel blade. "The steel is one piece to the back of the handle. It has a full tang so that you get a nice even balance on the blade,” she added.

The sleek handle, carved from olive wood, did most of the work, so only minimal pressure was needed. After a tutorial, or two, or three, I had finally mastered the movement and cut my carrot into petite portions perfect for a salad. Voilà!

West Elm Market is located at 160 Brookline Avenue in Boston’s Fenway neighborhood. No fingers were lost as a result of this story.

Thursday Thoughts :: A New Chapter

I rarely write journal-style entires on the blog. As a matter of fact, this could be my very first one. I'm not sure why since I grew up journaling {on paper} almost every single aspect of my life from elementary school to college. But my writing didn't consist of merely crushes on cute boys {who barely knew I was alive} and teachers I disliked. As a young girl, I would fill spiral notebook upon spiral notebook with fictional storylines and imaginative characters...and the occasional crazy doodle. Although I am not an artist by any means and couldn't possibly draw to save my life, this is likely why I still doodle on everything today.

My vivid imagination was {and still is} a result of being an only child. My childhood stories are top of mind today because while cleaning my childhood home a few days ago, I discovered a treasure trove of my spiral notebooks and a gorgeous Smith Corona Galaxie Twelve Typewriter -- an antique my father had been saving for his daughter, the aspiring author. I can't recall when my father purchased the piece, but I know it was something he had been saving for me.

The past month has been filled with waves of emotion. In mid-April, I was unfortunately not feeling well and was forced to take time away from a majority of my extracurricular activities {writing, friends, social events}. I used the time to rest, rejuvenate and reevaluate. Often when your body says stop, you must listen. Manolo knows this very well and I have been taking a page from his book.

My mother was also near the final stages of selling our family home and closing on her dream "empty-nester" adobe. It has not been an easy time to say the least. Saying farewell to the American dream my parents worked so hard to build and the place we called home for 30 years, was {and continues to be} an emotional roller coaster. Although time heals all wounds, our memories will last forever.

I'm thankful that life is slowly inching back to normal and that I'm feeling inspired to write again. Sometimes you just need that mental and emotional disconnect to once again connect to your inner voice. And as much as I love writing about my favorite places, products and people, I hope to dedicate at least one post per month to my inner voice.

Lick Your Chops :: Boston Chops Grand Opening

Chef Christopher Coombs assists vampire vixens on stage

The grand opening of Boston Chops was quite a sight for sore eyes. As beautiful urbanites sipped craft cocktails, savored succulent oysters and sampled the likes of sliced beef tongue, scantily clad cowboys combed the crowds and vampire vixens brought venom to the scene.

“We wanted to make a statement with the opening party,” Chef Christopher Coombs said in a recent interview. With a cheerful bartender chained to the ceiling, the extraordinary was far from ordinary even for the South End.

On a regular night, Boston Chops avoids the avant-garde; allowing the ambiance and plentiful provisions to speak for themselves. The dinning room's decor joins rich wood with exposed brick and has an industrial meets metropolitan feel. Ornate lighting hangs from an exposed beam ceiling and mimics the fixtures found in Clos de Vougeot in Burgundy, France.

Boston Chops is the latest collaboration between Coombs and business partner, Brian Piccini. The dynamic duo is also responsible for dbar in Dorchester and Deuxave in the Back Bay. The restaurateurs have built a serious steak selection to include cuts of hanger, flat iron, skirt, filet mignon, rib eye and New York strip. The beef is all-natural, free-range steer hailing from Nebraska and all are served with sauces made from scratch.

Keeping quality and community at top of mind, Coombs works with small farmers and neighborhood co-ops to ensure freshness and a family feel. “When you walk in the door, you know you’re coming to a Chris Coombs steakhouse. [Boston Chops] has a local connection and a chef driven concept,” Coombs added.

The meatless masses can also enjoy a meal at the urban steak bistro. From wild mushroom cavatelli with arugula to seared scallops with braised leeks, there’s a dish for every desire. Even patrons pining for poutine have hit a hot spot with their twice baked, gravy-infused potato side dish.

