Today we are featuring the lovely Jenna from Flipp Photography, in our Brands We Love series.

Flipp Photography is based in our lovely Melbourne however, she photographs all over Melbourne.

Jenna who is an incredibly talented creative has a background in fashion design and technology and almost 50 wedding under her belt, she truly is a well-rounded photographer.

We have had the pleasure of working with Jenna over the past few years, she has taken behind the scenes photos of our team styling weddings but also taken the official photographs of some of our clients.

SUMMER FAIRY TALE

This photoshoot is an ode to romantic elegance, the perfect inspiration for the bride who dreams of a summer fairytale and values beauty, femininity and slowing down those precious moments on their wedding day.

Inspired but the beauty of nature and elegance at Campbell Point House this dreamy editorial is infused with blush hues, delicate laces and scenes drenched with light.

From the beginning when the beautiful girl wakes up, finding herself enveloped in an airy blanket of calmness, curiosity and femininity, then she walks up into the ethereal hall where she met her prince charming and have a happily ever after. There is a sense of haste in this story as she came close to her husband, but in full awareness that she is in a dream. She ran and rushes around the scenes of her dream so she gets to see as much as she can before she wakes up and return to reality (wouldn’t everyone do that!).

Dressed by Helen Rodrigues Boutique in Sydney, she first wore an Inbal Dror white sheer couture dress before switching to a Monique Lhuillier flowy gown as she runs around the mansion.

Her hair was adorned with Jennifer Behr’s Lotus Petal headpiece paired with delicately embroidered Peter Lagner Amalie veil.

The mansion was decorated with blooms from Poppy Culture and Small Brown Writes created sweet little notes of love quotes to create an aura of love. Our model, Paris from Chadwick models had her face beautifully done by Katrina Villegas Makeup.

PARTY FOR BABY ARYA

Earlier this year we styled a beautiful baby shower for one beautiful mum, Sasmira.

A beautiful Melbourne sunny day and we styled what would be a lovely backyard soiree for the friends and family.

Tones of pink and burgundy, a fully styled mimosa bar, games, a decadent dessert bar and stunning florals and a balloon installation with sweet messages all from Baby Arya herself.

BESPOKE BRIDAL FAIR 2018 - SNEAK PEEKS

On Saturday 14th of April, we held our third instalment of our Bespoke Bridal Fair.

A day that is all about bringing together creative people who share the same passion as we do.

The event was exactly what we wanted it to be, It was one big epic party even with Melbournes crazy weather.

Held at the incredible 40 Rd in Highett, a space that our creative industry friends transformed into everything that screams love and weddings.

It truly was an amazing day filled with so much creativeness and joy, the vibe throughout the day was one that we will remember as it was what made Bespoke 2018 such a memorable day for us.

So much hard work was put into the day by our team and the amazing list of vendors, all under one roof.

We cannot thank everyone that was involved in the big day.

Our amazing vendors are not only great friends but all truly talented in their professions and we could not be luckier to have them be a part of the event.

As many of you are aware Melbourne is lucky enough to have a very large choice of wedding photographers to choose from. No matter what style of couple, budget or venue there is someone perfect for the job.

Named in Junebug's 2017 Best Wedding Vendors, a destination wedding photographer who is based in Melbourne.

A photographer who knows that every couple has a unique story and every couple has unique quirks and wants to capture a person's spirit, personality and history. He is known for the photos that are purely candid where it looks like nobody is watching rather than a 'well crafted moment'.

Jess from Elk + Willow known for capturing authentic, raw and emotional moments at weddings.

She allows couples to relax and let their guard down which shows themselves to show a more vulnerable side which creates unique moments of emotion.

I HEART FLOWERS | Brands We Love

In our second instalment of our Brands, We Love a series on our blog that focuses on the brands that we love and want you to discover or fall more in love with!

I Heart Flowers are based in Olinda a picturesque part of Melbourne, they work all over Melbourne and are known all over Melbourne. They are on some of the best venue preferred supplier lists Stones of the Yarra Valley and Bursaria (Abbotsford Convent and Refectory, Werribee are just a few of them.

Zoe the Creative Directors love for florals runs deep, Zoe and her team are always focused on creating a floral vision that can be incorporated into a wedding with other vendors.

We have been lucky enough to work with Zoe and her team on several of our weddings and I Heart Flowers were a big part of our Bespoke Bridal Fair last year and we are so excited that she will be a part of it again this year.

ORCHARDS AT SPRINGVALE FARM LAUNCH

Last November we were lucky enough to style the launch of this beautiful venue.

A team of people who worked tirelessly toward creating what was a wonderful event full of vendors who ensured that the Orchards at Springvale Farm Launch was a magical one.

There was live music from The Brentwood Duo, pop up picnics styled by Honor With Fete, a gorgeous dessert table in the secret garden with cakes supplied by the incredibly talented Lamana Patisserie.

An event that had tours throughout the day, with industry professionals such as wedding planners, suppliers, stylists, social media influencers.