Boston Ballet's The Sleeping Beauty

Boston Ballet’s The Sleeping Beauty captivates the soul, ignites the imagination and leaves one breathless. Growing up as an only child, my vivid imagination and tenacious creative spirit often provoked these senses and left me dreaming about gleaming garments, lavish banquets and charming princes. Practicing ballet was my window into the dazzling world of fantasy.

Don’t expect the animated Walt Disney version of Sleeping Beauty at Boston Ballet. This legendary rendition was based on La Belle au Bois Dormant, a fairytale written by French author Charles Perrault. Choreographed by Marius Petipa and first performed in 1890 to the score of Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky, the classic tale involves a beautiful princess, handsome prince and the enchantment of sleep.

Veteran Boston Ballet dancer, Misa Kuranaga, plays the alluring Princess Aurora; a role she danced once before in 2005. In a recent interview, Kuranaga told me she relishes in the dynamics of the dance. “Aurora is known as the most technically demanding role for a ballerina,” she said. “In the first act entrance, Aurora is a sixteen-year-old girl with her future ahead of her. When I come onstage, I leave Misa behind and become a teenager again." Kuranaga added, “It is one of the most enjoyable roles I have ever danced.”

The set design is an elaborate masterpiece of opulent colors, grandiose garlands and elaborate detail. Costumes hail from the imagination of David Walker and range from period pieces to museum-worthy works of art. “There is a unique costume for each principal character and beautiful matching tunics and tutus for the men and women of the corps de ballet,” Kuranaga explained.

Princess Aurora’s wardrobe consists of vintage wear made in the early 1970s by the acclaimed costumier. Kuranaga opens the first act in a stunning pink tutu which lends a youthful look. Later in the third act, as Aurora prepares to wed Prince Desiré, the ballerina is adorned in white and gold.

The Sleeping Beauty welcomes surprise guests from other fables written by Perrault including Little Red Riding Hood and Puss in Boots. Many of the tales were rewritten by the Brothers Grimm and have been adapted to opera, theatre and ballet. Naturally, I fell in love with the endearing and playful banter between Puss in Boot and the White Cat.

Boston Ballet’s The Sleeping Beauty serves as a true lesson in life. The synthesis of right against wrong and love opposite hate is a central theme that audiences of all ages can appreciate. Performances run through April 7 at the Boston Opera House. Click here to purchase tickets.

Bond-insipred Untied Bow Tie

Writing a blog centered around style, beauty, décor...and occasionally cats, I’m often in pursuit of fresh designers and tastemakers who work with a creative eye and exude an entrepreneurial spirit. When I found the feline fashion boutique that is CATatelier, I knew I had to learn more about the visionary creator and the always camera-ready cat.

Julie is the brains behind CATatelier, a business she started on Etsy in January 2011. The New Jersey native is a self-described “crazy cat lady” who began designing accessories for her 3-year-old cat, Toki Nantucket, a few years ago.

“I wanted to dress my own cat and take photos, but I wanted to do it in a way that was chic and cute,” Julie said. “I knew that I could design something that fit properly as opposed to using items that were made for dogs.”

Julie draws inspiration from her childhood. She has vivid memories of watching cartoons and reading books with animals dressed in clothing. “Taking a photo with a cat wearing something is creating a little scenario and a character,” Julie said. “It's not really a new idea. It's just usually reserved for dogs."

One of the first garments Julie made for her purebred ruddy Abyssinian was an elf hood. She had designed smaller accoutrements for his long and lean frame, but never with the intention of selling them publicly. Tokie wore the elf hood for a Christmas photo and the headpiece quickly became a hit.

CATatelier offers a selection of stylish hats, scarves and ties with the newsboy cap reigning as Julie’s favorite. “It makes me think of a little street hoodlum hanging out in an alley playing dice,” Julie described in an interview. “This is definitely a throwback to childhood cartoons, from Looney Tunes to Heathcliff and the Cadillac Cats.”

For females, Julie loves the lace edge bib collar which reminds her of a baby traveling in a Mary Poppins-style perambulator. Cats cruising in carriages without a care in the world. What a thought.

Prior to beginning a photo shoot, Julie preps the camera, lighting and accessories so that Toki is only dressed for a short time. She uses positive reinforcement as a way to snap the purrfect pose. Since cats are pragmatic creatures and have lasting memories, Julie rewards Toki with homemade chicken treats for his model behavior. Being the intelligent and instinctual animal that he is, the frisky feline immediately runs to the refrigerator for “payment” after each session.

“Toki is amazing. Now when I dress him for photos, he sits down and poses, and then gets his chicken,” Julie said. “It is all very professional and funny.”

I am disappointed that I did not make it to the Gilt City Boston Warehouse Sale last week due to circumstances beyond my control. Having missed out on some serious bargain hunting, I'm flinging spring to the blog today. Wednesday is the first day of spring after all...even with snow still covering parts of the pavement in Boston. So, what's my closet coveting this season, you ask? Well, a lot and way more than my wallet can handle. Here's a look at five of my favorites...

Vine Camuto Torta Wedges

I have a passive, agressive relationship with wedges. I love them because I could practically run a marathon in them, however (at times) they can look and feel clunky and un-lady like. With all prim and properness aside, I love this cantaloupe pair from Vince Camuto. The bold medallion is a show stopper. What a perfect companion to white, cropped skinny pants. And if you call them espadrilles, it sounds far more glamours. Espadrilles, my darlings. Espadrilles.

Banana Republic Piped Navy Trench

I love navy...even a little more than I love black. Navy and white are two colors that herald in spring. Banana Republic does right by the classic combination this spring with a piped navy trench. This coat is coastal-chic and so very New England. Add a pop of fuchsia, turquoise or tangerine for contrast.

Joseph Altuzarra Dress

Joseph Altuzarra has an impeccable eye for authentic, feminine style. His collection is also worthy of every penny marked on the tag. I adore almost anything in gray and cream, so naturally I felt compelled to include this darling ikat-print dress. The solid bodice and leather-trimmed silk and grosgrain belt lends this piece an authentic feel that is perfect for an alfresco dinner date. Gilt City Boston Warehouse Sale

Wine Wednesday :: Boston Wine Expo 2012 Favorites

Whether I'm writing about wine or wisdom, the glass is always half full in my book. At the Boston Wine Expo this past weekend, the glass often contained a pour designed to stimulate my senses. Mr. Chat and I spent the better part of the afternoon sniffing and sipping our way through the robust rubies of Rhône, crisp ambers of California and so many more. I can't possibly mention all that made a lasting impression, but here's a look at the most memorable.

Fulcrum's On Point Christina's Cuvée is elegance in a glass. The harmony of cherry, strawberry and cinnamon waltz their way into the palate. Winemaker, David Rossi, named the claret-colored wine after his wife.

Hailing from the rustic region of Altenejo in eastern Portugal is Ciranda from Herdade dos Coelheiros. The vintage is a crushed confection of smoothness delight. I am told the wine accompanies grilled meats and robust cheeses well.

The Indaba Sauvignon Blanc pairs perfectly with salads and seafood. The South African selection is a dynamic stir of gooseberry and citrus with hints of bell pepper and fresh cut grass. Truly an amber to be admired.

By now, I'm sure you know how much I love animals. So naturally I could not skip the Stray Dog display without savoring a sip. Cranberry, blueberry and chocolate comprise the zest in this zinfandel. The best part is, a portion of each purchase is donated to the ASPCA to help dogs in need.

The 2010 Villa Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva, blended with 90% sangiovese and 10% merlot, is one of my go-to wines. The chianti exudes an aroma that is laced with red berries, spice and aged oak.

The aromatic Josh Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon is a pure cabernet sauvignon chock full of black current, red licorice and plush plum from the northern coast of California. Hints of vanilla and creamy coca give the wine ruby rich layers.

Black raspberry, blueberry, cassis and fennel mingle with the soft lilacs and stout salt licorice of Oregon to hatch harmony in a glass with the Archery Summit Premier Cuvée Pinot Noir. Delicious. Plain and simple.

Chic of the Week is taking you over the edge this week with a glimpse into Hervé Léger's fresh frocks for fall 2013. Last Saturday at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, designer Max Azria unveiled evocative aesthetics such as bare midriffs, lace appliqué and fur cover-ups. It was quite a shift from the sleek silhouette of the body-con craze that has long been synonymous with the Léger label.