As you can see below in the pictures it was an incredibly beautiful event, we can't wait to see what Orchards at Springvale Farm will produce this year.

Last November we were lucky enough to style the beautiful VIP launch event, located just out of Ballarat.

Orchards at Spring Vale has various stunning gardens with garden rooms, dams, picturesque apple tree orchards that produce an award-winning apple cider.

The venue can host weddings, events, cider-tastings, private dining experiences, photo shoots and product launches as well as accommodation in the homestead originating from the 1860's.

Glasshaus Inside

An award-winning, local, design business with two venues located in the iconic Richmond suburb of Cremorne.

Glasshaus inside is one of Melbourne's seriously hidden gems. Industrial chic meets the stunning plants draping from the walls. The natural light and stylish the 1920's warehouse provides the perfect backdrop for any celebration.

EMILIA'S FIRST BIRTHDAY | First Birthday Bash

Last year on one very hot 31-degree day we were fortunate enough to style the gorgeous Emilia's first birthday bash at Lucky Penny.

We transformed the room into pastel heaven with sorbet coloured chairs, napkins, flowers in all different soft summery colours.Flamingoes and swans were also present for the little party kids to take photos with and a beautiful balloon display was created by Moonshot Balloons to add to the styling.

A fun-filled day with giggles sprinkles love and laughter, a beautiful way to start the summer.

In December of last year, we were incredibly lucky to be a part of the wedding of Jasmine + Adam.

A day that was forecast with rain that would not go away, did not stop our beautiful couple having the time of their lives.

The wedding was simple, modern but at the same time so effortlessly beautiful and classic.

Set in the historic grounds of the Werribee Mansion the old building and little niches perfectly balanced against our stunning couple.

For us, stylists and planners though, we've seen every spectrum of how weddings would go. We pride ourselves of not getting surprised with plan B's and emergency thinking because...well...we've been through (almost) all of them. That means we do have advice to give. Whether it's from inside the industry or from our own wedding. Here's our top 6 Why Didn't I Think Of This from our own real life encounters and from our real brides...

Create Your Wedding Email

Never, I mean never ever, use your personal email or work email as your way of correspondence for any of your wedding planning. You will be talking to heaps of people during the whole process so having them all in one place will not only make it easier for you and you'll thank us for this.

Believe us when we say, sorting your booking confirmation through all your emails can be a pain.

Think About On-The Day Coordinator

The amount of times people come to us and say "I just realised I need to get married" is surprising! The last thing you'd want is to not be in the moment and worrying about all the little details. Having someone there who will be your eyes and ears is all worth it!

Take A Break
Wedding planning can be stressful so it's logical to take breaks in between. The same as everything in life, you'd want to celebrate the small wins and remind yourself and your partner the whole reason why you're doing this. And yes it is ok to take a break.

Get Someone To Save The Cake For You
I remember barely eating anything on the day especially the wedding cake. Ask one of your bridesmaids or family to save a slice (make it two) to enjoy after the wedding or the day after over breakfast. You'll thank me for it!

Give-away Your Wedding Flowers
We all know flowers can be expensive so if you feel bad that all those beautiful blooms will be going straight to the bin after, ask your stylist or florist to wrap them up for your guests to take home. Who doesn't like flowers right?

Keep a Wedding Box

Your wedding planning is a journey on it's own and although your wedding day is just one day, it's the journey you take from the minute you book your venue till the day itself that makes it special. A wedding box for your keepsakes (not your files) is a great way to relive that time. I, myself, have kept a copy of our invitation, the first draft of vows that I wrote, fabric swatches and the list goes on.

EMULATION HALL - The Gin Party.

Emulation Hall is a venue situated in Melbourne's eastern suburbs is now open for weddings and events. Ruffles and Bells were invited to the launch of Emulation Hall by CNK catering. A gin party with a twist!

Emulation Hall, originally a Masonic Lodge in 1927, i in Melbourne’s leafy inner eastern suburb of Canterbury. Recently restored CNK Catering decided to celebrate with a gin party! Guests were invited to sip gin-inspired cocktails, a selection of antipasto stations and delicious desserts while mingling with industry guests.

Emulation Hall is a heritage listed building that comprises of three distinct and separate spaces.

RENATA + CHRIS | An Art Deco Inspired Wedding.

This September we were very fortunate to style the wedding of Renata + Chris at The Refectory at Werribee Park.

Our first wedding at the new venue in the Werribee Park, a wedding inspired by the Art Deco era.

We based our styling on the monochromatic style of the era, with a modern twist featuring a custom diamond black arch, black metal, gold lanterns and colourful florals.

KAREN WILLIS HOLMES WINDOW INSTALLATION.

Earlier this year we were incredibly lucky to be asked by renowned Australian designer Karen Willis Holmes to create an installation for their new Armadale store.

Basing our installation of the laces, beading and embellishment on the gowns that are in the collections. We decided that we would create a foliage display that had a very untamed yet simple look to it. The colour palette we choose was dusty pink, green, gold and white as these tones matched the dressed that would be displayed in the window.

HELPFUL TIPS EVERY BRIDESMAID SHOULD KNOW

In life, everyone at some point will be asked by a gal pal to be the honoured bridesmaid, and here at Ruffles and Bells HQ, we thought it would be good to brainstorm some ideas on what we think you need to do to be one of the best bridesmaids for your bride-to-be!

Always offer to help with any pre-wedding tasks. The obvious "Would you like me to accompany you on the hunt for bridesmaid dresses" but you can also help out with the little details whether that is helping look for a stylist, florals, linen.
Personally, you can keep an eye out for any bridesmaid dresses, accessories or wedding accessories that will help your bride-to-be.
If there is a Maid of Honour offer to help co-host the hens or bridal shower with the bridal party.
Remember to be alert and ready to handle any tasks that are thrown your way on the day!
Make sure that you are looking after the bride's train (if she has one)
Always accompany the bride to the restroom, she will need help.

Remember to be a trooper, it is a stressful day but it is your brides special day.
As soon as the bridesmaid's dress is agreed on order it as soon as possible, it will make your life easier if it changes.
Unlike the guests at the ceremony, you will be standing on your feet most of the day and it starts long before the ceremony begins. So make sure that you are wearing comfortable shoes, if they are new definitely break them in!
If your bride is to follow the trend of the mismatched bridesmaid dresses, make sure that the bride says yes to the dress and that it works with the other dresses in the bridal party. It's better to get a yes from the bride first.
If you are stuck with a bad bridesmaid dress, be gracious and don't complain. Besides, it's not your day and you're doing this for a friend.
Provide endless support during the planning and on the day of the wedding!

A 30th birthday by invite that turns out to be a suprise wedding witht a Beyonce impersonator and a doughnut wall... what more could you want as a guest!!

Located at the Brunsiwck Foodstore this couple totally showed everyone how to party at their suprise wedding, having a secret room for the ceremony with a copper arbour that we still love to this day.

With florals the colpur of pink mixed with lots of greenery, it balanced perfectly with all of the couple cool quirks like the lego nod beacause of Kimberelys love of lego, thw doughnut wall, and of course the whole suprise wedding idea.

Congratulations Kimberely and Justin we are so honoured that you choose us to help bring your ideas to life for your special day.

SIX MUST-HAVE BRUSHES

It's amazing what you can learn from the experts, right? A few weeks ago we had the privilege of hosting the second instalment of The Beauty Edit. We were thrilled to see everyone who came and today KV from KVMUA and I are feeling even more generous sharing tips to all of you. During the workshop, KV did two demos to show all her tricks on two ways of applying make-up and have mentioned her fave tools a.k.a brushes. Today, KV shares her must have brushes and how to use them too!

As customer I can understand how overwhelming it can get when it comes to choosing the right tools to apply your makeup. A the second installment of The Beauty Edit Workshops, I broke it down into 6 must have brushes / tools you need in your kit (top to bottom).

Name: Buffer brush / Kabuki Brush

Type: Complexion / face

I call this the flawless foundation brush. The short, compressed bristles allow a flawless finish when applying foundation, it’s the closest thing to airbrushing without actually using an airbrush. It can be used to apply either powder or liquid foundation. The way to create that flawless finish is to blend the product on the face in a circular motion until you get the desired coverage. This brush is also great for cream blush application

Name: Medium Powder brush

Type: Face / cheeks

Traditionally this was used to apply blush or powder however as a makeup artist, I've learned to experiment and found that a secret to a light but flawless liquid foundation coverage is actually using this brush in large circular motion to blend. This brush can also be used for powder contouring around the face.

Name: Synthetic concealer brush
Type: Face / eyes

I love using this brush to do any corrections after applying my foundation, mainly to blend out any streaky application and to apply concealer to smaller areas of the face particularly around the nose and mouth area. Because it's synthetic, I also like to use this to apply eye primer, cream eye shadow, or wet eye shadow.

Name: Blending brush
Type: Eye

Probably the most universal eye brush you will own. The bristles are made for blending and that’s exactly what it does, blend blend blend. The shape of the brush is rounded so it moves with the natural shape of the eye and can also be used on the socket to create a more of a dramatic look. Because the brush isn’t to big, you can choose how much product you want to apply on your eyes and blend it out quiet easily, whereas a flat rounded brush will only just apply the product but cannot complete the job since it is not made for blending. Secret tip - I use this also for cream concealer to cover blemishes.

Name: Fine angled brush
Type: Eyes / brows
This brush is a MUST HAVE! I'ts one of the brushes a makeup artist can’t live without. Multipurpose, it’s perfect for eyebrows and applying wet or dry eyeliner. For eyebrow’s it can create the perfect arch if used correctly and as for eyeliner, the angle of the brush allows it easier to handle and can create that perfect winged look.

Name: The Beauty Blender

Face / complexion

This OG, Beauty Blender is also the most common way of applying foundation, and most recently also used to apply powder when "baking". I love using the Beauty Blender wet, I find that it doesn't suck up product in comparison to a dry sponge. I also like it wet so it helps blend the foundation flawlessly.