A promenade of patterns packed a punch in black, ash and snow; while structured baseball caps added a seriously stallion feel. I loved Azria’s visionary mix of sporty meets spice. And the designer's intricate beadwork woven with satin, leather and lace left me breathless. I'm so longing for more Léger in my life.

Chic of the Week :: Monopoly Cat

Cats and cat lovers rejoice. The newest member of the Monopoly montage and my pick for Chic of the Week is none other than the cat. So, move over Scottie dog because there’s a fierce feline in town set to pounce past go, collect $200 and construct a cat kingdom on Boardwalk.

Hasbro announced the winner earlier this week following a month-long Facebook campaign by the Rhode Island-based company where fans voted for which tokens to toss and which ones to treasure. The classy cat, sporting a chic collar with the letter “M,” clawed 31% of the votes and will replace one of the game’s original pieces, the iron. But there were other contenders competing for the prosperous post: a guitar, helicopter, diamond and robot. I mean who really wants a helicopter or even a diamond ring when the most glorious gem on Earth is a feline friend.

It’s not clear if Monopoly’s new cat is male or female and if he or she will be given a name. I would be happy to propose a few unique names to Hasbro -- one of which is Manolo. I mean what better name for a precocious pet with a passionate purr and captivating coat. It’s certainly unique (when it comes to cat names) and it just rolls off of the tongue. In fact, the token cat is already wearing an "M" charm.

Monopoly's new edition is scheduled to hit store shelves towards the middle of this year. Until then, Manolo will be anxiously awaiting its arrival.

Wine Wednesday :: Boston Wine Expo 2013

On February 16 & 17 the Seaport Hotel and World Trade Center will once again welcome the Boston Wine Expo, a 2-day extravaganza featuring a Grand Tasting brimming with well above 200 wines hailing from more than 15 countries.

The intoxicating affair will include a bevy of Boston’s most celebrated chefs set to showcase their superior sauté skills on stage. Ming Tsai of Blue Ginger and Blue Dragon; and Barbara Lynch of Sportello, No. 9 Park, Menton, B&G Oysters and The Butch Shop will open the event. But the phenomenal food does not finish there as other acclaimed artists such as Jose Duarte of Taranta; Andy Husbands of Sister Sorel and Tremont 647; and Kevin Long of Empire, Tosca and Red Lantern commandeer center-stage to cook for consumers. Mary Ann Esposito, legendary host of Ciao Italia, will also be sizzling up a storm.

The Grand Cru Wine Lounge, highlighting a montage of rare and expensive vintages, is not to be missed. I must confess, I can taste the vast and vibrant varietals exclusive to the private tasting as I type. Perhaps it's my glass of Caymus Conundrum talking.

As for the seminars that will be presented throughout the weekend, the Russian River Valley and Sonoma County sessions are top on my list as Mr. Chat and I have been discussing a California wine tour. I also look forward to learning more about the rich and robust blends of Spain and Portugal, two countries which I have truly enjoyed touring for wine, food and culture.

Beauty in Boston :: Arianna Skin Care

I was thrilled when Arianna Skin Care finally opened its doors in Boston a few months ago. I was even more excited when I was invited to their media preview party. I was first introduced to the beauty retailer while vacationing in Newport, Rhode Island last summer. You can read all about my Newport experience here.

Upon entering Arianna's Tremont Street location in downtown Boston, I noticed that the white-washed walls were lined with products wrapped with Arianna's signature gold emblem -- a change from the store's previous product, Avani.

Founder, Miri Torres, had been working tirelessly with a team of experts to develop a line of mineral-based products from the Dead Sea exclusively for her beauty business. Torres, who was born in Israel and diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma in her teens, began working on the all-natural skin care line in 2007 after personal success using similar treatments from the Mideast region.

Guests sipped on Veuve Clicquot, sampled savory sushi and other delectables (courtesy of Sip Wine Bar and Kitchen) and participated in mini-makeovers. Arianna's resident make-up expert, Sagi, used beautiful neutral tones from MICA Beauty to give me a soft and alluring glow. I then added a red pout for a pop of pizzazz. When it comes to reds, I live and die by Burberry Military Red.

My gift bag was certainly one to write home about -- overflowing with luscious lotions, buttery balms and sensuous serums. I decided to take my time and indulge in each product before writing my review to allow my skin to reap their full benefits. These small miracles from the Dead Sea have since transformed my bath into an effervescent oasis while also harboring my skin from the deep chill that has recently blanketed Boston. As an escape from the elements, I have been indulging in nightly rituals of Arianna's silky Shower Milk Refiner followed by a layer of Ultra Rich Mineral Body Butter.

Arianna's Skin Renewal Facial Peel, infused with natural plant extracts and essential oils, has seriously saved me. Glamour & Gowns :: Golden Globes Red Carpet 2013

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler kicked off the 70th annual Golden Globe Awards last night which highlighted the acclaimed television series and motion pictures of 2012. Those of us who write style blogs, follow fashion trends and are deeply rooted in what’s hot (and what's not) were probably more interested in the 2-hour pop and circumstance of the red carpet promenade than in who won best actor in a television series. For the record, it was red headed hottie Damian Lewis from Homeland -- a well deserved win for Sergeant Brody.

Here are Rue Le Chat's top 5 picks (+1) for best dressed at the Golden Globes:

Amy Adams was simply stunning in a blush-colored gown by Marchesa. The mermaid silhouette encompassed a sweeping combination of soft lace and whimsical tulle that channeled old Hollywood starlets such as Katharine Hepburn and Bette Davis. The actress described the color as “ballerina pink.” Adams was fresh, flawless and unforgettable. I crush on designs by Marchesa and this dress did not disappoint. By far my favorite from the red carpet.

Jessica Alba made a splash on the red carpet in cantaloupe. Designed by style legend Oscar de la Renta, this mermaid-esque gown was one of my favorites. Alba paired the pre-fall 2013 stunner with an illuminating Harry Winston necklace (swoon) and coral Roger Vivier clutch. Her matching lips were a little too coordinated for me, but I was crushing on the soft curls draped over one shoulder. Apparently, I have a thing for mermaids.

There were two words that best described Katharine McPhee last night: sex and appeal. McPhee strutted along the red carpet in a black figure-fitting gown by Olivier Theyskens for Theory. She looked flawless with a nude lip and her smokey eyes enhanced her natural pizzazz. McPhee's messy (but perfect) bun did not distract from her plunging neckline, thigh-high slit or sex kitten high heels. I was all over these heels -- a perfect example of what I like to call “taxi to table” or in LA “driver to dinner table” footwear. Now, is it just me or is McPhee suffering from a case of the cankles? Yikes.

Morena Baccarin looked radiant in Valentino. The couture gown, with a sweeping midnight train, was paired with Bulgari jewels and captured Baccarin’s graceful stride down the red carpet. Her soft makeup and cropped curls framed her petite face and added a touch of old Hollywood glamour that so many women were channeling last night.

Kaley Cuoco’s nude Zuhair Murad gown with layers of tulle and an abundance of embroidered lace was soft meets sexy. Complete with a satin sash, the gown sadly did not receive much airtime. But for me, it was stunning nonetheless. I could have done without Cuoco's deep plum lip which was too dark for her fair complexion.

And who could forget the best dressed Golden Globes host?! The winner was none other than Entertainment Tonight co-host Nancy O’Dell. There was something so simple yet so strikingly beautiful about her floor-length, ocean blue gown. The long-sleeve statement dress hugged her in all of the must-have places and sparkled at every turn.

Christmas Eve Thoughts

On the eve before Christmas, my your heart and home be filled with love, laughter and loved ones. As dusk approaches and I settle by a roaring fire in anticipation of Santa's return, I'll relish in the true meaning of this special holiday. Christmas to me is not solely about presents, parties and pastries. It's about love and remembrance.

Tonight, also marks the first anniversary of Rue Le Chat. It has been an incredible year of meeting many terrific and utterly talented individuals on the writing, public relations and social media scene in Boston and beyond. I have enjoyed using this space as a way to release my inner-creativity and showcase my talent through inspirational words and images. Thank you to my family, friends and most of all my fans -- individuals who have helped me in countless ways privately and professionally. I look forward to another stellar year filled more projects and collaborations. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.
